C’est à Mohamed Sifaoui, journaliste spécialiste de l’idéologie islamiste, et Philippe Bercovici, dessinateur (« Les femmes en blanc »), que l’on doit le buzz BD de la rentrée. Entre éléments réels et détails fictifs, « Ben Laden dévoilé » nous compte la vie du chef d’Al-Qaïda avec en filigrane l’histoire du terrorisme islamiste au cours de ces trente dernières années. Un album humoristique bourré d’informations vérifiées et vérifiables. L’objectif du scénariste ? « Désacraliser un terroriste qui voulait se construire l’image d’un prophète ou d’un messie et le réduire à sa plus simple expression, à savoir celle d’un vulgaire tueur commanditaire de barbaries ».

Vous êtes journaliste, écrivain, réalisateur et vous enquêtez sur le terrorisme islamiste depuis une vingtaine d’années. Pourquoi vous tournez aujourd’hui vers la BD ?

 Mohamed Sifaoui : “Pour toucher un nouveau public ! Au-delà de la simple bande dessinée d’information humoristique, l’album s’inscrit aussi comme un ouvrage de combat et d’engagement. J’ai voulu utiliser ce support qu’est la BD pour toucher un public plus jeune, moins politisé qui pourrait avoir envie de comprendre de manière un peu décrispée la réalité de l’idéologie salafiste et du terrorisme, version Al-Qaïda et Ben Laden.”

 Un public laïc, mais aussi musulman ?

“Oui bien sûr. Les musulmans gagneraient à comprendre la nature d’Oussama Ben Laden et son côté silique. Cet individu n’a cessé d’instrumentaliser leur religion, l’islam en l’occurrence, à des fins de pouvoir, à des fins obscurantistes. S’il n’hésite pas à envoyer de jeunes musulmans à la mort, en les incitant notamment à l’attentat-suicide, il s’est par contre bien gardé d’envoyer ses propres enfants commettre ce type d’attentat. J’aurais tendance à croire que les attentats-suicides, ce n’est pas si bien que cela, et qu’il n’y a peut-être pas de vierges au paradis.”

 La caricature a-t-elle été facile?

“Tous les extrémistes se caricaturent eux-mêmes. Quand j’ai eu à rencontrer à plusieurs reprises des intégristes, des gens totalement illuminés, j’avais l’impression d’avoir face à moi des personnages de bandes dessinées. La réalité est parfois tellement hallucinante qu’elle dépasse la fiction. Pour cette raison, le terrorisme islamiste a totalement sa place dans le monde de la BD ! “

Cet album sonne-t-il comme une bouffée d’air frais dans votre parcours professionnel ?

“Nous autres, démocrates qui rejetons la violence, nous avons aucune arme pour répondre à ceux qui cherchent à nous museler et à restreindre notre liberté d’expression. Nous ne menaçons personne, nous ne tuons personne, nous n’avons que l’humeur, cette manière civique et civilisée de répondre à ces illuminés qui nous promettent tantôt la mort, tantôt l’enfer. En contrepartie, nous leur donnons un peu d’humour et j’espère qu’ils sauront rire d’eux-mêmes… mais je ne me fais pas trop d’illusions !”

« Ben Laden dévoilé » est une BD humoristique. Tout le monde -ou presque- en prend pour son grade. Toutefois, si le chef d’Al-Qaïda fleure la caricature, il n’est pas vraiment tourné en ridicule. Pourquoi ? Par peur des représailles ?

“Non, pas du tout. J’ai tout simplement essayé d’être le plus proche possible du personnage pour le caricaturer. J’ai surtout voulu l’humaniser. Cela peut paraître paradoxal, mais je pense que nous avons tendance à diaboliser ce criminel, car il renvoie à ce qu’il y a de plus négatif chez l’être humain. Mais Oussama Ben Laden est un être humain avec tous ses défauts. Il est certes extrémiste, intégriste, mais c’est un être humain. Je ne voulais pas le rendre sympathique car il ne l’est pas. Je n’ai pas voulu non plus le caricaturer plus qu’il ne l’est déjà lui-même. “

Vous le présentez comme un homme peu intelligent…

“ C’est quelque chose de vérifié et vérifiable. Tous les spécialistes d’Al-Qaïda vous diront la même chose : le vrai théoricien et la véritable matière grise du groupe terroriste est Ayman al-Zawahiri, le numéro 2 d’Al-Qaïda. C’est lui le véritable concepteur des attentats au cours de ces dix dernières années. Ben Laden est la figure médiatique d’Al-Qaïda, mais ce n’est pas lui qui théorise l’idéologie salafiste pour la mettre en pratique et en faire une organisation du crime. Par ailleurs, Ben Laden est quelqu’un de très peu sûr de lui. J’ai rencontré un certain nombre de gens qui l’ont connu et tous disent qu’il est quelqu’un de très introverti, parfois timide, complexé et peu confiant en lui-même. Il a gagné en assurance après le 11 septembre 2001 et s’est construit une image médiatique. Il a surtout joué de son aura parce qu’il est Saoudien.”

 On sait qu’Al-Qaïda est une nébuleuse fort peu organisée. On cerne moins son amateurisme…

“Quand on analyse les attentats qui ont été déjoués ces dernières années, que ce soit en Europe ou aux Etats-Unis, on s’aperçoit que ces attentats ont souvent été évités en raison de l’amateurisme de leurs auteurs. L’amateurisme paie parfois. Imaginez, qu’avant le 11 septembre, je vous aurais dit que 19 terroristes munis de simples cutteurs auraient pu faire ou feraient ce que l’on sait. Vous m’auriez pris pour un fou ! L’amateurisme qui mélange un culot fou et un obscurantisme sans limite permet parfois à ses auteurs d’atteindre leurs objectifs. On n’est pas encore dans le mode de pensée occidentale. Si certaines personnes sont prêtes à se faire exploser, l’amateurisme peut aussi être meurtrier. On n’a pas besoin de sortir des grandes écoles militaires pour se mettre une ceinture d’explosifs autour de la taille et percuter un avion contre une tour.”

En BD, le nombre de pages limité est toujours un peu frustrant quand on s’attache à la vie d’un personnage. Dans « Ben Laden dévoilé », on monte à 100 pages. Le récit n’en est pas moins condensé…

“Ma principale exigence auprès de l’éditeur était de pouvoir tabler sur une centaine de pages. Pour ne pas faire trop de raccourcis et d’ellipses, j’ai voulu étaler le récit le plus possible. Ce qui m’a permis d’introduire un peu de fiction afin de décrisper le récit et de le fluidifier. De l’humour aussi. Evidemment, il n’était pas question de se moquer des attentats et encore moins des victimes. Avec Philippe Bercovici, on a bien tenu à préciser que l’on se moquait des auteurs. On a naturellement traité les attentats et leurs victimes de manière neutre.”

France Successfully Negotiates With Islamic Terrorists

Bernard Kouchner, the foreign minister of France, said Tuesday that whoever succeeds President Bush in the White House will have to restore the United States’ battered image and standing overseas, the International Herald Tribune reported.

Speaking at the launch of a Forum for New Diplomacy in Paris, Kouchner said the United States will never be the country it was before the Bush presidency and will have to work to repair its reputation, especially since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

“I think the magic is over,” Kouchner told the International Herald Tribune. “It will never be as it was before.”

He added that, although it will take time, the new president will have “many means to re-establish the image” of a country whose reputation is suffering.

Kouchner also discussed holding out hope of talking with Hamas, the Palestinian faction that rules the Gaza Strip but has been ostracized by the West and by its Palestinian rival, Fatah.

“We have to talk with our enemies,” he said.

What nonsense! Islamic terrorists do not want to talk … they want to blow you up or behead you on world television. Kouchner should talk to these guys before making such asinine comments!

This kind of stupid liberal thinking is exactly why France has had to be rescued by American forces several times in the past. They always want to talk to their enemies while their enemies are busy killing them (unless of course, they are too busy building nuclear reactors for sadistic dictators … thank God for the ballsy Israelis).

I and many other Americans have long since stopped caring what the sycophantic French think!

Is Great Britain Part Of The Problem ?

The Western world has been shocked by the discovery that Great Britain has raised two suicide bombers of its own: Asif Hanif, who succeeded in blowing himself up in Israel, killing three others; and Omar Khan Sharif, who didn’t (his bomb belt failed detonate) but who nevertheless evaded capture and is now on the run.

However, truthfully, no one really should have been shocked. Last week’s incident is not the first example of British subjects being involved in attempted suicide attacks.

After their interrogation of members of al-Qaeda, officers from India’s Intelligence Service now believe that there was also a plot to hijack a British Airways plane on September 11 and crash it into the Houses of Parliament. However, that plot failed because by the time the plane the chosen by the terrorists to hijack was scheduled to take off (5:30pm), news of the destruction of the World Trade Center had echoed around the world, and airport authorities grounded all flights.

Britain has, over the last decade, given refuge to a host of Islamic fundamentalists wanted for terrorism in countries around the world. Before the attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center in 2001, the governments of India, Turkey, Israel, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and yes, even France, had lodged protests about Great Britain’s protection of, and refusal to extradite, known terrorists. Those protests, however, were to no avail.

Men such as Abu Qatadar (who instructed both Richard Reid, the shoe bomber, and Zacharias Moussaoui, on trial in America for his part in planning the attacks of September 11) were allowed to remain in Britain, preaching, and often organizing, terror plots.

Qatadar arrived in Great Britain nearly a decade ago, claiming that he was fleeing political persecution. He was a known advocate of suicide bombings, and was wanted in Jordan for involvement in a campaign of terror. However, Qatadar was granted asylum in Great Britain.

Abd Samad Moussaoui, Zacharias Moussaoui’s brother, has described how Zacharias came to England from France in search of work. He was not a fundamentalist, or even a practising Muslim until he drifted into a south London mosque and started listening to Abu Qatadar.

Moussaoui’s example has been replicated scores of times. It may even be easier to turn Muslims in Britain into violent fundamentalists than it is to radicalise Muslims in, say, Saudi Arabia: those who already live under a fundamentalist state know from personal experience just how oppressive and destructive those regimes are.

Britain is currently the home-base of choice for extremist Islamic preachers, who now have a network of organizations dedicated to sowing pure hatred: hatred of the West, of democracy, and of the values of tolerance and freedom … the very same values that allow them the freedom to operate there.

“Your task against the infidel,” says one video distributed by the fundamentalists, “is to kill their children, take their women, destroy their homes.”

Successive governments in Britain have been warned in the plainest possible terms about the dangers posed by men such as Abu Qatadar, Omar Bakri (who says he “believes in the principle of establishing Islamic law . . . even if this leads to the death of all mankind”) and Abu Hamza (the one-eyed sheikh who lost his hand in an explosion, and whom the Yemeni government wants for bomb attacks carried out there).

Why were the warnings so resolutely ignored?

Before September 11, the British government seems to have held the view that Islamic terrorism affected Israel and the Arab countries, but not Britain … so Britain could afford to ignore it.

That turned out to be a tragic mistake. However, believing that Great Britain was somehow insulated from Islamic terrorism can only partly explain why the British government has allowed Islamic Terrorist leaders to flourish there.

Another important reason is the paralysis created by the fear of offending the Muslim community in Britain. That fear has induced a kind of institutionalized political correctness that has prevented the British government agencies from taking the vigorous action that is needed.

The fear, however, maybe completely misplaced. There are more than 1.8 million Muslims in Britain. The overwhelming majority are very clear that the violent fundamentalists do not represent them or their religion. They are not insulted if action is taken against firebrands such as Abu Qatadar. They know the difference between Islam and the vicious parody of the religion touted by the fanatics. To think that they do not understand the distinction is to insult their intelligence.

Yet that, in effect, is precisely what the British government continues to do. Its measures against terrorists here are piecemeal and ineffective. For example: the British government has outlawed al-Qaeda, and made membership of the organization an criminal offense, but it is still perfectly legal to belong to al-Muhajiroun … the organization to which Asif Hanif and Omar Khan Sharif belonged, and which has an ideology at least as militant as al-Qaeda’s.

The British Home Office justified that decision last week by emphasising the importance of distinguishing between “the peace-loving majority of Muslims and the tiny violent minority”. Yet members of al-Muhajiroun are manifestly part of the tiny violent minority, not the peaceloving majority. Who, apart from the British Home Office, confuses the two?

Furthermore, the British Home Office still refuses to extradite terrorist suspects. Bashir Nafi, who lectures on Islamic history at Birkbeck College, is wanted by US authorities for “conspiracy to murder, maim or injure persons outside the United States”. The evidence against him includes transcripts of his telephone calls, in which he allegedly discusses the finances of an organization whose goal is to create “terror, instability and panic”, and which has planned suicide bombings. Mr Nafi has not been extradited from Britain.

He has not even been arrested!

The British government has allowed legal complexities to tie up the process of extradition for years. Khalid al Fawwaz has been wanted by the US for his part in the bombing of its embassy in Kenya. The argument over whether or not to extradite him to the US had been going on for over four years. He has just now exhausted the appeals process (at a cost of £428,000 – funded by British tax-payers). The Home Secretary, however, has still not decided whether or not he will permit his extradition to America.

Mohamed Sifaoui, a French journalist who infiltrated a Muslim terror group and who traveled to London with them to meet “the boss”, said in an interview on British television that in his experience, “London is paradise for terrorists. They can plan terrorist attacks elsewhere, call for murder and spread the ideology of terrorism and live quite happily. It’s every terrorist’s dream.”

Unless Great Britain can end that dream, they will soon wake up in a terrible nightmare.

Wake Up America …Our Country Survival Depends On It

It is a matter of fact that when Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps he ordered photographs to be taken, and for the German people from surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps, and even made to bury the dead.

The Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has gone on record and stated that the Holocaust was a “myth” and that Israel should be “wiped off the face of the earth.” This is a frightening portent of the world we will live in, if we elect someone like Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton president. Obama is a man who has also gone on record saying that he will surrender to Islamic terrorists, and will likely pursue a policy of appeasement to radical Islam … much like France does. And France … is fast becoming Europe’s first Muslim nation!

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended; in which 6 million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900 Catholic priests were murdered, massacred, raped, burned, starved and humiliated while the German and Russian peoples looked the other way!

Now, with Iran, among others, claiming the Holocaust to be “a myth” and liberal democrats promising to pull out of Iraq and to surrender in the War on Terror … it is imperative that real Americans stand up and be counted .

Or … are you Americans going to look the other way why your Country is taken from you and turned into another France by elitist, secular-progressive, left-wing liberal socialists!

Why do you suppose Nancy Pelosi did not allow the House of Representatives to vote on extending the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and instead sent the House of Representatives home on vacation?

Les théories conspirationnistes à propos du 11 septembre sont nombreuses aujourd’hui, et je m’étais juré de ne jamais faire de publicité à ces imbéciles qui publient leurs rapports pseudo-scientifiques sur le Net.  Et encore moins quand une ministre de la République, Christine Boutin, déclare, sans plaisanter, qu’elle y croit profondément.  Pourquoi?  A cause du succès de ces thèses… (J’ai bientôt 1000 visiteurs sur mon site.  C’est à partir de quand le succès?)

Récemment à Washington D.C., j’ai eu l’occasion encore une fois de passer à plusieurs reprises devant le Pentagone, sur Washington Boulevard et sur l’autoroute 395, deux voies rapides qui font directement face au côté de l’immeuble que le vol 77 a heurté de plein fouet le matin du 11 septembre, devant de nombreux témoins.  Je me demande encore comment de telles insanités ont pu être dites sur le sujet.     

Je partage à 100% le désarroi de mon ami Mohamed Sifaoui, devant les propos ahurissants de Boutin.  Mais, au lieu de faire de la pub aux imbéciles, j’ai préféré essayer de promouvoir, à ma petite échelle, des vrais projets scientifiques, comme cette simulation extrêmement bien faite,expliquant la chute atypique des Twin Towers de NY – chute qui elle aussi a alimenté une polémique aussi débile que stérile:

C’est bien la structure des tours qui explique la manière dont celles-ci se sont effondrées.  Manque de pot, je doute que Thierry Ardisson donnera une quelconque tribune à ces chercheurs…
