I never knew I went around anticipating others’ needs until it was pointed out to me and not even in those words.

Maybe the words she used were “taking care of” others and I never thought of myself as taking care of others because I do believe that some people find me cold and honestly I just never attempted to analyze it. Didn’t see myself in such scenarios.

Also I don’t cook ;)

But what I do (I think) is anticipate. Before it happens. Under the surface. And this of course can lead to misunderstanding. I may be anticipating something that isn’t even happening. And it may lead to inauthentic behavior on my part. Not meaning to be tricky but… like walking around with an open heart: how can I help? how can I solve? Rather than just… following my path in this game called LIFE!

So when she told me that I needed to NOT own others’ stuff I drew a blank. How was I care-taking? She gave me some examples and a bell finally rang in my head. “Oh. That’s how. Oh. OH.”

While the Moon is in Aquarius, you too can have fresh insight (Uranus) into your emotional life (the Moon)!

Also, the Moon is trine Venus now and this feels good… although maybe from a little distance says Aquarius and Gemini ;)

And yahoo!!! the best news today is Mars direct :) I’m ready for him to move out of my 12th House into the light of day.

Find 3 degrees of anything in your chart and see how it aspects Mars in Virgo and consider how the Moon behaves (rationally? erratically? interestingly?)  in inventive Aquarius.

Something new is around the corner, possibly in your Aquarius house. It’s not a New Moon but Mars direct has a push and a fate behind it that I am finding hard to ignore. New roads, new wires, new connections and Thomas Edison is the lovely young man in the photograph who had his Sun in Aquarius.

The day begins with a Third Quarter Moon in Capricorn (The Moon enters Aquarius at 5:48 PM EDT). There’s a jumble of intense aspects today, and Mars stations direct at 11:53 PM EDT. It’s still time to finish with the old but get revved up for the rush of the new. The Moon squares both the Sun and Saturn early in the day so we may wind up feeling a bit frustrated, blocked or let down in some way. Since Mars is highlighted, and the Sun is in Aries, be on the alert for Martian-style expressions (and explosions). Temper tantrums and other forms of anger and rage, impatience, a desire to rush through things, assertion of individuality and independence, a pioneering and/or “me first” attitude may emerge today. It’s probably a good idea to steer clear of volatile situations and people whose timers seem to be going off. “Stay cool” is the mantra for today. Work off that antsy energy productively–throw yourself into a project; retool your day-to-day routines. The Moon in Aquarius should help us detach emotionally so we can see things through a clearer lens.

We finish out the weekend on Sunday with the Moon in Aquarius. It’s time to think about the future. If you could invest in something “newfangled” that would make caring for your home easier, what would it be? Oh, forget that. You don’t really need a new gadget. Just think about something you can do now that will make the future better. Forward thinking. Ahead of your time. That’s Aquarius! Make the change now.

I mentioned in last week’s tips that Aquarius is connected to air conditioning and heat pumps. If you’re supposed to change your air filters monthly but forget, change them during Aquarius.

The Moon moves into Pisces early, early Monday morning staying through midday Wednesday. These are excellent days to pay attention to aquariums, your pool (if you’re lucky enough to have one, invite me over), your home bar, and your cameras and video equipment. Photographers take note! Charge your camera batteries.

If you have space in your home devoted to meditation or yoga practice, that’s your Pisces space. Also, any space that is a little bit whimsical and otherworldly. I have a small collection of fairy statues that were given to me as gifts. They are so sweet and magical. But they need dusting. I’ll be escaping into a little fantasy as I spruce them up this year.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Moon moves into Aries and remains there through Friday. Ready to tackle cleaning the oven and really scrubbing down the stove? Now’s the time. Cleaning the oven is one chore that I can put off forever. It seems like every time I clean it, I cook something that spills over. Takes the thrill out, you know?

Saturday finds the Moon in Taurus for the weekend ~ a great time for cleaning or polishing anything made of copper, the metal of Venus. If you have coin collections or a secret stash of cash hidden away, make sure all keys and locks are working properly, so that your stash is secure, but available when you need it. Storage spaces of all kinds fit the Taurus need for plentiful provisions. Storage areas can get out of control quickly. Taurus days can help you get them organized. If you’ve been hoarding, make an effort to save only the best and get rid of the rest.

The Sun moves into Taurus on Wednesday, the 19th, and we have a New Moon in Taurus on Saturday. This will give you more than a few days to spend on bringing an extra bit of security to your home. Get outdoor security lights working properly, make sure window and door locks are completely functional and that you have a key deposited safely somewhere in case you lock yourself out. Think protection!

If you’re buying new furniture during Taurus, remember that quality not quantity will serve you best in the long run.

You can tackle a room at a time while observing the Moon:

• Aquarius ~ computer desks and any areas devoted to high-tech anything.
• Pisces ~ areas considered sanctuaries or private spaces for meditation and yoga.
• Aries ~ the stove in your kitchen, outdoor grills and firepots.

Big events this week include a change of Sun signs and the New Moon in Taurus. Mercury re-enters Aries on Tuesday. The fiery, adventurous Aries Sun will settle in earthy, luscious Taurus on Thursday at 12:12pm (EDT). The Taurus New Moon follows early Saturday morning, the 21st, at 3:20am.  Busy heavens!

The Aquarius Moon on Sunday finishes out the weekend on a social note. Tired of the same old same old? Follow the electrical impulses of the Water Bearer and do something different. Horse of a different color and all that. Keeping it fresh keeps it Uranian. Saturn holds the helm steady. Pick your partner!

Early Monday morning the Moon enters Dreamsville ~ Pisces ~ a great time to enjoy (not escape into) a little fantasy. Well…escape isn’t always so bad. We round out the month of Aries with the Moon in Aries at midday Wednesday. Monday picks up where Sunday left off with the Moon in Scorpio. Suit up in your best Superhero garb and trust the vibes you’re feeling. Carpe diem!

The Moon is waning now reminding us to wind down and start the process of release.

Two big events this week are related to Scorpio’s rulers, Mars and Pluto. Pluto turns retrograde on Wednesday, the 11th, only three days before Mars finishes his retrograde on Saturday, the 14th. Mars and Pluto are trining each other from the earth signs of Virgo and Capricorn. Dig for gold and bring it back to the surface!

If you work Scorpio to your advantage, the Sagittarius Moon on Tuesday and Wednesday should find you in expanded territory. There are no planets in Sadge now, but the N. Node is at 7°. The transiting N. Node contacting your natal planets can bring an external force exemplified by the transited planet to the fore. For example, if the N. Node is transiting Venus, a Venusian type person may be responsible for you taking a long look at relationships or money. Remember that wherever the N. Node goes, the S. Node is shadowing it. All transiting planets are visitors to your home who aren’t mamby-pamby with their opinion.

Moon enters Capricorn early Wednesday afternoon where it will meet up with Pluto who is turning retrograde. Easy does it. Are we feeling too much Pluto this week? That could make us a bit touchy-cranky.

Aquarius takes over on Friday evening giving us a social weekend. It will round out the week with a happy trine to Saturn in Libra. It’s feels good to feel good.

Easter Sunday has the Moon in Scorpio reminding us of the powerful transformative force available to everyone, no matter how difficult things can be sometimes.

In the gardening tips for this week, I mentioned resurrection plants like Rose of Jericho and the resurrection fern being associated with Scorpio. In the same vein, we can use blooming teas to symbolize our power to renew life. They would make a beautiful addition to any renewal ceremony or welcoming of new life. If you aren’t familiar with blooming teas, take a look at the video down below. It shows several gorgeous teas as they open into “flowers.”

If you find time for any kind of spring cleaning on Sunday, hold the intention that you are breathing new life into your home. Everything old is new again.

On Monday, the Moon moves into adventurous and philosophical Sagittarius. Is there a special place in your home devoted to religious, philosophical, or college studies? Spend some time organizing, dusting, and getting them ready to expand your knowledge and perspective. Any religious statues or altars you have in your home would also be a part of Sagittarius’ domain.

Capricorn parts of the home include mantles or shelves where you keep awards noting your achievements. Do those brass plaques need polishing?

Brick or stone areas and any place that has been abandoned or is in a state of decay would also be considered Capricorn areas. If you can get to those areas on Wednesday or Thursday, you’re in sync with the Moon. If you can’t get to the really tough areas this week, schedule them for Capricorn days in the coming months. Sometimes contractors must be called in to handle the really big jobs. Knowing when to schedule these jobs may help your efforts considerably.

On Friday, the Moon moves into social, future-minded and technically savvy Aquarius and stays there through the weekend. Carefully clean any high-tech gadgets making sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions. High-tech usually means “sensitive.” If you have a mad scientist inventor type in your home, their lab is an Aquarian spot. Do NOT try to clean it! You may get zapped by their latest gizmo. Aquarius is an excellent time to schedule air conditioning/heat pump maintenance.

The transiting Moon in Aquarius opens up the prevailing general mood to a detached stance. Coinciding with the Autumn Equinox in the Southern Hemisphere and the Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere this astro*climate could be helpful in planning your next bout of activity, as well as reflect on the past Summer/Winter. Take stock after sleepy dreamy time during the passing Pisces solar season and careening head first into a new solar year with Aries in the drivers seat.

Whenever I need to do any tecky work I try to wait for the Aquarius Moon, some how the intuitive energy of the Moon in tecky Dux Aquarius helps me press all the right keys, or find just what I’m looking for. Or perhaps it’s that extra detachment needed when dealing with sometimes infuriating computers and the abstract world of cyber space. It is the new frontier after all.

As this Moon escorts us from Sun in Pisces to Sun in Aries I wonder if it could be seen as a break through Moon..burst through the Neptunian clouds, marshaling the firepower of an Aries Sun to bring into consciousness anything you have been dreaming of yet perhaps not put into action.

We’ve reached the last degree of Pisces today, ready to spring into the Equinox (1:14 AM EDT), and Aries (and into action). It’s a new cycle, ready to begin, even with the retrogrades, so take some time out to review the “greatest hits” of the past few months (those themes may recur today) and to gear up for new and exciting things . The Moon is in Aquarius, emphasizing the theme of “new, different, unusual” early in the day (don’t forget that Uranus’ ruler, Uranus, is in the early degrees of Aries, so things could get really interesting). The Moon also trines Saturn, adding a serious hue to our feelings. Take it in stride if things don’t go as planned; curveballs are likely. Moon is in Aquarius: there’s a chill in the air to offset the dreamy Sun Neptune conjucntion, the Sun now in Pisces. Talk about dramatic! To enter your sign and crash into one of the biggies! But it’s a soft crash, a gauzy crash, the crash of the Mystic and the escape artist. Houdini would be proud of an aspect like this!

And what about this Aquarius Moon? Thinking before feeling? Thinking instead of feeling? Not necessarily. The Moon is what you need to feel secure. The Moon in Aquarius needs freedom to feel secure, to feel at home.

The Moon in Aquarius squares Jupiter in Taurus now, a fixed freaky square but we like the Moon and we like Jupiter so the only thing to fear is emotional (Moon) excess (Jupiter) itself which I think will check itself because Taurus goes slow and the Aqua Moon is gonna hold back, hold in.

Venus in Aries: is your love life on fire?

Mars in Virgo but retrograde: details are out of focus but which ones? (It’s your love life, isn’t it!)

Overall? I’d say it was a day to take it easy. And it’s not too late to make it a stress-free night.

As Neptune is the ruler of Pisces, this could be a dreamy day where we’re tempted to oversleep and loll about n a misty haze, but the best use of the energy is to let it open your spiritual and mystical side.  Creativity may be heightened, especially for you musical or theatrical types. Pay attention to your intuition. The Moon enters Aquarius at 5:28 AM EST and sextiles Uranus in Aries, so our daydreams may turn to brainstorms, showing us the path to the future. Be aware of larger trends and ways you can contribute to society or help the less fortunate. The standout event this week is the luscious New Moon in Pisces on Tuesday, the 21st, at 5:35pm (EST). If you practice making New Moon intentions, always do them during the dark of the Moon ~ that 2-3 day period preceding the New Moon. Engaging in a simple New Moon meditation helps solidify your intentions in your head so that you can make conscious progress through the month. I’ve found that the best way to work with New Moon intentions is to keep it really simple. There’s a dreamy, expansive feel to this New Moon. Very intuitive with messages through dreams.

Monday carries the wonderfully wacky Aquarius energy into the work week. Aquarius is a bit of a rebel at times, so if you feel the urge to call in to work and quit on Monday morning, give it some time. The Pisces Moon may set us all to dreaming about the perfect world where everyone is sensitive and loves one another, but is that real? Pisces hopes it is. Aries’ individuality and “my way or the highway” attitude can give the heave-ho to previous Piscean “we are all one spirit” thoughts. Make sure you have a physical outlet for the hot Aries energy so that it doesn’t erupt into arguments and emotional battles. Sunday’s Taurus Moon encourages us to slow down, take it easy, and just chew on things for a while.

Household and Gardening Tips

Aquarius is an air sign, so if temps allow it, throw open your windows and doors and let the fresh air flow! Aquarius can’t stand anything stale, so use this refreshing energy. If you can’t open the windows, set up a fan to circulate the air. The slightest breeze can renew a room. While you’re airing out the house, don’t forget to change your air filters. You may need to do this monthly or bi-monthly, and it’s easy to forget about. If you make a point of changing them when the Moon is in Aquarius, you’ll get on a schedule that’s easy to remember.

The New Moon in Pisces on Tuesday gives us about 2½ days of “down time.” Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac before the entire cycle begins again with feisty Aries. I had a wonderful talk with a friend recently about goldfish and fish tanks, which brought back really fond memories of when I had an aquarium in my house. I miss that. With the right setup, they really aren’t much trouble and they are so soothing. Naturally, Pisces the Fishes, is the absolute perfect time to set up an aquarium.  If you’re tempted, set up the aquarium, but wait a few days (maybe even a week) before adding the fish. That gives the tank time to acclimate itself so that it’s more hospitable to the fish.

There’s no gentle way to segue from setting up an aquarium to suggesting fish for supper, but…there you go. Another good reason to wait on adding fish to your tank.

Do make time for yourself during Pisces as this is an especially sensitive time during the lunar cycle. Emotions can run the gamut as we search for an anchor to feelings that rise to the surface. Baths, gentle music, light massage, and gentle exercise are all helpful.

Aries arrives late Thursday evening, leaving Friday and Saturday open for all kinds of activities. Activity is the key! Go where your spirit leads you. It’s also an excellent time to attend to your ceilings. Aries rules the head and accessories for the head ~ scarves, caps, hats. The ceiling is the head or cap inside our homes, so it’s a good time to sweep the cobwebs ~ a fast, little chore that makes a world of difference. If you need cutlery, now’s the time, as Mars and Aries are masters of knives and all things sharp. Dull knives can benefit from a little sharpening now, but do be careful!

If you know Taurus, those sharpened knives can come in handy feeding the hardy Taurus appetites. It’s comfort food time and a lot means A LOT! If you like to grocery shop on weekends, Sunday’s your best bet for stocking the pantry. Taurus is cost-conscious, likes to accumulate, but won’t short-change at mealtimes. Beans are also a Taurus staple and they always fit the bill for Taurus’ budgets. The northeast wall of a room is Taurus territory. Check ‘em out. Anything there need attention?

The Sun has entered the gentle, emotional sign of Pisces ushering out the last of the winter days. Spring is in the air! Not quite, but the warmer than average winter months has already got my sap rising a bit. Maybe it’s what’s known as meteorological spring, which is based on temperatures instead of the Spring Equinox. Whatever you call it, I’m feeling it. It’s tempting at this time of year to jump the gun and get ahead of ourselves. Gardens love patience, though, so patient we must be.

Aquarius rules the ankles in our bodies and, also, the ankles of plants. You know how some seedlings will sort of wilt or turn black just where they meet the dirt? That’s an Aquarius thing which seedlings may suffer from if planted during this sign. Just as we need to air out our homes, we can also air out our gardens. If you’re pruning, keep air space between the branches.

Pisces reminds me to put a bit of fish emulsion on the plants. They love it! Since it’s a New Moon, hold off on planting even though it’s the fertile sign of Pisces. If you’re thinking of adding a water feature to your garden, this is a good time to do some planning. What part of your garden would be most suitable? Would you like it serene and trickling or bristling? Is a bird bath enough or would you prefer a koi pond? Running water keeps the birds and other critters happy and cuts down on mosquitoes and other pesky, biting bugs that are drawn to still water.

We don’t often think of our roofs as being part of our gardens, but they contribute a great deal to our property values and curb appeal. The Aries Moon is an excellent time to get the heads of our houses blown off. Not literally, of course. Just the leaves. Don’t forget the out-buildings and sheds.

There are quite a few plants that belong to Aries because of its association with the planet Mars. One of those is a houseplant that many of us already have ~ the aloe. It’s a prickly edged plant that is one of the best things to have on hand for minor burns. Easy to grow, they love being potted in cactus soil. Mine started out as a puny, pitiful little thing and went wild. He’s about 3′ tall from soil to tip. This is it’s second home after the first transplant. He’s making lots of babies and loving my kitchen window where he gets tons of morning sun. (He looks better in person.)

The Moon enters Taurus at 9:36 Sunday morning. Have a ball! Taurus IS the garden and will appreciate anything you do for it. This is the best time to transplant and is excellent for root growth and all around hardiness. If you practice Feng Shui, a money tree might be the perfect addition to your money corner.

The standout event this week is Valentine’s Day on Tuesday. Whether we celebrate it, buy into it, or dismiss it, we’re all pummelled with it. There are some lovely non-Cupid activities abuzz around this time of the week if you’d rather focus on them.

Monday brings us a Scorpio Moon, full of intensity, passion, and a good smidge of revenge. What starts out as brooding thoughts on Tuesday could morph into a more lighthearted evening as the Moon moves into happy, open-minded Sagittarius where it stays through Thursday. We have Moon in Capricorn on Friday and Saturday, so seriousness and responsibility prevail. Cap isn’t all rules and regulations, though. There’s a dry, off-beat wit, too. Think Britcoms. We awake to an Aquarius Moon on Sunday which can lend itself nicely to participating in some new “off-beat” activities. Hey, you don’t know unless you try it, right?

Mercury moves into Pisces on Monday evening and will stay there through March 2. These are sweet talk days when the mind turns to poetry and music, a place sometimes beyond words. If your mind is searching, but fails to find its mark, you’re feeling the Mercury in Pisces vibe. Don’t worry about it. Wonderful things can ooze out of that nebulous oozy fog that will benefit you when Mercury enter Aries.

Household and Gardening Tips

If you followed the weekend’s Libra Moon advice to throw out your old beauty products and clothing that makes you not so happy with yourself, Monday’s Scorpio Moon is a fabulous time to drop off any recyclables ~ clothes to the local clothes closet or Goodwill, plastic bottles rinsed and ready for the recycling bin. We spend a lot of time in the bathroom grooming, so take advantage of the waning Moon period to open up your drains on Monday or Tuesday. Household plumbing and bathrooms are Scorpio domains so think clean.

We can’t deny that Scorpio is sex, so decide if you’re planning a red or pink Valentine’s Day. Red for passion. Pink for universal and self-love.

On the more sentimental side, light a candle or otherwise memorialize a loved one who has passed on. This is a very tender time, especially with all the Valentine’s hoopla. If you’ve lost your partner, these couple of days can bring some healing. As Tuesday’s Moon fades from Scorpio to Sagittarius, remember all the funny valentines you shared. Laugh, remember, heal.

The Moon spends Wednesday and Thursday in expansive, philosophizing Sagittarius. A great time for a seminar or even some streaming videos on world religions. The mind does two things during Sadge: opens and takes in new information or closes and becomes rigid and dogmatic. One will work better than the other for you at this time. Great debate time. If you have a fireplace, burn one of those creosote sweeping logs to help clean the chimney. Even if it’s too warm for a real fire, it’s never too warm to have a cleaner chimney.

Moon in Capricorn on Friday and Saturday is a great clock maintenance time. Set all your household clocks and wristwatches so they are in sync. Don’t forget the clock in your car dashboard. That’s one we tend to overlook until we get in the car and think we have more time than we really do.

The Sun in Aquarius on Sunday is an excellent time to change your air filters and clean up your computer files. You may want to save that for Monday, though, and spend Sunday socializing. Be a friend today.

What might seem like a quiet week in the garden can have you pulling out the liniment before the week is over. 

Carnations

You can plant perennials for abundance during Scorpio IF the weather allows. I picked up a small container of red carnations the other day and will get them in one of my planters during Scorpio. Carnations are not only hardy here in Zone 8, they’re popular. I grabbed a pot before they were all gone. Carnation is one of my favorite scents.

Here’s a great piece of gardening lore. Always plant your roses on Valentine’s Day. It’s certainly easy to remember roses and Valentine’s Day and February is the month to get them in the ground here in Zone 8. I wouldn’t advise planting them during a barren sign just because it’s Valentine’s, but with the Moon in Scorpio on the 14th this year, it’s not bad advice. Scorpio is a fertile sign, after all, and we’re in the waning period. Existing roses should be pruned between now and March 15th. Scorpio might help you remember “severe,” which is the kind of pruning they’ll need. If you’re new to pruning or squeamish about it, check out this article from the American Rose Society.

If you’re trimming trees, go for Moon in Capricorn. Louise Riotte, my gardening guru, says that wood heals well at this time.

Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday when the Moon is in Sagittarius and Aquarius are best for clean-up and weeding chores. February is the best month for cutting back your liriope and monkey grass before the new shoots start appearing. Because of the warm winter, mine are in great shape this year. Makes me wonder if it’s really necessary, but old habits die hard.
