O transatlântico MSC Fantasia, segundo a operadora MSC, é 4 m mais alto que a Torre de Pisa.

O navio tem capacidade para transportar cerca de 4 mil passageiros, além de 1.325 tripulantes. O transatlântico tem 333 m de comprimento e 52 m de altura. Segundo a operadora, os motores que impulsionam o barco são equivalentes à força de 120 motores de Ferrari.

Na parte de entretenimento, os destaques do navio são shopping, cinema, piscina coberta e um simulador de um carro de Fórmula 1.

Spring Break was great! My mom, sisters, and grandparents all came to meet me in Barcelona to catch a cruise on the Mediterranean. I really have missed my family so I was so excited to see them and spend quality time with them. I have not gone this long ever in my life without seeing my mom or sisters.

The cruise was an Italian ship called the MSC Fantasia, it is brand new, only 4 months old, and the most beautiful ship I have ever seen. The crew was so welcoming and really made you feel at home, the food was spectacular (Italian food all day every day), and the entertainment like the shows, casino, and disco, all made it wonderful.

Our first stop was Marseille, France where we took a car to Provence, which is in the South of France. Next, we went to Genoa, Italy where we took another car ride to Portofino, which is the Italian Riviera. Then, we went to Naples, Italy where we took a really long and nauseating car ride along the Italian coast towards Positano. In the end, the car ride was worth the views but I got extremely sick. After Naples we went to the capital of Sicily called Palermo. The next stop was my favorite stop and that was to Tunisia, which is located in North Africa. This was my favorite stop because it was very different then the rest since it was a poorer country with villages and really beautiful mountains. Finally, we went to Palma de Mallorca where we happened to be there for the coldest and windiest day so no beaches and sun in the Balearic Islands of Spain!

Each stop was very beautiful. This was not really much of a touristy trip, which I have done with my friends all semester where we go to main cities and visit museums and historical sights. My cruise was more of a relaxing vacation where we went to beautiful places with not much historical sights, just cute little towns. I really enjoyed that aspect of this trip because I was so sick of traveling and running around cities to try and make sure I could see everything important. Every place I went to was quaint towns and I even found my honeymoon destination, Portofino, Italy!

Now I am off to find this romantic future husband of mine to take me to this honeymoon destination!

TIPS:

- Most my friends traveled around Europe by train and had to drag a huge luggage with them from place to place. If I were to recommend a trip for future study abroad students I would definitely recommend a cruise. Its easier, you get to see a whole lot more, you have a home base (no dragging suitcases), all meals included, and just plain EASIER!

Vi har hatt en flott vinterferie på MSC Fantasia. Men uken etter skjedde det dramatiske ting med båten. Da den lå i havn på Mallorca slet den seg fra kai. Jeg måtte bare ha med bildene av det i bloggen min.

Lørdag fylte far, svigerfar og farfar 85 år. Vi var i sjøen hele dagen, på vei mot Madeira. Det ble gaver og sang på formiddagen. Og middag på den fine franske restauranten på dekk 16. En flott feiring. Mange sms-er.

 

 

Stian åpner presangen fra familien på Tasta mens Tore ser i kikkerten han fikk fra farmor og farfar.

I dag fyller Stian 16 og Tore 13. Feiringen med alle blir i kveld. Men det ble en samling på rommet til Inger Anne og Sigbjørn med presanger i formiddag.

Vi er på vei fra Barcelona til Madeira. Har passert Gibraltar. Kommer til Madeira lørdag morgen. Dagen begnte med overskyet vær. Men utpå ettermiddagen har det blitt mer og mer sol. Vi har prøvd noen av badebassengene for første gang. Vi har sett 4D-film. Det er som berg og dalbane, bare stolen står på samme sted hele tiden. Men den rører på seg og du får vind i håret. Jeg holdt øynene igjen for det meste. Nå er Stian og Ørjan på 16. dekk for å prøve leirdueskyting. Håper Stian får være med, i formiddag sa de han måtte være 18 år, men at han kanskje kunne få prøve i ettermiddag. I kveld er det gallamiddag. Vi skal kle oss i de fineste klærne vi har. Det må vel være bra nok for to som har bursdag.

En lang reise. Først til Amsterdam, så Milano. Buss til Genoa. Bagasjen ble tatt ombord for seg. Vi hadde sjekket inn på internett, så det gikk greit. Nå er vi spente på fortsettelsen.

Die MSC Fantasia wurde erst im Dezember in Neapel getauft und ist also fast noch nagelneu. Die Fantasia wurde von STX France gebaut. Ist für mich ein Kandidat für meine nächste Kreuzfahrt. Mir gefällt das Konzept des MSC Yacht Club. Eine schöne Suite mit Concierge-Dienst und exklusivem Butler-Service. Ein mit einer Glaskupper bedeckter Pool. Obersvationslounge mit verglaster Front für eine freie Sicht auf das Meer …. Das alle könnte mich schon locken. Hat aber sicherlich auch seinen Preis. Wie mir scheint, ist man ab 2.000 Euro für eine Woche dabei. Man gönnt sich ja sonst nix, oder?

Comme prévu, nous sommes allées  ( entre filles ) voir le départ du dernier né des paquebots des Chantiers de chez nous ( Saint Nazaire pour ceux qui auraient encore des doutes ^^ ) : le MSC Fantasia, second plus grand paquebot construit z’ici ( et oui, un peu de chauvinisme, mais ça fait pas de mal )

Mais revenons à nos moutons … Donc avec Mamounette, nous avons affronté le froid pour voir le départ.
On est arrivées juste à temps, puisque le paquebot commençait à partir à 14.00 et nous avons garé la voiture à 14.10.
Le MSC Fantasia avait déjà commencé sa marche arrière dans la Loire ( d’ailleurs, du bout de notre rue, nous l’avons vu entre les bâtiments d’habitation, c’était impressionnant )
Voici donc où il en était quand nous nous sommes positionnées, appareils prêts à mitrailler, sur la jetée.

Je vais quand même vous expliquer un peu la manœuvre car vous devez vous demander pourquoi donc elle recule cette barque ?
A la fin de sa construction, le paquebot ( celui là comme tous les autres – sauf le Queen Mary 2 pour cause de dimensions hors normes ) se trouve dans la Forme Joubert pour les finitions. Kézako ? Pour faire simple, la Forme Joubert c’est un petit bassin ( 350m de long pour 50 de large ), entre deux portes : une donnant vers le port et une donnant sur la Loire.
Le paquebot est donc dans ce bassin, nez vers le port et derrière vers la Loire. Pour sortir, une seule solution : reculer dans la Loire, tiré par des remorqueurs. Car oui, à Saint Nazaire, c’est encore la Loire, l’Océan Atlantique commence un peu avant La Baule, à dix kilomètres de là.

Mais la manœuvre en se limite pas à une marche arrière ( hu hu hu, ça serait trop facile sinon ). Car la barque, si elle sort de son emplacement en reculant et qu’une fois sortie, elle avance … bah elle tourne les fesses à la mangeoire et elle entame une remontée de la Loire, vers Nantes ( et prenant soin de rester coincée sous le pont de Saint Nazaire en passant )
Donc il faut faire un demi-tour pour aller vers la Grande Bleue. Et là, c’est encore le job des remorqueurs ( et du pilote du port, présent à la barre du MSC Fantasia )
C’est donc parti pour un petit pas de danse !

Voilà, le plus dur est passé, il y a plus qu’à se laisser porter vers l’Océan ( on dirait Némo qui retrouve sa barrière de corail … ^^ ) toujours tiré par les remorqueurs.
Pour ceux qui se posent la question, dans le fond, les arbres, c’est Saint Brévin ( ça va rappeler des souvenirs à ma Cocotte )

Ah oui, j’oubliais de vous dire, mais Zhom a bossé à bord … Il se souvient pu trop où ni quoi, étant donné qu’il y a 3 paquebots identiques en construction en même temps et qu’on s’y mélange des fois les pinceaux, mais toujours est il qu’il a été faire son petit tour dessus… Si y’a pas des privilégiés hein quand même !
