This teapot was designed by Bauhaus student Marianne Brandt in 1924, made from brass, silver and ebony. Brandt would often use industrial metals for her household objects and embrace minimal design with no decorative elements, simple geometric shapes and most importantly emphasising functionality.

Functionality was one of key aims of work produced in the Buahaus and indeed one of the identifying factors of Modern design on a whole. But to be functional does not mean to lack beauty and lack creativity. Functionality is a design parameter that guides and tests creative ability.

Here is another household object designed within the Bauhaus. It is the MT9 lamp designed by Carl Jakob Jucker and Wilhelm Wagenfeld. Again, like Brandt’s teapot the lamp is made with industrial metals. The gleaming, reflective nature of the metals give the lamp and a sleek, futuristic look. The lamp stands tall and proud as an example of sophisticated, minimal design.

En plena era tecnológica, donde todo cambia rápidamente, puede haber nacido una alternativa al conocido formato de audio comprimido. El recién llegao permite al usuario modular las distintas pistas del sonido de una canción.

Desarrollado por una empresa coreana llamada Audizen, se lo llama “formato inteligente”. Incorpora un ecualizador de seis pistas en las que se pueden insertar diferentes instrumentos musicales y sacar así el sonido que mejor convenga en cada momento (voz, coros, piano, guitarra, bajo y batería) y modificar, de forma independiente, el volumen de esas pistas.

Según publica Consumer, y reproduce 20minutos.es, empezó a comercializarse en Corea, por lo que parece que el reinado del archiconocido mp3 está contado.

Incluso, se puede silenciar la voz del cantante para cantar encima a modo de karaoke.

Hasta la fecha, se ha empezado a comercializar un número muy limitado de canciones en este formato a bajo precio a 1,2 euros.º

Llevamos ya muchos años con el formato mp3, concretamente desde 1995, pero ya se ha desarrollado otro formato que parece ser que sera su rival de aqui en adelante. Su nombre es mt9 y ha sido desarrollado por la compañia coreana Adizen.

Este formato permite al usuario cambiar o modular las distintas pistas con distintos instrumentos en cada una de ellas, así se podrá dejar solamente la voz del cantante o silenciarla para escuchar solo la musica y asi poder hacer tu propio karaoke, por esto se le a denominado “formato inteligente”.

O MP3 estaria ameaçado?

A agência Reuters anunciou em Denver, nos Estados Unidos, que o MP3 pode ter os seus dias contados. Pois, segundo especialias, o MT9 pode ser aquele que vai desbancar o formato de áudio mais utilizado no mundo. O Motion Pictures Experts Group, popularmente conhecido por MPEG, vai se reunir na Alemanha para bater o martelo sobre o novo formato de áudio digital, que pode ter ser adotado como novo padrão internacional.

O MT9 foi desenvolvido pela empresa sul-coreana Audizen. Conhecido no mercado como Music 2.0, o formato é um arquivo de áudio em seis canais, como vocais e guitarras.

Com isso, o usuário que ouve o MT9 pode alterar o volume dos canais, como um DJ, fazendo até o isolamento dos canais. O jornal “Korea Times” publicou que os inventores deste formato, pode puxar o tapete do MP3, tornando-se o novo padrão da música digital.

Técnicamente o MP3 pode ser facilmente substituido, porque os comerciantes de arquivos digitais podem atualizar os bancos de dados para o MT9 em alguns meses. Os inventores teriam que convencer as gravadoreas para tal feito.

E para que o novo formavo alavanque as vendas, os fabricantes de players, como a Apple que puxou o mundo para o formato de áudio MP3, com seu iPod, devem fabricar players com o novo formato. Normalmente um player de MP3 dura entre oito a 12 meses e isso pode ser um fator determinante para que o MT9 alavanque no mercado.

Ingenieros de Corea que forman parte del Electronics and Telecommunications Research (ETRI), desarrollaron un nuevo formato de audio denominado MT9 (también conocido como Music 2.0) el cual pretende reemplazar al formato MP3, que se ha mantenido sin cambios importantes desde su aparición en 1995.

El formato MT9 destacará por permitir a los usuarios manejar el volúmen de cada pista, con un total de seis (voz, coros, bajo, guitarra, batería y piano). De esta manera podríamos conseguir versiones a capella o karaoke simplemente bajando el volúmen de las pistas que deseemos.

Sin duda una excelente alternativa de audio digital que promete desterrar al MP3, que por el momento se mantiene intachable y preferido en la guerra de los formatos de música.

En interview, Busy P, a informé qu’il renonçait à s’occuper de la carrière des Daft Punk comme avant, pour se consacrer pleinement à son label mais il reste “impatient d’entendre leur nouveau matériel». Busy P précise que les pionniers de la French Touch “sont lents et prennent leur temps, et ils ont le droit». Il ne reste plus qu’a attendre sagement pour certainement écouter leur album en MT9.

Un grupo de ingenieros coreanos del ETRI, ha creado un nuevo formato de audio, se hace llamar MT9. Permite ecualizar cada instrumento de una canción por separado. Aumentando así su calidad de sonido digital y de edición. Se está considerando hacer del MT9 un formato soportable por cualquier dispositivo.

Hasta el momento, se sabe que las empresas LG y Samsung se han comprometido a dar soporte en sus teléfonos móviles y reproductores para el nuevo formato. Los primeros modelos podrían aparecer a principios del 2009.

Un nuevo formato musical llamado MT9 parece apuntar a convertirse en el futuro sucesor del MP3 como formato estándar de música.

Desarrolladores de Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) han creado un nuevo formato digital de música que permitirá a los usuarios controlar el volumen de cada instrumento por separado.De esta manera podremos regular sus seis pistas indenpendientemente aumentando la batería, el bajo, el piano potenciando las guitarras o aislando la voz del cantante o los coros.

Este nuevo formato llamado MT9 o Music 2.0 será comercializado por la empresa Audizen y se espera que despierte un interés tan grande entre los usuarios que lo convierta en un éxito comercial capaz de desbancar al actual MP3.

Actualmente ya se está comercializando en Korea país de donde procede el formato y se espera sea elegido como estandar internacional en el Forum MPEG que se celebrara el próximo junio en Alemania.

Korean computer engineers are introducing a new digital music format that has a six-channel audio equalizer and separate controls on the sound volume for each musical instrument, such as guitar, drum, base and voice. The new format, which has a file extension format of MT9 and a commercial title of “Music 2.0″, is poised to replace the popular MP3 file format as the de-facto standard of the digital music source, its inventors say. The MT9 technology was selected as a candidate item for the new digital music standard at the last regular meeting of Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG), the international body of the digital music and video industry.

Ham says that the music industry should change its attitude to the market as music is becoming a digital service, rather than a physical product. Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are both interested in equipping their mobile phones with an MT9 player and their first commercial products are likely to debut early next year, he said. Unlike other digital formats exclusively used by big companies, Audizen (the venture company behind the development) allows users to copy the MT9 files, making it a more attractive format. “It’s like having a CD or cassette tape. Once you buy it, you can lend it to your friends. We don’t want to be too fussy about DRM (digital right management),” said Ham Seung-chul, chief of Audizen.

On est toujours à se plaindre de la multitude des formats audio, vidéo, image et toutes les comptabilités sur les différents supports. Heureusement vient de débarquer une équipe coréenne qui nous a concocté une révolution pour la consommation musicale, le MT9. Un nouveau format qui permettrait d’écouter son morceau en 6 canaux à différents niveaux. Donc si vous trouvez que le batteur de votre chanson est mauvais, il suffit juste de baisser le volume de l’instrument. Une révolution qui permettrait à certain morceaux de prendre de la valeur.

Selon Clubic, les premiers produits seront disponibles pour la rentrée prochaine. En espérant que ce nouveau format s’imposera sur l’hyper-marché des formats audio.

The new .MT9 music format tipped to be the next big thing in music reproduction offers unprecedented user control of the music they listen to, but what effects will this have on music tracks in the future?

The new file type, which is demoed on its company website here, allows the listener to adjust the levels of each track within the recording, changing the volume of each instrument or perhaps eventually adding effects or filters.  So you might listen to an a capella version of your favorite Bob Dylan, cut out an annoying drumbeat, or pump up the base and turn Your Beautiful into a crazy techno dance beat.

On the plus side, music students wishing to learn a part from an orchestral score, say, or a guitar solo, can turn down the other parts and pick out the one they want to hear. Tracks can come with ‘alternative’ drum patterns, orchestrations or backing vocals that the user can turn up the one they like better.  The MT9 will surely increase file sizes astronomically – the whole purpose of MP3s being to have high quality yet small bandwidth music – but this is a small prise to pay when you want to sell bigger and better iPods.

The new technology means that artists and producers have even less control over the sound their music becomes. The poor sound producer won’t actually know how the listener is hearing the track – imagine Amy Winehouse’s dismay when she realises her fans are cutting out the piano part of Back to Black!

Music 2.0 means that each track has to be flawless in case someone listens to it in detail, and it means producers don’t have to be selective about what they put on the track – if it’s boring, the listener can turn it off.  The danger of taking decisions away from a composer/artist is surely evident: the more control the listener has over what they hear, the less decisions the artist is able to make about their ‘art’ and so the less it becomes their own art. But perhaps more importantly, the less decisions an artist has to make, the worse they will become at making them: if you can include as many alternatives as you like, then their quality of each will go down.

Artists might find themselves catering for specific tastes within their tracks at the behest of money-orientated labels. “Let’s add a bass and saxophone to appeal to the jazz market!”; “Let’s add gospel harmony for all those types”; “Let’s add a track with a bass drum and scratchy record noises to turn it into a dance tune.” Can you imagine the chaos when three different sets of fans turn up at the gig to hear their favorite standard/hymn/techno beat and are subjected to the song’s original Europop feel?

Sometimes we need to hear music that is not to our immediate liking. By giving people to option to ‘customise’ their music, we take a step forward in music technology, but potentially set us back years in terms of music as an art rather than a commodity.

He estado leyendo en varios blogs una noticia muy interesante, y es que este artículo en el Korea Times, “New MP3 Revolutionizes Way You Listen to Music“, habla del formato MT9, calificado como de Music 2.0, y que se caracteriza por ofrecer un ecualizador de seis pistas en las que se ubican los diferentes instrumentos (voz, coro, piano, guitarra, bajo y percusión) que el usuario puede modular de manera independiente, lo que lo hace válido para concentrarse en un canal determinado – escuchar la voza capella, la batería, etc. – o para eliminar, por ejemplo, la voz y convertirlo así en un karaoke.

El formato ha sido desarrollado en el Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) coreano, y llevado al mercado por la compañía Audizen, que ofrece un catálogo limitado de álbumes por precios que van entre los dos mil y los tres mil won (entre 1.2 y 1.8 euros), libres de DRM, con el fin de contribuir así a la difusión del formato. 

El formato será sometido a votación de cara a su posible aprobación como estándar en la próxima reunión del MPEG Industry Forum en Alemania.
