Duminică a fost frecare de mentă pe acasă, aşa că m-am dus cu Melcu’ până în Valea lui Mihai, ca să le fac nişte poze. Asta-i undeva la vreo 60km după Satu Mare…gen.

Hugo Basaúla é o novo campeão nacional de Motocross na classe MX2. A confirmação do título sucedeu na derradeira jornada do Campeonato, em Freixo de Espada à Cinta, onde Luís Correia ganhou as duas mangas, mas o segundo lugar na primeira delas rendeu a Basaúla os pontos suficientes para arrebatar a coroa.

 Na pista Multiusos de Freixo de Espada à Cinta, Hugo Basaúla tinha um objectivo específico bem definido: terminar uma manga entre os três primeiros para, de imediato, se sagrar campeão. O piloto de Cascais cumpriu essa tarefa logo na primeira corrida, e aos 20 anos de idade conquistou assim o seu primeiro título nacional sénior de Motocross, a completar uma época bem sucedida – pois este ano Basaúla também foi 8.º classificado no Campeonato do Mundo MX3, que disputou integralmente, além de vice-campeão nacional na categoria Elite.
Com o céu encoberto durante a tarde mas sem chuva – salvo breves “pingos” durante uma manga Vintage – 19 pilotos estiveram em acção nesta quinta e última jornada do Campeonato Nacional MX2, proporcionando duas corridas bastante movimentadas na pista transmontana.
Na primeira manga Luís Ferreira liderou na volta inaugural, na seguinte Hugo Basaúla ainda rodou à frente, mas na terceira volta Luís Correia instalou-se em definitivo no comando, escapando à concorrência para vencer destacado.
Basaúla seguiu até ao fim no 2.º posto, suficiente para desde logo assegurar a coroa. Mais atrás, na antepenúltima volta Nuno Gonçalves desalojou Luís Ferreira do 3.º lugar, enquanto Nélson Silva bateu Daniel Pinto no confronto pela 5.ª posição. Já Henrique Venda teve de recuperar de queda sofrida logo na primeira curva, enquanto Ivo Fernandes não participou nesta corrida, devido a problemas mecânicos detectados na volta de reconhecimento.
Ivo Fernandes, precisamente, na segunda manga apareceu na dianteira durante duas voltas, mas a seguir Luís Correia apoderou-se da liderança para fechar a temporada com mais um triunfo. Entretanto, na sexta e sétima voltas Fernandes foi ultrapassado sucessivamente por Basaúla e Venda, e este acabaria mesmo por ascender ao 2.º posto a quatro voltas do fim. Já na derradeira Fernandes subiu ao 3.º lugar por troca com Basaúla, e muito próximo chegou também Luís Ferreira na 5.ª posição.

Mais um brilhante resultado de Sergio Pita no campeonato de mx2,desta feita o piloto apoiado pela motorace conseguiu um brilhante 9º lugar na geral o que lhe valeu um exelente 10º posto no campeonato…..

BMX-Rädern, Snow-Mobile, Mini-Bikes und Quad in einer 3-stündigen Show den Atem.

Doch nicht nur die „dirty boys“ auf  ihren 2- oder 4-Rädern heizen dem Publikum ein, auch die berühmten Fuel Girls aus England zeigen eine außergewöhnlich heiße Feuer-Show.

Die regierenden Feuerwerksweltmeister aus Österreich werden wieder für Feuer, Flammen und Explosionen sorgen.

DJ Mosaken „Worlds finest DJ“ ist weltweit für seine Skills an den Turntables bekannt und wird auch in Unterpremstätten wieder für Stimmung sorgen.

Well, not really! He has arranged a motocross charityevent for kids with lukaemia and the turnout was great! Over 10000 spectators came to watch some of the Motogp riders switch to motocross. Kevin Schawnts also came to compete!

O Campeonato Nacional de Motocross MX2 vai terminar no próximo Domingo, em Freixo de Espada à Cinta. Hugo Basaúla está bem encaminhado para a conquista do título, mas Luís Correia ainda pode ter “uma palavra a dizer” sobre esse assunto, e como tal a jornada transmontana será decisiva para conhecer o novo campeão.

A contabilidade actual do Campeonato é favorável a Hugo Basaúla. Antes de mais, interessa recordar que cada piloto desconta o pior resultado, mas nessa matéria os dois pretendentes estão praticamente nivelados, pois até ao momento “Basa” tem 18 pontos como pior desempenho, contra 16 de Luís Correia.

Dito isto, o 3.º lugar numa das mangas transmontanas é suficiente para Basaúla se sagrar campeão. Pela lógica inversa, se Luís Correia ganhar as duas corridas de Domingo, precisa sempre que o rival não fique entre os três primeiros em qualquer delas. Portanto, o piloto de Cascais goza de claro favoritismo para conquistar o seu primeiro título de campeão nacional, mas precisa ainda de confirmar essa supremacia na derradeira jornada.

Quanto ao actual 3.º colocado na tabela, Luís Ferreira, embora aritmeticamente ainda tenha escassas hipóteses de alcançar a coroa, isso só aconteceria com um verdadeiro descalabro a afectar os dois primeiros no Domingo. Ao invés, Ferreira está bem posicionado para confirmar essa terceira posição, e depois surge um quinteto ainda em luta para o 4.º lugar e seguintes – ou eventualmente, o 3.º – constituído por Nuno Gonçalves, Nélson Silva, Ivo Fernandes, Henrique Venda e Daniel Pinto.

Esta ronda decisiva vai ter lugar na conhecida Pista Multiusos do Freixo, e além das duas mangas MX2 o programa inclui ainda outras tantas para motos “Vintage”, extra-troféu.

O piloto do team motoPita, Sergio Pita encontra-se neste momento em 11º lugar a 3 pontos do 10º classificado-Miguel Gaboleiro.

Podendo ainda alcançar o 9º lugar neste campeonato pois está  apenas a 12 pontos.

Estão  a atingir -se os objectivos esperados para este campeonato e esperamos que esta prova corra bem ao piloto Sergio Pita.

Wings, Red Bull, and donuts; if possible I would live on nothing but these three creations of the gods.  In reality though, if attempted, I would likely end up at a morgue long before any start gate.  What we put into our bodies is the fuel that will be burned all day.  So, do you want to run VP race gas, or are you OK filling-up with the regular-unleaded at the last stop before the track?

“If I only knew then what I know now.”   I’ve done a lot of racing:  downhill mountain bike, cross country mountain bike, 5k and 10k running, but nothing has punished my body as hard as when I raced motocross.  It’s been said that motocross is the most physically demanding sport in the world behind only football, uh, read as “professional soccer”.  So why do so many racers spend exorbitant amounts of money on their gear and bikes, but on race day eat as if it’s halftime at the Superbowl?

There are three main things to remember when feeding your body properly: carbohydrates, proteins and hydration.  I’ll break this down into even easier pieces to digest (lame, I know) and by the end of this article you’ll be eating like a pro.

Carbohydrates (Carbs) – N.  An essential structural component of living cells and source of energy for animals.

Carbs are the basic elements that we get energy from.  Our body can break carbs down into simple sugars which, as you know, can be consumed for energy.  There are however, many types of carbs and sugars.  Eating a chocolate bar before your moto (which when I was 16 I thought was a good idea) is only putting simple sugars into your system and will be burned up quickly.  These simple sugars give you that great sugar high, but are followed with a period of withdrawal where your body feels sluggish and sleepy, also known as the sugar crash.   If you want to drop anchor mid-moto then candy-up, but a better way to fuel your body is to provide it with complex carbs which take longer to break down into sugars and therefore provide a more sustainable energy.

So where are these magic carbs found?  They’re found in everything Atkins wants to destroy.  Pancakes, bread, rice, pasta, and potatoes are probably the best and easiest sources.  Fuel your body with these foods the night before your race, and maintain your energy all week by including them with every meal.  Whole wheat breads and brown rice are also better for you because they contain more nutrients than their processed, white cousins.  On race day eat many, small, balanced snacks like cheese and crackers, pasta salad, and sandwiches.  Also, use fresh fruit and juices as a way to kill those sugar cravings throughout the day.  The complex sugars in fruit will last longer in your body than the simple ones found in donuts, and chocolate bars.

It’s important to eat enough carbs during the day because if your body runs out of sugars to get energy from, it starts to break down proteins in your muscles, which is easier to get to than complex fats.  In order to maintain enough carbohydrate reserves males aged 14-18 are recommended to eat seven servings of carbs per day while males aged 18-50 are recommended to eat eight.  And no matter what McDonalds says, a single “serving” will fit in the palm of your hand.  These are recommendations for average males, athletes in training can safely eat a little more since these carbs are the fuel that will help your body run at its best.

Proteins – N. Any nitrogenous organic compounds that are essential to living cells.  Umm…yea, it’s meat.

It’s not just meat though; protein can be consumed in many ways as our vegan friends can attest to, it’s just easier to eat meat.  But why do we need protein in our diet?  Consider protein as the “Fragle Rock Doozers” who show up late at night after a long day of riding and fix all the damaged muscle in your body.  And by fixing it, they also make it bigger.  Muscles grow when they are first damaged through exercise, and then repaired by protein and rest.

Proteins should not be consumed in massive amounts or they will just slow down your body’s ability…to…function…regularly…scheduled…activities…regarding…waste disposal.  Poop, there I said it.  Save the big steak for your victory meal after slaying the competition.  Before the race stick to baked, skinless chicken, maybe a little pork, but a nice cut that’s not too fatty.  I’m suggesting tenderloin rather than a rack of ribs here folks.  During your midweek training have a little red meat but remember those portion sizes; it needs to fit in the palm of your hand.  And remember that there are several sources of protein too.  Nuts, eggs and beans are all excellent sources of protein and have less fat than many cuts of meat.  Milk, yogurt and cheese also contain protein so listen to Ryan Sheckler and drink up, just don’t follow any of his business advice.

Humans evolved as hunter-gatherers, and as such ate lots of veggies and a little meat, when they could outsmart something.  So remember your hairy ancestors and don’t over-do it in the meat department.  Males aged 14-51+ are recommended only 3 servings a day.  Think about that, most of us have had that many servings by 12:30.

Hydration – N. The process of combining with water.

In this case it’s combining your mouth with water, and drinking it.  No matter what energy drink your favourite racer is collecting a pay check from, I guarantee they are not drinking one before the moto.  Ever wonder why you always hear about pros almost missing their start because they were in the Port-O-let?  It’s not nervous bladder syndrome, they are hydrated to the teeth because they are about to sweat like no other athlete for 30 minutes plus two laps.

Now this goes for weekend warriors as much as moto racers and off-roaders alike, your body uses up a lot of liquid when those lungs and heart get pounding and it has to be replaced.  And guess what?  Good-ole fashioned H2O is the best thing to replenish it with too.  But if you want to get technical, then let’ s get technical.  There’s a hydration rule to follow: Water for the first 45 minutes of exercise and a sports drink after that.  Let’s be clear here.  A sports drink is like Gatorade, NOT Red Bull.  Drinks like Gatorade have carbohydrates and electrolytes (salts) which also need to be replaced because they are lost from your cells in the sweating process. When you work out (or ride) for long enough, it’s essential to replaces these carbs and electrolytes, along with the actual lost fluids.  Why is it important to stay hydrated?  Well, each time a litre of fluid is lost, the body temperature rises by .3ºC causing the heart beat to increase by 8 beats a minute.  Also, cardiac out-put declines by 1 litre a minute, which means less oxygenated blood is getting to your muscles.  Got it?  Now go drink up so that muscle in your wrist can keep twisting.

I hope you’ve found this article to be helpful.  It’s hard to change habits and different things work for different people.  But what’s important to understand is what your body needs in order function at its best.  None of us need to follow James Stewart’s nutrition formula here, but at the same time, none of us should be eating at a service station on the morning of a race.  Take the time to at least make a peanut butter and jam sandwich on whole wheat bread, then wash it down with a cup of milk and a glass of water.  Your body will be so thankful it may just do something special for you, like carry you all the way to the top step of the podium!

BRESCIA, 19 NOV. 2009 – È stat a presentata ufficialmente nella sala consiliare della Provincia di Brescia, “Una gara x Luca”, l’atteso evento di beneficenza che vedrà al via i migliori piloti del motomondiale e del motocross sul tracciato di cross dell-Autodromo di Franciacorta. A fare gli onori di casa ci ha pensato l’assessore allo sport della Provincia di Brescia Fabio Mandelli che ha aperto la conferenza stampa introducendo la gara davanti ai tanti giornalisti accorsi soprattutto per Marco Melandri.

Il forte pilota del team Honda San Carlo, insieme ad Alberto Martinelli è stato l’ideatore e il motore dell’iniziativa benefica e ha raccontato i motivi che lo hanno spinto a lanciarsi in questa avventura. La parola è poi passata al manager bresciano, Martinelli, che si è detto entusiasta dell’interesse suscitato per l’evento, poi sono intervenuti un dirigente del Moto Club Lumezzane, Dallera, che ha fornito l’aiuto logistico per l’organizzazione della gara e l’assessore allo Sport di Castrezzato, . Infine ha parlato Angelo Pellegrini, fratello di Luca, il quale ha dichiarato che Luca sta recuperando bene: ora muove le spalle e sente le dita delle mani e domenica sarà presente alla gara. Le parole del campione italiano Supercross hanno avuto come sottofondo un applauso a scena aperta dei numerosi partecipanti alla conferenza stampa organizzata dalla Provinci a di Brescia e da Cesare Mariani che ha presentato l’evento.
Dopo la presentazione, Melandri, Martinelli e Pellegrini sono stati ospiti, in diretta, dell’appuntamento pomeridiano dell’emittente locale, Teletutto, dove si è parlato a lungo dell’evento di domenica che continua a riscuotere favori e per domenica è attesa tanta gente.

Marco Melandri:” Sono molto felice dell’attenzione che stampa e pubblico stanno dando alla gara di domenica e contento che saranno presenti i migliori piloti di cross e velocità. Sarà una festa dove il pubblico sarà protagonista e l’intento è quello di raccogliere più fondi possibili da devolvere a Luca perchè le cure sono molto costose e ha dunque bisogno di una bella mano da tutti. Per questo abbiamo deciso insieme ad Alberto Martinelli di organizzare la gara. Sarà bello avere Luca nei box e il prossimo anno speriamo che cammini con noi nel paddock”.

Alberto Martinelli:” Marco ha dato una grande mano per portare i piloti migliori e lo ringrazio tanto per l’impegno che ha messo nell’iniziativa. Da parte mia devo dire di essere molto felice dell’interesse della stampa e della televisione. Avremo tanti ospiti domenica tra cui tanti piloti e i maggiori media nazionali. Speriamo che il tempo ci assista perchè sarà una grande festa”.

La cittadina veneta è facilmente raggiungibile uscendo al casello di Montebello della A4 Serenissima. Durante la serata saranno distribuiti gadget ATHENA e GET e messi in palio 2 pass per assistere al GP d’Italia 2010 in programma a FERMO nelle Marche il 10 e l’11 aprile. Sarà esposta la Red Bull Yamaha De Carli YZF 450 Campione del mondo MX1 , moto ufficiale reduce dal salone di Milano.

E’ possibile la presenza del Campione siciliano che domenica 22 novembre sarà impegnato all’Autodromo Daniel Bonara di Franciacorta nella manifestazione “Una gara X Luca”, organizzata per raccogliere fondi a favore di Luca Pellegrini, il pilota diciassettenne che necessità di costose cure per guarire da un grave infortunio motociclistico. Al via ci saranno i migliori piloti del motocross e del motomondiale.

Entrevista com o piloto Marcos Moraes, Campeão Brasileiro na categoria CRF 230:

Mocambinho, alguns dizem que é um distrito, outros dizem que é um bairro de Jaíba, mas nós podemos seguramente dizer que Mocambinho é a capital Norte Mineira do Supercross. Neste ano, duas competições distintas tiveram uma etapa no lugar. No mês de Maio foi a Copa Brasil de Supercross e neste dia 15 de Novembro foi a vez do Campeonato Norte Mineiro de Supercross realizar a sua 4ª etapa, o que torna Mocambinho como o único lugar no Norte de Minas a realizar duas competições da mesma modalidade em 2009.

O público desta etapa foi grandioso, mais de cinco mil pessoas compareceram para ver o show dos pilotos norte-mineiros. O local que normalmente é destinado ao público não foi suficiente, com isto as próprias pessoas criaram lugares alternativos de forma que ocuparam todos os arredores da pista. E a vibração do público foi incrível, impressionou a todos, inclusive o prefeito Detinho, que participou da cerimônia de abertura e ficou até a entrega de troféus e, ainda prometeu levar uma etapa do campeonato no próximo ano para a cidade de Jaíba.

NACIONAL 230cc - Na pista os pilotos norte-mineiros fizeram a sua parte. Foi uma das etapas mais disputadas do campeonato. A primeira categoria a largar foi a Nacional 230cc. Os pilotos Wefson “Fefi” de Montes Claros e o gorutubano Guilherme, que disputam a liderança da categoria não tiveram sorte nesta etapa, caíram e não obtiveram boas colocações. Melhor para o piloto Fernando, de Janaúba, que venceu a prova e agora é mais um postulante ao título; Kleber, de São Francisco, ficou com a segunda colocação; Luiz Otávio, de Montes Claros em terceiro; Rone, de Jaíba, em quarto e Wesley “Ara”, de Pirapora, em quinto.

MÁSTER/ OPEN – Na categoria Máster/ Open a vitória foi “prata da casa”, o piloto Gilvan, de Mocambinho, fez uma grande corrida, venceu e levou os seus conterrâneos a loucura! O piloto Gaguinho, de Montes Claros, terminou em segundo; Reizinho, de Montes Claros, em terceiro; Fábio Madureira, de Brasília de Minas, em quarto e Dão do Peixe, de Montes Claros em quinto.

SX-3 (Intermediária-B) – Depois de muitas disputas, em uma categoria com o maior número de pilotos, a SX-3 teve como vencedor o piloto Alexandre, que também é de Mocambinho e saiu da categoria Nacional e foi para as importadas, estreando com vitória. O piloto Gil, de Porteirinha, chegou em segundo; Patrick, de Monte Azul, em terceiro; Magno, de Montes Claros, em quarto e Angelino, de Manga, em quinto.

MIRIM (até 10 anos) – Nesta etapa até a categoria Mirin surpreendeu a todos com as disputas dos garotos. E a briga pelo primeiro lugar ficou por conta dos pilotinhos Guilherme e João Vitor. No final João Vitor chegou em primeiro, Rhuanzinho, em segundo; Guilherme, em terceiro; Vitor Monan, em quarto (todos de Montes Claros) e Matheuzinho, de Janaúba, em quinto.

85 cc (até 15 anos) – A categoria 85cc mostrou que os garotos serão mesmo o grande futuro do esporte, com uma técnica muito apurada, os garotos fazem o que muitos pilotos adultos não fazem, o que torna esta categoria um verdadeiro espetáculo! Desta vez a briga ficou por conta de Lucas Gabriel e Kayo Phillipe e a disputa foi de arrepiar! faltando duas voltas para a bandeirada final, Kayo ultrapassou Gabriel e venceu a prova; Gabriel, chegou em segundo; Andrezinho, em terceiro (todos de Moc); Diego Chaves, em quarto e Felipe, em quinto, ambos de Manga.

SX-2 (Intermediária–A) – A categoria SX-2 mostrou que é uma categoria muito competitiva. Nesta etapa o piloto Gabriel Tupinambá, de Montes Claros, fez uma excelente corrida e teve a sua primeira vitória da temporada; o piloto Noé, de Monte Azul, fez uma corrida de recuperação e terminou em segundo; Gugu, de Montes Claros, em terceiro; Edvan PC, de Itacarambi, em quarto e Leonardo, de Salinas, em quinto.

SX-1 (PRÓ) – Para fechar o show, a categoria SX-1 foi a última a largar. O piloto Rodrigão provou que está mesmo imbatível, venceu mais uma etapa, e é o líder invicto da categoria. Curiosamente, o piloto gorutubano Danilo Farley, também vem chegando em segundo em todas as etapas, o que acaba sendo uma alerta para Rodrigão, pois qualquer vacilo do piloto pode ser uma chance para Danilo. O piloto Messias, de São Francisco; chegou em terceiro; Biu, de Montes Claros, em quarto e Léozinho, de Monte Azul, em quinto.

Esta etapa foi realizada através de uma parceria da Radical X com os pilotos Paulo, Gilvan e Alexandre e contou com apoio da Prefeitura de Jaíba e dos comerciantes e empresários locais. A supervisão foi da Liga Norte Mineira de Motociclismo.

DSLR’s are known for their rolling shutter issues (classic with CMOS sensors) in shaky situations but Simon Cudby somehow keeps it smooth even in the pits. Also, with a lot of great slow motion shots, this video is a testament to the 60p setting on the 7D.

En esta oportunidad te informamos sobre el gran evento tuerca de este fin de semana, el cual es parte de las celebraciones de los 10 años del Rally Mobil. Fanático de las tuercas? Entonces debes seguir leyendo.

Este sábado 21 de noviembre, en el circuito de Laguna Carén (Ruta 68), se llevará a cabo el Rally Mobil Motorshow. Que tiene de especial este evento? Muchas cosas.

La primera es la presentación del ex campeón mundial de rally, el finlandés Juha Kankkunen y de su compatriota Kristian Sohlberg. Sencillamente dos grandes del rally mundial.

Además se disputará el Trofeo de Naciones, donde diversos pilotos de sudamerica se enfrentarán en busca de este trofeo, todos en autos de la categoría N4. Entre los participantes están Marcos Ligato, Sebastián Beltrán, Nicolás Madero, Alejandro Cancio y Claudio Menzi (Argentina); Ramón Ferreyros (Perú); Luis Valverde (Ecuador); Víctor Galeano (Paraguay); Daniel Oliveira (Brasil); Jorge Martínez Fontena, Eliseo Salazar, Daniel Mas y Juan Francisco Carrasco (Chile).

Pero eso no es todo. Además se disputaran mangas en las categorías N2 y N3, junto con motocross y Freestyle. En este último destacan la presencia del norteamericano Beau Bamburg y el chileno Javier “Astroboy” Villegas.

Este evento comienza a las 13:00 hrs del día sábado y cierra a las 20:00 horas con la presentación del grupo chileno Los Bunkers.

Cuenta cuesta asistir? Solo $9000 y las entradas se pueden comprar en FeriaTicket (Los niños hasta 1.10 mts de altura entran absolutamente gratis).

Así que ya sabes, si eres fanático del mundo tuerca no debes perderte por nada este espectáculo.

When the Lord designed me, he clearly forgot an important Gene: Fear. My greatest personal challenge in life the past few years has been coping with its late arrival in my DNA make-up. I was always Fearless as a child. To say that I never endured situations where I should have rationally been Fearful is a lie. I am a survivor; I have been through things so painful I will never discuss them again in this lifetime, with anyone. I just cannot recall ever feeling Fear, or making decisions based upon its effects. This lack of the Fear Gene is probably the genetic difference which stood between me and almost every other woman on earth, as far as a dirt bike is concerned. I looked at a dirt bike from day one as a machine to be conquered. When I was 16 years old, a good friend of ours died in my brother’s arms from a Jet Ski accident at Havasu. A tragedy I will never forget. I was never ignorant of the fact that I was risking my life by getting on a dirt bike, I just never allowed that consequence to enter my thought process; I simply wanted to ride. I wanted to become an Expert, not just on riding but on the bike’s engine too. I wanted to conquer the sport and open it up as a doorway to other women. I knew that if I allowed a man to do the work for me, or pick the bike up off of me every time, I would never get there. With this spirit, I set out to conquer this sport with no assistance from anyone! There were times that I stood in the garage tossing tools in frustration. Or stood in the desert, dehydrated and exhausted, kicking my bike until I was literally vomiting. I built my body during those years into such excellent shape that I could easily lift my 265 pound bike off of me (my enduro, DRZ250,) were I to get pinned underneath it, (which happens when you crash) and something I never dreamt I would be strong enough to do when I started.

With this in mind, I didn’t just get on a bike, put on a cute outfit and ride around. My bike was entirely my own. My rule, no one worked on it but me. No one touched it. To ride professionally, you must understand that allowing someone to make the slightest modifications to your bike can get you seriously hurt. You and your bike become one instrument. The dirt bike has to become an extension of yourself and only you must know what it is capable of getting you through. Thus, I did all of the repairs, all of the maintenance, I changed my own oil and lubed my air filters myself. I installed the expensive FMF pipe I saved up for. I changed out the plastics. When my dream finally did come true in 2003 of owning a real race bike, my CR125 (my 4th dirt bike out of 5,) I did the work. I managed within 6 months of owning her to blow the entire top-end after participating in drag races in the sand dunes. I knew I could really injure the bike, but I had oiled her down and I needed the practice competing. I didn’t expect to damage her that severely though. Months later, I put that bike through hell practicing all day Saturday and Sunday on the motocross tracks in Denver. (The bike did have to be professionally adjusted to account for the altitude change.) One day lapping on the track, the entire Top End blew. UTBH ordered me the manual online and found me a place to hone the cylinder myself. In our garage, I sat there and rebuilt my top end from scratch.

Later, I will detail the purchase of my 1st bike and the subsequent bikes I was given to ride. Right now, I have a CRF250X sitting lonely in my garage. This is a bike that my father purchased for me in 2006 for us to share. (He felt really bad that I was moping around for 2 years over the tragic loss of my CR125. But he couldn’t handle riding a race bike, so we compromised.) My final week in Denver, I crashed very hard on the motocross track, breaking 3 ribs and smashing my right hand. I went off a jump and landed in a patch of snow at the bottom; didn’t even see it there. (Snow is slippery and although the track was open, it is a huge hazard to avoid. http://www.watkinsmotocross.com/index.htm) Ironically, I had always refused to wear a chest protector, even on the track.  I felt it inhibited my performance on tight turns, etc.  The 1st time I ever put one on assisted in breaking my ribs….Then, for the next few years as a student, I couldn’t afford health insurance. The decision was made that I had to give up riding because I simply couldn’t afford any more Cat Scans. After graduation, my father purchased the bike with the intention that I would get back out there and train. The challenge remains that I sold my truck, I own a sports car. I don’t have my own transportation. I am rusty as anything and I would need someone who had an entire day free to devote to me getting re-acclimated with my new bike. (I have ridden my CRF only 2 times in 3 years.) Lastly, going off into the middle of the desert with someone is not to be taken lightly. Many of the guys who have offered to take me out I just don’t feel comfortable enough with to do it. There has to be a degree of trust there. Thus, until I am rescued by a Prince Charming, with a truck or trailer, who can load my dirt bike (the one thing I cannot do without dropping it off the side of the truck – trust me it has happened and hurt,) and spend time with me in the desert, then I am destined to never ride again. A true loss to the motocross world

Also, some very light reading with the essentials of air filter cleaning! That’s one of the few things I learned how to do as an amateur! Thanks, Dad. (Oh, and by the way, I received a letter from Ford Motor Company in the mail notifying me of a defect (09S09) in the Explorer, and until I can have the recall service performed, I need to park my vehicle outdoors away from structures to prevent a potential fire from spreading! Seriously?)

Let the shenanigans begin!

Let me say this.  I have been Blogging non-stop this past week.  I have A LOT of personal stuff going on and this has been the most perfect mental distraction for me.  I like to write and wish I would have had the opportunity to do it for a living.  Please do not get spoiled though, because in the near future, my postings will become sparse and in-between. 

Baby # 2 insists that I cannot propel our readers’ years ahead to the ‘dirt bike accident.’  I must give my readers some sort of history, explaining how I ended up being a Motocross Mamma in the 1^st place.  Fair enough.

As a child, I liked to play with anything that moved.  It started with the break-my-neck tire incident at age 3, then there was the tricycle incident at age 4, (the neighbors used cooking oil to remove my leg from the spokes,) I fell off a horse at age 5, crashed my 12-speed bike at age 8, crashed my go-cart at age 9, rolled the ATV down a hill at age 10 (ouch,) the skateboard ramp we built so I could catch big air at age 11, went over my brother’s handlebars at age 12 (on the dirt bike he was ‘giving me a ride’ on,) sank a boat in Lake Tahoe and swam back around age 13, crashed my moped scooter at age 14 (no I wasn’t legally allowed to have one,) flew off the jet ski into the harbor at age 15 (again, ouch,) crashed trying extreme roller skating at age 16, and then moved onto crashing bigger and better things…like our family car.  None of this deterred me from the next toy I could find. 

My brother, (Bro#1,) and my ex-boyfriend, (UTBH,) had this great idea, let’s buy this ‘80s dirt bike from a garage sale and teach Mon Cherie how to ride it, hee hee hee.  Now in order to provide full disclosure, Bro#1 was a professional test-rider for Kawasaki for almost 10 years.  He tested the prototypes of everything from quads and jet skis, to working on the Pit Crew for a famous Super Bike Rider.  My Bro#1 has built sand rails, race trucks and car engines from scratch in our garage my whole life.  He is that guy.  For a case of beer, he would change my break pads, or teach me how to do it myself.  Also, I was on the Pit Crew of two different Off-Road race teams in high school.  I had previously gone out into the middle of nowhere, in the Mexican desert, many times for the Baja 1000, (among many other locales we visited.)  There was no doubt I wouldn’t have a problem sitting on a dirt bike and making it go forward…but what this little riding excursion morphed into, those boys never imagined.

We drove out to Beaumont and I hopped on what we all fondly referred to as “the Crapper.”  A blue Honda.  Looked like something out of an old Elvis Presley flick. And we were off.  I spent the whole day listening to Bro #1 and UTBH shout, “stop crying,” “no, no the other brake,” “look out for the truck!” “again, motocross riders don’t cry!” and “stop, that bike is not made for those hills!”  I was hooked, I didn’t fall once that entire day ~ the crying was mainly from getting screamed at repeatedly by two men for flooding the engine and blowing a few spark plugs.  Oh yea, and one minor dent/ scratch in Bro #1’s paint job on his brand new truck.  Are we having fun yet?!?   

It’s a cold Saturday night at home.  The snow has been falling all afternoon, but its very welcomed.  Val and I are ready to snowboard, and we need snow!!   This week begins the move into my new home with Val.  I forgot how big a task moving is.  I’m ready for it to be over and it’s just starting!!

For those of you that know about my web project, I went ahead and secured the domain and have begun moving the website over while I continue to develop.  Feel free to check it out at www.nocoastcolorado.com and let me know what you think.  Constructive criticism is always welcome.  It will be some time still before I advertise the site, but I’ve got a good start going and a few good minds helping me out.  I’m pretty excited.

A felnőttek versenyeinek szünetében jó volt látni az ifjú korosztályt, akik között már volt aki három évesen a crossmotor nyergében versenyzett. Bizony nekik még gyakran jól jött a szülői segítség, vagy legalább valaki, aki a laza homokban talrállította a vasparipát.

Bár köztük vannnak a jövő bajnokai, azért nem feledjük, hogy ők még gyermekek!

Az alábbiakban az augusztus 22.-én a Hargita-fürdői falunap keretében megrendezett motocross versenyről mutatok be néhányat az akkor készült fényemlékeimből. A versenyek három csoportban, kezdő, haladó és profi kategóriában folytak, a résztvevők baráti lelkesedésével. Helyszin a már régebben látott Kaolin-sivatag volt, amelyből a szervezők kerítettek és készítettek elő egy részt a versenyek számára. A kaolinos homok komoly próbára tette úgy a motorok, mint a motorosok képességeit…
