Are you shopping for a TAG Heuer Monaco? I was in the same boat 4 months ago until wife greeted me w

Are you shopping for a TAG Heuer Monaco? I was in the same boat 4 months ago until wife greeted me with a beautiful surprise on my birthday! As a passionate watch collector, I was completely in shock. Of all the watchmakers out there making automotive-inspired timepieces, TAG Heuer is arguably the leader. Make no mistake, they have been endorsed by some of racing’s biggest names and continues to produce some of the most lust-worthy yet attainable driver’s watches.

By the time you are done reading this review, you will have a better understanding of what to expect with your TAG Heuer Monaco.

I consider myself very knowledgeable and tasteful when it comes to collecting fine watches. Owning a TAG Heuer has always been on my agenda but for whatever reason I always thought they are catered towards the farthest reaches of luxury. Words like “sexiness” and “ruggedness” come to mind when describing the Monaco. It’s killer good looks and impeccable craftsmanship will certainly turn a few heads. It does not have the characteristics of a flashy, over-the-top luxury watch. Much more sophisticated then that and this what I love about TAG. They have mastered innovation and time.

Motor-Racing’s Coolest Casual Sports watch: The engineers and designers pulled all the stops with the TAG Heuer Monaco. Some of my favorite racing inspired features includes:

• Polished, nickel-plated hour and minute hands.

• A scratch resistant sapphire crystal

• Fine crafted steel case

• Precision dial with applied hour-markers

Passion For Advanced Design and Technology: Don’t let its looks fool you – the Monaco is built like a tank. This aint’ no hunk of plastic! The Monaco is an expertly designed watch engineered for phenomenal endurance and reliability. This is the watch that was built for the rugged lifestyle or as they would say, the “adventurous” guy. Talk about built to last. I’ve worn mine skiing, scuba diving, and through the Mohave desert without a hitch. The great thing about TAG is that, although they are expensive, they are build quality and reliability is second to none. I don’t see my watch being in the shop for anything – unless it’s a periodic battery watch.

Reactions to my TAG Heuer Monaco … I got to say, the TAG Heuer Monaco definitely gets the attention of women. I received several compliments on the green from my associates, and even had a few attractive young ladies approach me expressing how “sexy” it was. The Monaco is a perfect fit for the designed dream car lover and sports watch connoisseur.

Lives Up To The Reputation: I’ve been very happy with my Monaco. When you wear it, you instantly feel more confident and successful. Everything about the look and feel of this engineering marvel brings a smile to my face. The Monaco has been endorsed by some of the biggest names in racing, which brings instant recognition from other watch collectors. Their unwavering commitment to design and technology has made me feel a TAG fan for life. If you’re shopping for a TAG Heuer and want something with stylishly good looks and reliability, I highly recommend the Monaco.

Usually visitors from around the world come to the small little seaside towns along the coast for “the season”, which usually starts in May/June and continues until the last day in August.

In the winter months, a sleepy calm overtakes the cities and a blanket of silence envelopes the pristine area. Long gone are the loud and trendy nightclubs, airport rushes and tourist motor traffic. Yachts still line the harbors, but the people have seem to have jumped ship.

If you would like to explore the quiet side of the South of France, tour the area during the winter months. The weather is still very mild, with a slight chill at night requiring only a light jacket. From Nice to Monaco to St. Tropez, see a side of Europe that embodies a new view of the typical seaside resort.

Monaco

Avignon

Know for history and theater, the “City of the Popes” is filled with squares showcasing the many shops, restaurants and courtyards. A perfect way to explore Provence is to walk aimless through the old streets, and experience the local food and wine of the region. Hotel La Mirande is one of the four star properties in the region, and offers afternoon tea, a cooking school and the perfect central location.

“Cameriere!”
“Signore, Signorina, per favore, un espresso?”
“No – viiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiino!”

Vi invito, soprattutto, a vedere la faccia da alcolista che ha Lys nel chiedere Chianti, Chianti, Chianti, Chianti, Chianti.
Ok, ora che sapete posso andare a mangiare.

So, like I probably mentioned in an earlier post, I love the beach. It is my ultimate happy place, and the destination I think about when someone asks me “where do you want to go?” Nothing beats the beach. Sand, surf, sun, and fresh seafood. For me, the beach is synonymous with r&r. Here are of my top 3 favorite places around the world:

Venezuela

Venezuela: I might be biased, but these are the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever been to in my life… hands down. The sand is snow white. The water is crystal clear and just the right temperature. There’s tons of tiny little untouched islands everywhere off the coast, and you can pay a fisherman to take you out to them for the day. These islands are bare and theres nothing but just you and nature. These beaches are my kind of heaven. Most of my childhood memories from Venezuela are from the beach and our beach house in Higuerote. Margarita Island is also fun and a little more commercial and full of hotels. Chichiriviche is also a great destination. Also, Los Roques is supposed to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. These are the best kinds of beaches for someone that just needs to get away and unwind.

Molokini Island

Maui: You just can’t go wrong with Hawaii. I preferred Maui to Honolulu because it’s less commercial and more laid back. We stayed at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club, and our accommodations were amazing. The pool is nice but just forget it because a sandy paradise is just a couple more steps from your room. The only reason I went to the pool was to get a plate of fresh pineapple for breakfast at the pool restaurant every morning (heaven!). I remember the chef at the hotel being fantastic as well. We went snorkeling at Molokini Island, and it was one of the best snorkel trips I’ve ever taken. We saw tons of sea life in these reefs and even some sea turtles. Lahaina was the biggest town close by and its packed with great stores and restaurants and also offers a front row to the best sunset in Maui. I also suggest going on the roadtrip to see the waterfalls on the way to Hana. While the road is windy and at times scary the sights are worth it: Beautiful jungles and waterfalls and also you can go to some black sand beaches that will take your breath away. Watchout though: some of these beaches have extremely strong currents and undertow and can be dangerous. My only gripe is that Pacific beaches are at times a little too cold for my taste, but they’re beautiful nonetheless.

Nice, France

French Riviera: I studied abroad in Nice for 4 weeks one summer and fell in love with the Riviera. Again, these tend to be somewhat colder beaches unless you go in August. In Nice, the beaches are also stone beaches so I recommend buying padded beach pads or beach chairs. The cities of the French Riviera are not only beach destinations but fun sightseeing cities as well. Vieux Nice is the older part of town and is inhabited by lovely boutiques and enticing and delicious gelaterias. Two of my favorite museums I’ve ever visited were in Nice: the Musee d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain (MAMAC) (where I fell in love with Yves Klein) and Musee Matisse De Nice (he’s one of my favorite artists so I probably spent a good 3 hours here). One of my favorite things to do in Nice was to walk the Promenade Des Angles along the beach and then climb the stairs up to the viewing deck and then continue to the park . Another great thing about the Riviera is that the other towns are 20 minutes away or less by train or bus. Each has its own character and beautiful beaches. I recommend Antibes, Cannes (in late May you can see the town set up for the festival…very fun), St. Tropez (furthest away, takes about 2 hours, have to take a train then a bus), Villefranche Sur Mer, and Monaco. All these other beahes are sand beaches, and you can walk around the towns and see everything in a day pretty much. Monaco is a great day trip but a little harder to get around by foot so I recommend buying a pass on those tours that you can jump on and off. If you make it to Montecarlo, you must see the palace, go to the Jacques Cousteau Museum and go inside the Montecarlo Casion. You’ll need some identification to show you are over 18 and they let you right in during the day. I forget if you have to pay a fee at all but even if you do… YOU MUST GO INSIDE. It is best to go during the day because at night they enforce a black tie dress code.

These are my top three, but I also recommend anywhere on the Caribbean (love the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico), Cancun, Florida (Destin, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami), and Martha’s Vineyard (cold but beautiful).

In a great performance for Irish ultrarunning, Thomas Maguire won the Monaco 24hr with a distance of 248.39km. Good to see the depth of Irish ultrarunning increasing the last few years.

http://www.ultrarunningireland.com/live/news/797.html

Ireland’s Thomas Maguire set an incredible new Irish record of 248.392km (154.344 miles) to win the IAU-labelled Monaco 24-Hour race on 22nd November. Maguire’s performance is an elite Grade A standard and propels him into the top 5 in the world rankings this year.

The distance, which is the equivalent of running almost six full marathons in a single day, was also a new event record for the Monaco race.

The ‘No Finish Line 24-Hour Race’, staged on a 1km circuit at Monaco’s world famous port, proved to be a fascinating duel between Maguire, the Irish 100km record holder, and Emmanuel Fontaine (FRA).

The pair demonstrated fantastic mental and physical prowess as well as top class sportsmanship as they battled for dominance over the second half of the race. However, Maguire’s pacing strategy ultimately proved successful and he gained control over the final few hours.

Maguire ran negative splits and his time for the final 100 miles (161km), yet to be confirmed precisely, is also set to be an Irish best at the distance.

He was supported by former Irish Olympian Paul Donovan – and Fearghal Murphy. He was also accompanied in his efforts by Ireland’s Richard Donovan over the initial third of the race.

The IAAF World Athletics Gala took place on the same day in Monte Carlo and HSH Prince Albert II was at hand to give Thomas his winning ‘No Finish Line’ trophy.

His amazing achievement further boosts Ireland’s 24-Hour team for 2010, especially given Eoin Keith’s 5th place finish at this year’s World 24-Hour Championships. The next World 24-Hour Championships take place in Brive, France on 13th-14th May 2010.

Monaco Results

1. Thomas Maguire (IRL) 248.392km
2. Emmanuel Fontaine (FRA) 243.570km
3. Christian Leroux (FRA) 225.118km
4. Christophe Laborie (FRA) 213.850km
5. Robert Ludger Boewer (GER) 210.210km

Thanks to PUM reporter, Tony Mangan for the scoop. It’s also good to see the Ultra Running Ireland website developing very well.

None other than Usain ‘Lightning’ Bolt won the Male Athlete of the Year Award – naturally. Who can argue with 9.58 and 19.19?

No-one – ever?

Exactly. And we bet the big man is going to fulljoy himself next week at his 9:58 Super Party in Kingston – this is just icing on the cake of his superlative year.

The Female Athlete of the year was Jamaican-born US Athlete Sanya Richards, who finally snagged her first individual gold medal at the World Championships this year, fulfilling the promise expected of a woman who has the most sub-5o second 400 metres of any female in history.

Sanya said that seeing how her countrymen (the Jamaican ones, not the US ones) like Usain enjoyed their running, helped inspire and lift her to that first gold this year in Berlin.

Actually, just this month she was in the island for her third Fun 4 Kidz Fast Track programme event, which provides literacy training and extra-curricular activities for children in downtown Kingston high schools.

So big up yuself Sanya and congrats to all our island athletes both here and in the diaspora who continue to make us proud.

In case you are thinking of purchasing the new global version of Amazon’s Kindle for Christmas, be aware that there are still quite a few places that the global version will NOT work. I was disappointed to find that the new version still will not work in my country.

Apparently the new global version will only work in SOME countries. I thought it would be helpful to most expats to have a complete list of which countries it will, or will not work in (below).

It’s also interesting to note the PATTERN of groups of countries where the Kindle doesn’t work–some countries probably lack satellite coverage or delivery systems, while others probably don’t WANT readers to be able to download whatever they want by satellite.

In this article, we will look at the best Christmas gifts for the modern man, those men who value th

In this article, we will look at the best Christmas gifts for the modern man, those men who value their daily appearance and always want to look great. Gift considerations for these men are different than for the everyman. We will take a look at how these men differ and what type of Christmas gifts to get them.

I have previously written about gifts for the man termed the “Every Man”. These are those men who proudly fit many of the male stereotypes. The men who love games, barbecues, and beer. Often, these men are not hyper-focused on their appearance.

Today, we will take at look a different type of man, “the modern man”. The modern man may enjoy the activities and gifts of the every man but his interests are also unique. The modern man loves to look great all the time. You will not find an unkempt modern man as you would with the every man.

The modern man often lives in or near the city. He’ll be adorned in the finest clothes and a nice car. You will never find his house or apartment dirty, nor will you find him disheveled. Sometimes called a metro sexual, these men require different gift considerations. So, let’s take a look at the best gifts for the Modern Man that may not immediately come to mind.

Have you ever seen men’s facial moisturizes, fragrances, and grooming products and wondered who buys them? The modern man does; that’s who! Men’s grooming products are ideal for the men who want to look fashionable and fantastic all the time. Their bathrooms are filled with items to make them look great. Along these lines, you will want to consider all skincare products, wrinkle creams, and facial hair products. Clinique has an entire line of terrific products for the modern men.

The modern man also likes to smell great. While the every man may be content with his tried and true Old Spice, this professional uptown man has many a cologne in his arsenal. From Dolce and Gabbana to LaCoste, you will find all the name brands represented in his scents. Colognes make great stocking stuffers or Christmas gifts for him. You may want to consider a scented variety pack that will offer him a plethora of great scents to try.

This man also often excels in the kitchen. He may be unmarried or he married late to kick off his successful career. In this process, he learned how to cook and is a chef in his own right. New kitchen items will leave him extremely satisfied. From wine glasses, to cutlery sets, to fine coffee makers, any new great kitchen gadget will be applauded by this man.

When you think of the every man, you may picture him in his old comfortable boxers. Not so with this new type of man. You will not find him lounging in 5 year old boxers. He wears the best pajamas, nice robes, and latest boxer-briefs. There are great gifts to find in the sleepwear category for him.

Finally, consider the latest men’s fashion. He wears name brand everything. From stylish hip clothing, to classical ties, to Tag Heuer watches, the modern man looks great wherever he goes. Calvin Cline, Perry Ellis, and Armani are names he knows. Get him something in one of these fashionable categories and he is sure to enjoy the gifts that you get him this Christmas.

You can find all of these gifts on the Christmas Gifts for Men page at the Christmas Store Online.
The engagement filigree ring is the perfect choice for the bride who wants to pay homage to old worl

The engagement filigree ring is the perfect choice for the bride who wants to pay homage to old world charm, craftsmanship and style. These rings enjoy a lacy ornamental design that requires a medium to large band in order to have enough space for the wire work. Filigree rings were popular at the turn of the last century because metalsmithing was common and modern jewelry techniques were not yet developed. Nevertheless, the filigree rings of today have a touch that keeps them modern.

If you want a ring like this, look at all the designs you can find to assure it is truly a work of art. Some filigree rings are mass produced and would produce horror for the stylish woman who wants a design exclusive to her. She would not want to see her ring on the finger of another woman. Also, check your ring for sturdiness of construction, symmetry and precision of pattern. While the metalwork grabs most of the attention on a filigree ring, don’t forget to investigate the quality of the stone too. Ask your jeweler about the best way to clean and care for your ring. Because filigree rings are works of art, many jewelers will refuse to clean the work of another artisan. Finally, be clear about the return policy. An engagement filigree ring is created with the scale and proportion of the individual wearer and because it can’t easily be resized, you might be stuck with a ring you don’t like.

A soft bristle brush like a tooth brush, is best for cleaning the nooks and crannies of filigree rings. Be certain not to poke the fine pattern with a hard item like tweezers or pins in order to dislodge dirt and grime. If you are prepared to clean your engagement filigree ring more often than other styles, you should have years of enjoyment with your purchase.

Let’s face facts — buying a diamond engagement ring is one of the most important purchases that you will ever make. It will set the tone for your marriage, and may be more meaningful to you than the purchase of your first home.

Not only that, but buying an engagement ring is a big investment. Simply put, you want the best value for your money and you need to deal with someone that you can trust.

Fortunately, there are excellent reputable sources to buy discount engagement rings that will let you stun her with an heirloom quality diamond at a fraction of the cost. Don’t be tricked into paying for fancy diamond showrooms in expensive malls staffed by pompous sales people selling overpriced jewelery. Visit http://www.buydiscountengagementrings.com today and learn the real secret to getting more ring for your money.
