Moi Dix Mois es una banda de metal gotico provenientes de Tokyo Japon que se formó en el 2002. La banda es el proyecto de Mana, ex-líder de Malice Mizer, grupo con gran fama dentro de la escena de Visual Kei. No es considerado una banda ya que Mana define a Moi dix Mois como “su” música, dicho por el mismo en una entrevista cuando dijo “yo soy Moi dix Mois”, Y segun evidencias de Mana, Moi dix Mois, no es visual kei, sino musica gotica, como se quiera representar antes de ser considerado un grupo de Visual Kei, tiene mucho éxito en la escena Gótica.

El nombre de Moi dix Mois es frances y su traducción literal sería «Yo diez meses» pero la más correcta sería «Mis diez meses». También tiene que ver con el periodo fetal que dura 10 meses, durante el cual un embrión se desarrolla dentro del vientre materno. Además, el 10 también es especial para Mana, quien es creyente del destino y de la numerología y considera el numero 1 como el principio, mientras que el 0 es lo infinito, lo eterno.

Moi Dix Mois se puede dividir en dos eras, la de Juka y la actual, la de Seth.

En la era de Juka, sólo había 3 miembros: Mana en la guitarra, Kazuno en el bajo y Juka vocalista, sólo Mana era oficial. Esta era se caracterizó más que nada por los marcados sonidos de varios clavicordios en combinación con un sonido de rock gótico con un ligero toque metalero que daba como resultado hermosas y poderosas melodías polifonicas.

Así Moi Dix Mois lazó su primer sencillo, «Dialogue Symphonie» el 19 de octubre del 2002.

Posteriormente, el 19 de Marzo del 2003, lanzó su primer album: Dix Infernal y el 16 de diciembre del mismo año, su primer DVD en vivo: Dix Infernal – Scars of Sabbath.

Al anunciar el primer sencillo de su segundo álbum «Shadows Temple» en mayo del 2004, Mana anuncia un nuevo integrante: Tohru, baterista de apoyo.

En julio del 2004 lanza su segundo álbum «Nocturnal Opera» y en diciembre del mismo año, Mana anunció a un nuevo integrante de Moi Dix Mois, ‘K’, quien poseía un gran talento para las death vocals y para la guitarra. Con K, Mana realizó su primer tour fuera de Japón cumpliendo su sueño de tocar en paises europeos como Francia y Alemania.

Al terminar el tour, Mana decide que Juka no es lo que necesita en un vocalista, quiere a alguien con más presencia en el escenario así que prescinde de sus servicios y Juka anuncia su separación.

Mana lanza el dvd de la gira por Europa: «Invite to Immortality – Moi Dix Mois Europe Live Tour 2005» en julio del 2005. Lanzamiento que marca el fin de la era de Juka.

La era de Seth inicia en marzo del 2006 cuando Moi Dix Mois lanza el mini-album Beyond the Gate y al mismo tiempo, Mana anuncia que Kazuno y Tohru dejarían la banda y que Seth sería el nuevo vocalista. Además de anunciar un nuevo sonido para la banda.

La era de Seth está caracterizado por ser más agresiva que la de Juka, el sonido de la música ya no es tan clásico, el clavicordio brilla por su ausencia, sin embargo, las guitarras son más potentes.

El 4 de octubre del 2006, Mana lanza el primer sencillo del próximo álbum de Moi Dix Mois: «Lamentful Miss» y anuncia a dos nuevos integrantes del proyecto: Sugiya en el bajo y Hayato en la batería.

En Marzo del 2007 es el lanzamiento de Dixanadu, el más reciente cd de Moi Dix Mois, y ya con la alineación completa: Mana y K en guitarras, Sugiya en el bajo y Hayato en la batería, inician su siguiente tour por Europa, en el cual habían incluído, además de Alemania y Francia, a España.

En abril del 2007, Mana aparece en la revista japonesa Fool’s Mate en una entrevista al lado de Amy Lee, vocalista de la banda estadounidense Evanescence, y deja ver que le agrada el estilo tanto de Amy Lee, como de Evanescence y que ella le parece una vocalista muy poderosa. Expresa haber asistido al concierto de Evanescence y que tal vez trabajaría en un proyecto al lado de la cantante.

La última producción de Moi Dix Mois fué el DVD de la gira por Europa: «Fated ~raison d’etre~ Europe Tour 2007» que salió en enero del año 2008.

Actualmente Mana anunció que se encuentra trabajando en la próxima producción de Moi Dix Mois y ya ha anunciado por lo menos 3 canciones de ésta: «Dies Irae», «Agnus Dei» y una última canción que presentó por primera vez el pasado 21 de marzo durante el Madou Gathering,
concierto que se llevó a cabo para festejar su cumpleaños como cada año.

Durante ese mismo evento (Madou Gathering); Mana anunció que para el mes de julio Moi Dix Mois  haría un tour en pareja con su ex-compañero en Malice Mizer, Közi, quien retoma su carrera de solista.

If asked three years ago if I’d expect La’cryma Christi to make a comeback, I would have said, “Hell no!”

Well I was wrong; apparently the band will be reuniting for the V-Rock Festival on 10/24. Now that doesn’t mean they will continue activities. The reunion is only for the V-Rock Festival, depending on the fans reactions will determine whether or not they will continue after the event.

What is the V-Rock Festival? It’s a visual kei event sponsored by Sports Nippon. It is a two day event which will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.

Honestly with a line-up like this, I’m tempted to go just for the two days to see half of these bands. I honestly didn’t know that half of them were still around either.

Manabu Satou. Mana has said that he started making music when he was in high school, at which time he listened to Mötley Crüe. Mana has rarely intentionally smiled or spoken in public.

The world’s largest visual kei show called V-SHOCK Festival will take place in Tokyo on October 24th and 25th. More than 50 bands will be performing!

When I am at work, a lot of clients would complain to me about companies discontinued a certain product that they are absolutely in love with. I never understand how it feels until now: Chanel has discontinued my favorite shine-control powder of all time!

Chanel Purete Mat Shine Control Powder is a pure oil control powder that comes with SPF 15. It gives you a very sheer coverage(almost translucent) and the powder itself is super refined. The sponge applicator that comes with the compact works very well too- one side is made to give you a very sheer finish, the other made for the heavier. I purchased this from a Chanel beauty counter from Macy’s two summers ago. That was right before my visit to Hong Kong- where I know I would definitely use it a lot there with the insane humidity and toasty temperature. Now I’m hooked and I want more. Oh yes, I still haven’t finished using the entire compact! It lasted me soooo long! I didn’t think it was super expensive either, compared to other Chanel products, of course. It is definitely one of the best shine control powder I’ve ever used.

I went to the official Chanel beaute site and couldn’t find anything similar to that powder, but they’ve got some shine control foundation powder though. Too bad I don’t need more foundation. Speaking of Chanel, I have really been happy with their products. I love the blue jean eyeliner and Teint Innocence liquid foundation! The newer concealer product that they came out with- called, hmm, lift lumiere concealer, is really great for those tired eyes. Its creamy formulation doesn’t settle into the lines at all, and it provides moderate coverage especially for those with heavy dark eye circles and puffy eyes(like me!). I was in love with that concealer when I was still in school last quarter….with the crazy work loads I say. Definitely recommend it! Oh and their cleansing milk is amazing for taking off any makeup without stripping your skin, it even works for a oily gal like me:)

Their new SPF30 sunblock is awesome, too! Feels super light-weight and non-greasy, it’s the best to put it under your makeup for that extra sun protection. My skin feels super soft after layering that on. Not to mention the simple and clean packaging too. Very classy and very Chanel;)

I feel like I am selling their products a lot, but hey, good quality products usually cost more. In the long run you will get the benefits a lot better than random makeup that you buy and did not like at the end. I always recommend trying out products with samples first. Nordstrom gals are super duper nice on that part! Just don’t take advantage of this service;)

VAMPS & Moi Dix Mois
I cannot believe that Moi Dix Mois went to Anime Expo this year. And it was only two weeks ago, in L.A. Oh my god if I knew they were gonna go AND to have a concert there, I would definitely fly down there. HOW CAN ONE MISS A CHANCE TO MEET MANA-SAMA? I almost burst into tears when I found out about this yesterday:( People almost posted videos on youtube: Mana-sama was right there in front of their eyes!!! One person even got all the autographs from members of MDM AND got to shake THEIR HANDS!!! Including Mana!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh man, I would cry if I even get to see Mana-sama in real life, like, standing right in front of me and making eye contact with me. Oh dear Mana..

On the other hand, I am going to watch VAMPS’ concert this Sunday!!! Hey at least I get to see Hyde in real life, that’s not so bad. He has always been one of my dream boys(japanese wise)<3 He is super talented and good looking too. Too bad he is 40 AND married. But omg I am going to see him in a few days <3 I'm super excited!

Well, here we are. A week after another Anime Expo, and the “after con blues” have set in. After becoming accustomed to having something to do 24 hours a day, for 4 days, returning to real-life is boring. As such, I bring you my review of Anime Expo 2009!

The good: It’s Anime Expo. There’s always something to do, and you meet tons of interesting people! The guest of honor line-up was good, too! Clicky! There were lots of concerts and dances to attend, plus tons and tons of cosplay!  Things I especially liked were the masquerade ball, the Claytime panel, and console gaming (woo Rockband every night!).  Of course, there was also the Indecent Otaku Comedy Hour panel which I helped out with by cosplaying the Shacho from DMC for them.  The panel was a hit thanks to the hard work of all those involved (How a Girl Figures, Anime Diet, Anime Genesis, Makenai). If you didn’t catch the panel, here’s my part on youtube!

The Bad: Certain events seemed very poorly scheduled, rehearsed, or planned out.  I think the best example of this was the Masquerade.  The many problems with the audio pretty much made the masquerade a joke this year.  I don’t know if the problem lies with AX staff in charge of sound or the tracks the individuals participating in the masquerade submitted.  Either way, one would assume that at some point, sound checks would be performed in order to ensure an optimal performance is given.

A particular pet peeve of mine:  kitsuke gone wrong.  I blame this one on the “vintage kimono” vendors in the exhibition hall.  I saw way too many girls wandering about in juban tied with obiage.  Kimono vendors should be knowledgeable about their product.  Instead of trying to make a quick buck, they should let these girls know what they are buying.  “Honey, this is a juban, it’s underwear.  That’s a lovely piece, and would look great under this kimono.”

I don’t know if the vendors even know enough about what they’re selling in order to truly help their customers. I was attracted to a certain booth because they had some gorgeous fukuro and maru obi on display (which were incredibly overpriced, by the way).  The proprietress  was wearing furisode even though she was way too old, and married, with  fukuro obi and no musubi.  She just clipped the obi on with a pin.  I asked her if she had any items with a chidori motif or nice zori, and she looked at me blankly.  I then proceeded to tell her that kitsuke was a hobby of mine, and that I was just looking for some good deals.  She pointed out their “bargain” bin, but I wasn’t about to pay $40 for a stained synthetic komon.  She literally knew nothing except how to spin enough BS to make a sale.  Considering the number of people I saw dressed badly in kimono, I assume she’s doing quite well.  I guess that’s good for her, but unfortunately her booth wasn’t the only booth events like this were taking place at.  Instead of becoming knowledgeable and educating their customers, vendors simply buy into the stupidity and cater to it.  It’s good for business, but it’s aggravating and drives prices up for people who actually know what they’re doing.

The Ugly:  Press affairs…. The Moi dix Mois concert.  Ugh.  We attended Anime Expo as press this year and wanted to go to this event so badly, however, we were not able to secure tickets.  Why?  Well, there are several reasons.  First- We were told that only a certain number of tickets would be given out per press outlet (2).  However, when we went to sign up for tickets, there were press outlets that had signed up 7 or 8 people.  At that point, we were told that the events were first-com- first-serve, and it didn’t matter how many people were signed up per outlet.  The staffer at press and industry affairs said we could buy an event ticket and then wait in line with everyone else, which we weren’t about to do since we had been assured we would have two free press tickets.  After the concert was over, another staffer told us that we could have waited for stand-by tickets, which would have been free.  We could have gotten in to the concert, but due to poor communication and uninformed staff, we didn’t get to attend.  I do not, by any means, expect every staff member to be be able to answer every question they are asked, however, a simple information sheet or a walkie-talkie for each staffer stationed in areas requiring specialized knowledge would help to solve communication problems such as the one I’ve described.

Another press perk gone awry was the press bag giveaway.  It was supposedly one bag per press outlet, however, we personally know one person who got a bag for each person in his press corps.  We asked around and discovered this wasn’t an isolated incident.  I know, I know, how uncouth of me to complain about a free bag.  The bag is not the problem, the problem is the selective application and liberal enforcement of the rules.   AX really needs to get it together when it comes to communication, and if a rule applies to one press outlet, then it needs to apply to all of them.  This is a very frustrating and unprofessional issue, one that I never expected to run into at an event so large and so well-known.

Nah, pasti bagi kalian J-Rock mania udah nggak asing lagi mendengar istilah Visual Kei maupun Oshare Kei, aku pernah membahas beberapa Japan band Visual, tapi, mungkin apa itu sebenarnya Visual Kei dan Oshare Kei secara rinci belum ya? Hehehe…yup, inilah saatnya (kenapa nggak dibahas dari dulu sih?! Ha-ha-ha…lebih suka bahas band-bandnya dulu sih daripada rinciannya…^_^;) ooosshh!!! ok! let’s see…

Visual-Kei

Bagi yang masih penasaran apa itu Visual Kei (walaupun secara umum sudah tau mungkin, tapi keterangan lebih lanjutnya seperti ini…) kalo gitu langsung aja deh, beberapa sumber mengatakan, kalau ­Visual Kei itu salah satu jenis musik (genre) atau sub-genre dari musik J-Rock yang musiknnya memiliki ciri khas tersendiri, berhubungan erat dengan glam-rock, punk dan metal plus penekanan pada gaya pakaian dan make-up yang eksentrik. Dan uniknnya dalam genre ini, fashion dan gaya bermake up dianggap sama pentingnya dengan musik yang mereka usung.

Visual Kei juga sering digambarkan sebagai gerakan yang dilakukan beberapa musisi di Jepang yang dikategorikan berdasarkan penggunaan make-up yang unik dan image yang flamboyant. Hal ini juga dihubung-hubungkan dengan make-up tebal, gaya rambut yang nggak biasa dan kostum yang rumit, lekat dengan penampilan androgynous, Ahya! Ada juga yang bilang kalo sering banget member dari band jenis ini sulit dibedain gender-nya, hehehe… karena cowok-cowoknya cantik-cantik (bishonen) dan… cewek-ceweknya malah bersuara kayak cowok… ehehehe…

Musik dari band-band Visual Kei mayoritas dikenal luas di kalangan pendengar musik underground atau indie, tetapi ada juga beberapa band yang berhasil mencapai kesuksesan di jalur musik mainstream. Musik yang ditampilkan pun terdiri dari banyak jenis, tipe/genre, dari pop, heavy metal, hingga elektronika dan lain-lain.

Ceritanya sih begini, Visual Kei itu penggabungan dari kata Visual (bahasa Inggris), dan Kei (bahasa Jepang) yang artinya ‘gaya’. Visual Kei (ヴィジュアル系, bijuaru kei) mengacu pada sebuah gerakan dalam J-Rock yang populer pada sekitar tahun 1990-an. Gerakan ini ditandai dengan band yang mengenakan kostum dramatis dan imej visual untuk memperoleh perhatian. Visual Kei singkatnya Vkei itu pertama kali muncul pada era akhir tahun 80-an, dipelopori pertama kali oleh band X-Japan dan band-band seperti D’erlanger dan Color yang kini dianggap sebagai band-band yang mengilhami lahirnnya genre Visual Kei.

Seperti yang udah ku bilang tadi, anggota band Visual Kei itu, sering memakai make up yang mencolok, dengan gaya potongan rambut yang dramatis, yang mengingatkan pada “pita rambut” tahun 1980-an dan memakai kostum yang sangat rumit. Walaupun sebagian besar musisi adalah laki-laki. Anggota band sering bermake up dan memakai pakaian yang dapat dianggap sebagai feminin atau androgynous. Pada akhirnya sebagian band kembali pada image warna – warni dan fantastik yang populer sekitar 5 tahun lalu yang diinspirasi game RPG dan anime.

Band Visual Kei yang diartikan sebagai yang utama dari gaya visual, tidak mengacu pada jenis musik tertentu. Mereka sebagian memainkan musik rock, hard rock seperti Luna Sea, Dir en Grey, Penicillin, Due’le Quartz, Plastic Tree, musik gothic dan neoclassic seperti Malice Mizer, Moi Dix Mois, Rentrer en Soi, D’espairs Ray dan Phantasmagoria, Light Rock dan Pop seperti L’Arc~en~Ciel, Glay, Shazna dan musik heavy metal dan Ballad seperti X Japan, Loudness, Buck- Tick, Sex Machine Gun, selain itu musik industrial, punk, dan techno kadang – kadang juga masuk ke dalamnya. Dengan mengambil genre dalam arti yang luas, sebagian besar memutuskan memainkan beberapa jenis musik rock.

Genre ini mencapai puncak kejayaannya di pertengahan tahun 90-an, bahkan hingga ke negara-negara diluar Jepang, terutama Eropa. Tetapi popularitasnnya mendadak menurun, tepatnnya di akhir tahun 1999 waktu Luna Sea bubar, Laruku memutuskan untuk vakum dan meninggalnya gitaris X Japan Hideto Matsumoto (Hide).

Memasuki era 2000-an, banyak band-band Visual Kei yang mulai bereksplorasi dengan musik dan gaya penampilan mereka, Visual Kei yang sebelumnya lekat dengan penampilan yang dark/gothic dan musik yang cenderung suram, belakangan terbagi-bagi menjadi beberapa sub-genre dengan musik dan penampilan Visual yang juga beda. Jadi bisa dibilang juga kalo sekarang itu udah ada berbagai macam jenis Visual Kei. Ini dia ada beberapa diantaranya, yang selanjutnya akan dibahas di bawah ini (kayak pelajaran aja ^_^;)

Oshare-Kei

Nah, Sekarang ke topik berikutnya. Udah pada tau Oshare Kei? Kalau Oshare sendiri apa? Kalau secara harafiah, dalam bahasa Jepang Oshare berarti pesolek/peraga (o-share o suru), namun seiring perkembangan jaman, istilah oshare sedikit bergeser dan lebih sering digunakan untuk menunjukan sesuatu/seseorang yang stylish atau fashionable dan berhubungan erat sama hal-hal yang trendy.

Kalau Oshare Kei itu merupakan sub-genre dari visual kei yang muncul pertama kali di Jepang pada tahun 2001. Musik dari band Oshare Kei, pada umumnnya menyatukan sound yang dipengaruhi oleh modern pop punk tetapi tetap mempertahankan ‘visual sounds’ (sounds yang merupakan ciri khas band visual-kei) seperti screaming vocal, fast guitar playing dan drum beats yang gila-gila-an. Musiknnya cenderung up-beat dan ceria, liriknnya secara keseluruhan, lebih focus pada hal-hal yang positif dan bersifat optimis, sering kali menceritakan tentang Cinta dan persahabatan.

Dan sesuai dengan jenis musik mereka yang ceria, penampilan dari member band-band Oshare-kei ini pun cenderung ‘ceria’ dalam artian fashion yang bertema colorfull, cute dan youthful. Menggunakan kostum dengan warna-warna terang & Trendy, sejalan dengan gaya street style fashion anak-anak muda Harajuku. Dan band-band yang dapat dikategorikan sebagai Oshare-kei band, diantarannya: An cafe, SuG, Megamasso, Kra, Eimy, THE KIDDIE, v (NEU) dan masih banyak yang lainnya.

Angura-Kei

Ada lagi nih, Angura-Kei (Underground Style) yang sering dikategorikan sebagai bagian dari Visual-kei, walaupun sebenarnnya Angura-kei/Underground Style ini sudah ada sejak era 60-an, jauh sebelum visual-kei itu ada. Kata Angura ini diambil dari penyingkatan kata “Andaruguraundo” atau pelafalan orang-orang Jepang untuk kata Underground… hehehe… [lucu kan… lidah orang Jepang kotak kali ya..? hehehe…^_^;]. Konsep dari genre ini pada pertama kali digunakan oleh perkumpulan teather-teather independent di Jepang yang berniat membuat sesuatu yang original dan bersifat “Japanese”.

Shibuya-Kei

Ada juga Shibuya Kei gerakan musik Shibuya Kei memadukan unsur musik jazz, fusion, dan musik tradisional Jepang.

Eroguro

Selain itu, masih ada jenis Vkei yang lain, Eroguro, yaitu band-band yang pada umumnya menggunakan shock visuals pada lirik, visual, serta pertunjukan LIVE-nya. Penampilan dari member band EroGuro juga tidak se-feminin member dari band-band visual-kei pada umumnya. Selain mengedepankan performance yang erotik dan mengejutkan ^_^;, band-band dari genre ini juga menggunakan humor sebagai nilai jual. Dan beberapa band yang bisa dikategorkan dalam genre EroGuro, diantarannya; Velvet Eden, Inugami Circus-dan, Rauya, Merry, MUCC, dll.

Tapi, sekarang juga sudah banyak lho band-band Oshare-Kei, wah, nanti tersaingi dong Visual-Kei band…walau begitu aku sendiri juga suka Visual-Kei dan Oshare-Kei, tapi masih lebih suka Visual-Kei berapaa perseen gitu… ha-ha-ha (berapa persen emangnya? Yeah! And with a sunburn and other such unfortunate events like getting sick… I went to Anime Expo and I brought home an internal souvenir. Almost better now, I had to concede and drink medicine because my fever got out of control. Anyway, I had a blast at Anime Expo. I met Mana from Moi dix Mois, and was the main reason for my sunburn because frackin’ autograph session was canceled to the next day, the 5th on sunday. So I sat in the sun, with no sunblock, and totally exposed myself to ugly UV radiation… I will not jinx myself anymore and keep the bad away and hope my “new” mole isnt new, but an overlooked old mole. >_> Well, Mana seems like a sweetie, but I am smiteful and bitter, so I won’t be listening to any of his music. I’ll upload the autograph later… And my shoulder is so itchy now because the skin is beginning to dry up… t_t And not to mention I was so fatiqued from waiting outside that my sickness got worse, and I had this terrible fever by the end of the day. Gawd! Was the signature worth it!? I DON’T KNOW! Although the concert was pretty fun….

Well, other than that, I am so unstable in my digital illustration class. Sometimes I do really good, I get A- and then other days I get like a C or B- …. It’s so… like a roller coaster! This class is so hard…. :| My instructor sometimes seems friendly, and then other times, I don’t really know what he means. >< And like… I’m doing work later for my writing for comics class, which I feel bad about because I can’t seem to do everything at once. Oh… I dunno.

Slowly working on my android girls. This is Android #2, and I saved myself some time and did it for a class assignment.

Since all of my friends that don’t listen to JRock think that every single member of every single visual kei/JRock band looks like a female, I’ve decided to compost a list of male members of these bands that actually do look like women. I picked a top five, but I personally only think the first three resemble girls. I could still tell that the last two were guys — even when I first saw them. But they do still have a certain girliness about them. On to the list!

I honestly didn’t want to put Uruha on this list, because I knew he was a man since the first time I saw him. The only “girly” thing about Uruha is the fact that he enjoys wearing skirts. Listen to the song “The End” by the GazettE to hear his voice.

Woo! So that about wraps up the list of sexy womanly men. Pretty much every other male JRocker out there does indeed look like a male. And if you don’t think so, you’re crazy and you’re not looking hard enough.

If you don’t know who they are…. try googling. Mana finally made his way into a place that is willing to put up with all his divaness and whatnot. As much as I wanted to share this news earlier, well, we all know how that song goes. But how weird is that Morning Musume and MDM in the same venue? The Nokia Theater no less?? You have to wonder what the BOD and GSC at AX is thinking right now, because even if Mana isn’t as huge as MM, he’s just as bitchy and greedy as they are, maybe even more so.

What I find most funny is that I thought that band disbanded years ago! I guess they just took a break from that big mishap some ass caused years ago with Mana, causing him to go to AX 2 years ago and do a “meet and greet” or something to ease the “pain” of his fans. 

Mana… you’re one ugly bitch, but people love you, and for that I am jealous! You get to rob people in so many ways, it’s almost illegal!

If you want to see them in concert go to Anime Expo official site and buy a badge and crap. Look at their schedule cause you never know, MDM could be doing a signing!

Then after check out Battle of the Bands @ 9PM, with a special guest this year (not as fun or as good as LM.C), but all you VK fans I guess can have have good eye candy? Not really. Their guest band is mediocore at best and hell I haven’t even heard of them till now! 

Jag jobbar för tillfället och det tar upp mestadels av dagen på gott och ont. Går upp 05.20 nått och är hemma 18.20 så det finns inte så mycket tid till att slösurfa och skriva blogg osv. Men jag ska försöka så gott det går iaf. Imorrn ska jag hänga med och assistera klinikchefen hela dagen och då blir det inte en lugn stund vill jag lova, hon har mer energi än 7000 Duracellkaniner så det kommer att gå undan.

Annars så finner jag det ganska trevligt att pendla ändå (åker tåg/buss denna vecka till min plånboks förtret), lyssnar ofantligt mycket på musik vilket var länge sen. Eller nja jag lyssnar alltid, men inte så långa stunder som nu. Det tar ändå 1,5 timme från det att jag här innnan jag är framme vid slutmålet, så det blir 3 timmars färdtid fram och tillbaka varje dag och det resulterar i 3 timmars musiklyssnande:)

Vilket har gjort att en IPOD hamnar högt på “att köpa listan”

Annars är jag trött som ett sjöodjur och hinner inte träffa E o N eller L så mycket vilket är tråkigt, men belöningen kommer i ett mer drägligt liv.

Normally, the interview of the week is always loved by the Tracks staff. But was our author aware of what she got herself into this time?

Today we’ll open the door to a secretive world. We’re having a talk with Mana, the man who never speaks. Small spleens are good for the business… Mana has more than one. He invented the Gothic Lolita Style, mixes metal with classic and jpop and connects big shoes with big theatre

Both seem to know the make-up artist of Marilyn Manson. Which big secret will he whisper to us?

K: ["Ee...watashi ga TI~NEJA~..."] As a teenager I was a fan of Mötley Crüe. They caught my attention in a magazine because they had an extreme style. I thought Tommy Lee was awesome, that’s why I really wanted a drumset. And my parents actually bought me one. ….. That is, what Mana says. ["..to moishiteimasu"]

Despite Tommy Lee, Mana did not become drummer or hair metaler, but guitarist and head of the Japanese cult-band Malice Mizer. The fans love the hard sound and the puppet-like appearance of the musicians. In his solo project Moi dix Mois, control-freak Mana carries artificiality, Gothic Lolita look and elegant posing to extremes. Everything has to be perfect — so he rather produces the clothes by himself.

K: I have opened the shop Moi même moitié in 99 with clothes for Gothic Lolitas. Because back then there was nothing that combines something cute with something dark, I did just that. On top of that, I don’t like short-lived trends. My designs are for people that look at it the same way. That is what Mana says.

And those clothes sell well. There are school girl lolitas with kilts and socks, sweet lolitas with frills and Elegant Gothic Lolitas with corsets in a Victorian style. All looks combine innocence and darkness. The fingers spread to the sign of Satan and a sweet smile on the lips… Through one country Mana’s craving for beauty is especially satisfied.

K: Once, I have heard a French pop song by Mylène Farmer. The sound of the French language has fascinated me. Since then I am interested in the French culture. …That is, what Mana says.

Unexpected things are hidden behind this cult. Not experience stories about black masses are being spread – no – in Japan, there’s the Gothic Lolita Bible with patterns for clothes and recipes for cakes with powder-sugar crosses. Mana and his fans just don’t let themselves be defined. Devil signs and baking orgies, frills and the evil eye… Maybe that’s why the characterisation of the perfect Gothic Lolita is difficult, even for its maker.

K: ["Eto sore wa..."] That’s the question of my life … That is what Mana says. ["to moishiteimasu"].

And so, Mana stomps – without whispering too much – back to his own universe made of bigger secrets and smaller gestures. Sayoonara, Mana-san.

Gackt is one of the most known name among those who are into the Japanese Music culture. It’s not that they’re fans, it’s just he has so much talent, does so many things and has shaped the music industry in certain ways that only Gackt could do. He has performed in English, French, Korean, Cantonese, and Mandarin on top of his native language Japanese. He was once in a band (Malice Mizer) with a member named “Kami” who had died due to subarachnoid hemorrhage (simply his brain bled, killing him) however, he was on tour at the time and found out a week later. He wrote two songs in memory of Kami “Emu ~for my dear~” and “U+K” He has released countless albums and singles in various bands and solo. He’s a vocalist mainly, but he plays other instruments as well. Of all of my favorite songs, “Orenji no Taiyou” by Gackt featuring Hyde from Gackt’s Creasant Album was definitely a powerful one. They had appeared in the movie Moonchild together, and while some people didn’t like it. I thought it was pretty good considering it was mostly famous people-not necessarily actors. It was a little disjointed, but it was a sweet plot and I loved the ending and opening, which this song was featuring at the opening of the movie and the ending, but the song is powerful and the scenes they play it in is just amazing. After you watch the movie it just sticks with you and you remember parts of what happened, and what otherwise might just be a good song, then becomes a song with meaning.

Mana is the creator of Elegant Gothic Lolita, people try to mimic the look, but the fact is it’s more of a brand name, so if it’s not from the Elegant Gothic Lolita brand, it might be in the style, but technically it’s not Elegant Gothic Lolita, not that I or the majority seem to really care, but I just wanted to point that out. No one actually knows what year he was really born in, I find that hilarious. He pretty much picks up whatever he wants and drops it when he feels like it. Don’t get me wrong, he isn’t a bad person, he’s a great person, which is exactly why he can do that. For the most part he doesn’t talk, he whispers in a band members ear and they talk for him. He claims that his voice is music and therefore he shouldn’t destroy it be continuously talking. Some bands he’s worked on are Girl’e, Matenrou, Malice Mizer, he found his own indie music label Midi:Nette then Mana founded his solo project Moi dix Mois, he created his own fashion lines “Moi-memê-Moitié which features Elegant Gothic Lolita and Elegant Gothic Aristocrat. He’s worked with Schwarz Stein. Currently he’s working with Kanon Wakeshima, who’s ending for Vampire Knight ’still doll’ is not only quite haunting, but so beautifully done. She is a cellist and a vocalist.

X-Japan was originally called “X” but they reached international popularity and ended up renaming themselves “X-Japan” in 1992 in order to make sure people didn’t get confused with the American punk band also called “X”  they disbanded in 1997. Though one song really stuck with me, even though it was way before my time, I had bumped into one of their songs and I just loved it. It’s called “Forever Love” and the song seems like forever, but it’s rather quite pretty. I was introduced to it via a fan made music video featuring “X” a series from CLAMP, but it also had Trigun and a couple other series in it, but I just loved the song. I felt it was placed with the animation so nicely. It’s funny how I react different ways to music depending on how I’m introduced to it. The song is 8 minutes and 41 seconds. Hideto Matsumoto died on May 2, 1998. After a night out drinking, he was found hanged with a towel tied to a doorknob in his Tokyo apartment. Three fans died in copycat suicides, of the 50,000 people who attended his funeral in Tsukiji Hongan-ji, nearly 60 were hospitalized and about 200 received medical treatment in first aid tents. While authorities deemed Matsumoto’s death a suicide, several of Hide’s friends and colleagues stated that they believed it to be an accident, among them X Japan co-founder Yoshiki Hayashi and former X Japan bassist Taiji Sawada. This notion is supported by the fact that no suicide note was left and Sawada theorizes in his autobiography, that at the night of his death, Hide may have been practicing a technique to relieve upper back and neck pains which guitarists can suffer from continuous use of a shoulder strap. The technique involved was practiced by the X Japan members during their touring days and required the use of a towel and a door knob or handle. According to Sawada, Matsumoto may have fallen asleep in his intoxicated state, becoming caught and strangling himself (wiki)

Morning Musume is an all girl group under the Hello! Project name. It’s quite strict and by strict, I mean ridiculous. The girls could get fired if they’re caught with another boy, and I’m just talking about holding hands down the street, or being seen with one. It originally started with Tsunku who created the idea for an all girl group. Originally they had come from a contest and there was only one winner, Michiyo Heike, who went on to be a solo artist, despite her being the originally winner of the contest, she didn’t do well at all. Meanwhile Morning Musume is still going along, having gotten less strong in the past few years due to the declining fad of Idols. The five girls who didn’t win had to sell a certain amount of copies of their single in so many days. They completed the challenge in a shorter amount of time than expected and Tsunku picked them up. All 5 members, Natsumi Abe, Ishiguro Aya, Iida Kaori, Fukuda Asuka, and Nakazawa Yuko. Through the years they’ve shifted members, none of the originally members are in the group. The only two still under the Hello! Project name were Natsumi Abe, Iida Kaori, and Nakazawa Yuko, however, as of March 31, 2009 the following members are going to be graduating, which is another word H!P pretty much uses for being fired, I only included previous Morning Musume members for the sake of trying to stay on topic.Nakazawa Yuuko, Iida Kaori, Abe Natsumi, Yasuda Kei, Yaguchi Mari, Ishikawa Rika, Yoshizawa Hitomi, Tsuji Nozomi, Konno Asami, Ogawa Makoto, Fujimoto Miki. That’s 11 people. Morning Musume currently has 9 members: Koharu Kusumi, Reina Tanaka, Eri Kamei, Ai Takahashi, JunJun, LinLin, Sayumi Michishige, Aika Mitsui, and Risa Niigaki. Their latest single is Naichau Kamo (I might cry)

Utada Hikaru, I adore her, she’s so incredibly talented and I have no idea just where to begin. She did the openings for Kingdom Hearts if you’ve played that “Simple & Clean” and  “Sanctuary ” the Japanese versions being “Hikari” and “Passion” they’re both really great songs. Not too long ago she tried to make it in the American market with her album “Exodus” but the fact was she got pretty much no promotion and the CNN news people compared her to Britney Spears? Really? Is that really supposed to be a comparison? Only in popularity, Britney has just a slutty image and Utada has such a clean image. It’s like comparing Mother Teresa to a homicidal prostitute, you just. don’t. do it! and I’m not calling Utada the perfect person and I’m certainly not calling Britney a homicidal prostitute, don’t get me wrong. Though if you rally listen to the music and realize what they’re saying and then look at their music videos and how they express themselves through wardrobe choices, you’ll see it’s like comparing night and day and that Utada never had to rely on such risque actions in order to keep a crowd, she’s talented on so many levels. It’s just so ridiculous to hear these terribly inaccurate things about her, she’s so nice. She’s coming out with another album in the US soon, why? Because she’s so talented and famous to the rest of the world she can try again. She’s bilingual (English & Japanese) she has virtually no accent when she speaks in English and her Japanese in flawless. She has such a strong, powerful, amazing voice. She started in 1993 and in Japan alone she has sold more than 36 million singles & albums, think about that, just think about that, in one country, that’s how many singles she’s sold. 36,000,000 the numbers… it’s impossible to really grasp it, and she’s not just known in Japan, she’s incredibly famous all across Asia. “First Love” “Automatic” “Movin’ On Without You” “ASAP” “Sakura Drops” and “Can You Keep A Secret?” are just a few of my favorites from her. I highly recommend her, and if you look on YouTube I’m sure you’ll find it, she does a rendition of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” by Green Day.

Ice Creamusume, this is a very recent event. They’re going to basically be, and I do mean on a very basic level, be Taiwan’s version of Morning Musume. They’ve already released a mini album, they sing in Japanese and Mandarin, since Mandarin is their native language. I can’t say their contest to find them was practical, some didn’t even have to sing during the whole process! How ridiculous, if you’re going to be a singer at least sing! But I must say I’m really happy with the people they’ve chosen, simply on appearances at the moment, but it seems like the one they call Guu-chan is incredibly adorable and seems to have a bit of a flirty attitude, but she can really dance. They redid Morning Musume’s Morning Coffee, Renai Revolution 21, and Go Girl! Koi no victory in mandarin and the rest were the original Japanese songs from Momusu. They do have their own song, the “In the Absence Of” song (I have no idea if that’s the real translation, I know some of the characters, I should figure it out some day) and the “Love Debut” song. From what I’ve heard, I must say I like the voices a alot. I’m impressed, especially for a Hello! Project group, I hope they keep and do more songs, I’m excited to see what they’ll bring to the table.

Tsuchiya Anna played the character Ichiko in Shimotsuma Monogatari (AKA Kamikaze Girls) I loved that movie, and I thought it was awesome. It’s where I first heard of Tommy Heavenly6 with their ending theme. Though I one day looked in the extras section and realized that Anna Tsuchiya had a music video, this was all news to me. I had no idea that she was a singer, but I must say it was one hell of a song. I loved it, after that I searched for more of her songs and was never disappointed, her music has this strange aura surrounding it that I can’t really explain. It’s really cool though, such as “Kuroi Namida” “frozen rose” “Imitation Night” and “Crazy World” which features AI

Tommy Heavenly6, she also goes under the name of Tommy February6, but that’s quite a different sound than Heavenly6, there’s alot of synth and what no in Feb6. She says her two names help to separate her personality. While Feb6 is more of a “I look like a good girl, but I’m really bad” while Heavenly6 is more of a “I look like a mean person, but I’m really not” not that I could really tell the difference, I’ve only listened to Heavenly6, it just sounds so much better to me. It has a darker sound to it, and they’re just good songs in general. She sings the song “Hey My Friend” for the popular movie “Kamikaze Girls” also known as “Shimotsuma Monogatari’ by those who recognize the Japanese title better than the American title. She tends to have ‘melancholy versions’ of her music, just off hand I know she has “+gothic pink+” and “Lost my Pieces” with their original versions along with their “melancholic guitar versions” which are just more relaxed, but at the same time a little darker, they’re still really good versions, just different. She also has a song called “Melancholy Power + +” I’m not really sure if she knows what the word means, likes or word or isn’t sure what else to use, but it appears she enjoys using it regardless of the real reason-if any. Her real name is Tomoko Kawase, Tommy comes from her nickname and February would be from her birthday. Her song “Pray” was used on and opening theme for Gintama (an anime series) “Papermoon” was used as the second opening for Soul Eater (an anime series) She has a song dedicated to PIkachu it’s called “L・O・V・E・L・Y ～夢見るLOVELY BOY～” It was also featuring on the ending of the 7th pokémon movie Destiny Deoxys. at the J-Wave 2000+2 music festival, she and the other Brilliant Green members dressed up in Hogwarts Uniforms due to her being a fan of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series.

OLIVIA Lufkin is one of the coolest musicians I’ve ever heard. I just love the ay she experiments with sounds and vocals and her timing is just so amazing. This is what being is music is all about- or rather, should be all about. She takes her music to the next level and doesn’t think “Is this going to be popular?” she thinks “How can I test the boundaries” not that there appear to be with her. It’s so amazing how someone could stay for as long as her while doing so much experimental music, because one would think it wouldn’t sell, right? Wrong. At least, with OLIVIA. She’s bilingual. she has released 3 albums, one of them being inspired by TRAPNEST the band from the Manga NANA, she has released six mini albums, “Trinka Trinka” being the most recent piece of work (and a mini album) she has released ten singles. She used to be in the group D&D which was a really pop sound, but then continued onto her own as a solo after 2 years of D&D going under the name OLIVIA. D&D continued after Olivia left but with the name “Aya & Chika from D&D”. she’s currently on the Avex Trax label under their “cutting edge” sub-label and writes most of her singles. I highly suggest ‘a little pain’ I do believe it was inspired by Nana and I recommend “Space Halo”. Not to mention “Trinka Trinka” is a really fun song.

Caroline, this her Olivia Lufkin’s sister. I found her on Amazon.com I searched Lufkin and this is what came up. I bought her CD Murmurs, and it’s actually really good, my favorite song being “I’ll Leave My Heart Behind” it’s a very pretty, calm, relaxing kind of song. She clearly has the same genes that Olivia did when it comes to being a musician. After she graduated she moved to Tokyo where she began working on a Japanese Album, however she didn’t like what they were trying to do to her music and quit. “they kept on telling me to change things and I didn’t want to change them… They were trying to make the music super-pop, and I couldn’t quite deal with it.” She was impressed with the label “Temporary Residence Limited” and sent them a demo and was signed on. she has a Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/caroline) This is how they describe her: “With an incredible gift for writing gripping songs from the most minimal elements – not to mention a voice that could make angels weep – Caroline’s music seizes the rare opportunity to hypnotize everything and everyone around it. And really, who in this world doesn’t want to succumb to a music-induced weightlessness every once in a while?” I think they summarized her quite efficiently.

So i’m doing the first really ran­dom post in Oshare Curry. I’m dis­cussing the opin­ions of myself, and another party who’s a bisex­ual male.  This is about KAYA, for­mer vocal­ist from Schwarz Stein/Rudolph Steiner. (Yes, another Mana Ven­ture gone awry)

I want to know as maybe a poll– exactly what peo­ple think of this per­son. We obvi­ously DO know his nat­ural gen­der, and thus say it’s a he. But when dis­cussing the likes of some­one who takes Moi Meme Moite and makes it look like high school musi­cal clothes, and does his own style (OPIONION ONLY, NOT FACT!)
