Norwegian native, pop-indie artist, Annie, began DJing in Bergen, Norway in 1999, when she released the Madonna-sampled, underground smash single, “The Greatest Hit”, which gradually became popular in Norwegian and British nightclubs. Her career took off from that point and she went on to release “Anniemal” in 2004 with the production help/influence of fellow Norwegian band, Röyksopp, and England’s own Richard X. For the most part, however, Annie’s CD has not grown on me. I’m not impressed past the following select original tracks and outstanding remixes. Yet, the songs of hers that I do like, I sincerely love!

Hey… Prontos para curtir o final de semana? Escutar muita música, ir para festas, baladas e dançar muito? Mas nada de hip-hops e funks clichês. Que tal uma balada com bastante game music?

A partir de hoje vocês terão acesso à uma coletânea de músicas dos jogos mais conhecidos onde poderão curtir a noite, fazer uma festinha em casa, chamar a namorada para dançar coladinho e colocar o som no volume mais alto do seu possante enquanto vai para o trabalho ou estudar.

Toda sexta-feira irei postar aqui no blog  músicas bacanudas com nome e de qual jogo é para serem ouvidas ao logo do final de semana. Serão de estilos desde o mais eletrônico até a mais bonitinha para dançar agarradinho e/ou meditar.

Assim seus amigos irão colar em você e perguntar: “Nossa, que música bacana, nunca ouvi? Você tem um estilo musical formidável. Onde você achou?”

Bem, a primeira música é Neon Knights, do grupo canadense MSTRKRFT (se lê masterkraft).

A dupla existe desde 2005 e é formada por Jesse F. Keeler e Alex Puodziukas. Está música para dançar muito e sacudir bem a cabeleira está presente na trilha sonora do jogo Need For Speed Pro Street.

Outra para relaxar é a de Nobuo Uematsu, que toca na galeria dos troféus do jogo Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Nobuo Uematsu é um músico e compositor japonês que faz trilhas sonoras para jogos eletrônicos. Outras composições do artista podem ser encontradas em diversos jogos da  Square-Enix, como Final Fantasy e Chrono Trigger.

Por fim, mais uma japoronga na área. Makiko Noda é responsável pela música Long Dream, presente no game do gênero RPG de ação The World Ends With You, disponível para Nintendo DS.

Como diria a Rebeca, é uma ótima música para aulas de aeróbica dos anos 80, quando usavam aquelas roupinhas bregas de malhar com polaina. Aproveitem a música para malhar domingo e chegar segunda-feira em forma para voltar ao batente.

Although it seems like its been over a year since hearing anything from Steve Aoki, doesn’t mean he hasn’t been busy. Producer, DJ, runs a record company and owns a restaurant, if anyone has a full plate its Steve Aoki. Other than a couple remixes he hasn’t released anything lately, but apparently he has finished a remix of Dr. Drake’s “Forever” which features Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Drake and Eminem. Could this mean that those of us lucky enough to get tickets to this show will get an early listen… who knows…. Even if we don’t, this guy knows how to rock a party. Having remixed everyone from Micheal Jackson (I know who hasn’t) to Lenny Kravitz to Duran Duran to Weezer, he has been around the block. Not to mention his label Dim Mak Records releasing music by MSTRKRFT, The Bloody Beetroots, Klaxons, Scanners, Whitey ,Mystery Jets and Mustard Pimp. This guy is a heavy hitter on the party scene and should not be missed.

Also unless you have been living under a rock you have probably had the pleasure of witnessing My Gay Husband! spinning his records all over this city. I think he says it best on his myspace page when he’s described as “the best house party you have ever been too where the cops don’t come and the booze+smokes don’t run out.” If Steve Aoki wasn’t enough add My Gay Husband! and the Rickshaw Theater and you’ve got a mix even better than the one’s bellow…

In 2004 Needy Girl came out. The funky sound was completly new to me but yet so… so awesomely great. After that Chromeo has always had a special place in my heart.

The group (David Macklovitch and Patrick Gemayel) comes from Montreal, Canada and was formed 2002. Influnced by eighties disco and sententies funk they released the album She’s In Control in 2004. After great reviews and even videos on MTV it took them three years to create their next masterpiece, Fancy Footwork. This album was remixed by big names such as Etienne de Crezy, Laidback Luke and MSTRKRFT. Not to mention the king Philippe Zdar, the man behind the french artist Cassius, who made a great job mixing the album.

So now, 2009, Chromeo releases Night By Night with remixes by Skream and Siriusmo. Funny thing is that the original mix will work great on a dancefloor, Siriusmo remix you can drink a few beers to and Skream’s is a real laid back track for, say, relaxation…

BECAUSE JELLY IS BETTER THAN JAM.  This coming week, Sonic Jelly’s special guest will be Steve Wilkinson (Mission 5, Gravelpit.)  No cover and everyone is welcome and encouraged to sit in.  Get your musician on and kick it with some of the best music-makers in town.  Or, if you’re like me, just go listen and sing along from behind your whiskey drink.  (And this actually starts at 8:30pm, I believe.)

Come by for Woosday Happy Hour from 5-7pm and enjoy some of the best damn food you ever might hope to have.  The gorgeous and inimitable Nico Bella will be presiding over one Crown Room kitchen.  I originally had a lot to say about this but I think Carl puts it best when he says:  “You know how you guys are always COMPLAINING about the Crown Room’s food?  Well put THIS in your mouth-hole and swallow!  NICO BELLA has made a Happy Hour menu of yummy home-cooked treats like pulled-porked sandwiches, mac n’ cheese, creamed corn, mashed potatoes & gravy and more.  It’s SO GOOD…and cheap!

THIS IS AN EXPERIMENT–if we don’t sell enough over the next couple of weeks we’re going back to SHIT FOOD.  Which, last I checked, tasted like SHIT.  For the love of all that is holy and DELICIOUS, get your butts down to the Crown Room tonight between 5 and 9 and come see a healed Carlovox and our tasty new Happy Hour menu! Yes?? Great!!“  So, yeah.  Carlovox will be slingin’ drinks as per usual and if you stick around long enough, Kellan and Avery will sling you some dubstep.  I’ll be sitting somewhere with a computer–I won’t be offended if you decide to come in and buy me a PBR.

Ohmigodohmigodohmigod!  I have been assigned the task of drawing mustaches on anyone who may have missed ‘Stachetober.  Yes, we’re well on our way into Novembeard but that’s honestly neither here nor there.  Anyway, CMNHTN and Nicky Mason will begin the carnage promptly at 9:30 so get there and get ready to be slayed.

• If that’s not your scene, Miriam’s Well is playing at Ash St. Saloon on Thursday night.  If you haven’t met Mir, she’s fucking fantastic.  Creative and dedicated and totally conscious–if they still play “War No More,” you’re in for a real treat.  Show starts at 9pm and I’m gonna guess there’s like a $5 cover but don’t know for sure.

Friday, November 13:

It’s Maria’s birthday and we’re pulling out all the stops.  You won’t even recognize 24ten when we’re through.  And Beats fucking Antique???  What? This lineup is ridiculous.  It’s a party that’ll make you dance and feel good.  Supah dupah gypsy funk yumminess.  And there is a plan afoot to dress me as a belly dancer.  At the very least, you should make every effort to check this out for the comedy value alone.

Sooooooo basement Jaxx / mstrkrft / modeSelector was such a sick ass show.
I went with my bestfriends and danced like no one was looking.
Reconnected with old frineds as well.

I hadn’t heard of modeselector before but they were the best all night. The music had me lossing my mind.
These two guys were from Berlin, introducing me to a whole new sound.

I wasn’t really feeling basement Jaxx………at all.
They kept switching styles/genres way too much. Just when I would start to like something it would be ruined with some random ass song.
But what was really dope about them was the live singer. She was huge and full of talent.
Do your thing
Had EVERYONE on their feet.

To everyones surprise MSTRKRFT went on after basement Jaxx.
It was such a great show.
By the time they got on I was exhausted buy style hyped out of my mind. Everysong mstrkrft played I got more and more geeked out.
