Look to the wild blue yonder today.  The Moon’s still in Sagittarius and Mercury aspects both Jupiter (the ruler of Sagittarius) and Chiron, so our minds are open to perceiving the “big picture” and making important symbolic connections that can help us “connect the dots” in relation to larger issues in our lives. Think big!  With the Moon in harmony with the Sun in Aquarius and Saturn in Libra, if we don’t get distracted (or decide to run away to a far-off realm), we may feel as though everything’s flowing and we’re right where we need to be at this moment.

Let me tell ya, the energy I am feeling around me and “in the air” is so intense it’s a challenge even to this Moon Pluto person, partly because I feel it’s mostly not mine. If that’s possible. But I am receiving it.

Both Saturn and Mars retrograde feels like stuck in the mud but it’s not really mud. It’s a sewer. Sound like Pluto? Venus is square Pluto and I can unproudly say I was stuck in the Venus Pluto sewer yesterday, the worst side of this aspect.

The retrograde Mars and Saturn feel like “no ground to be found” — it’s all shifting, but shifting in the wrong direction, backwards: the past. Old issues, old traumas, old old old, which is Saturn’s province.

And the Pisces planets are fogging and confusing. Escape appears to not be an option.

On the good side… life cannot remain in flux forever. We do land eventually. The feathers settle.

Where I’m sitting right now is quiet and I am going to tune in to that. Even the cats are quiet. Outside a few birds. I hardly even hear any sound from my own house or the neighbors even. The weather is quiet in that gloomy no sun way.

I am a Moon Pluto person I say to myself. In the 1st House! I resurrect and I rebirth. You can cut off my head but another one grows.

It’s the process of growth itself that is often painful… especially when you can’t find the lesson. Saturn is retrograde. Lessons are on hold, meaning… the ultimate MEANING of it all, of this time period… we can’t fathom it now. But we will. Later.

I pulled a Tarot card and I got the Knight of Wands. There is movement despite the retrogrades and maybe that’s the discomfort. Life IS moving ahead while planets, energy are going back.  Can make you feel dizzy but this tells me not to leave the past behind. It’s not an option actually. We bring our whole selves with us every time.  In other words, integration.

The Moon’s in Sagittarius, so you might think things would be bright and breezy, but with Mercury connecting with Uranus, Jupiter and Neptune, Mars aspecting Jupiter, not to mention Venus square Pluto, we may be struggling to maintain our inner fire and optimism today.  It’s probably not a good idea to get in someone’s face today–you may feel you’re jittery or uber-stressed, but believe me, so are they!  We can mouth off or act up due to feeling ignored or undervalued, but what comes out of our mouths might not be exactly what we intended and the response from others may not be very enthusiastic.  Avoid power struggles with others an defer the big decisions to later.

Both of these symbols reflect the need for security and continuity in life, and the desire to protect or nurture things to that end.  A castle, a safe and an ancient bowl all are containers of some sort, to hold and protect what is valuable.  The violets remind us that life continues and is not static and that we must be careful not to let an excessive emphasis on tradition and guarding become stagnant–there needs to be room for growth. Happy Valentine’s Day!  Mercury conjunct Neptune in Pisces overnight may have brought us some sweet romantic dreams and Moon in Scorpio trine Mars in Virgo ups the ardor level earlier in the day. Today also brings us to the Last Quarter Sun/Moon phase, so be sure to finish up anything initiated at the end of January.  The evening is a mixed bag–the Moon enters Sagittarius at 7:56 PM EST and squares Neptune and Mercury in Pisces, so optimism increases, but the “I’m a happy wanderer/Babe, I gotta roam” attitude may not cut it when it comes to assuring your partners that you truly care.  Be clear about your feelings, as misunderstandings are possible. The standout event this week is Valentine’s Day on Tuesday. Whether we celebrate it, buy into it, or dismiss it, we’re all pummelled with it. There are some lovely non-Cupid activities abuzz around this time of the week if you’d rather focus on them.

Monday brings us a Scorpio Moon, full of intensity, passion, and a good smidge of revenge. What starts out as brooding thoughts on Tuesday could morph into a more lighthearted evening as the Moon moves into happy, open-minded Sagittarius where it stays through Thursday. We have Moon in Capricorn on Friday and Saturday, so seriousness and responsibility prevail. Cap isn’t all rules and regulations, though. There’s a dry, off-beat wit, too. Think Britcoms. We awake to an Aquarius Moon on Sunday which can lend itself nicely to participating in some new “off-beat” activities. Hey, you don’t know unless you try it, right?

Mercury moves into Pisces on Monday evening and will stay there through March 2. These are sweet talk days when the mind turns to poetry and music, a place sometimes beyond words. If your mind is searching, but fails to find its mark, you’re feeling the Mercury in Pisces vibe. Don’t worry about it. Wonderful things can ooze out of that nebulous oozy fog that will benefit you when Mercury enter Aries.

Household and Gardening Tips

If you followed the weekend’s Libra Moon advice to throw out your old beauty products and clothing that makes you not so happy with yourself, Monday’s Scorpio Moon is a fabulous time to drop off any recyclables ~ clothes to the local clothes closet or Goodwill, plastic bottles rinsed and ready for the recycling bin. We spend a lot of time in the bathroom grooming, so take advantage of the waning Moon period to open up your drains on Monday or Tuesday. Household plumbing and bathrooms are Scorpio domains so think clean.

We can’t deny that Scorpio is sex, so decide if you’re planning a red or pink Valentine’s Day. Red for passion. Pink for universal and self-love.

On the more sentimental side, light a candle or otherwise memorialize a loved one who has passed on. This is a very tender time, especially with all the Valentine’s hoopla. If you’ve lost your partner, these couple of days can bring some healing. As Tuesday’s Moon fades from Scorpio to Sagittarius, remember all the funny valentines you shared. Laugh, remember, heal.

The Moon spends Wednesday and Thursday in expansive, philosophizing Sagittarius. A great time for a seminar or even some streaming videos on world religions. The mind does two things during Sadge: opens and takes in new information or closes and becomes rigid and dogmatic. One will work better than the other for you at this time. Great debate time. If you have a fireplace, burn one of those creosote sweeping logs to help clean the chimney. Even if it’s too warm for a real fire, it’s never too warm to have a cleaner chimney.

Moon in Capricorn on Friday and Saturday is a great clock maintenance time. Set all your household clocks and wristwatches so they are in sync. Don’t forget the clock in your car dashboard. That’s one we tend to overlook until we get in the car and think we have more time than we really do.

The Sun in Aquarius on Sunday is an excellent time to change your air filters and clean up your computer files. You may want to save that for Monday, though, and spend Sunday socializing. Be a friend today.

What might seem like a quiet week in the garden can have you pulling out the liniment before the week is over. 

Carnations

You can plant perennials for abundance during Scorpio IF the weather allows. I picked up a small container of red carnations the other day and will get them in one of my planters during Scorpio. Carnations are not only hardy here in Zone 8, they’re popular. I grabbed a pot before they were all gone. Carnation is one of my favorite scents.

Here’s a great piece of gardening lore. Always plant your roses on Valentine’s Day. It’s certainly easy to remember roses and Valentine’s Day and February is the month to get them in the ground here in Zone 8. I wouldn’t advise planting them during a barren sign just because it’s Valentine’s, but with the Moon in Scorpio on the 14th this year, it’s not bad advice. Scorpio is a fertile sign, after all, and we’re in the waning period. Existing roses should be pruned between now and March 15th. Scorpio might help you remember “severe,” which is the kind of pruning they’ll need. If you’re new to pruning or squeamish about it, check out this article from the American Rose Society.

If you’re trimming trees, go for Moon in Capricorn. Louise Riotte, my gardening guru, says that wood heals well at this time.

Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday when the Moon is in Sagittarius and Aquarius are best for clean-up and weeding chores. February is the best month for cutting back your liriope and monkey grass before the new shoots start appearing. Because of the warm winter, mine are in great shape this year. Makes me wonder if it’s really necessary, but old habits die hard.

The Moon’s in Sagittarius, so emotionally we may long to be far, far away, but with the Moon square Venus in Pisces, we may have to attend to other people and their often changeable moods, fears and needs. Sun square Saturn makes us aware of our responsibilities and ties us down to earth. I could lob a few fuzzy new-agey platitudes your way to make you feel better, but there’s a good chance that today’s aspects will trigger feelings of doubt, fears of being trapped/obligated, questions about self-worth and the other fundamental underpinnings of life, and highlight our nagging concerns related to our relationships with others. Be realistic (but don’t be pessimistic), and give yourself (and others) a break today. Aim high, not low, and consider any hard work or struggle as an investment in your future.

Sagittarius is far and wide ranging in its pursuit of knowledge and the higher truth.  The mood is for adventure..experience freedom.

You know what? Sagittarius is an oft-misunderstood sign although probably everyone feels that way. Misunderstood. Do you? 

I’m thinking about Sagittarius not just because the Moon is in Sagittarius but the Moon in Sagittarius makes me review the Sagittarius that I have known throughout my life and damn it they’ve always been there which some may consider odd because I have a Cancer stellium which will inconjunct the Archer which can feel kind of itchy. I’m always the reticent one.

Sagittarius likes to roam, right? And Cancer likes to stay home, right? Sagittarius like to be free, freely freeing their freedom loving freeness!

Sagittarius no. 1: my best friend from age 12 until… well… until the time that I stopped talking to her. She wasn’t the one who left. It was ME!

And then there was Sagittarius no. 2, my first college boyfriend, my first boyfriend ever actually. He wrote me long long long long long letters and I broke his heart. Damn. No need to be sad though. He’s happily married with child. I think he’s my Facebook friend. Not sure. He’s never on there.

Sagittarius no. 3 – one of my good friends here in NYC. I don’t see her all that often but it’s because our lives our busy. Neither of us left the other. I love it when I see her – she’s family. And oof she’s DEEP (got Scorpio planets too).

And there are others but my point is this: you know what the secret side of Sagittarius is? They don’t leave. They fight to keep you (to varying degrees). And one could say: oh yes it’s the influence of Capricorn in their chart which can be a bit bullying ;)

There’s something of the puppy in them — no matter their um possible prurient interests or hobbies (found in some Archers) or how far and wide their travels take them. A Sagittarius who loves you is leashed to you. This has been my experience.

The Hindus believe that five completed cycles of Jupiter create a Brhaspati Cycle. One of the meanings of Brhaspati is Jupiter. Each 60-year Brhaspati Cycle was considered to be a significant timing for the world. One can tell that we are currently in a 60-year Brhaspati Cycle by the expanding consciousness that is happening worldwide. This expanding of man’s consciousness will usher in a significant event that will change reality as we now know it.

Our consciousness is raised through outer events and by way of our dreams. To understand how the soul works with the dream body, you must also look at the lunar, planetary and solar influences so that one can more completely determine what the soul is attempting to convey.

Sagittarius is influenced by the yang or masculine polarity. The masculine polarity produces mind and reason. Consequently, our mental processes may be exposed in the dream. Sagittarius is also a fire sign. Fire produces a cleansing action. Thus, the dream may reveal mental debris in need of cleansing which are being held in the undersoul. The undersoul is the container that holds all the debris laden thoughts, deeds or actions created by the lower ego and the subconscious mind that are not based on unconditional love.

The solar influence resides with Archangel Michael, the guardian of the Western Gate of the Law. In this solar cycle, (September 22nd through December 20th) we take on the karmic burdens of our past unknowing for transmutation. Dreams received during this timing will reveal more information about karmic energy or grace that is now ready to be released.

If one dreams when the moon is in Sagittarius, Jupiter may reflects one’s dependency upon others who walk with him on the path of enlightenment. If so, one will awaken resolved to put his symbolic instruction into daytime action and reality.
