Today, I moved on to the third stage of Cindy Crawford’s exercise CD- – New Dimension (2000);

Today, I moved on to the third stage of Cindy Crawford’s exercise CD- – New Dimension (2000); and it is a great at start to my day.

This is meant for mothers who have just delivered a baby, but after a hysterectomy, I think it is just what I need. There are 3 workouts and one can move from one to the other only when one feels ready to face the ‘Next challenge’. The moves are basic with slow stretches which feel good; each workout puts in a little more to each set of exercises. The whole CD is very good for beginners and people who start exercising late in life.

Working out at home hasn’t been difficult for me ever since the kids left home and the mornings stopped being rushed. With a CD, it feels like there is cheery company and nice music helps a lot. But if I wake up too late or there is something else that fills up the morning, then the exercise session does get put off till the next morning. I comfort myself saying that the experts recommend only three sessions a week.

This time I’ve been very easy on myself. I’ve been doing only 15 min a day for the past month. I started the weights with a lot of hesitation, but they are very little ones and hardly for 3 minutes. The pushups are still difficult but its getting better. Last week, when I tried Workout C, I almost collapsed. And went around sore for a few days. But Today, I sailed through.

So, as they say, do it at your own pace. But do it.

Note: I just googled this exercise video and found a lot of reviews. There is a comprehensive one here at videofitness .com. Im just glad that there are so many women who have found this an ideal workout. Im not doing it alone!

Have been wanting to share my Inner Dance experience for some time, but just couldn’t find the

Have been wanting to share my Inner Dance experience for some time, but just couldn’t find the right words to adequately describe the whole intensity of it, till recently, I finally sat down and wrote one my ‘initiation’ into Inner Dance in one sitting, in Pi’s website. Pi is the one who brought the practice of Inner Dance into Singapore, for almost 2 years I think, and you can read all about Inner Dance and his journey in these 2 interviews by Cosmic Lighthouse, my favorite online metaphysics magazine!

I think that Inner Dance is a wonderful way to ‘Free your Body’, and so I’d like to share with you my experience here

“It definitely looked scary seeing other people doing the inner dance, when my understanding was that their arms, head, body and legs would just move by itself, without the mind controlling it. And yet, having taken dance improvisation classes where our instructor kept telling us to ‘move without thinking’, I wonder how it’ll feel like to truly move without thinking, to be an observer of how my own body moves.

Finally, I took the courage, and set some time for myself to experience this Inner dance workshop. There was an awfully long time where facilitators would pick my arms up, using fingers to make me rotate my spine, contract, and ‘puppet’ my body, at times letting go to see if I’d continue from there. But it didn’t happen – I’d abruptly drop my arms and head when the facilitator let go. I was disappointed. Then, it suddenly felt like my arms were slowly being enveloped with energy, that thickened and supported its weight. It felt easier to ‘float’ my arms in space, and I’d consciously move other parts of my body to complement my ‘dancing’ arms. I was starting to get the hang of it.

Motions became repetitive, yet subtly changing to another form. The energy in the air grew thicker, and it seemed like I was ‘playing’ with the energy as I danced. Sometimes the movements grew in intensity, and I was excited to ‘observe’ (with eyes closed) how my body was getting more and more violent, thrusting my head up and down, standing up and falling. Eventually someone helped to calm me down, and, as I sat back on the floor, the sobbing came. I was feeling embarrassed to cry, yet it felt extremely relieving to do that, the sobbing became louder and uncontrollable. Finally that was gone.

There was extreme lightness and my inner dance became much more graceful and dance-like. The ‘choreography’ changed for every song. I learned that I can let in the Inner dance, and still somehow ‘control’ how I wanted it to be. It’s not that scary after all. It felt wonderful to ’sit back and appreciate’ how my body was moving. A magical feeling!

After I wrote this sharing, I can’t help but wonder how this would apply to life itself. If you see life as the Inner dance, and you, the dancer, as the Creator of that life, then it’s like letting life unfold itself as you are somehow detached yet observing it. You would pay attention more to the flow of life, rather than a specific incident (one dance move that didn’t look so perfect), and if you don’t like it, you can set the intent to change it, and life (dance) would unfold in another way. It’s a flow of letting go and observing, then directing the flow to how you’d like it to be. If we are able to continually apply this attitude in life, there’d be no more life dramas, and we can concentrate more on the creation process and enjoying it more, rather than let life happen to us, and catching us by surprise.“

I started yoga this past winter. It never really interested me – I thought pilates was more my style – but I was reading Gorgeously Green and she had instructions for a couple of sun salutation sequences. The instructions actually made sense to me, so I tried it. And I loved it! I could tell that it was just what my body needed.

I started out doing sun salutations every morning and eventually added other poses into the mix. I went to an anusara yoga class, which I loved. I bought a couple of yoga DVDs and added them in. Whenever I start something new, I am usually gung-ho on it for a few weeks or months and then my interest fizzles, but I have somehow managed to keep up my near-daily practice. It is something I get to do and that I very much look forward to doing. I even began getting up earlier so that I could fit in a practice before work.

The benefits I’ve noticed so far: strength (legs and arms in particular), flexibility (I can touch my toes!), I can sit cross-legged (for over an hour – I couldn’t even sit cross-legged for seconds!), balance (I am less wobbly in the tree pose), mindfulness (during practice and then it carries over into the rest of my day), pain relief (back and shoulders from sitting at a computer), stress relief (practice is very calming), better breathing, I feel more at home in my body and appreciative of what it can do .. I’m sure there are more benefits, but those are the ones that come to mind immediately. Oh – and sometimes, during the bridge pose, I can feel the energy begin to run up my spine. It is the most incredible feeling.

While I am still (very much) a beginner, I love yoga enough that I would love to become a yoga instructor someday.

If you’ve never tried yoga, I highly recommend it. There are a ton of different styles, so it seems like there must be a style for everyone. If you have tried yoga, do you have any good DVD recommendations, or is there a particular style that you like?

I’m a writer, a Mom and a Life Coach. But the truth is, I am just a slightly dorky/sometimes hip chick who is fascinated by how, why and under what circumstances people change their lives – for real and for good.

Part of me studies change in a geeky way, examining trans-theoretical psychology models. Another part looks at how your spiritual beliefs can help you change. And the rest of me looks at real people who’ve actually done it – changed their bodies, their relationships with food and exercise, and who’ve added more authentic joy and happiness to their lives.

For the next year, I’m applying everything I know about change to UnDiet My Life. Like so many women, I’ve gained weight and lost weight; I’ve counted calories and ate cupcakes; I’ve stayed out of swimming pools and off beaches because of bikini anxiety and generally wasted a lot of time and energy obsessing about my weight and my body. I’m done with that.

The UnDiet Your Life (UYL) Blog offers support to women who want to join me in learning how to nourish and move our bodies just because we want to be healthy and strong. UYL support women in learning how to manage our moods and stress without using food like drug. UYL women in unhooking happiness, fun and joy from what our bodies look like.

And finally, UnDiet Your Life is about supporting women in living badass lives, accomplishing goals that excite and energize us and leaving the world better than we found it.

Okay, Christmas has come and gone. Put away the fat food and start to eat right again. But don’t get compulsive. Don’t start out so hard on yourself that you feel penalized because that will undermine you.

And forget the fancy diets. The bottom line, proven by all the studies, is that eating fewer calories and burning them up makes you lose weight. Period. And that is good news, actually. And freeing. It means that if you are desperate for a piece of candy or cake or whatever, you can have it as long as it comes off your daily limit of calories. Just knowing that has helped me feel in control and not in a diet prison.

Remind yourself the caloric limit is not forever. That helps too. I’m not saying you can gorge once you lose weight. What I’m saying is that you will have more slack to maintain your weight than when you are cutting calories to make your body take calories from your own fat and burn it.

Move your body as much as you can and as often as you can. Don’t wait for that block of time to “exercise.” If you do, you may never do it. Walk everywhere you can instead of driving. Walk in the house if the weather is bad or it’s dark out. Go up and down stairs if you have them. Exercise when you watch TV. Just move that body and burn calories.

You don’t need fancy equipment or to even join a gym, but it they motivate you, do it. All I’m saying is you can exercise, even on the road, without them. Buy a set of cords and use those in your exercise routine. You can do a lot of exercises using a chair sitting in it or standing behind it.

The newest research reminds us to walk or jog briskly for about ten minutes -before- we stretch and exercise to loosen those muscles and avoid hurting them.

Next up: how to cut calories without suffering or falling off the wagon.

Xpansions – Elevation / Move Your Body 12″

I WANT TO MARRY SOMEBODY. *marries the mouse* On Aiba Masaki no Rekomen yesterday, Aiba played Move

I WANT TO MARRY SOMEBODY. *marries the mouse*

On Aiba Masaki no Rekomen yesterday, Aiba played Move Your Body and his solo Hello Goodbye from the Dream-A-Live album! Aiba I wub you <333333333 May I just agree with Oreiji that Move Your Body is like… skglksdnglh *doesn’t like it at first*, but as you listen to it more you gradually start to like it more xD Sakurap is sexxxxxxxx as usual, and the fast chorus is so addictive! And Hello Goodbye sounds like his previous solos – with that genki, hearts-and-rainbows-and-Aiba-smileeeee sorta mood. It makes you so happy ne kyaaaah XD

and.

Matsujun played シリウス on JUN STYLE today.
and THIS SONG.
IS.
SO.
BEAUTIFUL.
SO
AMAZING.
I love it sooooooo much. It’s the sort of ballad that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling and makes you want to cry because the music is so inspirational and sorta has this theme of “there’s always the sunshine after the storm”? And I love how at the end they go, “Aishiteru~“. *cries*
