NOV 17 Floyd Farland: Citizen of the Future, el primer cómic publicado por Chris Ware entre 1986-87 y reproducido en su totalidad en link del título, les advierto que su manera de dibujar en esa época era muy distinta a  la actual, con su característico estilo diagramático, sin embargo creanlo que vale la pena chequearlo.

NOV 18 “Remote Control Jimmy” de Spümco, esto es una rareza, dos duros de la animación reunidos para hacer un cómicbook, de John K y Mike Fontanelli y editado en el año 1996.  La segunda página (arriba) es un homenaje a Milt Gross, una mermelada, de pana que si tienen poco tiempo y solo pueden revisar un link… este es.

NOV 20 Covered, este magnífico blog se ha dado la tarea de incluir en cada post una portada clásica de cómics americanos y su versión moderna o remasterizada por artistas más nóveles. En la imágen de arriba Sol Brodsky parodia la portada del primer episodio de “X-Men” de Jack Kirby (me dio demasiada risa la imágen de Beast).

Muy diferentes las palabras de Moebius (Jean Giraud), autor de cómic y del diseño de ´Alien´, ´Abyss´, ´Dune´, ´El quinto elemento´de las que estamos acostumbrados a escuchar acerca de la creación artística:

¿Eso lo aprendió entonces?

Aprendí algo esencial que ha constituido mi filosofía de vida: el error, la imperfección, es lo que nos permite abrirnos para cambiar y conocer al otro, porque la fuerza (la intelectual, la física, la de seducción) cierra, levanta un velo y deja fuera al otro. Al fuerte sólo le salva un agujero en el velo. Los otros entran en nosotros como el agua, que nunca sube, siempre fluye hacía donde no hay impedimentos.

Me gusta mucho hacer cosas sin motivo y con confianza total en el inconsciente, porque creo que hay un ángel (otro nivel de conciencia) que habla a través de nosotros; pero la utilidad me hace perder las alas, así que todo lo que hago es inútil.

 

Pero no por diferentes sus palabras dejan de ser ciertas: la fuerza creativa no proviene de la lógica y la racionalidad sino del maravilloso mundo de nuestro inconsciente, esa parte de nosotros que Moebius define bellamente como “nuestro ángel”. Y esta no es una verdad “espiritual” o “New Age” (aunque desde esos terrenos se haya hablado más del inconsciente) sino una verdad de la CIENCIA en mayúsculas.

En este capítulo de Redes Punset nos lleva de la mano del psicólogo John Barhg (no creo que un investigador de la Universidad de Yale sea sospechoso de esoterismo) a descubrir como la ciencia ha llegada a la conclusión de que la mayor parte de nuestro procesamiento mental, se hace de manera inconsciente.  Bargh nos dice cosas como : Incluso cuando creemos que estamos haciendo algo conscientemente, con atención y conciencia, en realidad hemos llegado a la respuesta de un modo rápido mucho antes de lo que creemos. Y otras como: captamos impulsos que proceden de otro lugar, que guían nuestros actos, pero cuando actuamos, siempre tenemos una bonita historia para justificar por qué hacemos lo que hacemos.

Se calcula que el inconsciente procesa unos 11 Millones de bits por segundo mientras que la conciencia, funcionando a tope tiene capacidad de procesar 50 bits. No sé si podéis haceros una idea de lo que eso supone. A mi me cuesta!!

Por eso, a la hora de ser creativo, dejarse llevar como dice Moebius y no tratar de ser “perfecto” nos ayuda enormemente a fluir, ya que nuestro inconsciente y su enorme capacidad (recuerda 11m/bits/seg) no se ven entorpecidos por nuestra conciencia (con sus tristes 50bits/seg). Es lo que Tim Galway, uno de los padres del coaching, llama “dejar las interferencias del Yo intrusivo”, ese Yo que es como una voz en off comentando nuestros actos y juzgándolos, pero que no contribuye en nada a mejorar la ejecución de la tarea que tengamos entre manos.

Por tanto, ¿eres amigo de tu inconsciente? ¿te dejas fluir en las tareas o pretendes tenerlo todo “concienzudamente controlado? ¿buscas el perfeccionismo?

De remarcat e ca, desi muzica e in esenta ritmica, si sunt influente contemporane (8-bit music, dnb, techno), structura nu e orientata pe ritmul in sensul popular al cuvantului, e mult mai libera, in stilul primelor albume de krautrock. Iti lasa mintea sa zboare departe.

Video from the Architects Journal’s YouTube page (subscribers: 6) about the top five comic book cities. Gotham’s in there, obviously, and Chris Ware, and the Jean Giraud/Moebius stuff’s pretty amazing. But I feel like this could be slightly controversial for certain members of the L.W.A.P.D. community. Anybody got any strong opinions on comic books and/or architecture?

Jean Giraud o su alter ego artístico Moebius, presenta este més en las librerías su último trabajo “Inside Moebius”. Este grande entre los grandes plantea este último proyecto como un diario gráfico, un diario personal donde nos deja ver como es el proceso de crear. Con toques surrealistas, el autor muestra sus opiniones tanto en cuestiones personales como artísticas. Para ello se rodea de sus grandes personajes de siempre Arzak o el eterno vaquero Blueberry, pero también da paso a personajes reales como Bin Laden. Para Moebius era el momento de hacerlo, su obra surge tras la decisión personal de abandonar la marihuana como herramienta creativa o su preocupación creciente por el comic europeo cada día más invadido por el éxito del manga japonés.

Yesterday eclipsed my largest daily amount of progress on knitted projects. I don’t count my stitches or rows or number of do-overs / tinking. But, after seeing a Facebook status from a knitting/dying friend asking what everyone’s average stitch count per day is, I sat back and thought, “Hey! Yesterday I did more than ever before !” Timely.

Infinity Peacocks Moebius Wrap

On my own pattern in the Large size that I’ve planned to finish by Turkey day, I completed the 2nd of three sections. I’m on the home stretch. It’s over 500 stitches per row in a moebius loop (never ending!!). Per my previous post, you’ll note that the other yarn I’d been knitting was not magic, and was not inspiring, and was just NOT. Recently too, within the past two weeks, I helped another knitter friend destash (yes, I was enabled) so she could pay a kitteh vet bill. We’ve become very close online – some may feel that’s weird, but we chat quite a bit and yes, we’ve become good friends. One day, we WILL meet IRL (in real life).

I ‘rescued’ 1500 yards of Texas Toasty in Flan from her. Luscious and so soft. She even sent me cardigan patterns! I had searched too while waiting for USPS to deliver the goods and found a great Drops pattern that I’d decided I liked best, even after review of the freebies sent. I’ll reserve one of those – or two – for later.

When the yarny goodness arrived, I’d set it aside thinking it would one day be a great cardigan; much like many other stash items in my SABLE. That’s on the verge of three lifetimes at present.

I’d also wound two of the three skeins. Still swiftless, I just sit cross legged and hand wind. I love the feel and having the drape of the skein on my knees is just like a warm hug. The entire process is very cathartic.

Last night, while watching Sci-Fi channel (I’m a maven but cannot let my hands be idle), I knit away on my IPMW. Dinner break and kiddo pick-ups were minor but necessary interruptions but I got a rhythm. And it was good.

I got guage!

The Flan balls were in my line of sight, and I began to wonder if I should. . . . . I found the circular needles in the correct size, and knitted a guage swatch. I made guage the first try! I’m saving it for perpetuity . . . or at least until I need that bit for seaming. . . It may be close!  Not deterred by the 12 or so projects still on needles (yes, really), I pulled a new ball and started casting on the 264 stitches to start the ribbing. One d0-over later and the correct amount of yarn tail, I had success and began the K2P2 ribs.

Future Cardigan in Flan

I probably knit 5000 stitches in all yesterday, and not one was wasted or rushed or disliked. It was all about the great balancing act of remaining active and interested! I love this craft. ♥

Today however is a new day and many other things on my plate. Here’s hoping you get as  much or more done on your list so your knitting time gets into your schedule too!

Manga Compared to a Plague

Israel Punzano : Lo que parece seguro es que a este ritmo dentro de poco estaremos todos leyendo manga. El éxito del cómic japonés entre los jóvenes no presagia nada bueno para los autores europeos.

Moebius : El manga es una plaga. La invasión ha sido total, como demuestra las cuotas de mercado que ha conseguido. Es una epidemia. Me recuerda a lo sucedido con las abejas de la Amazonia que suben hasta Norteamérica y matan a las especies autóctonas. En Francia, los camarones han desaparecido porque echaron en nuestras aguas una especie foránea que acabó con ellos. Los nuevos también están buenos, pero no son los mismos… Tienen un acento espantoso. El problema es que el manga llega a Europa, pero el cómic europeo no va a Japón. Eso es lo injusto.

O eso dice el maestro en esta entrevista a El País que el Sr. Cabezabajo nos descubre. A los 65 decidió dejar de usar la marihunana terapéutica (enteogénicamente hablando, claro) y ahora le da por volar, “no tan bien como los norteamericanos,” pero volar. Leer para creer. En lo que no le falta razón es en la falta de reciprocidad editorial con Japón, donde deben desconocer mucho de lo que se hace fuera de sus fronteras.

Auch wenn es mir immer noch nicht gelungen ist, ein Foto des wundervollen Highland Triangle Shawls von Jürgen an der Frau zu präsentieren (ich habe das Tuch grundsätzlich im Büro, da meine Kollegin sehr oft Frischluftzufuhr braucht, während meiner einer dann vor sich in bibbert und durch das Tuch gerade am rechten “Maus”-Oberarm – Insider wissen Bescheid – geschützt ist), so kann ich euch nun doch wenigstens ein Selbstporträt vorstellen, während das Modell den Möbius trägt.

Dass ich meinen Kopf abgeschnitten habe, war Absicht. Ich sehe grundsätzlich greulich aus, wenn ich mich selbst ablichte – keine Ahnung, warum. Und bitte seht mir auch nach, dass ich mich nicht extra umgezogen habe, sondern meinen warmen Pullover trage. Wir stecken gerade in Um- und Ausräumarbeiten, weil wir am WE unser Wohnzimmer streichen werden – da komme ich an kaum noch etwas ran. Aber zumindest habe ich meine Strickbücher und -utensilien gerettet, so dass ich jederzeit an alles herankomme… jahaa, Frau ist blickig… zumindest manchmal

Ursprünglich hatte ich gehofft, euch mehrere Tragemöglichkeiten zeigen zu können, aber um den Möbius über den Kopf zu ziehen, um sozusagen einen Mützenschal zu haben, sollten Umfang und Länge erweitert werden. Ich habe es versucht, aber Kinder… ich sah vielleicht verboten aus… Glaubt mir, DAS wolltet ihr nicht sehen

Bei Tina habe ich von den Indernadeln gelesen. Als ich mich dann durch die Seiten geklickt habe, konnte ich nicht anders und habe mir noch 3 Schalpins bestellt. Wunderwunderschöne, wie ich finde:

Und zwar habe ich einen aus Holz, einen aus Horn und einen aus Muschel gewählt. So dürfte ich nahezu jedes Tuch mit einer passenden Fibel schließen können.

So… wir haben keinen Karton mehr… ich hoffe, ich darf jetzt Schicht machen für heute und mich dem Stricken widmen. Ich bin nämlich erschossen…

Hier erst einmal festgesteckt, so weit es möglich war, damit sich die Spitze nicht so wellt. Ich habe zwar keinen Styroporkopf oder dergleichen, aber ich denke, ich kann den Möbius auch selbst einmal tragen, bevor ich ihn verschenke, einfach um die Tragemöglichkeiten einmal fotografisch festzuhalten

Post sobre um material apresentado pelo professor David de Oliveir Lemes como referência a nossas história. Se trata de uma HQ escrita entre 1976 e 1980.

Garagem Hermética

Trabalho iniciado em 1976 pelo escritor e artista francês  Jean Giraud, sob o pseudônimo Moebius, publicado originalmente na revista Métal Hurlant, revista a qual Jean era seu co-autor. Tem como gênero a ficção cientifíca. Um dos personagens principais é Jerry Cornelius, antes de propriedade do autor Michael Moorcock, que em certo ponto liberou o uso deste. Quando a Marvel republicou a série mudou o nome dele para Lewis Carnelian.

Sinópse

A garagem em si é realmente um asteróide oco na constelação de Leão, em torno do qual Major Grubert gira em sua nave espacial Ciguri. De lá, ele supervisiona o desenvolvimento dos mundos contidos no asteróide. Várias entidades, sendo um delas Jerry Cornelius, pretendem invadir a garagem.

“Desenhei as duas primeiras páginas com a intenção de fazer uma grande piada, um mistério total, algo que, provavelmente, não levaria a lugar nenhum. E, mesmo assim, também estava tentando criar alguma coisa capaz de captar o sentimento de alegria e fantasia dentro de mim, quase como se eu estivesse relembrando a parte incompleta de um sonho. Após terminar aquelas duas páginas, coloquei-as numa gaveta e me esqueci completamente delas, até Jean-Pierre Dionnet, então editor da revista “Metal Hurlant”, as encontrar. Ele me pediu para fazer um fim, pois assim poderia publicá-las. Eu disse que desenharia para a próxima edição. No mês seguinte, ele me chamou e cobrou o final da história e eu, é claro, tinha me esquecido completamente. Então, em estado de pânico, fiz mais duas páginas para ganhar tempo. No entanto, como não possuía cópias nem referências das duas primeiras, o segundo capítulo foi feito sem nenhuma continuidade com a anterior. Foi apenas com a terceira parte que comecei a dar a direção à história e trouxe de volta o Major Grubert. Logo, eu decidi experimentar a criação do argumento como uma espécie de desafio mensal a mim mesmo, para resolver os problemas de seqüência introduzidos anteriormente. Ao criar este sentimento de permanente insegurança, eu descobri o prazer da continuidade. Todo mês,eu tentaria, com certa dificuldade, recriar uma trama coerente a partir dos elementos existentes. Então, as separaria outra vez para me sentir inseguro novamente e, assim, no mês seguinte, unir os pedaços e começar tudo de novo, até o final da história. Eu, finalmente, juntei todas as pontas nas últimas quinze páginas (feitas de uma só vez).Entretanto você notará algo: a história “termina” numa seqüência que introduz um fator de incoerência potencialmente ilimitado.” – Moebius sobre a Garagem Hermética.

There comes a time when one must regear. The mojo really kicks in and the same old same old is just not good enough. I’ve had it. I mean, The time came! Maybe it was due to daylight savings time and giving me that extra hour? Hmmm. Just thought of that one. . . . but I really think it had more to do with finally getting an exhaust fan installed in our only bathroom.

 Anyway. Non-sequetors aside . . . My master bedroom has needed storage AND completion since we moved in 17.7 years ago. The carpet and paint were new then. They are not now. The arrangement changed once from the bed on one wall to another. This time, I’ve wrapped my head around how it really would work best, and the bed will now be on a different wall altogether.

I guess working, raising kids, tending home and hearth, and working, raising kids, laundry, working, raising kids . . . . . didn’t give me much time to consider the Interior Design of my personal abode. AND this was once my profession!!! A sad state of affairs for one so young. heeeee. Oh, did I mention dimentia from raising kids? . . . .

I’m debating showing you any of the sorted (sordid) mess, but maybe just the great amount of paper recycling I’ve amassed for next Tuesday’s pick up!! Yikes. I feel like the hermit who stacked WSJ’s up to the ceiling in all rooms. Nope, just kid papers, PTA stuff, Church stuff, magazines, and old mail I thought I’d get back to. . . . nothing important. Thus the mega amount of grocery sacks!!

The before pics of the room may be forthcoming later — but only after I’ve finished. It’s just too embarassing! The paper goes to the back porch tonight to make room in our kitchen. We’ve gotta eat!

Also (now for the knitting portion), I’ve disembarked (removed from the needles but not yet frogged) one of my knitting projects that had been languishing on an extrodinarily long set of circular needles for an extrodinarily LONG amount of time. It’s in an extra large ziplock now awaiting sentancing.

methinks . . . no more acrylic . . .

I thought I liked the colors. It IS in my personal pattern and has been a necessary project so I can test-fit another size for addendum to my loyal (so far) fans. I just kept getting snagged — on the partial acrylic fiber made-into-chain-stitch yarn doubled-with-a-boucle. . . . it seemed like an adventure I’d wanted to take on. The color IS good and would be a nice casual blue-jean match. The darn thing just wasn’t working for me. It took me 10 months to figure this out! I guess I am a natural fibers snob. Hmmmph

Nibble Nibble

What if, I thought just yesterday, I made it in WOLLEMEISE???? For any of you who have not heard of this covetous fiber, you can just forget I said anything. . . . more for me on the next sneak up! But what a difference!! I’ve whipped through about an inch of over 500 stitches – about 8 rows, just today. I’m in love. I may finish tomorrow! My cat loves it too – the wool fiend, Twister, aptly named for her tail; but l like that her fetish is twists of wool too.

Gettin down wit da wollemeise

I’m using ‘Pillars of Fire’ as my choice of colorway. I had one skein and it will be just enough for my size Large pattern. For those of you wondering out there in ‘When is she ever going to post erratta or addendums’ land, I’ve added 48 MCO (moebius cast on stitches) which means a total of 96 in moebius land. I’ve also been writing on post-its with some minor clarifications and notes. I think the pattern is pretty sound as is, but tweaks will probably be added.

Posted I will keep you (channeling Yoda) with my bedroom and IPMW (that’s my pattern for sale up there and the co-actor of this performance) progress. I think they will both snowball and I’ll be into paint buckets and onto new needles by Turkey Day! I’ll probably be into more mischief too. There’s just no telling and one needs to use up ALL the mojo quickly just in case it decides to go to the Caymans without notice.

Now on to dinner and warming up some New England Clam Chowder! Knit on dudes and dudettes and cancel that mojo’s passport!!!  Calling the hubster now for a pick up of my fave libation. . . .

Bei Knitting Delight hat wieder ein KAL gestartet. Diesmal wird ein Moebius-Schal gestrickt. Dieser Möbius hat mich ja schon eine ganze Zeit angelacht, und ich hab mich noch nicht getraut, diese andere Art des Strickens auszuprobieren. Ich gebe zu, gerade die erste Runde hat es in sich, da fällt das Stricken zumindest mir sehr schwer, aber inzwischen habe ich schon ein beachtliches Stück gestrickt, und es gefällt mir sehr gut – wieder mal ein KAL, bei dem ich auch wirklich zeitgleich mitmache

Hier habe ich einen Zauberball Fuchsienbeet gewählt. Wunderwunderschön, wie ich finde… Zum Glück habe ich zwei von diesen Bällen – da kann ich diesen Möbiusschal anschließend ohne Reue verschenken, denn ich glaube, ich muss so einen auch haben

Natürlich habe ich auch noch ein Paar Fingerhandschuhe finger-up auf den Nadeln. Hier aus “Schwarzes Schaaf” von Ewa. Allerdings muss ich noch hintenrum in Erfahrung bringen, ob vielleicht der Daumen meiner Ma meinem gleicht oder (leider) größer ist… ich hab nämlich bei dem Daumen die 4 Reihen vom Steg vergessen – dadurch ist er etwas kürzer als in der Anleitung steht. Lange hab ich überlegt, ob ich ribbeln soll und mich dann zu erwähnter Taktik entschieden. Ribbeln kann ich dann immer noch.

Diesen Schal in Netzoptik und NS 5,0 hab ich auch noch auf den Nadeln. Etwas Einfaches, aber durch das ständige *1 M re zus, 1 U*  doch etwas eintönig. Das Resultat wird anständig sein, bei diesem Garn absolut kratzfrei und auch von empfindlichen Menschen getragen werden können.

Und ich habe noch zwei weitere Projekte auf den Nadeln. Überraschungen, die ich daher hier noch nicht zeigen möchte, sondern erst, wenn diese ihre Empfängerinnen erreicht haben. Da müsst ihr euch schon gedulden. D.h., da beide Empfängerinnen keine Mitglieder bei ravelry sind, habe ich meine Projekte dort schon mal mit den dazugehörigen Anstrickfotos verknüpft. Wen es von den Ravelryern also interessiert, darf gern schmulen gehen

Long time no update. But now I’m back, hehe, and right before NaNoWriMo.

I finished the Autumn Cowl over a month ago but failed to update it until now. (SLACKER!) I also started a pair of wristwarmers to match. here are some pics of the finished project.

Kenapa aku bahas Ultraman juga? Sebab ternyata Ultraman itu sudah melegenda sejak aku masih imut-imut. OK, kali ini adalah Ultraman Moebius. Menurutku film ini antara skala 1:10 aku kasih nilai 7. Lumayan, buat tontonan anak kecil.

Ceritanya juga tidak begitu rumit, mungkin memang tujuannya untuk anak-anak. Dan yang unik adalah beberapa ultraman muncul di sini, mulai dari Ultra Seven, Ultraman, Ultraman Zoffy, Ultraman Tarou, Ultraman Ace muncul semua di sini, jadi kita bisa bernostalgia.

Singkat cerita tentang Yapool yang akan mendarat di bumi untuk menghancurkan bumi. Empat Ultraman berjuang untuk menaklukkan Yapool. Namun mereka hanya bisa menguncinya, untuk itu mereka mengorbankan kekuatan mereka untuk berubah. Setelah beberapa tahun lamanya, bumi aman. Namun ternyata shield yang diciptakan oleh 4 Ultraman itu dirusak oleh monster-monster yang ingin menghidupkan kembali Yapool.

Akhirnya Ultraman generasi sekarang (Moebius) harus berjuang untuk mengalahkan Yapool. Dan hei, ternyata bukan hanya Kamen Rider yang bisa berubah, Ultraman juga. Ada bentuk Ultimatenya. Bukan seperti Tiga atau Gaia, ini beda. Seluruh Ultraman gabung jadi satu form. Keren pokoknya.

Why does it take 65 year old Dieter Moebius (ex-Kluster/Cluster and Harmonia) to produce a proper soundtrack to our collective futures? I mean, what are the bloody kids up to? It’s all very well them shooting hordes of robots dwarves on their I-Boxes, but shouldn’t they be connecting piles of analogue electronics together and providing us with a soundscape for what is yet to come?

As my vision of the future involves more than just a smattering of retro-futurism, and thus includes jet-packs and hover-cars, perhaps it’s a little unfair to criticise the kids in this way. Having said that, surely we all share a vision of the future that involves jet-packs? Hover-cars I’m not right bothered about, but there must and will be jet-packs – that much we must agree on. Right?

Ok, let’s put the jet-pack issue aside for a moment and get to grips with Kram. In short, this is retro-futuristic analogics at its finest. All sorts of machines warmly throb and pulse.  On ‘Schwizt’ and ‘Markt’ technologies are caressed with emotion until they verge on sentience. These washes of tenderness are replaced on ‘Lauert’ by slashed shards of sound that put you on edge and sharpen the senses. On the wonderful ‘Womit’ a soundtrack of the future city at night is envisioned, where only those machines essential to its 24 hour maintenance are left to pulse.

The standout tracks are the twinned ‘Rennt’ and ‘Rast’ – with ‘Rast’ distinguished only by the sense that the tech that seems so in harmony on ‘Rennt’ might break down, splutter out of power or develop into something more sinister. Plus they’re ripe for an Orbital remix – simply add a few breaks and you’ve got the bonus tracks for Snivilisation.

Fui deitar as 12. Rolei na cama até quase uma da manhã. Decidi: Vou ver um filme, pois estava esquecendo de desligar a mente pra ir dormir, vim pro pc olhar um filme. Não fosse o tempo perdido utilizado pra ver o filme, teria dito que não valeu a pena. Porém, como eu ando pra lá e pra cá no espaço virtual, no twitter recebi o link pra esse vídeo, que mostra o Sr. Jean Giraud MOEBIUS desenhando em uma Wacom Cintiq. Sonho de consumo pra qualquer ilustrador, do mais amador ao mais erudito. Não farei propaganda pois não estou sendo pago nem sequer tenho uma dessas, a minha é uma modesta Genius tablet 4×3. Perto da Wacon Cintiq é como riscar em um pedaço de papel post it com um pincel atômico. E como sou muito fã da arte do MOEBIUS posto aqui o vídeo. Se entrar no link do you tube aproveita e olha os outros vídeos de outros artistas em uma mesma feira desse tipo de coisa.

This psychedelic Western received mixed reviews upon its release.  Loosely based on the classic Western comic strip by Jean Giraud a.k.a. Moebius the film features Giraud in a cameo, uncredited appearance.  Although the film may ultimately betray its comic book roots and confuse the audience this clip clearly demonstrates the imagery is impressive.
