Chronoswiss – this luxury watch brand could be considered a newcomer by Swiss Watch industry standards – it’s founder Gerd-Rudiger Lang only established his workshop in 1981. However the Chronoswiss name has been elevated to a high level of respect across the watch manufactures industry due to its passion for the watch making craft and the essence of its traditions.

On serving his apprenticeship, Gerd-R Lang became an employee of the prestigious Heuer watch company (later to become TAG Heuer). He was to remain here for twenty years working on the famous sports chronographs and stopwatches including the iconic Monaco chronograph watch.

On his departure from Heuer, Lang furthered his studies becoming a “Master Watchmaker” and in 1982 the first watch bearing the name Chronoswiss was unveiled and the company was officially registered in 1984.

The Regulateur unveiled in 1987 become a signature piece for the company showcasing the now synonymous oversize “onion” crown, exhibition case back, soldered lugs and milled bezel.

The Chronoswiss Regulateur was also a world first being the first wristwatch with hours and minutes displayed separately.

Other important pieces in the Chronoswiss portfolio include the Chronoscope, the Delphis, which features retrograde minutes and digital hour display and the remarkable Digiteur which combines non-analogue display with an analogue movement.

More recently the Sauterelle models have been added to the collection, complete with jumping seconds – traditionally a feature of a quartz watch even though the movement is entirely mechanical.

The Sauterelle, translating as “Grasshopper” is important also because it is Chronoswiss’ first manufacture creation having been crafted entirely in house from scratch.

The history of the Chronoswiss brand may only reach back 25 years but it is a name often mentioned alongside centuries-old traditional watch companies. These ingenious and innovative timepieces will surely become the heirlooms of the future.

As time goes by, I realised there are just too many things in this life that I need to handle. I nee

As time goes by,

I realised there are just too many things in this life that I need to handle. I need to know, I need to understand, I need to cope and I need to get over it if I want to survive.

I don’t understand what has happened in my life so far, but as I grow older, I found more hurtful phenomenon.

I found more obstacles, more discrimination, more tears, more who bleed…

This week, I learnt about two things:

1. World has changed just too much.

New viruses, outbreaks, H1N1, disasters, wars… lengthy yet ironically being overlooked by most of us. Does this show our world has changed to the extent that we could not even understand it anymore? Is it our fault? Or the world just simply changed?

I guess the world has indeed altered into something that I could not imagine what it would be in the next 10 years if these disastrous phenomenons keep happening.

,

2. Life-beings – humans, animals, plants – are just too ancient

Everyone perceived with the technological advances, we are labeled as modern society. Modern human-beings. But do you really believe that is the state we humans are currently hold?

I don’t see anything like that. We are just too old, too ancient, too long. We are worn out.

Life without technologies would leave us stupid. Life without competitions is not supposed to be in modern life.We are too ancient compared to all the technologies we’ve ourselves created for ourselves.

Within one month, can you imagine how many new gadgets being produced to accompany us in this country? But, have you ever wondered how many of them actually save our lives and make our lives to be better? Let me repeat myself, better! Convenient doesn’t mean it is Better.

Mobile phone, mp3 player, e-book, plasma tv, laptop, etc… All these do you really think it makes our life better? Everyday, they produced new design, new feature, new price etc.. but how much damage have these gadgets give to our ancient self?

phone – radiation caused cancer?

mp3player – blast out more to your ears and your ears capabilities to listen is gonna be like our old aunt.

e-book – eyes?

How about the waste of these products after they are thrown away every time we purchase a new cooler design product?

I am sure you who read this is mature enough to know what it ‘contribute’ to our environment.

….

When every month we have our new gadget being produced, does anyone even care with new disease being found or those long-history disease that have not received much focus by the government? We just don’t care, we care about what we’ll wear, what will be hanging on our body..

Take an example of “psoriasis”. How many of you know about this disease? How much have people done to research on this disease? How much have been forked out by the government to take a look of this disease to find possible cure?

Others are too busy with politics, technologies, fashion, lifestyle, entertainment, education while ignoring the basic.

TO SURVIVE and LIVE ON…

To be cooperative and help our other fellows to survive. Create an environment where we can all live together. Support each other basic need in life. Physically – health, emotionally – love and religions.

//

I wonder…

Do you think 2012 is really a dooms day? It has been refuted by the authorities that the maya calendar does not say that it will be our doomsday.

A lot of people have watched the infamous 2010 movie by now I bet (though I have not). What do you guys think about doomsday?

I don’t know when, but I believe that our world and life-beings in this world are just too ‘chui’ (damaged) to continue living, running and surviving.

Shouldn’t there just be doomsday? when everyone is just being scrapped together with this world as He remake a new fresh one? I wonder…

Or should we find that silver lining and start to change ourselves. Change our focus of life not only as a “pursue higher and higher” but “pursue balance and harmony”?

.

a supposedly optimistic individual,

sign off.

And I feel fine! It was sixty years since the “big stop” happened, the day that everythi

And I feel fine!

It was sixty years since the “big stop” happened, the day that everything ceased moving, the skies grew quiet. In the interim life has gone on, changed but still continuing. The Mad Max world envisioned by Hollywood never came to pass, there were no wild packs of roving gangs with guns, no turbocharged death machines filling the roads. It was more of a return to a simpler time, with horses supplanting cars again, roads slowly losing their pavement, and man losing his place as the master of nature.

*The end of the world as we know it!

After my Dog Town game ended, I was looking around for something to engage me. I thought about doing some rules-lite stuff, but suddenly I found that wasn’t quite “crunchy” enough. Yes, I’m hooked on the crunch. Somehow I hit on the idea of post-apocalyptic. I have no idea where it came from, but it was fuled by a cheap modern pulp post-apocalyptic book and some episodes of “Life after people” on Discovery. I was hooked.

I wanted to investigate the bones of society, so I started casting around for rules. I initially thought of Savage Worlds with the Gamma World addition, or even original Gamma World, but they seemed either too combat-oriented, or too origial D&D. I wanted something…crunchy…investigative. I thought, something like Daredevils, the old FGU pulp game that’s one of my favorite systems I never played. I thought of converting that, but then I remembered the sister product: Aftermath! It too was FGU, and by Robert Charrette and Bob Hume. I downloaded it from RPGNow for $8 and yup, it’s the same system, but crunchier! I was in heaven.

I’ve been working on character creation, learning the system and how to build the people to populate the world of Aftermath! The beauty of this system is that you can end the world any old way you feel like it. Comet? Sure. Nukes? Of course. Dragons? Heck yeah! The GM has ultimate control over how to put an end to his world and what the world, how long it’s been and what’s happened in the meantime. Of course all that has to be built, but that’s part of the fun.

For my setting I’ve posited that no one really knows exactly what happened on that day sixty years previous, all they do know is that everything collapsed after that. Aftermath! suggests a 90% kill rate for the first go around and then a 50% rate on the “second kill”, the riots, plagues, and general collapse that comes about as a result of what happened in the first kill. I’m taking the view that people will have been too busy surviving to really record and remember the details of what happened in those dark days. And now sixty years later those first survivors are now almost all gone, and the ragged remains of government wants to find out what is known and how to rebuild.

I figure that the US government was pretty much whiped out. I have water starting somewhere to the south of DC and continuing north, a bite out of the continent where the big eastern seaboard cities used to be. The government, such as remains, is based somewhere in Arkansas or Georgia, leaders of a republic in name only. The states haven’t been heard from in decades, but finally the feds feel it’s time to reestablish contact and piece the nation back together.

To do this, the impoverished President sends one man out to scout, investigate, record and connect. He is Peter Stone, a survivor of the original collapse as a child, and in the meantime has become a historian of the broken future. It was he who discovered the lack of land to the northeast. N0w in his 60’s Peter travels the country looking for a country to rebuild.

In his travels he meets Jane, a near nameless girl of the present, born to who knows who, and from who knows where, Jane only knows that she’s in her late teens and is searching for the family she never had. As a child she was handed from family to family, working for each, until she gained her independance. Now she drifts from place to place, looking for things she recognizes or remembers, trying to find herself.

To follow, the characters…

The articles of clothing for women today are basically the ultimate representation of the confidence

The articles of clothing for women today are basically the ultimate representation of the confidence of a woman, which makes her more glamorous and stylish. Here are some of the styles, which would surely fit the modern woman.

1. Summer Style

Since summer is usually the hottest season, women usually think that they would be better off with a plain shirt and some khakis. However, plain tees could be a bit boring. Summer is all about exotic prints and bold colors. However, pastels and neutrals would work great, as well. However, for a more adventurous and interesting style, you could put on embroidered fabric tops or even batiks. Also advisable would be clothes with unique patterns and ruffles. If you choose to put on your favorite jeans, then you wear an off-the-shoulder tunic top serve as a cover up.

2. Simple and Elegant Style

If you want to dress sexy, you need not wear a micro skirt and a tight tube top. You can try the sassy yet classic look. You could make it loose, and not tight. You could go full-skirted, instead of gripping. You could wear a long and full-skirted dress and still elegantly stand out. For taller and skinnier women, belted dresses with pleats would look good.

3. Happy Style

Children are not the only ones who could dress funky and sweet. You would be able to deduct a couple of years with a colorful and fun dress. Just make sure that it would fit the occasion and that you are wearing the right accessories with it.

4. Unique Style

The best fashion statement would be to wear clothing that would be unique. Some floral and metal studs would be the classic embellishment to unusual fabrics.

Art is the one subject that is constantly changing, changing in the approach of its various artists, changing the meaning from viewer to viewer, changing in style and movements and critique. Art is fluid; Art is capricious. Modern Art is one of the most discussed and controversial
movements.

One question always presented is the meaning of modern art, with abstraction heavy in the movement, sometimes it is hard, almost impossible, to find the artists’ true moods and meaning behind each work. So, is Modern Art meaningless? Maybe the question is more along the lines of is Modern Art past meaning, is it purely Art?

A qualification of being Pure Art is to have meaning. To be independent of the necessity of explanation is to be so raw in emotion that no reference is needed; to immediately have an emotional response so strong from the viewer that the viewer doesn’t need to know the reason behind the piece of work, they just need to feel the raw emotion of the artist. No story is needed, the viewer doesn’t need to know who the subject is, what they did in history, or the myth accompanied with the setting of the work. – Doodle Art Posters –
Vintage Posters Art
Vintage Posters Art

I am the first to admit I do not understand modern art so, when I entered the Everson Museum’s Modern Art gallery, I felt like I was in a scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I just kind of stared at the art hanging on the walls with my mind unable to make much sense of them. After considering the painting above, I decided to do as the artist did and photograph it using lots of negative space. The lighting and shadows help to bring your eyes to the subject of…well, you be the judge.

Now, I further admit I do love a sense of humor. Here’s a piece of art created by Toby Buonagurio a professor at SUNY Brockport who describes her work this way:

Dime store and flea market detritus, mass media cliches, hot rods, absurd fashion, and cultural stereotypes serve as inspiration for my ceramic combines. My work is serious in intent, but there’s always an underlying message couched in the humorous appearance.

I like to think of myself as a…..sort of modern guru of human nature. Seeing people walking around is fun. I don’t get involved, and yet I still get to see all that is going on. Watching a group of people you can see how one person with a different attitude than the other 100 people in a group can cause a change. Here is an example. I live in a semi-large city and we have a couple of malls. I was at one the other day with my fiancée. The mall was quite packed that afternoon and we were just sitting on a bench on the upper level. Leaning over the rail behind us we could see all of the people walking in large bunches. There were some parts where groups would intermingle for a short period and become larger groups for a short while. One in particular was amusing to watch. There occurred a mixing of several groups of people. Group one which I shall dub “annoying teen girls” consisted of roughly 20 or 30 people. Group two which I shall dub “emos” consisted of roughly 10 people. Our last group which I shall dub “should have spent more time in school” consisted of about 40 people. So annoying teen girls were walking out of a jewelry store and seemed very happy. They happened to be walking in the same directions as the people who should have spent more time in school. The annoying teen girls mood almost instantly changed from giggly to….well brass I guess would be the correct term. They still smiled but seemed to dare anyone to stand in their way while they were. The people who should have more time in school turned from a constant angry to more of a tolerable down demeanor. Things seemed to be going well until the emos came along. Please note that by this time going in the same direction were almost 70 people. They came out of a store off to the side of the group and started walking the opposite direction. Now, I will say that I generally find emos annoying, but I wouldn’t do anything to hurt them. I just think they whine far to often for not good enough reasons. From the second that the emos entered this group the entire following turned hostile. From the people in the front who couldn’t even see that another group of people had entered the walking area to the people right beside the emos. It was like a kind of lazy lighting reaching the front, but it was still there. The whole group turned into a kind of immune system that rejected the whiny nature of the emos. More amusing to see was that the group turned back to its previous attitude after the emos left the immediate vicinity. The annoying teen girls turned into a clothing store and went back to being giggly. And the people who should have spent more time in school turned back to their constant angry attitude. You think this is why so many misunderstandings are made worst in a group of people? You can’t see how people are when they aren’t near you. Ok, I’ll bug you more later.

Japan’s capsule hotels are often a strange concept to foreigners, but the idea is an ingenious way to handle city crowding and space constraints. The first capsule hotel in Japan was built in 1979 in Osaka. The new 9h Capsule Hotel will open in December 2009 in the Japanese city of Kyoto.

Capsule hotels provide guests a private sleeping area and communal amenities. While the concept has previously been utilized as a cheaper hotel option, the 9h capsule hotel adds luxury and refinement. The bed capsule will be made up with 4-star hotel linens and provides a Panasonic system that uses light to naturally and comfortably wake you up. Fumie Shibata of Design Studio S is the mastermind behind the 9h capsule hotel.

‘A comfortable place to rest … 1 hour shower, sleep for 7 hours, have a one hour break / total 9h.’ Guests can spend up to 17 hours in a single stay – the price for one night is ¥4900 ($54,-).

Al Volo is a casual Italian restaurant in the Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane, and it is facing the parking space on Hanbury Street, the same street of NUDE ESPRESSO CAFE and ROSA’S. This airy and cheerful restaurant is decorated modern and in good taste. They don’t close kitchen in between lunch time and dinner time, and it is good place to go for late lunch or snacks. Most of the staffs are Italians, and they enjoyed chatting as it was not a busy time when we went.

Their wide range of menu offers anything you want from Italian restaurant from nibbles to mains – antipasti (appetiszers), Bruschette, Zuppa (soup), Piadine (thin bread sandwich), Pasta (handmade fresh pastas and De Cecco dry pastas), Secondi (mains), Insalata (salads), Contorni (side dishes), Pizze (Pizza) and Dolci (sweets). From their Autumn menu, today we ordered Penne all’arrabbiata and Tagliatelle al pesto Siciliano piccante (spicy pest0 of plum tomatoes, smoked ricotta cheese, pine kernels, almonds, garlic, chilli pepper and fresh basil) – photo. Creamy Sicilian style pesto sauce was not terrible but I don’t know what to think – it is unfamiliar taste for me. However, handmade tagliatelle was not bad. Penne with nice and sweet sauce made of ripen tomatoes was pretty good – we loved it. Their espresso and cappuccino after the meal were very good – we can count on an Italian-operated place!

Al Volo opens everyday but can be very busy when Sunday UpMarket and The Backyard Market are held on Sundays, so better avoid Sunday during the markets, if you want to relax without hassle.

In this article, we will look at the best Christmas gifts for the modern man, those men who value th

In this article, we will look at the best Christmas gifts for the modern man, those men who value their daily appearance and always want to look great. Gift considerations for these men are different than for the everyman. We will take a look at how these men differ and what type of Christmas gifts to get them.

I have previously written about gifts for the man termed the “Every Man”. These are those men who proudly fit many of the male stereotypes. The men who love games, barbecues, and beer. Often, these men are not hyper-focused on their appearance.

Today, we will take at look a different type of man, “the modern man”. The modern man may enjoy the activities and gifts of the every man but his interests are also unique. The modern man loves to look great all the time. You will not find an unkempt modern man as you would with the every man.

The modern man often lives in or near the city. He’ll be adorned in the finest clothes and a nice car. You will never find his house or apartment dirty, nor will you find him disheveled. Sometimes called a metro sexual, these men require different gift considerations. So, let’s take a look at the best gifts for the Modern Man that may not immediately come to mind.

Have you ever seen men’s facial moisturizes, fragrances, and grooming products and wondered who buys them? The modern man does; that’s who! Men’s grooming products are ideal for the men who want to look fashionable and fantastic all the time. Their bathrooms are filled with items to make them look great. Along these lines, you will want to consider all skincare products, wrinkle creams, and facial hair products. Clinique has an entire line of terrific products for the modern men.

The modern man also likes to smell great. While the every man may be content with his tried and true Old Spice, this professional uptown man has many a cologne in his arsenal. From Dolce and Gabbana to LaCoste, you will find all the name brands represented in his scents. Colognes make great stocking stuffers or Christmas gifts for him. You may want to consider a scented variety pack that will offer him a plethora of great scents to try.

This man also often excels in the kitchen. He may be unmarried or he married late to kick off his successful career. In this process, he learned how to cook and is a chef in his own right. New kitchen items will leave him extremely satisfied. From wine glasses, to cutlery sets, to fine coffee makers, any new great kitchen gadget will be applauded by this man.

When you think of the every man, you may picture him in his old comfortable boxers. Not so with this new type of man. You will not find him lounging in 5 year old boxers. He wears the best pajamas, nice robes, and latest boxer-briefs. There are great gifts to find in the sleepwear category for him.

Finally, consider the latest men’s fashion. He wears name brand everything. From stylish hip clothing, to classical ties, to Tag Heuer watches, the modern man looks great wherever he goes. Calvin Cline, Perry Ellis, and Armani are names he knows. Get him something in one of these fashionable categories and he is sure to enjoy the gifts that you get him this Christmas.

You can find all of these gifts on the Christmas Gifts for Men page at the Christmas Store Online.

If your kitchen looks tired and old, consider a few low cost makeover options to transform your home.

When this customer contacted Primaveris, she was concerned that there was little she could do to bring her kitchen up to date, as she only had a tiny budget.

We checked her cabinets and discovered that they were still in good condition, so we suggested changing the doors and drawer fronts to a more modern style.

She chose a practical flat panel laminate door in white which would be easy to wipe clean, and some modern stainless steel handles. We also changed her tired laminate worktop for a new lighter colour top.

What a difference!
