As we rifle the shelves in search of those A-Team tapes, we might spare a memorial thought for two icons of the 60s and 70s, neither of whom lived to know either of the antecedents of today’s amalgam:  Jimi Hendrix was born on this date in 1942, exactly two years after his birthday-mate, the striking– and strikingly unlucky– actor martial arts exemplar and actor, Bruce Lee.

Sam Sparks (voiced by Anna Faris) and Flint Lockwood (voiced by Bill Hader)

Based on the 1978 children’s book by husband and wife team Judi and Ron Barrett, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is about an aspiring young inventor named Flint Lockwood. Flint lives on the island sardine fishing town Swallow Falls, which is facing a deep economic depression ever since sardines were declared to be “super gross”. When Flint invents a machine that turns water into food and then accidentally launches that machine into the stratosphere, he inadvertently saves the town when it starts to rain food. However, just when things are looking up for Flint, the food starts to mutate, resulting in bigger and bigger portions falling from the heavens to threaten not only Swallow Falls but the entire world.

Bill Hader energetically provides the voice for Flint and after doing so many scene-stealing comedic supporting roles in films such as Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Adventureland and Tropic Thunder it is nice to see Hader (well, his voice anyway) getting a lead role. Anna Faris (The House Bunny and The Scary Movie films) is also terrific voicing Sam Sparks, weather presenter and Flint’s love interest. After Princess Fiona’s transformation in Shrek, the moment in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs when Sam drops her faux ditz act to reveal her inner nerd provides one of the more impressive statements in a family film about what qualities make somebody attractive. Other impressive voice-roles include James Caan as Flint’s distant yet endearing father, Bruce Campbell as Swallow Falls’s corrupt and inept mayor and Mr. T as an over zealous police officer.

The computer-generated animation nicely facilitates the rapid-fire humour and increasingly bizarre spectacle of giant items of food falling from the sky. A lot of attention has been paid to the characters’ facial expressions so that characterisation is not secondary to the action. The humour in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is often anarchic, wicked, random and very funny. This is a fun film with a lot of spirit. It is filled with wonderfully dreadful food puns and even effectively parodies disaster films. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs has a lot going for it and it is honestly very difficult to say anything bad about a film that includes a complete throw-away gag where a man rips his own beard off for no good reason.

Mr. T could still get out there and whup some ass.  I wouldn’t want to mess with his mom.  Great vocal range by T also.  I think he really gets up there for those mid notes and really gets low for those mid notes too.  Sweet!

Yesterday Mr T the night elf mohawk finally came to the EU severs about a week or more after the US severs got him. I don’t understand why it took longer to put him into the EU severs.This was also the case for fraction change aswell  the US severs got it before the eu severs. So if you are on the EU severs why not go down and see mr t he is outside all major starting zones for both factions.

There is a new Mr T commercial out.  Chances are you’ve spotted it on a more reputable WoW news site.  This one in case you haven’t.

I like Mr T.  Really.  I do!  But, wtf, why is he becoming the posterboy for my WoW?  I associate with him about as much as with Ronald Reagan in this game.

At least William Shatner was also part of a fantasy world of sorts… and only did one commercial.  One Mr T would be great.  Bringing the Night Elf Mohawk grenade into the game is also great, tons of fun, but 2 commercials with Mr T already and a 3rd slated to come out next week? Wtf.  Go away now.

It’s the beautiful weekend, I hope it is indeed that and much more for everyone!!! Mine is off to a strange start. I literally passed out last night before 9, I guess I was super tired… That would be fine and dandy, but I woke up at 2:30 this morning and could not get back to sleep. I tried, I really did, but sleep was just not happening. My sleep has been off in the last week or so, not so sure what all that is about. I deem sleep as one of the most important components in life, at least for me, so when sleep doesn’t happen it makes sense that my whole existence feels off.  To say that I am a little “out of it” today, it putting it nicely. At any rate, much laundry has been done and perhaps a nap.

I was just thinking about Thanksgiving and it reminded me that in all my time on earth, I have never had green bean casserole. That is kind of strange, huh? Maybe one day, maybe one day……

Blizzard has Mr. T out there doing commercials for Wow again, and to coincide with this they have introduced the night elf mohawk grenade.

When it hits you, you get the the head shown above.  Gold chains not included.  Look to get hit in your local auction house.

Fortunately, you just need to right click to dismiss the effect.

I have a vague recollection of watching the Mr T cartoon as a kid  ( I am showing my age)  however Mr T never crossed my mind at all when playing warcraft.  That was  untill ” I’m Mr T and I’m a Night Elf Mohawk ”  The mohawk was awesome!  – Hey we want mohawks! – and the male Night Elves got mohawks.  ( BUT NOT THE CHICKS! – WHERES MY NIGHT ELF MOHAWK! Eh..  Eh…  make my Shadow Priest just that little more of a bad Night Elf A$$… but I digress. )

Mr T was cool.   Ozzy was cool,  Mini Me was cool ect ect…  Kirk was…  um you get the picture.  Icons of their own time and era ect. It was great to see them in the Warcraft ads,  we giggled a little bit.

Once I tried to make it all about Xena, but the trend never caught on.

I do not remember Mr T being mentioned at all -  I still love the idea of the Night Elf Mohawk.  Really.   However I am confused why he  gets his own mohawk grenade as part of such as an auspicious occasion as the 5th anniversary.  Sure its still fun, but surely there have been others who have made a much bigger impact on the culture of the game

How much convincing would it take the others to get them involved.  Maybe their appearance fee’s were too high, or are there more suprises to come…

Wow. I’ve run around saying “I’m a Night Elf Mohawk!” as much as the next guy ever since the over the top wow commercial featuring Mr. T. But wow, this is just ugly. I never want to be a night elf mohawk again…

Can’t really say that Blizzard fails at commercials

Yeah…  Words cannot express just how epic the Night Elf Mohawk has become…  I totally lmao’d the first time I watched it, as well as during the handful of replays!  I love Blizz’s advertising team, lol!

These may be funny, but, really, the mohawk heads are not that cute. And, wow, the last time I saw Mr. T in anything was the A-Team! Personally, I favored Hannibal Smith. After all, who doesn’t love it when a plan comes together?
