Anders Behring Breivik, the 32-year-old man behind the Norwegian massacre that left at least 92 people dead on Friday, claimed Malta was among the countries “he had the privilege to experience”.

Included in his list of 24 countries, mainly northern European states, are a few “exotic” destinations such as Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Liberia, China, Mexico, Cyprus and Malta.

It is unclear, however, whether Mr Breivik, described as a far right, Christian fundamentalist, visited Malta as part of his fascination with the knights.

In a 12-minute YouTube video, “Knights Templar 2083”, which was posted along with a 1,500-page manifesto six hours before the massacre, Mr Breivik recycles the iconography of the crusades into a vision of the future that sees Christians having to fight Muslims once again.

He now faces charges related to the killing of at least 85 young people attending a summer camp organised by the ruling Labour party on Utoeya island and the simultaneous bombing of the government quarter in downtown Oslo which left another seven people dead.

The YouTube video is a rant on the rise of cultural Marxism and Islamic colonisation.

The video includes quotes by Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and the Norwegian based “Jihadi ideologue” Mullah Krekar, while another shot depicts a bloody profile of a fair-haired girl, captioned: “Has your daughter, sister or girlfriend experienced cultural enrichment by the local Muslim community yet?”

In section three, Hope, a clip reads “Onward, Christian Soldiers! Because in only 14 years, by 2025, a majority of our Western European capitals will be Muslim cities, just as Marseille became majority Muslim in 2010! And in only 39 years, by 2050, this will be the fate of our countries as well! Unless we manage to defeat the ruling Multiculturalist Alliance!”

The video ends with images of knights during battle and a photo of Mr Behring Breivik himself in military uniform decorated with badges of merit including one that looks like a Maltese cross.

On the local far right site vivamalta.org, the Norwegian massacre attracted a lot of criticism.

The group’s leader, Norman Lowell, dismissed the gunman as a “poor patsy Jew lover. He is Zionistically, fanatically anti-Muslim”. He said the whole manifesto was “nauseatingly pro-Israel”.

Asked whether Mr Behring Breivik had made contact with him while in Malta, Imperium Europa’s founder said he had not.

The rest of the group seemed to toe Mr Lowell’s line, describing the man as “a pawn in a game bigger than he can ever imagine,” while others criticised the media for portraying the killer as a Neo-Nazi or a National Socialist.

Meanwhile, the Nationalist Party disassociated itself from a claim within the manifesto which included a list of European organisations and political parties which the author said were anti-immigration or far right.

The list includes Malta’s Nationalist Party, Imperium Europa, Viva Malta and Azzjoni Nazzjonali.

In a statement, the PN said its “position on immigration is clear — people’s life and dignity supersedes any other interest. The PN celebrates diversity in customs, cultures and skin colour and does not punish them.

“The Nationalist government implemented and will continue to implement this in practice especially when faced with situations of human tragedies, of people fleeing terror, wars and famine.”

“The dual attack in Norway was straight out of the playbook of the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington”. On Friday night, that was the commonplace assessment of what happened in the capital of one of the most developed and prosperous countries in the world…

The actions of the gunman who fired upon a youth camp on Utøya Island, who’s also a suspect in the bombings in the heart of Oslo, are more akin to the acts of a madman, not those of a member of any international terrorist group. That’s the considered opinion of the Norwegian police. The 32-year-old Norwegian detained by the police “doesn’t have links to any of the international terrorist organisations”, according to Norwegian police sources in Norway. The source went on to say, “Apparently, what happened isn’t related to Islamic extremism. It looks like the actions of a madman”. They added that the investigation’s still underway, and it’s much too early for an official statement. At the same time, local television channel TV2, without revealing its sources, reported on the detainee’s possible connection with right-wing extremism.

After the explosion in Oslo, some media outlets reported that Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi threatened to respond to the blows inflicted by NATO upon his supporters. As of 10 June 10, the Norwegian Air Force flew approximately 10 percent of the NATO air strikes in Libya. In addition, Norway is part of the coalition forces operating in Afghanistan opposed to the Taliban and al-Qaeda. In a rejoinder to this action, the militants of the international terrorist network al-Qaeda made threats against Norway. Last week, the Norwegian Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against Mullah Krekar, who lives in Norway, who’s the founder of the Kurdish Islamist group Ansar al-Islam, which many suspect has links with al-Qaeda. Krekar threatened the local media and Norwegian politicians, saying they’d be killed if he were deported from Scandinavia. In response to these threats, last week, police arrested two men. In the media, information also surfaced that a book with the “scandalous” cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed will soon appear in Norway. At the time of their publication in Denmark, their release led to protests by Muslims around the world. Finally, after the explosion, several media outlets recalled that, in early July, Norwegian police announced that they opened a court case concerning a terrorist conspiracy by Islamic fundamentalists who planned an explosion at an oil platform in the North Sea.

However, according to the Associated Press, the Norwegian police didn’t link the explosion in Oslo and the shooting of the young campers to Islamic extremism. According to a police source, who requested anonymity, the Norwegian suspect arrested after the shooting in the camp had acted alone, “he’s probably not linked with any international terrorist organisation”. The source noted that the investigation is continuing, and that the information could change. Meanwhile, immediately after the attack, global agencies referred to tapes publicised on the notorious site Wikileaks. If you believe these reports, American intelligence officials and diplomats repeatedly warned Norway of the need to enhance security against terrorist attacks. Apparently, Oslo didn’t properly listen to the signals from Washington.

The reporter said: “Dead people were scattered on the street, the people we meet there were too stre

The reporter said:

“Dead people were scattered on the street, the people we meet there were too stressed to talk about it but no one is confirmed dead.”

How can that be? There were dead people in the street, but no one is reported dead? Some time Norwegian reporters just fail to deliver the news. At this point there are reported and confirmed dead people, but we are still unsure how many.

And there ends the fun. This is about the explosion in Oslo (Norway), of course. I live in Norway so I can say that I hear about this none stop. Whatever radio channel I try to listen to I hear about the explosion and the shooting on Utøya (Utoeya), the police confirms now that these two events most likely are connected. As for now it is confirmed that it was an terror* attack. but there is still a few theories about who’s behind it all.

– BBC and CNN were both quick to claim that this terror attack is because of Mullah Krekar (Najumuddin Faraj Ahmad),founder of the Kurdish Islamist group Ansar al-Islam, but there are no clear connections between the bombing, the shooting and Krekar. According to Krekar’s lawyer he and his family is just as shocked and surprised by what happened as everyone else. Right now there are no reason to think that Mullah Krekar has anything to do with what happened today. The reason for these speculations is because the attack comes days after Norwegian prosecutors filed a terrorism charge against Mullah Krekar, who is accused of threatening a former minister, Erna Solberg, with death.

– Ansar al-Jihad al-Alami (the Helpers of the Global Jihad) claim responsibility, Will McCants, a terrorism analyst at CNA, a research institute that studies terrorism – but not clear whether it’s genuine. And it is a response to Norwegian forces’ presence in Afghanistan and to unspecified insults to the Prophet Muhammad.
“We have warned since the Stockholm raid of more operations,” the group said, According to Mr. McCants translation. They refer to the bombing in Stockholm 2010. “What you see is only the beginning, and there is more to come.”

It is essential to mention that the shooter at Utøya got looks very Scandinavian. There are rumored about 20 – 30 dead people from the shooting, and it’s now confirmed 7 dead and 2 gravely injured from the bombing.

The target of the bombing was The government building where the prime minister house his office. However, the prime minister is safe and out of danger, the government members are safe and the street wasn’t as trafficked as it use to be. The bomb (which is most referred to as a bomb attached to a car) did a lot of damage and the whole square is covered with glass.

The police has evacuated parts of Oslo and the road that leads to Utøya, they warn people to get out of the city.

As Norwegians come to grips with a huge explosion in Oslo city centre, many people around the world

As Norwegians come to grips with a huge explosion in Oslo city centre, many people around the world are asking why Norway would be targeted by terrorists.

Many are turning to the story of Mullah Krekar, a radical Iraqi-born cleric who has in the past allegedly threatened that Norwegian politicians could be killed. Krekar was deemed a national security threat back in 2005, and has remained a thorn in the side of Norway ever since.

Despite its reputation for peacefulness, Norway has in recent years experienced rumblings of trouble with radical Islam. Perhaps no more than in many other European countries, but still significant.

There is also the fact that Norwegian troops have been active in peacekeeping missions around the world, including Afghanistan. That involvement has undoubtedly drawn the attention of radicals who might see Norway as an easier target than the UK or America.

It’s also important to remember that Norway is an oil-rich nation. Although they get their oil from the North Sea, their mere involvement in the industry at all might, at a push, be taken by some as cause for anger.

There are, of course, many other reasons why Norway’s politicians would be targeted in this way. Homegrown terrorists completely unlinked to radical Islam could be responsible. And it’s not certain, as yet, that this was a terrorist attack. Nevertheless, that is the strong suspicion. It might take many days before the truth is revealed.

Ahh, they’ve done it again. Norway’s favorite worldwide-wanted terrorist, “Mullah

Ahh, they’ve done it again. Norway’s favorite worldwide-wanted terrorist, “Mullah Krekar”, who has long ago been declared a danger for the state, has just spent the last 11 days – paid for by the state, naturally – in a hotel. And not just any hotel, but one of Oslo’s most luxurious ones. Not couting the expenses for providing protection for him, this little episode cost 80.000kroner, about $13.500 USD or about €10.000.

Meanwhile, Norway will soon open Europe’s most modern prison, featuring flat screen TVs. It cost 1.3 billion kroner, that is 1 300 000 000 or kroner, or $220 million and will hold 251 prisoners. So, each prisoner’s place costs well over 5 million kroner, which is the price of 3 family homes. So, why work and give half your money to the state, if you can go around stealing. On the slim chance that you get caught, you will be housed in lovely surroundings, and get paid every single day!

Meanwhile, hundreds of muslim taxi drivers parked their cars in protest over the publication of a drawing in a newspaper. Not only do they not understand the basics of democracy and freedom of speech, nor that you have to separate private griefs from work. But these exact same people have for many years cheated the state out of tax money. Yet when caught, they were not prosecuted, despite their swindel amounting to more than 100.000.000 kroner.

“A 16-year-old girl who was raped in Bangladesh has been given 101 lashes for conceiving during the assault.”

Yes, Islam is the religion of peace… In Norway rape victims are fortunately treated better, but recently there was a case where a victim lost her state benefit.

Fortunately, not everything is wrong in Norway. Just have a look at this Google Maps Street View.

FrP vil gjerne kaste ut hårballen her

At least two of the 23 CIA agents who were earlier this week convicted of having abducted a Muslim cleric in Italy in 2003 and sending him to Egypt, have reportedly also been in Oslo.

Their mission in Oslo is said to have been the charting of the movements of Mullah Krekar in preparation for an abduction of the alleged former guerilla movement leader.

The two CIA agents were earlier this week sentenced in their absence to five years in jail for their part in the Milan abduction.

The two agents turned up in Oslo only two months after the Milan affair, Stavanger Aftenblad reports.

Mullah Krekar was at the time suspected by US authorities to be a terrorist and named leader of the terrorist organization Ansar al-Islam.

The Norwegian Department of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the report, the newspaper writes.

Foreign Correspondent’s Mark Corcoran has asked why the AFP will investigate the murder of the Balibo Five 34 years ago but not the murder of cameraman Paul Moran.

I’ve learned to dread late night phone calls – and this one was the worst. It was March 2003, during the opening phase of the Iraq war. Just after midnight I took the call from an anguished Michael Ware – an Australian journalist and close colleague of mine, then working for Time Magazine.

Coming down the satellite phone line was a mix of static, screaming and sirens. Amid the cacophony, Michael managed to spell out that he was at a roadblock in Kurdish northern Iraq that had just been hit by a suicide bomber in a taxi. He was on the scene giving assistance to ABC journalist Eric Campbell, dazed and bloodied after being hit by shrapnel, but alive. However there was the body of another westerner among the victims – possibly an Australian – who was he?

The tragic details soon became clear. He was 39-year-old Paul Moran, a freelance cameraman originally from Adelaide. He had teamed up with Eric Campbell on the Iraq assignment for ABC News. Paul left behind a young widow Ivana and a seven-week-old daughter Tara.

The suicide attack had been carried out by a Saudi Arabian member of Ansar al Islam, an extremist group fighting for the creation of a radical Islamic state in the northern Kurdish region of Iraq. The bomber died but his commander is alive and well and living in Norway, his home in exile since being granted asylum in the early 90s.

His name is Najmaddin Faraj Ahmad but he is better known as Mullah Krekar, founder of Ansar al Islam, which is listed as an Al Qaeda-affiliated terrorist organisation by several countries and the United Nations. Krekar commuted regularly from his Oslo flat back to Iraq as he created the terrorist group Ansar. He also raised a special Ansar unit of suicide bombers, and in an interview for our 2007 report Norwegian Jihad he boasted how he had refined this dark art for his recruits who would be sent on a oneway ticket to martyrdom.

“There’s no different between suicide bombs and using Kalashnikov,” he told me.

“What’s the difference when you send the fighters to death, what’s the difference between someone who uses only on/off or someone who use his finger, what’s the difference? It’s the same.”

One week after the suicide attack on the ABC team in 2003, the Australian Government formally listed Ansar al Islam as a terrorist group, stating that Ansar had almost certainly been responsible for Moran’s murder.

Krekar was named as an Ansar leader. In 2005, the Australian Attorney-General’s Department declared that Krekar was now disassociated from the group – also known as Ansar al Sunna – but gave no evidence as to how that conclusion had been reached. Krekar’s name was struck off the list without any formal Australian Government investigation of Moran’s death. No one in Norwegian police, judicial or intelligence circles involved in the Krekar case could recall being approached by the Australian Government formally or otherwise. Australian authorities certainly did not speak to Krekar himself.

In 2007, when I met Krekar in his flat in Oslo, he taunted the Australian Government to come and get him.

“[The suicide bomber] came from an organisation that you created, that you trained, that you helped organise. Do you feel that you take any responsibility for this?” I asked him.

“If there was something against me, Norwegian people or Australian people, John Howard can send some people or some papers, some letters to court in Norway,” he replied.

“He can say that yes, Mullah Krekar, you can ask him about this also. But when they didn’t, no one asked me about this, it mean that I haven’t any contact with this.”

When I asked him what he would say to Moran’s widow and to his other family members, he replied that he would say “to all of the Western women, don’t send your sons to kill us”.

“He wasn’t killing anybody, he was a cameraman,” I pointed out.

“Yes he was, he was also with our enemy,” Krekar replied.

Krekar claimed he had relinquished command of Ansar in 2002, 10 months before Moran’s murder. The critical question is – did Krekar still have control of Ansar al Islam at the time of Moran’s death?

Both the US Government and the United Nations certainly think so. In December 2006, the US Treasury and the United Nations Security Council declared Krekar to be “an Al Qaeda facilitator”. The US Treasury also stated that he was still covertly financing Ansar al Islam through a European network in Germany and Bulgaria. The Treasury also claimed he was active as a recruiter and commanded sniper teams in Iraq.

Krekar would face almost certain execution if sent home to Iraq, but his biggest trump card remains Norway’s long tradition of granting haven to those seeking political asylum. Despite more than 40 court appearances, Krekar has avoided extradition to either Iraq or the United States, due to Norway’s strict policy of refusing to deport individuals to countries that engage in torture or have the death penalty. The Norwegian Government concedes he has exploited the system and is a threat to national security, but says he has committed no serious crime in Norway, nor harmed Norwegians at home or abroad.

Moran’s death is another matter entirely. It is a case the Norwegians have not investigated. If Australian officials wish to question Krekar, they need only ask.

“But Canberra was quick to put the whole matter in the “too hard” basket. Just hours before our report Norwegian Jihad was broadcast in November 2007, Coalition Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said he was not aware of any links between Krekar and the death of Paul Moran.

In response to Krekar’s call to his supporters to attack Australian troops in Iraq. Mr Downer said “Somebody who is wanted, who is a serious terrorist, we would expect him to make extremist and threatening and blood-curdling comments as he has done,”. “But obviously we’re not going to have our foreign policy dictated to by him,” he said.

A change in Government has not brought a change of heart. When asked if Krekar had since been interviewed by Australian authorities over the death of Paul Moran, a spokesman for Labor Federal Attorney General Robert McClelland said yesterday “Consistent with longstanding practice, the Government does not comment on whether or not particular individuals are of security.

In June 2009, Krekar’s name re-emerged in connection with Ansar al Islam, when the Australian Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security tabled its report on the re-listing of Ansar al Islam as a terrorist organisation.

Part of our story was paraphrased in ASIO’s submission to the committee: “Australians are considered a legitimate target by Ansar al Islam, which was responsible for a suicide car bombing in March 2003 that killed ABC journalist Paul Moran and five Kurdish soldiers. The group’s founder and original leader, Mular Krekar, reiterated these sentiments recently, claiming in November 2007 that not only was Moran’s death justified but also that it was legitimate for Ansar al Islam ‘to kill Australian soldiers in Iraq … to kill his translator, to kill the people which [sic] give him food and water’.” But there was no mention of the detailed allegations made by both the United Nations Security Council and the US Treasury Department that Krekar was still very much part of the Ansar leadership at the time of Moran’s death.

If the Australian Federal Police is now prepared to investigate the murder of a group of newsmen in an incident that occurred 34 years ago, why not examine the more recent murder of another Australian national, Paul Moran?

Krekar is not hard to find – he has become a minor celebrity in Norway. If the AFP or ASIO have trouble locating him they need only consult the United Nations Security Council’s list of Al Qaeda-associated groups and individuals. His Oslo address is there, online, for all to see.

Mark Corcoran has been a reporter/producer/presenter with the ABC’s Foreign Correspondent program for 13 years. He has a special interest in security and terrorism issues in South Asia and the Middle East. Since 2001, Corcoran has reported extensively on various aspects of Washington’s “War on Terror” from locations as diverse as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Somalia, France, Norway, the United States and Greece.

Helt fritt, i “husarrest”?

The complaint was filed jointly by Canadian Islamic Congress president Mohamed Elmasry of Ottawa and Abbotsford cardiologist Dr. Naiyer Habib, a British Columbia director of the congress.

At issue is an October 23, 2006, article that suggested Muslim demographics will soon enable them to overrun countries in Europe and North America. “The article is flagrantly anti-Muslim,” said the complainants, who also claim it implicitly and explicitly states that Muslims are part of a global conspiracy to take over Western societies and that Muslims should be viewed “through this lens as the enemy.” Elmasry and Habib said the “inflammatory” article violates the religious rights of Muslims living in British Columbia.

The article, titled “The Future Belongs to Islam,” was an excerpt of Mark Steyn’s book, America Alone. It warned that the Muslim world has youth and global ambitions to supplant Western society. The group is seeking monetary compensation, claiming that Maclean’s rebuffed them when they attempted to assert their right to reply to the article.

In a nutshell, Mark Steyn writes a book. In it, he quotes Norwegian imam Mullah Krekar as saying that Muslims “breed like mosquitoes.” Steyn shows that demographically, there will be more Muslims in Europe than any other faith, and that this will change the political and cultural landscape of Europe. Maclean’s decides to run the “mosquito” section of the book. Naiyer Habib and Mohamed Elmasry find the excerpt offensive. Even though it was the European imam who referred to Muslims “breeding like mosquitoes,” they charge that Steyn is Islamophobic.

Time moves on with the scripting for the Steyn Wars trilogy, and no one hears from Naiyer Habib or Mohamed Elmasry, because a bunch of law students get on board and “represent” them. What they want is this: a Maclean’s cover story written by a writer of their choosing, which Maclean’s must publish but can’t edit. They want their own artwork to go with it, and it needs to be around 5000 words.

Why would a magazine agree to do that? Maclean’s didn’t.
