It has a dual smoothing complex of Moroccan argan oil and Brazilian Phyto Keratin. The result is ultra chic smooth soft hair. The 2chic line is made of eight products for hair and body. My favorite in the system is the Flat Iron styling mist. This stuff works! You spray it on your wet or dry hair and your tresses are saved from the heat, and ready to be flawlessly smoothed. So be chic with Giovanni and smooth everywhere….

Hello lovely friends! Today I am sharing my very first monthly favorites post with you! I have yet

Hello lovely friends! Today I am sharing my very first monthly favorites post with you! I have yet to do a (insert month here) favorites post so I took great delight in selecting the products for the July lineup. I hope you enjoy

Essie Beach Party

I have been searching for the perfect pastel pink polish for awhile now. I wanted one that not only compliments my skin tone, but also does not require 5+ coats to become opaque. Essie Beach Party to the rescue! On a spur the moment shopping trip I stopped into a salon on my mall because they have a hidden discount polish display that I found earlier this spring. Sure enough, several Essie colors were for sale at a 40% discount. I swatched this particular shade on my pinky nail and was impressed with how creamy it is. It is beautiful, feminine, and classic

Seltzer

I once thought that seltzer tasted like wannabe soda with a watered down bland taste. My palate must have matured because I have grown to enjoy this bubbly beverage quite a bit. It provides fruity flavored fizziness without the chemicals or calories of soda. My favorite flavor is Raspberry Lime. I have also tried Cranberry Lime, Pomegranate, and Olde New England Seltzer’s Berry-Lime flavor, all of which were delicious! I highly recommend this as a beverage that feels like a splurge but without any of the consequences.

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden

This dear product is the result of the semi-annual-20-percent-off-your-entire-purchase-including-high-end-lovelies coupon (and breathe). I purchased Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin (I hate that name) in June 2010 and still have a considerable amount left after depotting it, however I prefer primers with a matte finish. Eden is the perfect answer to this request. This is a high-quality primer with excellent staying powder and applies beautifully. A little goes a long way so it is cost-effective too. This is tied with Benefit’s Stay Don’t Stray for the title of my favorite eye primer!

Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil

This product was a pre-camping purchase for me in late June. I wanted to bring a product that would condition and add softness to my hair without having a fruity scent that would otherwise attract insects. In all honesty I did not have much expectation for this product to perform well, but it pleasantly surprised me and turned out to be a quality oil! I have been using this daily for a few weeks now and I truly think it provides much of the same benefits as the much more expensive authentic Moroccan Oil. If you have been curious about the wonders of the luxurious counterpart, definitely give this a try! I purchased the trial size because I only use a pea-size or two per side (when hair is parted on either side of my head). It can be found for a few dollars at Ulta

Covergirl Cheekers Blush in True Plum

I have never really been a blush-wearer, until now. I bought this plummy blush on a whim while at Target with a friend last month because it is different than any other shade that I had tried before. I was hesitant because I thought it might clash with my skintone but instead it showed me that plum blushes are a nice compliment to my yellow-undertones. The product is pigmented, has a clean scent, and it under $4 at Tar-jay. Thank you CG cheekers for leading me down the pretty-and-rosy cheeked path.

Terax Original Crema

Oh.my.gosh. To date I have never experienced a conditioner that leaves my hair as soft and weightless as this one. I heard a rave review about this product in 2009 and proceeded to scour every clearance hair bin in the area for the following three years. After years of disapoinment, this beauty appeared on a hidden clearance shelf at Ulta in May. I use a dime-sized dab of this every other day, applying it liberally on the ends of my hair and gradually working up to a bit on the nape of my neck.

Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara

I am typically a drugstore mascara girl all the way, but this mascara has spoiled me into having clean-looking, separated, full lashes with just a few swipes of the perfectly-sized applicator. The only complaint that I have is that the smell is a bit strong, but seriously most mascaras do not smell like roses if you ask me. This mascara does not flake when applied to my bottom lashes, which is a luxurious quality for me because I have no desire to look like a raccoon after a few hours of wear. If you are willing to invest in this gem, I highly suggest it because it is buildable, non-clumping, and creates full lashes without any hassle.

L’Oreal Colour Riche Balm in Heavenly Berry

Oh L’Oreal tinted balm how do I love thee? Let me count the ways… This balm has a delicious scent, taste, and excellent formulation. It can be pretty sheer if lightly applied, but is also buildable to provide a more rich color. Try it, love it… this is an excellent product and I look forward to trying additional shades.

I really enjoyed selecting these products to share with you! Have a lovely day

First let me start off by saying that my hair is curly (and wavy in some parts), dry, frizzy prone, and color treated. I don’t know what prompted me to try something different for my conditioner, but I thought I would go ahead and give this a try. I’ve heard argan oil is supposed to be wonderful. I’m thinking that usually this is referring to the more pure forms of the oil. Not necessarily a hybrid of very little oil and a bunch of other ingredients. This conditioner is average at best. I find myself having to use a ton to even begin to make a difference on the smoothness of my hair. If I don’t use gobs of it, my hair feels like dry straw. I should have stuck with what I normally use, which is good ol’ Pantene or Garnier. They’re not only cheaper but much more effective on my hair. The only good thing about this conditioner is that it smells phenomenal. I wish there was a perfume in this scent.

Silvertree Moroccan Argan Oil presents an exceptional percentage of essential fatty acids, one of which is linoleic acid (omega 6, …) ensuring the functions of repair and defense of the hair and skin. The essential fatty acids fight against drying, dehydrating and the loss of elasticity which encourage the appearance of wrinkles. Vitamin E protects the cell membranes against lipid oxidization and thus slows down the process of hair and skin ageing. [source: cynos.com]

Ever wonder how some people just have that hair that everyone craves? It’s full of body, has natural waves throughout with a little bit of extra curl at the bottom. It’s like they just wake up that way! A few years ago, I was in your shoes and my sister was the one with the perfect hair. It literally always looked great and I never once saw her styling it; it just didn’t make sense! Until one day when she nonchalantly told me her secret. She simply twisted her wet hair into a bun and went to sleep with it wet. The next day she lets her hair down to reveal gorgeous, effortless waves.

Of course, it didn’t work perfectly for me since my wild, frizzy curls do not even compare to her naturally straight mane. I found out that the real key is to know your hair and to tailor this technique to what works for you. Determined to achieve the look, I did just that. Here’s that I found works for me:

I start off by brushing my wet hair and applying a tiny bit of moroccan argan oil. Then I blowdry it, starting with the roots, since that is where my hair starts curling first. Finally, while it is still hot, I gather all of my hair and twist it into a low bun and secure it with a hair tie right behind my neck. *If you want your waves to start higher, make the bun higher on your head. I found that low bun creates the best look for me.

Then in the morning, my hair is ready for the day. If you like to shower and get ready in the morning, this method works as well. Just make sure it is the first thing you do in the morning and have it in the bun as you finish getting ready and eat breakfast. Then take it out as you walk out the door.

What do you do to create effortless waves? Have you tried this method? Is there a particular styling product you use to achieve the look?

It’s been a while since I’ve been around, so I’ll ease back into this with a low-hanging fruit…

On my most recent travels to the US, I picked out these bottles for my travel shampoo and conditioner. (I’m picky about my shampoo choices and can wander the shampoo aisle for an hour picking out just the right kind.) It’s a nice brand of shampoo and conditioner, decent quality, unique packaging, and the perfect size – bigger than the normal tiny travel ones yet small enough that it wouldn’t take up unnecessary space in my suitcase.

Which is which?

I was very happy with my purchase until the first time I tried to actually use them in the shower. With absolutely nothing to distinguish the shampoo from the conditioner except the one small word on the bottle, I found myself continuously picking up the wrong one!

I know it seems like a silly thing, but after only 2 showers, I vowed to never buy the brand again. I did eventually solve the problem by storing them on opposite sides of the shower, but was annoyed I had to stoop to that solution. While the design might have seemed cool in theory, it failed when put to practical use. Back to Pantene Pro-V for me.

I want beautiful, long, healthy hair. AND I WILL HAVE IT! I have recently started a new hair care ro

I want beautiful, long, healthy hair. AND I WILL HAVE IT! I have recently started a new hair care routine in order to reach my goal of having healthier hair. This routine consists of washing (wetting) my hair more often to add moisture, not using heat, minimizing the use of products I use, and wearing protective styles to cut down on damage. When I set my mind to do something I really commit with my whole heart. My hair used to be so long and my mother always helped me to maintain it. But when I got older she had to take a second job and didn’t have as much time to help me with my hair. Suddenly I was responsible for the care of my own hair. There was so much of it and I honestly had no idea what to do with it. Needless to say, disaster was immanent. Within the course of a year my hair was completely damaged and most of it was gone. I still couldn’t figure out why though. That’s when I started doing as much research as I could to find out ways to grow hair. What I learned was the less I did to my hair, the better. I has taken a full year and about two heads of hair later, but my hair is finally healthy and below my shoulders. But of course I want it longer ; ) I am determined to grow my hair long again. This is a summary of some of the products I have tried so far. Some were great & I continue to use and others…..you should save your money on.

Curly hair is different in that it needs more moisture. It is also different, in that a person may have multiple textures of curly hair on their head. I learned that just because a product doesn’t work the first time I try it doesn’t mean it’s no good. Sometimes different sections of my hair require more or less of a product, or a totally different product. So you may need to play around with them first. But there are basics that I need, and I think all people with curly hair might benefit from.

I’ll go ahead and get the dud out of the way first. Hummm what can I say about Smooth’n Shine’s Olive & Tea Tree RevivOil. IT SUCKS (in my humble opinion). That’s it. It just sucks. The box says it’s a quench and repair potion and that it transforms hair on a microscopic level. Well I don’t know about all that. I can’t see on a microscopic level but it sure didn’t feel good.

It comes with three treatments, but half of one is all I needed. I have used tea tree oil before on my skin and liked the results, which is what caused me to try this. But this “potion” didn’t remind me anything of tea tree oil or olive oil. The bottle is filled with a strange, glittery liquid. the directions say to shake well and apply to hair. When I began to apply it to my hair I quickly stopped. The smell was strong, and I know, I know..tea tree oil smells strong. But this smell was almost like alcohol. The consistency was runny like water and it instantly made my hair feel dry and stripped of its natural oils. INSTANTLY. Upon reading the box further(which i should have done at the friggin store) it listed Panthenol and Silicones as some of its main ingredients. The other ingredients were indecipherable mess Science words 8 ( …that should have been an sign of the overall quality of the products from the beginning. But anyway, lesson learned. No matter how nice the box makes something sound, if I can’t understand even one ingredient then I will stay clear of that product. NEXT!

Vitamins & Moroccan Argan Oil. These are my new favorites when it comes to my hair and my overall health. They are pretty simple. I got B-12 because I need more energy. Not really for my hair, but if your drowsy like me it could really help. I may even explain all the laziness : )

Vitamin E

I read that Vitamin E is good for hair growth so I thought, why not give it a try. I will update later if I see any significant changes in my hair. But it could hurt just to take an extra vitamin anyway. Besides hair growth vitamin E is also an antioxidant. It promotes a healthy heart, and can help the immune system, prostate(if you have one lol) and mental health.

The Moroccan Argan Oil by Organix is wonderful. It smells great and really adds a shine to my hair. It is said to provide natural vitamin E and repair the hairs cell structure. It says specifically for coarse and dry hair. Like I said before, I have no way of seeing my hair’s cell structure, but I love this oil. It really does smooth my hair so easily. I use it to seal my ends when I braid my hair. It makes them smooth and all point in the same direction. I also apply it to the middle of my hair, which is the driest and to the edges of my hair. I love the way it seals in moisture and the extra frizz control since I am no longer straightening my hair. I think I will always use this on my hair.

Olive oil. This goes back to the less is more thing. I love olive oil because it naturally moisturizes and seals my hair. I apply it all over my hair when I get out of the shower. It adds shine I don’t ever feel like it’s too greasy. It is just the right amount of oil for my hair. It keeps my hair so moisturized that I can maintain my styles easily. I used to use moose to hold my curl pattern and keep down frizz but that was very drying. I even tried gel, but I just don’t like gel. It makes my hair hard and it doesn’t shine. I’m just not comfortable putting a lot of product or chemicals in my hair right now because I don’t want anything to go wrong and stop my growth so natural is best. If you want natural shine, hold and moisture, get some olive oil.

Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Replenishing Pak is AMAZING. I have actually been using this for a long time. I use this as a deep conditioner once a week. I love how it makes my hair so soft. This is really one I think every natural curly girl should have…or at least try. TRY IT : D

I hope this could help anyone who decided to grow their hair out natural. Any questions or even advice for me. Feel free to comment.

Currently, I am using the intense hair repair treatment, the moisturizing shampoo, and the 100% pure argan oil. I am of mixed-race African American origin (if you are familiar with the hair type spectrum, it is 4A) and I get Global Keratin treatments every few months. This product line makes my hair incredibly soft and works well with the keratin treatment. I also know that it works well for all hair types, so don’t hesitate to give this a try if your hair type isn’t exactly like mine. Cici
But, do you know what I really love about them? Their products rock! One more thing:

Tall Grass Spa is an Aveda Salon, and nothing against Aveda, but their products are full of gluten. With that said, Jessie does not mind a bit that I bring my gluten-free hair products along with me, she understands my need to have gluten-free hair products. If you live in the area, this Spa ranks very high, part of the Denver A list for Day Spa’s; number one, I believe, and for good reason.

I took my Acure conditioner and shampoo with me to the appointment, Jessie thought that it smelled great, and felt nice, quality and rich were words that she used. The end result: my hair is very shiny and soft. It was only my second use of the Acure shampoo, but I think that I love this shampoo! It did not weigh my hair down, and the shine is something else. You already know from an earlier post that I love the Acure Conditioner don’t you? Thanks Acure and thanks Jessie.
