For Serena Williams, the low point came in early 2011, when she spent hours laying around her home, overwhelmed by a depressing series of health scares that sent her to the hospital repeatedly and kept her away from tennis for 10 months.

The high point came Saturday on Centre Court at Wimbledon, when Williams dropped down to the grass, hands covering her face. She was all the way back, a Grand Slam champion yet again.

Her serve as good as there is, her grit as good as ever, Williams was dominant at the start and finish, beating Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 to win a fifth championship at the All England Club and 14th major title overall, ending a two-year drought.

”I just remember, I was on the couch and I didn’t leave the whole day, for two days. I was just over it. I was praying, like, `I can’t take any more. I’ve endured enough. Let me be able to get through this,’ ” recalled Williams, a former No. 1 whose ranking slid to 175th after a fourth-round loss at the All England Club last year, her second tournament back.

”Coming here and winning today is amazing,” she said. ”It’s been an unbelievable journey for me.”

Mike Tyson, Spike Lee May Be Teaming Up on Broadway

Mike Tyson’s Broadway debut looks like it might be a Spike Lee project.
TMZ reports that Lee is in final talks to direct the one man show “Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth” on the Great White Way.
“Spike Lee is gonna be involved,” Tyson, 45, told the site. “Oh yeah, it’s awesome.”
Lee, 55, reportedly got the chance to see Tyson’s show — which tells not only the story of his rise and fall as a boxing great but also of his tumultuous youth growing up.

The two have already begun discussing changes for the show’s Broadway debut.

Lee is reportedly working with theater mogul Jimmy Nederlander Jr. to bring the show to a Broadway stage, possibly even by the end of the summer. The show was originally staged at the MGM Grand, where Tyson famously bit off a part of competitor Evander Holyfield’s ear during a fight.

I'll Have Another wins Kentucky Derby

I’ll Have Another didn’t seem to have the goods to win the Kentucky Derby.
Sold as a yearling for a paltry $11,000, ridden by a rookie jockey hardly anyone knew and stuck in an outside post no horse had ever won from — not exactly a blueprint for success at Churchill Downs.
But with the finish line in sight, the chestnut colt overtook highly regarded Bodemeister in the final furlong Saturday to make a name for himself and rider Mario Gutierrez.
I’ll Have Another stormed out of post No. 19 — the first winner from there in 138 runnings of the Derby.

Gold Medalist Murray Rose Dies of Leukemia

Murray Rose, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, passed away Sunday morning in Sydney. He was 73.

Murray broke 15 world records during his career and won three gold medals at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics when he became a national icon.

Two W. Kentucky football players shot...

Two Western Kentucky football players are recovering after being wounded by gunshots outside a bar.
Bowling Green Police spokesman Ronnie Ward said it appears someone shot into a crowd outside the bar and struck the players.
This Violence needs to stop!!!! Hope they make a good recovery.

Southern Sudan to vote on independence from the North.

This is amazing. I studied a great deal about African foreign policy and African politics when in college. If this election goes untainted, and South Sudan gains independence, it could do amazing things for the region. Keep your fingers crossed.

Weburbanist not as quick as family.

While visiting my brother last weekend he actually mentioned seeing this station. So when WebUrbanist had this cool link showing a secret subway station in NYC. Kinda makes you wish that stations still looked like this instead of being dirty and rat infested. What I want to know is, are those rats also carrying bed bugs, because the mice in the city have obviously already signed up to carry the little buggers around.

Sweet station, but your train is still not coming for 20 minutes...wait its not the Metro in DC.
