Handsets users are trying to find out the International Mobile Equipment Identification (IMEI) of their mobile sets as the calls to devices without IMEI numbers will be blocked.

The mobile service provider companies will be stopping calls to the mobiles sets sans IMEI numbers as the Union Government’s deadline for barring calls to such devices is ending today. The decision in this regard was taken by the Government for security reasons.

If you want to check IMEI code of your mobile set, you have to give some commands to your mobile phone and the code will be on the screen of your hand set.

Type *#06# and press OK, IMEI number will appear on your screen. A mobile expert said that the handset also has number on its compliance plate that remains under the battery.

The IMEI number is a very useful code that gives details of mobile model and making date.

Um currículo pode ser feito em diversos editores, um deles ou talvez o mais utilizado é o Word da Microsoft.

Dica 1 - Jamais escreva no topo do documento “Currículo” ou “Curriculum Vitae”

Dica 2 - Cuidado com o número de páginas, um currículo deve ter no máximo 3 folhas.

Dica 3 - CUIDADO com erros de ortografia e etc, pois em um currículo é imperdoável erro de português – na dúvida use o corretor ortografico do editor de texto.

Dica 4 - Os dados pessoias devem ser informados na primeira página, não precisa descrever todos os dados de sua vida informe apenas:

• nome completo
• data de nascimento OU idade
• rua/numero/bairro/cidade/estado
• contato (celular e telefone fixo) – fique atento a ligação e mantenha uma caneta e papel em mãos (sempre), uma outra observação: jamais deixe uma criança atender a ligação e deixe o pessoal de recados super informado.
• e-mail (importante que verifique sua caixa diariamente)
• Não informe RG ou CPF (este são dados seus e particulares, onde a empresa somente a utilizara caso você seja contratado).

Dica 5 - Não anexar foto no currículo. Isto não é ético. A não ser que você vá fazer uma entrevista para modelo. No mais não.

Dica 6 - Objetivo–> seja claro, informe aqui qual é a vaga que você pretende  concorrer.

Dica 7 - Formação acadêmica: em ordem decrescente, ou seja, partindo da ultima escolaridade. Caso esteja cursando faculdade esqueça o primeiro grau (ensino fundamental). Caso tenha o segundo grau informe o segundo e o primeiro grau.

Dica 8 – Idiomas : seja realista e verdadeiro por favor!!! Nunca diga ser fluente em algum idioma se não é.

Dica 9 – Carreira Profissional: informe aqui quais empresas você trabalhou, data de entrada e saida, diga o motivo real da saida (nao adianta mentir ou ocultar pois a empresa entrará sempre em contato com os empregos anteriores), informe também qual o seu cargo,e relate quais foram as suas atividades.

Dica 10 - Aperfeiçoamento: Fez algum curso? Demorou, pra informar né?! Dica qual foi a instituição, carga horária do curso, data inicio e data fim, qual foi o curso.

Dica 11 - Nunca informe o salário em seu curriculo, não é etico, não é comum. Deixe este assunto para entrevista (e nunca pergunte quanto você vai ganhar, isto deve partir do entrevistador e na entrevista).

Dica 12 - A Principal: faça um revisão geral em seu currículo, leia, re-leia se for preciso. Peça para alguem ler com atenção e verifique se há erro de digitação ou de ortografia.

I recently faced the problem when I accidentally saved my presentation as .pptx  but had to save as .ppt, since the machine I had to give the presentation on didn’t have MS Office 2007.

So at the last moment I realized what I’d got myself into, anyway, there’s a brilliant site named Zamzar, which helps people like us to get out of such situations.

Here’s how to go about it.

Muitas pessoas costumam confundir certos termos na área de informática, principalmente para quem está começando.

Algo muito comum é quando perguntamos (em uma entrevista, em sala de aula ou no cotidiano):

Qual software (programa) você usa para editar textos, planilhas etc..?

Muitos respondem: “Windows”

Retificando a resposta acima:

A pergunta se refere ao Pacote Office. Quando nos referimos a palavra “pacote” podemos interpretá-la como sendo um conjunto de programas de computador.

Neste caso os principais programas que fazem parte do Pacote Office são: Word, Excel, PowerPoint e Access.

A resposta dada acima está totalmente incorreta.

Vamos explicar o por que, veja:

Windows é a base (é o alicerce) conhecido como Sistema Operacional. Todo computador precisa de um alicerce, ou seja, todo computador precisa ter instadado um Sistema Operacional (o nome já nos diz: um sistemas que faz o computador operar).

Sem ele nada funciona, pois ele é o grande responsável por reconhecer o seu mouse, o seu teclado, um disquete, um pen-drive, o monitor entre vários outros componentes.

Então fique atento:

Resumo: Windows é o sistema operacional que faz o computador funcionar. O Office é um conjunto de programas que permite a nós usuários digitar um currículo, calcular um orçamento, criar um banco de dados etc…

Project Renaissance is an OpenOffice.org project aiming to deliver a new user interface (UI) for OOo.  The team recently completed the prototyping phase and is asking for users to provide feedback on the 8 UI options.  The UI options strongly resemble the Microsoft Office 2007’s Ribbon UI.

Response to the Ribbon like user interface options has been, well, somewhat one-sided:

e7 writes: “This would be a killer feature for not using OpenOffice.org… Don’t implement this, do other things – like live editing in presentation, a correct ttf/otf export or such things.”

Andis writes: “I would like to see list of problems in previous interface of Impress and how these problems are addressed in the new interface. Because now I see only problems (at least for me) with that new interface…..”

.wu writes: “that’s brilliant! add even more to the top part of the UI because, you know – the screens aren’t getting wider…”

The three comments are fairly representative of the comments as of August 5th.  The concerns boil down to why work on a new UI when there are other higher priority items for the OOo to tackle, why introduce such a significant change to users and why waste vertical screen space?

I can’t speak for the OOo community as to why they’re working on this versus some other requirements.

The second concern raised is interesting.  Since many MS Office users are still using Office 2003 and some have resisted the shift to Office 2007 because of the Ribbon UI, why would OOo follow suit with a Ribbon-like UI?  A UI that more closely resembles Office 2003 will make it easier to adopt OOo versus training 500 or 20,000 or 300,000 employees on using the new UI found in Office 2007.  A commenter, talkimposter writes: “…In fact I use OpenOffice at work because they moved to Office 2007 and I just can’t stand that STUPID interface for idiots…” On the other hand, while initial user reaction to the Ribbon UI has often been negative, this is typically the case with many release to release UI changes. However, as commenter sRc writes: “I like where this is going, myself. To be honest, the Office 07 Ribbon does look “functionally challenged” at first, but once you get used to it, it is so much nicer to work with then a standard interface. After working on a project in Office 07 at my work, I find myself missing the Ribbon now every time I load up OOo.”

The third concern raised is much more troubling.  Screens have been getting wider, and when netbooks are considered, OOo should be innovating UIs that conserve vertical space.  Widescreen displays were not common when Microsoft researched and introduced the Ribbon UI.  Could OOo be making a mistake and following the leader with a UI technique that no longer fits with today’s devices?  Said differently, would Microsoft have introduced a horizontal Ribbon if they were researching a UI for today’s computers?  Interestingly enough, Lotus Symphony uses a vertical Ribbon-like menu system on the right-hand pane.  This approach takes advantage of widescreen computer displays.  I didn’t understand that design decision until today since I still have a 4:3 screen for work.  So maybe OOo should consider UI research conducted more recently than trying to mimic Microsoft’s approach?

You can test drive the UIs and provide feedback.  The prototype test requires Java 6 and takes about 2 minutes to load.  Well worth the time and effort.

By small I mean someone trying to get some work done  to prepare invoices and accounts  track expenditure on a Project and against a budget . Would you commend it ?   Is  it user friendly  or only suitable  for larger business  with full time accounts personnel and a dedicated IT department  with  help desk staff  both for user education  issues and ongoing problem solving  issues ? Would I be best to take a degree in IT technology before I try and use it . Do i need to be a programmer in Visual or similar before I can get it to  work for me ? Will   I be ploughing on in thro all the hum drum of  daily office work quite quickly  if I start to use it  or will I be banging my head on the  desk in frustration  ?

I needed to thank the following individuals who had indirectly helped me in my quest for finding my career.

They don’t have the slightest idea of what they’ve done, but somehow I wanted to write about how they helped me in very simple and almost unnoticed ways.

I wanted everyone to know (or anyone who have the time to read this blog) how I have appreciated their simple contributions.

I cannot remember how many days had passed since my last conversation with Mark Arvin Dionisio (bear) on Yahoo! Messenger (yeah, I can look it up on the archive, but I also have the option not to check the date ^^) .. On that very conversation, this classmate and treasured friend of mine told me to bear in mind (partnered with confidence) these words when applying and when facing an interview,  “I am JJ, from PUP, take it or leave it.” Simple words, and maybe for a lot of people, it may sound nothing. But it was something that left a mark on me. Those were the very words that always rang in my ear and had never failed to push me up when I’m feeling little hesitations about my capacity. It helped me to stop myself from self-pitying and from not believing in me. It was really a great help. I have always been thinking for the past few days that “This is me. I am me. I am Jj. If you want me, you’ll have to accept me for who I am.” This also refrains me from pretending and from not being true to myself and to what I am feeling. Really, many thanks to Arv, knowing him, he might not have any single idea that somehow his words had hit that hard on somebody else’s personality.

Next, to Mr. Jerry Liao. We had this seminar at school about the use and new features of MS Office 2007. He was the one who taught us about the function: Shift + Alt.. So what can this do? It highlights parts of your documents, it highlights your chosen words disregarding the placement of those words. You can highlight the center of your document and format it whichever way you wanted without affecting the other parts. Shift function alone would not do this magic. He taught this to us only for entertainment purposes or to give MS Word a fun view. He highlighted some parts of the document and change their colors. It looks good! And fun! (try it.. go) That’s why it was retained in my memory. I never thought that it would have such a huge use in my life. During my hands-on exam on MS Office earlier this day, I first had troubles with MS Word. I was about to give as I was running out of time, until I remembered what Mr. Jerry had taught us way back on that seminar (take note: it’s the only thing that I really remembered on that seminar, never thought it would come in handy for this time). You see, I was so thankful, and even though this was a non-personal showing of gratitude, I still think he deserved an appreciation. ^^

Hiks…..curhat sana – curhat sini, katanya kurang “Service Pack” nya…
Huwaaaaaa……apalagi tueh?

Tanya mbah google deh….udah dapet di klik, trus di donlot, habis di donlot trus di install.
Tapi kagak tahu kenapa tueh installnya pake lama. 1 jam saya tunggu….
2 jam saya masih tungguin….
Menginjak mo 3 jam lebih…..saya pulang…………

Sebenernya gak se-hiperbola itu siy…..Cuma lama nya itu loch yang bikin pening!!!!!
Akhirnya karena sabtu ini “HARPITNAS” jadi saya inisiatip ke kantor. Mumpung gak ada orang juga siy…
Heee…..nyampe kantor hidupin kompi sana-kompi sini.
Siap2 install,…..tapi karena saya iseng, liat-liat Cd software…eeee…..dapet juga windows XP nya…
Di cuba install kuk malah gak bootable…..tapi malah dapetnya Service pack2…
Ya sudah saya install itueh ajah, cuz yang kemaren ternyata gak berhasil.
Udah berhasil menginstall SP2, saya ganti install MsOffice07, bisa siy….
Dasar ongol-ongol saya instalnya satu-satu…..padahal key nya yah Cuma itu lah….
Akhirnya yang kedua saya install lagi udah gak bisa,
Hiks…..
Uninstall lagi di install lagi….
Eh gak bisa?

Akhirnya “restore lagi…….restore lagi”
Pas di install key nya gak mau lagi…..
Finally saya memutuskan untuk install SP2nya lagi…
“SEKALI LAGI SODARA-SODARA……”

Tapi akhirnya pas di install lagi MS office07 standart udah bisa…..sekarang sudah selesai. Tinggal pulang….mandi…..maem….sholat…..trus baru bobo’ siang….
Liburan yang menyenangkan dengan segala keruwetan yang ada. Tapi ahirnya “Bisa Juga”

Next……..mencari antivirus buat memberantas virus “Sality32”
