It seems the AGW establishment has launched an urgent damage limitation exercise in order to whitewash the Climategate scandal in time for Copenhagen."]

“Control oil and you control nations; control food and you control people.”

Henry Kissinger

The bogus arguments that Kissinger advanced were not original. One of his major sources was the Royal Commission on Population, which King George VI had created in 1944 “to consider what measures should be taken in the national interest to influence the future trend of population.” The commission found that Britain was gravely threatened by population growth in its colonies, since “a populous country has decided advantages over a sparsely-populated one for industrial production.” The combined effects of increasing population and industrialization in its colonies, it warned, “might be decisive in its effects on the prestige and influence of the West,” especially effecting “military strength and security.”

NSSM 200 similarly concluded that the United States was threatened by population growth in the former colonial sector. It paid special attention to 13 “key countries” in which the United States had a “special political and strategic interest”: India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Turkey, Nigeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia. It claimed that population growth in those states was especially worrisome, since it would quickly increase their relative political, economic, and military strength.

(…)

There were several measures that Kissinger advocated to deal with this alleged threat, most prominently, birth control and related population-reduction programs. He also warned that “population growth rates are likely to increase appreciably before they begin to decline,” even if such measures were adopted.

A second measure was curtailing food supplies to targetted states, in part to force compliance with birth control policies: “There is also some established precedent for taking account of family planning performance in appraisal of assistance requirements by AID [U.S. Agency for International Development] and consultative groups. Since population growth is a major determinant of increases in food demand, allocation of scarce PL 480 resources should take account of what steps a country is taking in population control as well as food production. In these sensitive relations, however, it is important in style as well as substance to avoid the appearance of coercion.”

[via http://www.schillerinstitute.org/food_for_peace/kiss_nssm_jb_1995.html]

By keeping everything secret, it “wielded immense power over credulous and unsuspecting foreign economies.” By the late 19th century, however, things began to change, and a new strategy was needed. Key to it was oil geopolitics as a vital naval supremacy ingredient.

Via Alternet

So this is what our tax dollars cum bailout paid for? Rewarding a company that ran itself into the ground with risky derivative trading who took up a side job fleecing the rural poor.

Middlesboro and Clinton are two tiny, impoverished towns in southern Kentucky with a combined population of 12,000. In 2008, Middlesboro’s per capita income was $13,189 a year, only a few hundred dollars more than the average worker earned in third-world Mexico. That is if they were lucky to even get a job. Real unemployment hovers somewhere around 30%, and the state is so broke that half the people eligible for unemployment benefits can’t receive them. Life may be tough and most people live in poverty, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be made a little poorer. That’s the lesson locals learned after bailed-out insurance villain AIG took over their water utility and instantly raised rates to squeeze an extra $1 million in profits out of its new customers, forcing some to consider choosing between running water and food.

They bought the largest privately held utility in the country. Meaning they were not subject to the same stringent standards as a public utility.

AIG had reason to be pleased with its purchase. Water utilities are one hell of a profitable business, with international corporations easily making a 20 to 30% profit margin, according to a 2007 report by Food and Water Watch. In the US, federal regulations limit profits to 10%, a pesky rule that companies easily subvert by shuffling their income around and “investing” it in side businesses. These kinds of returns would be the envy of the pharmaceutical and oil industries. How do water companies do it? According to Food and Water Watch, they charge 50% more for services than public utilities and pocket the difference, thereby unleashing the potential of the free market.

What is, for all practical purposes, a monopoly can charge 50% more than a public utility. What were people going to do, dig wells? Wells can cost a lot of money. As can any other practical alternative. So AIG could not lose. And when the credit crunch started and they were desperate for cash, they simply instituted a new “billing system” which was designed, in essence, to create revenues through late fees.

They never once offered to bail out the people of Middlesboro and Clinton.

If I believed in vengeance rather than justice, I would suggest a public caning for all involved in the creation of this disgusting travesty.

This time last year I’d just arrived in New York for a month to prepare for my move in March. I’d barely registered Thanksgiving, and fresh off the plane with nothing planned and no invitations forthcoming, I cheekily invited myself to a celebration hosted by a couple I knew a little but who were yet to become friends.

Orla, Rikki and their gang know how to have a party. And as the day drifted into evening most of us decamped to another apartment for a bizarre ritual called Games Night. Games taken too serious are completely unplayable. And in the version of Monopoly invented by the men in the group, every move, every acquisition was followed by complex bargaining as players traded properties with binding contracts attached. Us women, I am not ashamed to say, abandoned them to it, disappearing off to the bedroom to drink lager and gossip.

As a thank you to Rikki and Orla I sent them my interpretation of Games Night. Although the ever elegant Orla had sensibly stayed home, I nonetheless saw her here as the blond in blue. The impressionable brunette is of course me.

As a game designer, I work primarily with MMOs so I’m used to having sprawling, complex worlds

As a game designer, I work primarily with MMOs so I’m used to having sprawling, complex worlds to create and work within. For one of my classes this semester, however, I’ve been designing a board game and I’m finding it an unexpectedly intriguing challenge. The key difference? In computer games computers uphold the rules, whereas in board games players must uphold the rules.

This is a whole different ball game. In computer game design there’s a lot of “behind the scenes” stuff we can get away with, and just present the final data to the player in a nice, palatable form. Players in WoW aren’t required to calculate the effects of all their armor on their character’s statistics, the game does this for them. With board games, there’s no man behind the curtain. Players must be able to understand the rules enough to uphold them themselves, and so we are limited not only by the constraints of the human brain, but by the constraints of what people consider fun. As we see tastes vary in all games, the amount of effort people are willing to put into learning the rules of a game varies – most people at some point learn the rules to Monopoly, but a much smaller percentage of people learn the much more complex Dungeons and Dragons. Designing these types of games is an intriguing process precisely because of these constraints, and a worthwhile challenge for any computer game designer.

Manfred wrote:

The Quran is quite clear that Islamic paradise is a Muslim only “place” (for lack of a better description).

Paarsurrey wrote:

Hi friend Manfred

I don’t agree with you.

You have certainly misunderstood Quran/Islam/Muhammad.

[2:63] Surely, the Believers, and the Jews, and the Christians and the Sabians — whichever party from among these truly believes in Allah and the Last Day and does good deeds — shall have their reward with their Lord, and no fear shall come upon them, nor shall they grieve.
[2:64] And remember the time when We took a covenant from you and raised high above you the Mount, saying: ‘Hold fast that which We have given you and bear in mind what is therein, that you may be saved.’
[2:65] Then you turned back thereafter; and had it not been for Allah’s grace towards you and His mercy, you would surely have been of the losers.

http://www.alislam.org/quran/search2/sh … 2&verse=56

The above verse very clearly mentions that those persons who have the truthful beliefs and those who do good deeds suited to the situation and time would go to heaven. One who is a Muslim in name only and does not have good beliefs and or good deeds has no claim to heaven, it is purely the grace and the mercy of the Creator-God Allah YHWH, nobody else has any monopoly on the heaven; no intercession, nothing of this sort.

Please amend your concept accordingly. Yours is a very narrow and stringent concept; nothing to do with Quran/Islam/Muhammad, who are very open minded, nonracial and unbiased.

The holidays are here! It’s a time to enjoy family, hopefully a little time off from work and a time to shop for more things for others to be thankful for.

It’s also a very stressful time. We’ve got great expectations of what will be and should be over the holidays. Many of us are traveling from here to there and our sheer numbers in tight places make everything a wee bit more difficult. Sometimes we even forget about being thankful for each other and we slip into a wee bit of holiday rage. You know, that time when we may yell at a fellow traveler for taking up too much overhead bin space or trample our neighbor in an effort to the get that special Black Friday deal.

I love spending time with family for the holidays, but I am not a big fan of the traveling. For some reason United Airlines thinks it’s funny to repeatedly lose our luggage. Last year over Christmas our suitcase was delivered to us after 5 days, right before we turned around to fly back home. Well worth the $15 each way we paid to have it flown to Pennsylvania in the first place.

This time we flew directly to Pennsylvania from Los Angeles, not passing go, not collecting two hundred dollars. I really did think to myself, “what could possibly go wrong?”

Our bags were delayed. It’s a sad and lonely feeling when you’re standing at the baggage carousel, watching the bags come out and twirl around on the belt. The people you flew in with are collecting their luggage and going off to have their adventures while you continue to stand there, waiting. Finally the belt stops and you are alone, still waiting for a bag that isn’t coming.

In this particular instance it only took just over one full day for our baggage to arrive but we were put through the wringer by United’s baggage claim staff while waiting. There were several times I caught them lying to me and when I called them on it they’d punish me by placing me on hold for increasingly long periods of time. Finally, I heard from the delivery company that United contracts to and after being told all day that the delivery company is unreachable by the public I was informed that they are public and they were shocked to hear that I was told by United that I could not contact them. The reason why, I learned from the delivery company, was that my luggage had only just arrived with them, which was in direct opposition to what I was told throughout the day by United.

So here you read me telling you that I caught United Airlines as a company, through their employees, lying to me and treating me badly. In order to give them their say I contacted them, told them I was writing this and asked if they would like to comment, promising to include it here. My response was a form letter telling me how to go about filing claims for delayed or damaged luggage. Should they reply in person at a later date I will place their response in the comments section.

The moral of the story, I believe, is that people will continue to be people, not always nice, often only looking out for themselves. Companies do the same to an even greater degree, but we continue to deal with it to get to spend time with the people we love.

That said, there’s no reason we should continue to put up with such treatment from the companies that rely on our patronage for their continued existence. We should demand better and if enough of us do it then they will treat us well and make that time we spend with our families even more precious.

Happy Thanksgiving!

After a much needed and quite luxuriously uneventful weekend, I woke up to a Monday Writer’s Block. I don’t recall setting our Tivo to record that program.

In an effort to fulfill my promise to keep this blog fresh and sprouting with new ideas, I rewound the last 48 hours in my head looking for inspiration, and recited everything we DID NOT do:

- socialize

- play Bingo, Backgammon, Cranium, or Monopoly; not even Truth Or Dare

- go shark back riding

- stop global warming (instead we added to it with the multiple trips to local coffee shops)

- fly a monkey

- teach Cosmo to roll over, though he was so, so close

- get kidnapped by an Alien

- learn to speak Urdu, or Spanish (a tad more practical in Baja)

- buy a turkey, eat a turkey, nor visited Turkey

- make out with a dolphin

- solve a single math problem

- patch the four holes in our ceiling before the mice that I’m convinced live in the cracks of our building find out about the openings and decide to come visit

- climb Mount Everest, nor any other hill, not even a road hump.

None of that happened this past weekend.

Looking further for topics I could write about, I browsed through the thousands of photos we took over the last year and a half, to finally stop at the images of Jason’s nephews, Conor and Dylon, which I found highly inspiring… to procreate rather than to bluntly tap at a keyboard with two fingers.

It sounds like a whole lot of NOTHING. Let’s get one thing straight: an uneventful weekend does not mean a weekend free of events. (Wait, huh?) I did some squats around the coffee table during meal times in an attempt to tighten that rump. There was some folding and scrubbing going on as well as a whole lot of licking. Cosmo cleaned both of his front paws after a thorough and urgently needed bath (because what do the humans know about a good bath), while Jason licked his wounds after brutal couple of weeks at work.

One task I managed to complete was a Thanksgiving menu, and that was not a trivial accomplishment. I’m Polish, hence for me this holiday represents a day off, empty streets, and limited access to candy shops and movie theaters since everything closes early. Nonetheless, I wanted Jason to experience the same traditions he grew up with despite living away from his family – the turkey with stuffing and mashed potatoes with gravy, with a spoonful of cranberry sauce on a side and a wedge of pumpkin pie.

Therefore, I’ll be cooking up a storm and making him a Thanksgiving meal that will take him back the memory lane: pork loin with honey-mustard sauce and wrapped in bacon, mashed rutabaga with cauliflower and caramelized onions, blanched green beans with roasted garlic, and chocolate and orange brownie pie. I’ll be sure to snap a photo of each and every dish, and report back to you with recipes and about five extra pounds hung around my hips. I wish they would settle in my boobs instead. Sigh.

In the meantime, let’s keep it light and healthy. I’ll be BAHK with a fresh salad idea before the Turkey Bell rings.

Hoe kon me dit gebeuren?

Still playing….everyday for about 7 weeks now….it’s so damn addictive!

It’s good to dream sometimes…

Having said all that stuff, this is by far the longest engagement I’ve had with a non-digital age brand in the online space…ever.

I love how digital constantly breathes new life into old school products – and in cases like this (and the new Trivial Pursuit online game) enhances on the original experience.

When we talk about social media, we’re talking about Blogs like WordPress, livejournal or microblogs such as twitter. Or the multimedia networks like Youtube. And while thinking of those social media we cannot exclude the social networking sites like: Facebook, Myspace or Hyves. But what happens if we would make a mind map about gaining access to those different websites? All those mindmaps would probably include the word ‘Google.’ Because after all Google has become a conception over the last years.

Although there are millions of websites, they are all related to Google. But what is the effect of this monopoly? Because that is what Google certainly has. I feel free to state that: Google can affect many people and it can control the world wide web. The world most popular search engine owns 53 percent of the market share. Which means that they, more or less, reach half of the world internet using population. And this also contributes to the ever growing monopoly of Google, because advertising on Google leads to a successful advertising campaign.

Besides this advertising, there is another point of emphasis which helped Google. And that simply is: Google does what it has to do, the best. Finding sites, blogs or documents on the web. Simply enter a word in the engine and most of the times Google comes up with thousands, sometimes even millions of results. And due to their partnerships they are nowadays able to offer other products and software. And so they are a competition within other business sectors besides the one of search engines. Let us hope that the managing directors of ‘Google.inc’, do not have any world dominating ideas, because it would be a very easy task for them.

I know that I have been posting more than usual lately. Maybe it’s a sign of guilt over how I’ve been neglecting this blog in favor of my other online activities, including YouTube and Twitter. Those apps on Facebook and Myspace didn’t really help too much either, or maybe it is because I’ve overcome my very long case of blogger’s block and decided to take up the blog again. It is like what I said before, it’s time to get back to my roots.

Anyway, last night I went out to the latest play by the Ilion Little Theater Club, which is a musical based on one of the most popular board games of all time: ”Clue.” In this case, the play was a musical and it has been very popular with Mohawk Valley residents. In fact the first three shows last week were sold out and they had added an extra show because of the enormous popularity. It was also an interactive game in which the audience could take part, as though they were actually playing the board game. And I actually do have a confession to make: I have never played Clue the board game before, even though I have seen the movie they did back in the 80’s. The only time I play board games is Monopoly and that’s only when it is at McDonald’s.

Anyway, back to Clue. The theater also distributed sheets in which the audience could guess who the murderer is, where the murder took place, and what weapon was used based on a series of clues provided by Mr. Boddy, the victim. The night I went, it was revealed that it was Colonel Mustard who killed Mr. Boddy in the lounge with the lead pipe. However, that is not the actual ending of the play. Remember it is an interactive stage production so the suspects could change with each performance. I played along and I ended up getting the room where the murder was committed.

Okay, so I’m no Sherlock Holmes, but at least one out of three ain’t bad.

So anyway, like the week before, it was a packed house so I was lucky to get in when I did. The show was a lot of fun and I recommend to anyone in the Mohawk Valley area to go see this play. It is running again tonight and the extra show is Sunday afternoon in which two bucks will be taken off your admission if you bring a non-perishable food item which will go to a local food pantry. Just in time for Thanksgiving because after all, charity’s always nice.

And so I end this latest installment. So now I got some more things to worry about this week, like Thanksgiving and of course Black Friday (as in how I am going to get footage of Black Friday at work out and then put it on YouTube). Plus I got an extra day of work too.

So I hear there’s a Monopoly movie in the works. The fact that I heard it from Cracked.com doe

So I hear there’s a Monopoly movie in the works. The fact that I heard it from Cracked.com does not make the idea any less problematic.

Now, I enjoy Monopoly a lot. It’s probably my favourite board game (Cluedo can fuck right off). I know the secret little strategies, I know which squares you shouldn’t buy, I’ve even got out of jail free (with thanks to my lawyer, Quincy Rafter).

These days, there are so many versions of Monopoly that it’s getting ridiculous (some I’ve come across are King’s College and a knock-off set in Dartmouth). There’s even one based on post-war toy trains made by the Lionel company, which even I, a notorious train nut, think is a bit much. There’s a Belfast version, which primarily differs from the other versions in that the car is upside down and someone has shot the dog.

But for me, Monopoly is the classic London version. You know, the one that features loads of places that you’ve only heard of because they’re on the Monopoly board. Old Kent Road is brown, Mayfair is purple. This version was for a long time also the one used in Europe and much of the Commonwealth. So well-known is this version that it’s often erroneously assumed to be the first one – that’s actually Atlantic City. Me, I don’t like the updated versions. I like my Monopoly to be a little bit retro, with steam trains in the station and some ugly old lag in the jail (I call him Cyril).

Anyway, that’s my credentials as a Monopoly-enjoyer established. And I think the idea of a movie is just awful. The scenario is this. Our main character is a lovable loser who works as an estate agent (because everyone loves estate agents, amirite?) and is an enthusiastic Monopoly player who one day…

[PAUSE INSERTED HERE. SEE IF YOU CAN GUESS THE NEXT PLOT POINT]

… finds himself inside the Monopoly game! It’s krazy!

Kirk Douglas in the unsuccessful Pictionary movie.

Here’s the thing. Board games don’t make for great movies. This is because they are board games. They are designed to work as board games. They are not designed to be watched. Frustration is a good board game, a two-hour film about frustrated people would not be a good movie. Snakes and Ladders – actually, that would be a pretty awesome movie. But in general, my point stands. The only board game movie that really worked was Cluedo (or Clue, if you’re one of those Yankee types), and that’s because the basic plot of the game is a standard Agatha Christie-style detective story, complete with country vicar and retired colonel.

Monopoly’s premise, on the other hand, is that it’s about buying and selling property. If you’ve ever dealt with estate agents, you’ll know what incredible fun that is. Now, the director is Ridley Scott, so maybe he’ll pull something out of the hat and produce a completely amazing film and I’ll wind up looking stupid. But I maintain that it’s almost impossible to make an interesting film about land sales. Unless…

Success!

Okay, here’s the deal my friends: I have Angels who speak to me, we all know that, or at the v

Okay, here’s the deal my friends:

I have Angels who speak to me, we all know that, or at the very least you have heard me proclaim this over the years; and you have put my suggestions in your pipe and smoked them, or you have not. As an intuitive, I teach we must learn discernment, for this is what I myself must do, as I work with the unseen energies. Thus, it is a given, this is indeed, what we must do; heed the beat of own hearts. However, I cannot stress enough how adamant these Angels are being these days; in fact, they seem to be yelling at me (my human perception) about the vaccines and this flu game. I got news today from another friend in California, who states the L.A. Times is reporting that 55% of the population isn’t falling for this ‘flu game’! Yeah! We are Awakening!

I’ve been inundated with Angel energies around me for this past week or so, so much so, I was ‘barely’ available here in the 3D often. And now, out of the blue, a woman has sent me this video with Robert Kennedy Jr. in it; speaking to a group of people outside (I’m not sure where they are, it looks like somewhere in Washing D.C.), and he is stating loud and clear what these Angels have been ‘yelling at me’.

So, once again, I am going to tell you what I am hearing, as well as send this video to you all, and ask you to watch it. Most assuredly we intuitive types, receive these types of validations, sooner or later, since we are simply ‘able’ to hear various frequencies of information. (Besides that which the 3D presents as truth.) Thus, once again, here is my validation regarding mercury in the children’s vaccines and yes, this silly flu concoction!

We simply have to WAKE UP, that’s all we have to do, to stop this insanity. There is a government out there that has no interests, whatsoever, in your well-being. I understand this is a hard ‘pill’ to swallow. I get that! Yet, in that it is hard to believe, and that it hurts us to think these thoughts about our ‘free country’ —TRUST ME WHEN I SAY;we are being HURT far greater by putting our heads into the sand. These are our children and grand children’s lives that are at stake here! Are we truly willing to allow the corporations of this world to ‘kill their minds’?

There is no free country on the planet.

I think we are all beginning to see that now! There is a concerted effort going on, behind the scenes to create a society of weakened beings. (One can only imagine for what purpose.) However, we have the ability to stop this from happening. Surely others are picking up on what’s transpiring, at every turn around us these days. Unless we are truly putting our heads in the sand, we all can see the manipulation all around us. The Fat cats at the top of society are getting ALL the game pieces, while we worker-bees are told: do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars and go STRAIGHT TO JAIL. Oh, and while you are at it, throw in the house! . . . Can you say Foreclosure? Wanna play Monopoly anyone!

Please watch this video, and although it saddens the heart to ‘know’ these things, we can take a moment to weep, breathe in these injustices and transform these forms of ‘attack’ into our collective power and global strengths. Breathing in and transforming energies, is the FEMININE energy at work! Being fully informed is being fully balanced in our Male and Feminine Energy!

Therefore, allow me to ‘voice’ once more. The vaccines for our children are toxic! (In order to keep your children from them, they have made it difficult to do so. I know this—thus, you must home school! NOW do you see the manipulation?) These vaccines are toxic with mercury, in doses far beyond a small child’s ability to endure. Besides that, ALL mercury is toxic to the body! Why do some children seem to endure? It is simply because they come from a less affected bloodline, and they still have strong immune systems. Soon, all our bloodlines will be weakened. Surely you have noticed how ill our younger generations have become, especially here in the United States. Mercury is toxic to the brain, as is this concoction for the ‘fake swine flu’. It is made of 60% mercury ( they have ‘lowered the dosage of mercury’ but not completely). Wasn’t that kind of them? Hmm, I wonder why?

“Oh! But people are getting sick, Dawn,” you say to me. Indeed! Yes, people are getting sick! We have to remember a certain portion of society is already ‘under thought control’ as well as, they are operating from a weakened bloodline. There is a portion of society (through an inability to control their own thoughts) that will believe (therefore become) anything they read, or see repeatedly on the air waves, i.e. T.v. newspapers. And yes, they will surely be surrounded by ’sick’ people, because their ’scope of influence’ also believes this to be so. Remember, “as a man thinketh, so shall he/she become.”

This is a simple LAW of the this Universe, which quantum physics is now able to prove. Thank the Stars! This science is able to enlighten the masses, so they can finally grasp the power they possess at the level of their very own thoughts. How empowering is that? Once we grasp this law, we are able to take back the power over our own thoughts. It’s simple! Yet, almost too simple, therefore, hard to believe. According to male-dominate polarity, everything is hard to do, and accomplish; sadly, we have be raised, and therefore are addicted to male-dominate teachings. (See: What the bleep do we know? or The Secret.)

So here I am again, employing you to listen to your hearts; then share this information with your children and grandchildren, so they can ‘now’ make INFORMED decisions. Home schooling is, indeed where the Universe is attempting to guide us in order to get our children away from the ‘mind controlling’ system of vaccines, and the very ’schooling’ they receive that is ALL left brained dominate. These left brained teachings teach: hate, fear-mongering, there are enemies out there, go fight kill. Is this what we want to TEACH our Children’s children?

There is a number of our society, who awoke in the early 50 and 60’s, who ‘know’ these truths, but who have grown weary and too tired to revolt. Well this is GOOD NEWS!… Revolting, fighting, demonstrating, ISN”T THE ANSWER. The answer is to become INFORMED and to make INFORMED Feminine Decisions: Vote wisely, become involved to create a TRUE State of Freedom, make your choices wisely, take your power back, no matter HOW difficult the male polarity makes it. We can do this people, we can make this ’shift’ happen, by USING FEMININE ENERGIES.

Feminine energies are: Intuition, Nurturing, Caring, Midwifery, Healers, Psychics, Self-healing Techniques, Astrology, Numerology, Meditation, Love, and is Inclusive. The feminine energies, can be used against us, as are the male polarities at this time; if they become the dominate energy. We are the planet of duality, therefore our male and female polarities are meant to be in balance.

What’s transpiring now on the planet, is a coming together of both polarities and for the first time, planet earth will be balanced, this is why we are moving on our axis, this is why the north pole has been moving 200 meters to the ‘left’ (if standing at the pole)— the left side of planet earth and on our bodies; represents the feminine polarity.

Male energies that are used against us are: War, Fight, Kill, Control, Fear, Hate, Destroy, Lies, Deception, it teaches you, you need someone or some thing (drugs, vaccines) to ‘heal’ your self, it is exclusive, and separation. Yes, there are positive aspects of the male polarity; it means to take appropriate action!

Male, or the positive energy, is radiant, action, or sending energy. The female, or negative energy (not negative as in bad, but negative as in electricity) is magnetic, attractive, and receiving.

This isn’t a battle between this and that, they and them; this is the END, of a 26,000 year cycle. And the BEGINNING of a new cycle; where we will finally come into BALANCE.

But first we must choose to release our addiction to the negative male polarity we have been raised in, and embrace our Feminine Selves

Lovies Dawn Here’s the Video of Robert Kennedy Jr. Please watch!

My life here is beginning to resemble monopoly.

For a start I live in a hotel. A very nice hotel I grant you (in fact almost embarrassingly nice- I’ve started to worry that they might have given me too good a room by accident), but still a hotel. Every morning my drive into work takes me through a huge variety of Kathmandu from the very grand (definitely talking dark green or purple) the much less grand (brown /light blue) ending up in Naxal, one of the more ‘happening’ and fashionable parts of the city (probably an orange or pink).

Secondly there is always a chance/community chest element to my daily routine. The report I’m writing requires me to take a fairly wide view of the Nepali Criminal Justice system. For that reason I have been pestering all the various lawyers who surround me to let me them in some of their various dabblings with the Nepali courts. I never quite know how sucessful that pestering has been until, as if I’ve just drawn the requisite card, I find myself en route. Yesterday it was jail.

One of our fantastic translators appeared in my office an explained that they had secured me an interview with the Jailer of Kathmandu Central Prison. We travelled there by taxi and I have to admit I was surprised. I hadn’t known till we arrived where the prison actually was. When we got there I discovered that it is quite literally in the middle of Kathmandu. This is not some middle of nowhere suburb with an extensive fringe of walls and gates, it is a collection of moldering buildings behind a wall, in the middle of the city. In fact there is an expensive looking block of flats (doubtless the work of some monopoly minded tycoon) going up right next to it. I asked the jailer about the flats, he had objected he said, but no one had taken any notice.

I would love to know how an estate agent is going to sell that view to Nepali yuppies- ‘fantastic for serial killer spotters’, ‘an extensive vista of prison camp- watch nightly reruns of the great escape’, or maybe just ‘a tremendous opportunity for the community spirited- be an honorary watchtower guard’.

The jailer himself was charming (well as charming as a man whose job it is to preside over a failing prison can be) producing tea and being disarmingly frank in answer to my questions. The scene had its poignancy though- at one point a young German man appeared- his friend was in the prison- could he visit them with a bag of provisions. Strictly speaking visiting time was over, yet this man was clearly desperate- he was due to leave Nepal and his friend would be relying on him to supply essential food. In the end, with a curt nod, the jailer allowed the visit. This perhaps best illustrates one of the problems we encounter, just as my life begins to resemble monopoly so too are the lives of those who are subjects of the criminal justice system- as unpredictable and unreliable as if controlled by dice.

In contrast to the letter from the clerks at the Office of the President, those working for Governor Perdue have a much more coherent system in place for dealing with communications from the public. It may be a matter of scale. The population of North Carolina vs. the population of the U.S. Again, no slap at the current administration. I would imagine that system needs to be both streamlined and updated.

Govenor Perdue’s letter was addressed to both of us as individuals and the body of the letter noted specifics included in our communication to her.

And, bonus, she sent a cc: to the NC Public Utilities Commission.

Thank you Governor Perdue and thank your staff.

I know you realize the importance of supporting sustainable technologies and systems to the future of North Carolina. Our economy is struggling and developing a job market that uses or develops sustainable technology will have to be included in any recovery plan.

We have so many natural resources: kudzu, bamboo and hopefully sometime in the future hemp, that have a low impact on the environment and yet offer a lot of raw materials that self-renew. I appreciate that you support alternative energy and renewable resources, because you have the foresight to see what they offer.

Published November 15, 2009

Even as drug makers promise to support Washington’s health care overhaul by shaving $8 billion a year off the nation’s drug costs after the legislation takes effect, the industry has been raising its prices at the fastest rate in years.

In the last year, the industry has raised the wholesale prices of brand-name prescription drugs by about 9 percent, according to industry analysts.

That will add more than $10 billion to the nation’s drug bill, which is on track to exceed $300 billion this year. By at least one analysis, it is the highest annual rate of inflation for drug prices since 1992.

The drug trend is distinctly at odds with the direction of theConsumer Price Index, which has fallen by 1.3 percent in the last year.

Drug makers say they have valid business reasons for the price increases. Critics say the industry is trying to establish a higher price base before Congress passes legislation that tries to curb drug spending in coming years. …

There was a time, in America’s history when businesses had to be careful about raising the price of their products and services because competing businesses could gain market-share by being more price competitive.

But America’s price containment efforts and America’s monopoly rules never “set well” with America’s businesses. The concepts of price controls, usury and monopoly have finally been “laid to rest” by businesses’ long relationship with the neocons.

While it is unlikely that America’s health care business has the power that it would have in a “fascist” state, it does have the power to control much of America’s health life-style. And nowhere is that more evident than in the pricing of the industry’s products and services.

Currently, the health care industry’s pricing has no natural enemies so its pricing has grown. Even corporations need help with their employees’ insurance benefits. Can the health care industry crash America’s economy? The “business friendly” political environment of the neocons would likely allow it to try.

America appears to be hosting an “infection” contracted in the 80’s(neocons). The infection won’t back off – even as the host lay dying.
