Net zoals wij in de jaren zeventig niet wisten dat het hiv-virus bestond, lijkt het of sommige jonge homo’s het virus vandaag vergeten zijn. Dat kun je ze niet kwalijk nemen. Zij hebben de gruweltijd van de jaren tachtig niet meegemaakt. Het was 1981 toen voor het eerst over aids gesproken werd. In 1983 was er de eerste dode en daarna braken jaren van paniek uit.

Ik heb in die jaren een homobar ingericht: The Boots. Na de seksuele revolutie waren holebicafés erg populair, maar een jaar na de opening hebben we een deel van het café moeten sluiten omdat er geen volk meer kwam. Iedereen was bang. Niemand durfde elkaar nog aan te raken uit schrik voor die onbekende ziekte. Ik heb toen een stuk of tien kennissen verloren. Twee vriendjes zijn gestorven. Aids heeft mijn vriendenkring in de jaren tachtig fors uitgedund.

Roze opa

Nadat in de helft van de jaren tachtig duidelijk werd hoe de ziekte werd overgedragen en we wisten hoe we ons tegen hiv konden beschermen, heeft de homobeweging zich herpakt. Zieken werden verzorgd en preventieteams leverden fantastisch werk. In 1990 kwam er een eerste roze zaterdag en een emancipatiegolf die tot meer rechten zoals het homohuwelijk leidde. Als je dat allemaal hebt meegemaakt, is het logisch dat je anders denkt over veilige seks.

Toch wil ik niet de roze opa uithangen die gaat betuttelen. Je moet de jonge generatie wel duidelijk uitleggen waarom veilig vrijen belangrijk is. Vroeger werden we om de oren geslagen met Benettonfoto’s waarop een familie rond het sterfbed van een aidspatiënt stond. Vandaag zijn de omstandigheden anders en de preventie moet daarop worden afgestemd. Laat de boodschap van veilig vrijen niet ondergesneeuwd worden door kindertekeningen. Stuur hen bijvoorbeeld naar het tropisch instituut en deel condooms uit in homosauna’s.

Condoommoeheid

De homo-emancipatie heeft één negatief aspect met zich meegebracht en dat is de condoommoeheid. Door de virusremmers zie je de aftakeling niet meer. Mensen worden roekelozer. Toch neuken niet alle homo’s er op los. Het gaat om een kleine risicogroep. Maar net aan hen moeten we klaar en duidelijk uitleggen waarom een condoom zo belangrijk is.

Ook al ga je er niet meer dood van, hiv is geen pretje. De medicatie moet heel stipt worden ingenomen. De kwaaltjes en bijwerkingen zijn niet te tellen. En het ergste is waarschijnlijk de onzekerheid waarmee je bij elke infectie te maken krijgt. Ik heb geen pasklare antwoorden hoe die nieuwe preventiecampagnes er moeten uitzien, maar het is belangrijk dat er geleerd wordt uit de geschiedenis. Veilig vrijen is de enige mogelijkheid.

I am sick and tired of good, hard working Americans being insulted, being ignored, being attacked for questioning the eligibility of Barack Obama. People that are supposed to look after our best interest and the best interest of this country, are taking their cues from political agendas, lazily accepting status quo or being bought. This includes the Mainstream Media, State Election officials, US Congressmen, judges of all ranks and certainly the Obama camp of left wing socialists. Even the best of those in the media, such as Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck have either stayed away from this constitutional crisis issue or joined in belittling “birthers.”

Many of us are guessing why those on Fox are not covering this issue. The consensus, I believe, is that Fox Management has said no to covering this issue. Even if the people doing research for Fox were restrained or bought off, O’Reilly, Hannity and Beck are not stupid enough to not get it.

So, therefore, The Citizen Wells blog is going to do two things.

1. Each day, a fact sheet, truths and facts that are self evident about Obama’s eligibility including interviews with Sarah Obama, Barack’s Kenyan grandmother, facts about Obama’s birth and reports from media in the US and Africa. This will serve as an Internet Billboard and will be posted everyday until either someone in the MSM accurately reports on this or action is taken by a judge or elected official.

2. I am issuing a challange to Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly and others in the media to step up and do their jobs. I will answer any questions they may have, debate them and I challenge them to dispute the facts.

To my knowledge, the only person in the MSM who has covered Obama’s eligibilty issue to any extent is Lou Dobbs and he did this on CNN of all places. Mr. Dobbs consistently stated his no brainer question again recently on the O’Reilly show on Fox. Lou Dobbs on CNN earlier referred to the COLB presented by the Obama camp as a piece of paper referring to another piece of paper. He then simply stated why doesn’t Obama present an authentic birth certificate. We applaud you Mr. Dobbs. This is such a common sense basic question to ask yet few in the media have asked it.

The eligibilty issues surrounding Barack Obama have been extensively covered on this blog and many other sites. To not cover this on the mainstream media is certainly unprofessional, un American and I believe criminal.

I am challenging those in the media to do their jobs, to serve their customers, their fellow Americans and cover this crisis. You are being out scooped and many of you are going down the tubes fast. That is no surprise. I am also challenging those on Fox, the only TV network to seriously question Obama and his agenda. O’Reilly, Hannity and Beck, if you do not cover this story, it will eventually rise to the surface and you will be lumped together with the masses of biased, leftist, talking heads that pretend to do journalism and reporting.

“More Jewish Control of the Mainstream Media in America We Are Told Does Not Exist

A news piece appearing in the New York Times for 11/23/2009 entitled “Experts Say Iran Uses the Death Penalty as a Way to Intimidate Opponents” can be chalked up as yet one more instance of Jewish control of Western media the world is told “does not exist“.

Clearly, as the title indicates, it is a piece designed to paint Iran–the next scheduled victim of Jewish ritual mass murder-as a backwards, theocratic, blood-thirsty state that resorts to murdering political opponents of a tyrannical regime who just want to be ‘free’. It talks of “judicially sanctioned” killings done to “intimidate” the political opposition and to “quell pockets of ethnic unrest around the nation“. It goes on to point out in worried tones that “the trend” towards executions were a response to the “political tumult” following the June presidential election and that this month a “fifth person” connected to the protests was sentenced to death.

“Judicially sanctioned killings” designed to “intimidate” political opposition? Hmmmmm, now where have we heard about this before about a million, billion times?????

Oh yeah, that’s right IN ISRAEL, EVERY DAY FOR THE LAST 60 YEARS.

Mind you, 5 people “sentenced to death”, not executed yet. If we compare the 5 people “sentenced” to death vs. the 1400 KILLED by Israel in her most recent exercise in Jewish ritual murder known as Operation Cast Lead, that works out to a ratio of 280 to 1.

For better perspective, let’s just go down the list here of a few newspaper headlines appearing in the wake of Israel’s attack on Gaza recently–

My memory isn’t what it used to be, but I don’t remember any headlines like these appearing in the New York Times during Israel’s recent feeding frenzy in Gaza, do you gentle gentile reader? Keep in mind as well that this is just GAZA, and only a smattering of the news stories out there dealing with Israel and her recent murderous rampage.

Other goodies appearing in this article include–“Some prisoners have said they were tortured, raped and sodomized by prison authorities…”

You mean like Abu Ghraib, where we have the photos to prove it?

The Jewish-owned New York Times then goes further in its demonizing of Iran (as a preparatory step to decimating it a’ la Iraq) with “In recent years, Iran has had the highest rate of executions of any nation except China. That reputation was solidified under President Ahmadinejad, who has presided over a quadrupling in executions, to 346 in 2008 from 86 in 2005, the year he took office, according to Amnesty International.”

346 people killed in a year, roughly one per day. What did they do? Were they convicted of capital crimes, such as murder, rape, or dealing drugs? The paper does not say.

Now consider that on average Israel kills roughly 2 Palestinians a day, almost always civilians. A third of these murders are children who generally are killed execution-style, either with a bullet to the head or to the torso. Over the last 5 years, 4,000 Palestinian civilians have been killed, and of these documented state-sanctioned executions, only a handful have been prosecuted and usually on charges of “improper use of a weapon” or something totally unrelated to the historically-documented business of Jews murdering people as a result of their status as Gentiles.

Indeed, like a witch’s spell, the poison of Jewish propaganda is whispered into the ears of Americans on a minute by minute basis–sometimes loudly and sometimes quietly–from virtually every piece of news appearing in America’s dailies. And yet, are the American people aware of how they are being used as tools for evil purposes?

Perish the thought. This article, appearing in “the freest country in the world”, America, will be used by pro-Israel warmongers–Jewish or not–in adding one more reason to the list as to why America should expend even more of her precious money and blood in fighting the Jewish state’s wars for her.

Dr. Kevin Trenberth, the head of the Climate Analysis Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research and prominent man-made global warming advocate, wrote in an e-mail: “The fact is we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t.”

Ah, the Faithful and a “scientist” to boot….He is one of the people in the emails contained in “Climategate” by the way.

Climategate being the leaking onto the internet of data and emails that shows that Man-Made Global Warming is a farce.

I have said in past blogs what a crock I think Global Warming is and have provided evidence. But as the British author and satirist Douglas Adams once said, “Proof denies faith” and the two last things the Global Warming faithful want is to be wrong, and to have to defend their faith against the proof that they are wrong.

If you try looking for the story of the files and emails that show a major cover-up of information from the faithful to preserve their faith at all costs you’ll not see much of anything on the Mainstream Media. Because, like Van Jones, ACORN,  and other stories that the Liberal Elite don’t want to to talk about they want to just crush it and hope it goes away.

While few U.S. politicians bother to question whether humans are changing the world’s climate — nearly three years ago the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change concluded the evidence was unequivocal — public debate persists. And the newly disclosed private exchanges among climate scientists at Britain’s Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia reveal an intellectual circle that appears to feel very much under attack, and eager to punish its enemies.

In one e-mail, the center’s director, Phil Jones, writes Pennsylvania State University’s Michael E. Mann and questions whether the work of academics that question the link between human activities and global warming deserve to make it into the prestigious IPCC report, which represents the global consensus view on climate science.

“I can’t see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report,” Jones writes. “Kevin and I will keep them out somehow — even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!”

In another, Jones and Mann discuss how they can pressure an academic journal not to accept the work of climate skeptics with whom they disagree. “Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal,” Mann writes.

“I will be emailing the journal to tell them I’m having nothing more to do with it until they rid themselves of this troublesome editor,” Jones replies.

Your typical liberal response to any disagreeing with them, intimidate them, then if that doesn’t work, censor them.

This is downright Orwellian. What the Post describes is not a vigorous debate but an attempt to suppress debate–to politicize the process of scientific inquiry so that it yields a predetermined result. This does not, in itself, prove the global warmists wrong. But it raises a glaring question: If they have the facts on their side, why do they need to resort to tactics of suppression and intimidation?

It is hard to see how this is anything less than a definitive refutation of the popular press’s contention that global warmism is settled science–a contention that both the <LONDON>Times and the Post repeat in their articles on the revelations: “The evidence pointing to a growing human contribution to global warming is so widely accepted that the hacked material is unlikely to erode the overall argument,” the Times claims. The Post leads its story by observing that “few U.S. politicians bother to question whether humans are changing the world’s climate,” and that “nearly three years ago the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change concluded the evidence was unequivocal.”

But don’t expect much more from the faithful than there usual scorn, contempt and disrespect.

This should be considered not merely a scientific scandal but an enormous journalistic scandal. The elite press treats skepticism about global warming as a mental defect. It uses a form of the No True Scotsman fallacy to delegitimize people who dissent from the (manufactured) “consensus.” Dissent is scientifically unserious, therefore dissenting scientist A is unserious. There’s no way to break in. The moment someone disagrees with the “consensus” they disqualify themselves from criticizing the consensus. That’s not how science is supposed to work. Skeptics who’ve received a tote bag from some oil company (me: or insurance company in the Health Care debate) are branded as shills, but scientists who live off of climate-change-obsessed foundations or congressional fiefdoms are objective, call-it-like-they-see-it truth seekers. Question these folks and you get a Bill Murrayesque, “Back off, man. We’re scientists.” (NRO)

An even larger reason this is a journalistic scandal is that governments want to spend — literally — trillions of dollars on climate change.

And so will some of it’s biggest Prophets (Profits, that’s a funny ) , Like Al Gore and Nancy Pelosi.

James Taranto of Best of the Web Today reminds us of Al Gore’s statement in an interview with Grist, “I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis.” In plain English, the former Vice President and Presidential candidate supports lying in favor of the causes he believes in and supports.

Taranto even manages to turn up a Stanford University professor, Stephen H. Schneider, who explained to Discover that in order to make the world a better place scientists sometimes have to “offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have.”

Interject FOXNews: Professor Phil Jones, the head of the Climate Research Unit, and Professor Michael Mann at Pennsylvania State University, who has been an important scientist in the climate debate, have come under particular scrutiny. Among his e-mails, Professor Jones talks to Professor Mann about the “trick of adding in the real temps to each series…to hide the decline [in temperature].”

The poor will be hurt. Economies wrenched apart. And journalistic skepticism is almost nowhere to be found. If you know people in the “skeptic community” (for want of a better term) or even just normal, honest scientists, the observation that federal and foundation funding and groupthink is driving, or at least distorting, the climate debate is commonplace. But it’s given almost no oxygen in the elite press, because they are in on it. (NRO)

In another exchange, Professor Jones tells Professor Mann: “If they ever hear there is a Freedom of Information Act now in the UK, I think I’ll delete the file rather than send to anyone” and “We also have a data protection act, which I will hide behind.” Professor Jones further urges Professor Mann to join him in deleting e-mail exchanges about the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s controversial assessment report: “Can you delete any e-mails you may have had with Keith re: [the IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report]?” In another e-mail, Professor Jones told Professor Mann and Professor Malcolm Hughes at the University of Arizona and Raymond S. “Ray” Bradley at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst: “I’m getting hassled by a couple of people to release the CRU station temperature data. Don’t any of you three tell anybody that the UK has a Freedom of Information Act!”

Professor Jones complains to another academic: “I did get an e-mail from the FOI person here early yesterday to tell me I shouldn’t be deleting e-mails” and “IPCC is an international organization, so is above any national FOI. Even if UEA holds anything about IPCC, we are not obliged to pass it on.” We only have e-mails from Professor Jones’ institution, and, with his obvious approach to delete files; we have no idea what damaging information has been lost.

Attempts to disguise the inconvenient truth of the Medieval Warm Period (MWP):

Pat Michaels, a climate scientist at the Cato Institute, told The Wall Street Journal: “This is what everyone feared. Over the years, it has become increasingly difficult for anyone who does not view global warming as an end-of-the-world issue to publish papers. This isn’t questionable practice, this is unethical.”

Unfortunately, we’ve a long, long way to go before the public mood (and scientific truth) is reflected by our policy makers. There are too many vested interests in AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming myth), with far too much to lose either in terms of reputation or money, for this to end without a bitter fight.

The New York Times argues: “The documents appear to have been acquired illegally and contain all manner of private information and statements that were never intended for the public eye, so they won’t be posted here.” – This from the same news organization that regularly publishes classified government documents!

As long as they were related to George W. Bush, Dick Cheney or Donald Rumsfeld that is. I used to call the New York Times, Al-Jazerra East because they were so gung-ho for the propaganda victories and damn the consequences.

US President Barack Obama said Tuesday the world has moved “one step closer” to a “strong operational agreement” on climate change at next month’s Copenhagen summit after his talks with Indian and Chinese leaders.

And the Mainstream Media is going to do everything Orwellianly possible to not talk about it. EVER.

De anholdte demonstranter skal blandt andet sættes ind i Vestre Fængsel, oplyser fængselsdirektør Peter Vesterheden.

Han siger, at gymnastiksalen kan indrettes, så der er plads til 40 i en kortere periode. Om natten vil der blive lagt madrasser ud på gulvet. De fjernes om dagen, så der bliver mulighed for forskellige aktiviteter og blandt andet se fjernsyn. Andre anholdte skal bo to og to i en enmandscelle på otte kvadratmeter – den ene i sengen, den anden på en madras på gulvet.

Fængselsinspektør: Kedeligt og rimeligt surt
Peter Vesterheden medgiver, at forholdene for især de 40, der skal være i gymnastiksalen, ikke bliver rare:

Forholdene bliver kritiseret af formanden for Kriminalforsorgsforeningen, John Hatting.

Kriminalforsorgsforeningen har vel at mærke intet med Kriminalforsorgen at gøre, men står på de kriminelles side imod de borgere, som John Hatting har så ondt af – tænk, de kommer med det ene formål at smadre byen (igen), så bør de da også mindst interneres på Hotel Marriott.

»Det er jo ikke den måde, vi bryster os af at være nation på. Vi vil gerne stille fornuftige forhold til rådighed for borgerne, uanset om de er på plejehjem eller i fængsel«, siger John Hatting til DR Nyheder.

Hiv wordt overgedragen wanneer een slijmvlies of de bloedsomloop in aanraking komt met lichaamsvloeistoffen zoals bloed of sperma. Bij anale seks is het risico op overdracht veel groter dan bij andere vormen van seksueel contact.

Daarnaast speelt de seksuele levensstijl van sommige homo’s een rol in de verspreiding van het virus. Voor homomannen is het gemakkelijker om wisselende seksuele contacten te hebben, onder meer in homobars. ‘Wanneer je naar een homosauna gaat, moet je je gedrag aanpassen’, vindt Sergeant. ‘Bij sommige mensen gebeurt dat te weinig. Bij anderen lukt het perfect. Het is een attitude die je moet aanleren.’

Maar homomannen weten ondertussen toch dat zij de risicogroep bij uitstek uitmaken? Waarom vrijen ze dan niet gewoon consequent met een condoom? ‘Ze doen dat net meer dan andere groepen’, reageert Sergeant. ‘Zestig procent van de homomannen geeft aan dat ze de voorbije zes maanden geen onveilige contacten hadden met occasionele partners. Van de overige veertig procent had de meerderheid maar één of twee keer onveilige seks. Homo’s die frequent onveilig vrijen, maken een absolute minderheid uit.’

Maar één keer kan natuurlijk al genoeg zijn. ‘Als je vraagt aan homomannen of ze altijd veilig vrijen, zullen ze “ja” antwoorden. Maar ook wie de bedoeling heeft om altijd veilig te vrijen, maakt al eens een fout. We zijn allemaal maar mensen. Uiteindelijk voelt seks zonder condoom voor zowel hetero- als homoseksuelen het meest natuurlijk aan. Wanneer je onder invloed bent of wordt meegesleurd in het feestgedruis of door gevoelens van verliefdheid, gebeurt het dat je vergeet een condoom om te doen.’ Een moment van nonchalance kan dus levenslange gevolgen hebben. En de verantwoordelijkheid daarvoor wordt soms te veel gelegd bij hiv-positieve mannen, vindt Sergeant. Voor onveilige seks ben je altijd met twee.

Volgens Sergeant valt het probleem ook niet zomaar terug te brengen op ‘losse contacten zonder condoom’. Zo wordt de helft van de nieuwe diagnoses vastgesteld bij mensen die een vaste relatie hebben. Sergeant: ‘Je begint een nieuwe relatie, vertrouwt elkaar steeds meer en op een dag laat je het condoom achterwege. Zonder dat de beide partners zich hebben laten testen op hiv. Vooral bij jongeren is dat een probleem. Jezelf één keer per jaar laten testen zou daarom een vaste gewoonte moeten zijn.’

En je laten testen moet je zeker doen na elk risicovol contact. Want wanneer we naar de hiv-epidemie kijken, valt op dat de helft van de nieuwe infecties wordt veroorzaakt door mensen die zelf net geïnfecteerd zijn. Sergeant: ‘We weten nu dat de epidemie in grote lijnen wordt aangewakkerd door mannen die zonder het te weten recent het hiv-virus binnen hebben gekregen. Die zijn superbesmettelijk en zolang ze zich niet laten testen, weten ze het zelf niet.’

While the death of Bill Sparkman was a media sensation for pushing anti-conservative sentiments just a couple of months ago, it is receiving little to no coverage currently.  Why?  Because, as investigators have recently speculated, there is a possibility that he died by his own hands.

Well, that just doesn’t make for interesting news at the so-called legitimate news organizations.

The ex-con is one to talk about the most famous mother of five in the country (who has not been convicted btw/).

Het Wetenschappelijk Instituut voor Volksgezondheid telde in 2008 1079 nieuwe hiv-besmettingen. Vooral homomannen met de Belgische nationaliteit lopen een verhoogd risico op infectie.

Persbericht: Nieuwe Hiv-diagnoses bij homomannen blijven stijgen

In 2008 noteerde het Wetenschappelijk Instituut voor Volksgezondheid 1.079 nieuwe diagnoses met hiv in Belgiė. Het aantal nieuwe diagnoses dat in Belgiė wordt vastgesteld, blijft al ongeveer zes jaar rond de duizend schommelen. Van de nieuwe diagnoses in 2008 kennen we niet van iedereen het geslacht, de nationaliteit en de waarschijnlijke overdrachtswijze.

400 van het aantal nieuwe diagnoses wordt vastgesteld bij mensen die geen Belgische nationaliteit hebben, 363 bij Belgen.

Sinds 2000 is er een toename van het aantal nieuwe diagnoses bij Belgen. 88% van de nieuwe diagnoses bij Belgen worden vastgesteld bij mannen. In bijna acht op de tien gevallen werden deze mannen waarschijnlijk besmet via homoseksuele overdracht. Dat is een stijging met 20% ten opzichte van het voorgaande jaar. Deze toename van diagnoses bij homomannen begon in 2000. In 2010 zal Sensoa haar preventie-inspanningen naar homomannen nog verhogen.

Cijfers

Van de 363 nieuwe diagnoses vastgesteld bij Belgen verliepen er 245 via homoseksuele contacten. Ongeveer een derde van de nieuwe diagnoses bij Belgen gebeurde via heteroseksuele overdracht. In 2007 was er al een toename van het aantal nieuwe diagnoses bij homomannen, een stijging die in 2008 wordt verder gezet.

Bij de 400 diagnoses bij niet-Belgen merken we bij mannen ook een toename van diagnoses veroorzaakt door homoseksuele contacten, een verdubbeling sinds 2000. Daarbij gaat het in de eerste plaats over mannen uit buurlanden, waar eveneens een stijging wordt opgetekend van het aantal nieuwe diagnoses onder homomannen. De stijging in Belgiė past dus binnen een internationaal fenomeen. Toch is het merendeel van de diagnoses bij niet-Belgen, vastgesteld in Belgiė, veroorzaakt door heteroseksuele overdracht. Dit weerspiegelt dan weer de epidemie in Sub-Saharaans Afrika, waar Belgiė nog steeds nauwe banden mee heeft.

Oorzaken

De oorzaken van het hoge aandeel van homomannen zijn zeer divers en complex, en werken op elkaar in. Belangrijkste oorzaak is wellicht dat er meer mannen met hiv binnen een relatief kleine groep voorkomen. Wanneer veel hiv voorkomt in een relatief kleine groep, is het risico om met hiv in contact te komen veel groter.

De doelgroep homomannen heeft meer wisselende contacten dan de heteroseksuele bevolking en hun relaties hebben vaker een meer open karakter. Een kleine minderheid van de doelgroep heeft een zeer grote seksuele activiteit. Het aanbod van plaatsen binnen het homomilieu en op internet waar men relatief makkelijk seksuele contacten kan leggen, is groot. Ook wordt hiv bij anale seks makkelijker overgedragen.

Een andere oorzaak is het toegenomen aantal besmettingen met seksueel overdraagbare aandoeningen (soa) binnen de doelgroep. Iemand met hiv die besmet is met een soa , besmet sneller anderen met hiv. Omgekeerd geldt ook dat iemand met een soa ontvankelijker is voor een besmetting met hiv.

Maar homomannen vormen voor hiv niet alleen de grootste risicogroep, zij leveren ook de grootste preventie-inspanningen. Naar schatting 60 % neemt geen enkel risico met hiv. Dit aandeel blijft min of meer constant, ook na vijfentwintig jaar hiv-bedreiging. 40% heeft het moeilijk om het vrijen veilig te houden. Meestal gaat het daarbij om sporadisch onveilige contacten, slechts een kleine minderheid neemt geen voorzorgen. Maar, in een groep waarin het aantal dragers van hiv op vijf jaar met 50% is toegenomen, leidt ook beperkt risicogedrag tot meer besmettingen.

Respons

Deze cijfers zijn geen verrassing voor Sensoa. Ook in onze buurlanden merkt Sensoa dezelfde trends. De voorbije vier jaar is er dan ook in toenemende mate geļnvesteerd in preventie naar de doelgroep homomannen .
Dat resulteerde in een aantal vernieuwende initiatieven zoals de website www.mannenseks.be.

Gemiddeld vier preventiecampagnes per jaar met heldere, confronterende preventieboodschappen sensibiliseren homomannen in de homohoreca en op internet. Bijvoorbeeld over het feit dat 1 op 20 homomannen besmet is met hiv. Vrijwel alle Vlaamse homozaken, waar homomannen seks kunnen hebben, profileren zich als een Safe Sex Zone: condooms en glijmiddel zijn er gratis of makkelijk verkrijgbaar en preventiemateriaal van Sensoa is er duidelijk aanwezig en wordt goed gedistribueerd.

Ook met holebi-organisaties als Ēavaria en Wel Jong Niet Hetero en met het Instituut voor Tropische Gezondheid werkt Sensoa nauw samen om de aandacht voor de hiv-problematiek binnen het homomilieu te garanderen.

In 2010 zal Sensoa extra inzetten op sensibiliserende en informerende acties op het terrein om zo de zichtbaarheid van hiv in de homogemeenschap nog te verhogen. Een jaar lang zal alle preventiewerk in het teken staan van ‘Talk Positive’, de grootste Vlaamse campagne ooit naar homomannen. De campagne wil aanzetten tot betere afspraken tussen partners, homomannen die zich sneller op hiv en soa laten testen en last but not least: consequent condooms gebruiken.

Om het aantal nieuwe infecties te doen dalen, is echter meer nodig dan informeren en sensibiliseren. Er is extra wetenschappelijk onderzoek nodig om een scherp profiel af te bakenen van de groepen die het hoogste risicogedrag vertonen. Daarnaast dringt Sensoa er bij de federale overheid op aan om werk te maken van een gecoördineerd aidsbeleid in Belgiė, iets wat tot op heden ontbreekt. Dit moet onder meer zorgen voor extra stimulansen om het zorg- en preventieaanbod beter op elkaar af te stemmen. Sensoa  is ook vragende partij voor meer gespecialiseerde testcentra en meer counseling voor (seropositieve) homomannen.

One of the great “B” stories of the 2008 Presidential campaign was the dog fight between Former Massachussets Governor Mitt Romney and Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. Both candidates had their own place in the race: Romney had a good fiscal and economic record, but his “Road to Des Moines” conversion on abortion issues and former peddling to LGBT interests was too much for many social conservatives to handle. Meanwhile, Huckabee has a poor record on fiscal issues, having supported a number of tax increases as Governor, but the former Baptist minister simply could not be questioned on values issues. The end result? An extended fight between the two for conservative voters in which Huckabee eventually prevailed but was left too wounded to make a serious challenge to McCain in the final primaries (in retrospect, Virginia was the Huckster’s last stand).

Now, both are back in the running for the nomination in 2012. Romney is already generating buzz amongst establishment types, and he continues to maintain a high media profile. However, right now it would appear that his reputation amongst Republicans is declining. From Hot Air comes a PPP poll showing Mitt below 50%. Their take:

He’s at 48 percent this month after having hit 63 percent in June, before the fade began. Even PPP doesn’t have any explanation for it. I’ll give you two possibilities. One: Huck and Palin are in the public eye these days much more than Mitt is, even if it is for the wrong reasons. Romney had better be careful that he doesn’t become an afterthought and end up being seen as a “minor candidate.” Two: With Huck and Palin natural rivals for the religious conservative vote, the perception may be building that Romney’s the RINO in the race by default. He’s always had that rep to some extent, of course, but being the odd man out among the big three only cements it.

As I’ve said many, many times here, it’s very early. Romney still has a chance in this thing. I see his roadmap to victory being becoming a solid voice on conservative issues in the media and then surviving the aformentioned Palin/Huck fight. His big place to shine? Venues like CPAC, and by cozying up to Fox News as their “legit” commentator over Huck’s more showbiz orientation.

However, the big problem with that strategy is that right now it would appear that it is the moment for the confrontational conservative. Huck is drawing big ratings, and Sarah is dominating pretty much every media outlet from the blogs to Fox News, from People to Newsweek (they say that no publicity is bad publicity). The Chicago Tribune has a great article up about Huck and Sarah’s tours and the draws they’re bringing in.

“Team Huck” rolls into the bookstore like a NASCAR pit crew, red uniform shirts adorned with the corporate logos of Mike Huckabee’s website, his speaker’s bureau, his publisher, and “Huck” emblazoned on their epaulets.

They strip the protective wrappings off a large, heavy object — a podium they install at all such appearances. Mike Huckabee doesn’t sit at tables. He stands, as a president would, even to sign books.

And sign he does. And sign and sign and sign. As many as 600 copies of “A Simple Christmas” an hour with sales to match, and no time lost to opening remarks.

The contrast between Huck and Palin (subtle but important) would indicate that their fight is where the action is. However, as I said, Romney’s slow but steady effort has merit–if he can stick to it. As Palin and Huckabee have found, celebrity can be intoxicating.

Usually, I don’t consciously pay for content. I say ‘consciously’ because if I click on a link and there’s a paywall, I won’t do it. I also don’t subscribe to any newspapers or magazines (online or in ‘dead tree’ format). Basically, the quality of the content I’m seeing doesn’t make me want to pay for more of it.

Mr Murdoch does have the right idea. Getting people to pay for content is definitely a way forward. But News Corp. is missing the biggest opportunity they have. It’s a global organization, and while about 1% of their content producers are the best in the world, they are still.. the best. Why doesn’t News identify that globally based 1%, and put it in a paid-for format? At a really, really high price?

If Mr Murdoch thinks that I, or anyone else, will pay for the other 99% of his writers who are complete crap, then he’s mistaken. I’d rather read the far more professional blogs, with the diversity of opinions and transparency News cannot offer.

After freelancing, creating content for a few different publishers it also appears that organizations don’t like to pay their contributors. Waiting six months for a payment on any work done is not a viable business model. I don’t know why some people think it’s all hunky dory. And it’s been this way for many years.

So I don’t pay for content, and I’m wary of accepting any freelance job at all these days. Because I simply don’t like waiting to be paid when my time is better spent on more pressing things.

But my kids? That’s another thing entirely. I currently pay for three social network memberships. And while I’m a member of about 15 social networks, none of these payments are for me. They’re for my kids. My kids totally expect to pay to get access to information, community and technology. They’re growing up with a pay-for-it frame of mind. At the moment it’s a mum-pay-for-it model, and I’m fine with that because the quality of content accessed by my kids on networks like Club Penguin is really worth $5.95 a month. It’s a vibrant community, with great quality stuff. If organizations continue to treat them this way, by the time they’re my age they’ll be paying for content, and believing they should.

But a key part will be getting rid of the 99% of crap for adults and creating something worth subscribing to. We need a Club Penguin for grown ups.

Kristinn Taylor is standing in line at the Barnes & Noble Bookseller store in Orlando along with some 1,000 others who are hoping to get a wristband. Why?
Because Sarah Palin is coming to town.

Kristinn, Free Republic media spokesman, says he arrived at the site at 7:45 a.m. to find that there were already 600 people snaked around the front, side and back of the building.  Also across a street between two buildings and back up the block, around the front of another set of stores, down that street, and in front of the local …  well, you get the idea.  It’s a line that snakes a total of seven blocks long.
“After they opened the doors at 9 a.m. we finally turned the corner to the front of the building, and have half a block to go,” Kristinn said.

“The people in line are roughly 50-50 male-female. Chris Matthews will be disappointed to learn that there are minorities in line also waiting to meet Sarah Palin.  The crowd is in a good mood and of course, we’re not leaving piles of trash, and in all other ways are well mannered.  And as usual with a gathering of conservatives, law enforcement presence is at a minimum. The women in line for this book signing are much more attractive than the women I saw at the Hillary Clinton booksigning some years ago that the Freepers protested at.”
Mercifully the late autumn Florida weather is cooperating.
“It’s in the 70’s and cloudy with a light breeze, so we’re not getting baked,” said the fair haired, fair skinned Freeper.
Earlier this morning Kristinn says “There was a real good Sarah Palin impersonator here .  A dead ringer.”
He says they’ve not been told by book store personnel how many wrist bracelets will be distributed.
“The assistant manager said that yesterday Palin’s tour staff authorized the Orlando store to issue “stand-by” bracelets which means that after those with the  lettered bracelets are done, if Palin is up to it she’ll start signing books for those in the stand-by line. But no guarantees. Yesterday, according to a Ft. Bragg Public Affairs Officer, Palin took care of 4,000 people. Another 500 disappointed fans were turned away.
“They were told that Palin has gotten into a good rythym and been able to pick up her pace signing books.  The bookstore manager said that in a meeting last week about the stop, stand by bracelets weren’t even an option.”
Earlier today at a Jacksonville book signing, Kristinn says it was reported that 500 bracelets were issued for that book signing.
Palin’s next stop today is at The Villages (site of Glenn Beck’s visit last Saturday), and then it will be on to Orlando with an estimated time of arrival at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Vorig jaar hoorden 1079 inwoners van België dat ze seropositief zijn. Dat meldt het Wetenschappelijk Instituut voor Volksgezondheid. Bij de Belgen raken vooral homomannen besmet met HIV. In 2007 werden er 1057 nieuwe gevallen geteld.

BRUSSEL – Het aantal hiv-diagnoses bij homomannen blijft stijgen. In 2007 deed zich een stagnatie voor, maar de cijfers voor 2008 zijn minder hoopvol.

Vorig jaar kregen 1.079 mensen in ons land te horen dat ze besmet waren met hiv, het virus dat tot de ziekte aids kan leiden. Dat zijn drie nieuwe diagnoses per dag. Zo blijkt uit cijfers van het Wetenschappelijk Instituut voor Volksgezondheid, die vandaag verspreid worden.

Onrustwekkend is dat het aantal nieuwe diagnoses bij homomannen weer in stijgende lijn zit. ‘Dat is zo sinds 2001. Jaarlijks stijgt het aantal diagnoses in deze groep met 20 procent. Maar in 2007 zagen we een stagnatie en we hoopten dat die zou doorzetten. Dat blijkt nu niet het geval’, zegt Marleen Zoïle van Sensoa.

Van de 1.079 nieuwe diagnoses is maar in 763 gevallen informatie over geslacht, nationaliteit en overdrachtswijze bekend. Hiervan zijn er 363 diagnoses bij Belgen en 400 bij niet-Belgen. En onder de Belgen bevonden zich 245 mannen die besmet raakten door seksueel contact met een andere man. Dat is zeven op de tien.

Bij de niet-Belgen is er nog altijd het meest ‘overdracht’ via heteroseksuele contacten. ‘Maar ook hier is de overdracht tussen mannen in opmars’, aldus Zoïle.

Geregeld duiken horrorverhalen op over homomannen die bewust onveilig vrijen met een besmet persoon. ‘Er is zeker een kern die risico’s neemt’, zegt Marc Sergeant, bij Sensoa verantwoordelijk voor preventie bij homomannen. ‘Maar het gros is zich erg bewust van de noodzaak van veilig vrijen en doet dat ook.’

‘Alleen, hiv komt heel veel voor bij homomannen: we schatten dat 1 op de 20 besmet is. Bij hetero’s is dat maar 1 op de 20.000. Eén keer onveilig vrijen kan dus veel grotere gevolgen hebben als je homo bent.’

Sergeant merkt ook op dat homomannen zich veel vaker laten testen op hiv, en dat de preventie daar de jongste jaren op aangestuurd heeft. Dat kan ook een verklaring vormen voor de stijging.

‘Vroeg testen, en na elk onveilig contact, is erg belangrijk. Want mensen die pas besmet zijn, zijn zelf superbesmettelijk, omdat het aantal T4-cellen in hun bloed dan erg hoog is. We vermoeden dat veel besmettingen gebeuren door mensen die nog niet weten dat ze besmet zijn, en dat willen we vermijden.’

Vrijwel alle homo-horecabedrijven in Vlaanderen hebben het charter ‘Safe Sex Zone’ ondertekend, wat inhoudt dat condooms, glijmiddel en preventiebrochures er makkelijk te vinden zijn.
