Have you ever just felt that rush of apathy? The only thing you feel like doing is to sit in a dark room and stare outside your window at the cold world surrounding you. Your phone buzzes; you don’t pick it up. Your brother knocks on your door; you don’t say a word. You don’t think about the one special person you always think about, you don’t listen to the iPod you never go anywhere without. This is me all the time. I’ll get a rush of excitement and act like the hyper, fun, happy person I was when I was a kid. Then, a couple days later, I start to get a rush of meloncholy and I’ll just sit there and cry while listening to sad music and being all PMS-ish to my friends. In between rushes of strong stuff like that, there’s total apathy. Nothing goes on in my head; it’s like all power over my thoughts and energy has been locked in a padded cell and I can’t find the key. Luckily, I have two friends that I can tell anything to. They’re amazing, and they understand the fact that I have no control over my mood swings. No, they’re not my only friends. Just the only two that I actually trust.

My question to you is, are you a mental freak like me? Do you have an unexplained rollercoaster of a life? Or is there something else that goes on in your head that doesn’t happen to most people? I understand that everyone’s brain is wired differently, but this post is pointed at the people whose minds are REALLY messed-up. Think about it.

Normally I don’t do song reviews on my blog, but I heard this song on the radio the other day and had to mention it. The song I’m Yours by Jason Mraz is a great song. I love the beat, the lyrics, and the artist himself. However, why did Lil’ Wayne come in and annihilate the song completely by making a remix. It not only sucks, but the lyrics are ridiculous. Seriously…”Knew I would love you like a fat kid loves food.” That is the craziest lyric in the world. Plus how can that possibly be romantic. I know he can do better than from listening to his other raps. Honestly remixing a song is cool, and can turn out being great, but some songs should just be left alone. Not only does it not make a good remixed song, but rapping in it just doesn’t go well together. Lil’ Wayne needs to stick to the material he knows because that he can do well, but trying to make something that sounds remotely romantic is a little ridiculous.

Mi se întâmplă câteodată să dau peste o melodie pe care o las să cânte în continuu. Unele melodii sunt povești de viață care merită ascultate iar și iar. Pentru că ele cuprind o scânteie, o stare sau un imbold de a fi altfel. Sau dimpotrivă.. de a te menține, de a arăta lumii cine ești. Și pentru că ceeea ce simt ascultând piesa – este un sentiment special, diferit sau chiar unic într-o oarecare măsură, recunosc că mesajul primului refren din “the prettiest friend”, este adevărat. Chiar am multe de învățat. Și multe de trăit. Sentimente de înțeles sau altele de retrăit. Și sunt tânăr.. am tot timpul.

Dar nu-mi place să fiu foarte personal. De-asta și scriu pe blog, ca să încerc să fac și pe alții să realizeze mici subtilități. Ascultați melodia și înțelegi versurile. Poate pe unii vă vor face să priviți în alt fel pe cei din jur. Poate pe alții vă vor face să vă amintiți de trecut, de vremea când erați tineri și, când ani întregi la rând, tot ceea ce urma a doua zi era ceva nou.. neexplorat.

Ce-mi place cel mai mult la melodie, e că te lasă să o termini cum îți dorești tu – “The way it unfolds, is yet to be told”. Big up pentru Jason Mraz, iată și un articol reprezentativ din blogul lui: “…On being love“. Al șaselea paragraf (The next time you don’t…) este și el deosebit; este ceva ce de multe ori evit să fac. Supongo que no soy una escritora innata ni nada parecido, me gusta crear blogs y repentinamente dejarlos por la mitad porque se me acaban las ideas. Desde ayer he estado leyendo el blog de Jason Mraz (si, el tipo ese medio loco que es cantante) y simplemente me ha motivado y cambiado mi percepcion de lo que significa escribir.

Hoy definitivamente ha sido un dia de muchas emociones, el haber comenzado las clases fue solo una pequeña porcion de lo que vivi durante el dia. Supe que se siente que un familiar te diga que te quiere aunque nunca te lo demuestra pero sabes que es sincero, vi a alguien agradecido por estar en el centro de mi corazon y descubri que el tiempo que pierdo quejandome de las cosas que no tengo lo puedo emplear para disfrutar y valorar las cosas que si tengo.

No vale la pena escribir solo sobre lo que se ve hacia el exterior porque terminamos dependiendo de los demas para que las cosas funcionen, es mejor buscar dentro de nosotros mismos aquellas cosas que merecen la pena ser compartidas.

This is a valid question. In fact, I am not sure if I have an answer to it yet.
I went running for about 30-40 minutes – not exactly sure how long – this morning, and I had a pretty big breakfast. Yes, I did. Not at Starbucks. At home. I should not go to Starbucks anymore every day. That will save me some money Plus I want to de-addict myself from it a little bit.

I have a therapy session today and should call back my group leader so that she knows, that I was skeptical but will come again. I mean, it was just something I have never done before and I am very reserved in the beginning. I also felt like the girls were talking about superficial stuff, ok, it was the first time and I don’t know, but all I had on my mind was philosophical, spiritual and so different. I am also not the oldest anymore, at least I know that at least two others are my age. In any case, they talked about boyfriends. How substantial. They all rely on having someone else while I try to get rid of that idea but it is difficult to do so if people around you hold on to that.

I have to get some work done before therapy and I promised myself I will be diligent and do so. Also goign to the gym later today to help my friend…
Anyway, tonight I am going to see Jason Mraz live I am very much looking forward to that. So, it will be a busy day but hopefully good.

Wir sind so gut vorbereitet, dass Benny sogar die Generalprobe abgesagt hat. Wir haben auch einiges vorbereitet, um euch einen unvergesslichen Auftritt zu liefern. Um eventuell aufkommenden Fragen vorzubeugen, gibt es jetzt alles Wissenswerte zu diesem monumentalen Ereignis.

Was ist School of Rock?

School of Rock ist ein Konzert zu Gunsten der Jugendförderung der Schwalmtalzupfer. Alle Einnahmen kommen den Schwalmtalzupfern zu Gute und deshalb kann das Event auch nur aufgrund zahlreicher Sponsoren stattfinden. Mit anderen Worten: Je mehr Leute kommen, desto mehr Geld kann die Jugendförderung Schwalmtalzupfer e. V. einnehmen. Plan B versucht durch die Organisation des Events und durch eine einzigartige Show viele Leute zum Konzert zu bringen und unterstützt damit die Schwalmtalzupfer.

Wer sind die Schwalmtalzupfer?

Die Schwalmtalzupfer bezeichnen sich selbst als “Europas größtes Gitarrenorchester” und bestehen aus Gitarrenspielern aus unterschiedlichen Generationen. Das Logo auf dem Plakat, das zwei Gitarrenspieler zeigt, gehört ihnen. Sie haben schon mehrere CDs aufgenommen, viele Auftritte gespielt und einige Ausflüge unternommen. Warum steht auf dem Plakat “Plan B & Friends”?

Wir werden auf diesem Auftritt Nachwuchstalenten aus Schwalmtal und Umgebung die Chance geben, sich zu präsentieren. Aus diesem Grund haben sich ein paar Sänger bei uns beworben, die ihr am Samstag zum ersten und wahrscheinlich auch einzigen Mal mit musikalischer Begleitung von Plan B hören und sehen könnt. An dieser Stelle wird auch verraten, wer alles auftritt und von welchem Künstler die Songs stammen. I was perusing my facebook wall when I happened upon a post one of my classmate’s mom had posted. It concerned a recent article on Foxnews.com about a UN proposed sex-education curriculum for kids. Now initially, I suppose this is all well and good. We’re in a world of reform, right? The Fox news article reads: “‘an informed approach to effective sex, relationships’ and HIV education that they say is essential for ‘all young people.’” All young people being ages 5-18. Here is a passage from the article.

Under the U.N.’s voluntary sex-ed regime, kids just 5-8 years old will be told that “touching and rubbing one’s genitals is called masturbation” and that private parts “can feel pleasurable when touched by oneself.”

By the time they’re 9 years old, they’ll learn about “positive and negative effects of ‘aphrodisiacs,” and wrestle with the ideas of “homophobia, transphobia and abuse of power.”

At 12, they’ll learn the “reasons for” abortions — but they’ll already have known about their safety for three years. When they’re 15, they’ll be exposed to direct “advocacy to promote the right to and access to safe abortion.” (From Fox News Article)

When I’m reading this, I’m trying to imagine my friend’s younger sister being told that “touching and rubbing one’s genitals is called masturbation.” This sweet little girl with blonde curls and little summer dresses is being taught to touch herself. No, correction, that she “can feel pleasurable when touched by oneself.” She can barely write a sentence on her own, let alone understand what the genitals of the human body even are! I can’t even remember what I was learning at that age, but I know that human anatomy wasn’t something I was too high one (and still am not). But then, I’m trying to image my younger brother knowing all about aphrodisiacs and their “positive and negative effects.” My younger brother, not to talk behind his back, won’t even memorize his multiplication tables, and we’re expecting him to be mature enough to handle this information? I wasn’t even that mature at his age…

And then teenagers are being indoctrinated into abortion debates which are still hot issues. The curriculum presentation speaks of:

“In these International Guidelines the need for sexuality education is interpreted from the standpoint that children and young people have a specific need for information and skills on sexuality education that makes a difference to their life chances.” (Page 7, paragraph 4)

Now, I don’t know what perspective a bunch of scientists and psychiatrists in lab coats are looking from, but from a high school student myself, I don’t see this “specific need.” What I see is what they mention next.

“The threat of life and their well-being exists in a range of contexts, whether it is in the form of abusive relationships, exposure to HIV or stigma and discrimination because fo their secual orientation.” (Page 7, paragraph 4)

Now lets look at their reasons for this “threat of life and well-being.”:

1. abusive relationships: This can come in many forms: friends, spouses, parents, others. But on the more common spectrum, its from the parents or boyfriend/girlfriend. Children at the ages this curriculum is aimed at, are very impressionable. They will pick up anything and everything they hear or see, and the people they mimic the most are their parents. Now how will giving the children of abusive families (victims in every degree) sex education at a young age help them survive? Oh sure, they know the body parts, and they know how people use them, but how is that going to help them handle their daddy or mommy from abusing them or their siblings? Maybe stop them from doing it in the future? Not likely, if its been ingrained into them at such a young age by the people who raised them. Sex education can’t do what good, honest nurturing can. How is teaching how to “touch oneself” encourage love? In a adolescent relationship, are we teaching the kids how to have sex, or how to respect? This curriculum hasn’t mentioned love yet. And I don’t think it will…

2. Exposure to HIV or stigma:You get exposed to this either by freak accident or someone elses carelessness or purposefully (albiet maybe ignorantly). A dirty needle, an infected parent, or just plain SEX. If a child gets HIV from their parent at birth or during the nursing period, there’s no ammount of education that can fix that, save by educating the young adult on SAFE and RESPONSIBLE and RESPECTABLE sex in LOVING RELATIONSHIPS. But this curriculum suggests that teaching kids at age 5 that touching yourself is pleasurable is going to avoid unsafe sex or exposure to HIV.

Kids eat dirt at age 5. How does this logic work?

3. discrimination: The discrimination the curriculum speaks of is “because of their sexual orientation.” This, I suppose, is all well and good. I’m all for respect among people, especially kids. Kids are cruel, so very cruel in social environments sometimes. There are books, novels, poems, stories, suicide notes, all relating back to school experiences dating back as far as the victims’ elementary years. I’ve seen it myself even in High School. I haven’t been exposed to sexual discrimination very much, but I don’t deny that it isn’t there. But how is teaching a kid to touch themselves or the positive and negative effects of aphrodisiacs going to teach them to love and respect each other? Why would they do it if they see their moms and dads fighting, abusing, or hurting themselves or each other? Or watching TV and seeing “Better sex” commercials or other media where sex=pleasure is shoved down their throats without a mention of “love”? you can’t even go on facebook anymore without a sex or promiscuous add on the side. The problem isn’t their sex education. You want to kill discrimination: teach respect. Respect and education start at the home, and they start with love. This curriculum doesn’t talk about love.

The FoxNews article shares a growing idea that kids are becoming sexualy active at an earlier age. I agree 100%. Could it have anything to do with kids being exposed to sex on the media and in everyday life? But this curriculum puts a lot of faith in kids, and perhaps some of it isn’t wrongly placed. But give a group of kids power tools, and someone’s bound to get hurt.
