<p>Quem nunca se pegou numa situação de urgência fecal em que teve que apelar ao uso de banheiros públicos? Impossível não haver um e vocês devem concordar comigo que não há nada mais desagradável e constrangedor que fazer isso fora de casa. Por mais que você entre no banheiro com aquele pensamento de que não irá fazer nada de anormal, que todo mundo faz e geralmente o faz no banheiro, sempre tendemos a entrar de mansinho e só sair do box após se certificar de que não há mais ninguém no recinto que possa olhar para a sua cara após o trabalho realizado. Fora que a higiene desses banheiros normalmente é terrível. Mas, outro dia descobri um local ideal para se refugiar nessas horas de perigo iminente: o banheiro do cinema. Difícil imaginar outro lugar dentro de um shopping center (principalmente Iguatemi) que seja tão agradável e propício para esta situação. É limpo, frequentado por poucas pessoas (quando comparado ao banheiro fora do cinema) e, o melhor de tudo, tem música ambiente. Ah! Agora descobri a verdadeira finalidade daquela música clássica que fica rolando em um volume ligeiramente alto. Ela abafa qualquer som que você venha a fazer nas suas atividades fisiológicas. Man, sei que isso pode parecer nojento, mas acho até que Ramon devia postar algo desse tipo no blog dele, pois essa dica procede pacas! Se você estiver apertado, sem saber pra onde ir, com medo de tentar ir pra casa e acabar numa merda total, não se desespere mais! Multiplex é a solução!!!</p>

<description><![CDATA[Começa amanhã, 22/11, o Fashion Mob, organizada pela Casa de Criadores, com início às 14h30, no Larg]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p style="text-align:center;">Começa amanhã, 22/11, o Fashion Mob, organizada pela Casa de Criadores, com início às 14h30, no Largo do Arouche e términoàs 17h, no Parque da Luz, com o desfile das Gêmeas. Os <em>flash mob</em>, para quem não connhece, são manifestações combinadas por alguma ferramenta social online (sms, emails, twitter, facebook&#8230;), para que as pessoas se encontrem em lugares inesperados, tendo combinado com pouca antecedência. É uma maneira rápida de organizar eventos.</p>
<p style="text-align:center;">Em seguida, acontece a 3ª edição do Festival de Música, que dessa vez está mais compacto, contando com apenas 3 bandas. Foram convidados o <strong>Daniel Peixoto</strong> (que tocou na 1ª edição do festival e recentemente lançou seu projeto solo), <strong>Subburbia</strong> (que foi selecionada na edição passada, mas devido a um problema no dia do show, não puderam tocar) e a banda <strong>Multiplex</strong>.  Antes das três bandas se apresentarem, o <strong>Alloyha Copacabana</strong> toca e quem fecha a grande noite é o <strong>Copacabana Club</strong>, com apoio da MTV.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I was lecturing my friend, Anja, about how giving her kids Fruit Loops was disgusting when it occurred to me how disgusting and sick it actually was.  I&#8217;m not just talking about the fact that it&#8217;s unhealthy and full of sugar and chemicals and <a href="http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061119162913AAzfdRJ">insects</a>.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s disgusting because of what it does to your soul.</p>
<p>Paying seven dollars for a box of crap that you hate yourself for giving to your kids doesn&#8217;t make sense.  Does anybody feel good about giving their kids Fruit Loops?  The packaging goes crazy emphasizing the health benefits of eating this blatantly unhealthy food – &#8220;good source of calcium&#8221; it blasts across the front of the box.  It may be a source of calcium, but it is not a good source.  And don&#8217;t you put milk on it anyway?  The real purpose of this is to get around that warm fuzzy feeling that you have for your kids that, in a more rational world, would protect your child against this stuff using any means necessary.</p>
<p>The reasoning that goes into a decision to give your kids Fruit Loops, or any of this other crap, is a lot like the reasoning that addicts go through when justifying their next binge.  &#8221;I&#8217;ll just let them have it this once.&#8221;  &#8221;All the other kids eat this, so what&#8217;s the big deal.&#8221;  &#8221;It&#8217;s not that bad for them.&#8221;  &#8221;I&#8217;ll just buy it for the toy.&#8221; Or my favorite, &#8220;My kids won&#8217;t eat anything else.&#8221;</p>
<p>Your kids won&#8217;t eat anything else?   Eating nothing is better than that crap.   Starve them.  Or even better, give them something that&#8217;s good and tastes good.  Fry them a fucking egg.  It&#8217;s not that difficult.</p>
<p>So, this being a film blog, what&#8217;s this got to do with the price of a movie ticket?  Is this how we get marketed into crappy films over and over again?  Would the world be any better or worse if they had skipped making 2012, the Roland Emmerich movie?  Sure, we tell ourselves, two (plus) hours of mind-numbing nonsense is just what we need to forget all the problems in the world.  Isn&#8217;t that fucked up?  Why should we be trying to forget our lives?  I like my life, and I&#8217;m a pretty miserable person.  Shouldn&#8217;t we go to the movies to enrich our lives and make them more enjoyable?   Don&#8217;t you love coming out a film and discussing it, rather than trying to pretend that you didn&#8217;t just waste ten bucks and hopefully dinner won&#8217;t be so bad?</p>
<p>I guess you could argue that watching the world get destroyed has a certain cathartic value, and we all fantasize about how our problems would just disappear if the world just got blown up.  But all this is just marketing.  Just in case you&#8217;ve already decided that 2012 is a piece of shit, not worthy of your ten bucks, that&#8217;s when the New York Times comes up with a review that&#8217;s just good enough for them to plaster a quote across their poster.  You know, something like &#8220;RIP ROARING FUN!&#8221; or &#8220;THE MOST ENTERTAINING MOVIE OF THE YEAR&#8221;.   Or &#8220;A GOOD SOURCE OF ENTERTAINMENT&#8221;.</p>

<p>Why is this article in the Arts section?  As I was saying, there is nothing interesting to say about the film, so they talk about the business.  But really, couldn&#8217;t they have found some small film somewhere to champion with their front page Arts article?  This is how film criticism got killed in the first place, isn&#8217;t it?</p>
<p>The article itself is about how the producers can&#8217;t find a buyer for P.A. director&#8217;s next film.  Could it be that this is just another story about studios tightening their wallets, or is it that the studios are seeing this for what it is: a box office fluke; and that they can&#8217;t get over the fact that this film was shot on a camcorder and looks like shit and the movie sucks, no matter what audiences say?   </p>
<p>But really, who the fuck cares!!!</p>
<p>Is the reason they are talking about this because the movie is unworthy of discussion?  Whatever happened to Art?  Why couldn&#8217;t they have an article on the phenomena that this movie is: a piece of crap that audiences line up for?  Or even, an appreciation of the artistry of the film, maybe done by someone who likes it and thinks that the critics are snobs.  Anything but this!  </p>

<p><strong>Last night I attended an Independent Cinema Exhibition Event to achieve better viewing access to cinema in my region. It was organised by Screen South and Lighthouse to provided information helpful to independent and moving cinemas. The objective was to offer advice to expand and improve the service they offer. </strong></p>

<h2><strong>Advice to the independent film-makers<em> </em></strong></h2>
<p>Independent film-makers complain that they have difficulty getting their work shown. They chase around endless competitions and always hope to get a Directors Chair showing at a multiplex.  If this is your problem, there are untapped opportunities in local film groups and independent cinema. The three organisations represented at the event were the Independent Cinema Office, The British Federation of Film Societies and Moviola, a rural community cinema service. Both the ICO and BFFS are willing accept approaches to see your film to add to their recommended list. I am sure in the US and Canada similar organisations exist who can provide these services. The CIO also offers ICO screening days so independent cinema programmers can create viewing programmes. Even an organisation like Moviola might consider direct approaches with good products for their mature audiences without too many four-letter words. Independent and moving cinemas may be a market worth developing for independent filmmakers. So many rural communities no longer have access to cinema and a first rate personal service tailored to their needs is a great alternative to multiplex.</p>

Aşa că duce la un semieşec, gen Vista. La filme, ca la Windows. Ai o idee. E bună. Nu iese o capodoperă, însă e o viziune nouă, ceva inedit, creativ. Dar când faci şi Film 2 şi Film 3 şi Film 4 deja ideea e uzată, nu prea mai ai ce să aduci nou, deja lumea compară şi vede că te învârţi în jurul cozii. Evident, primul film e cel mai bun, poate şi al doilea, dar cam atât. După, totul e previzibil. Aşa că îl faci 3D. Acelaşi concept, nimic nou, nimic surprinzător. Dar foloseşti o tehnologie nou.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Acum la subiect: Final Destionation 4. Frate, ăştia au tras-o de păr, dar grav de tot! Scenariu a fost unul extrem de fad, mai ales dacă ai şti F.D. 1, 2 sau 3. Şi cum au mai fost încă 3 înainte, şansele să le fi ratat chiar pe toate, sau măcar, cândva, un cunoscut să iţi fi povestit de filmul ăsta, sunt tare mici!</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">În dorinţa de a pune sânge peste tot, unele faze erau imposibile, fizic vorbind. De exemplu, uneia îi e prins piciorul într-un valţ si vezi doamne îi dă borşu&#8217; pe nas.  O fază destul de draguţă e când, după ce fata împroşcă cu sânge în dreapta şi stânga, pentru că are unghia de la degetu mare de la picior între doi cilindrii zimţaţi, ajunge în sfârşit să fie stoarsă de tot, mai ceva decât strugurii atunci când faci must, dar splina, sau ce o fi fost, o bucată de carne, se învârteşte graţios pe unul din axurile mecanismului scării rulante, fără o urmă de strivire, după ce fata fusese zdrobită, cătinel-cătinel. Bine, sunt eu cârcotaş, dar parcă e prea de tot, om fi proşti că mergem să vedem episodu 4, dar nici chiar aşa cum ne cred ei&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">În rest, nu prea mare lucru. Nu tu faze să te bage în scaun, sânge şi câteva maţe, o pereche de ţâţe la un moment dat şi atât. Cam puţin pentru mine. Oricum, asta îmi e învăţătură de mine, să mă duc să mai văd &#8220;episodul&#8221; cinşpe mii din nu ştiu ce film artistic. Singura consolare e că de data asta nu am mai stat în  primul, ci în ultimul rând, la mijloc. Dar cred că mai bine mă duceam la filmul ăla cu şobolani, G-Force.</p>

<p><em><strong> </strong></em>Here&#8217;s a very interesting article from <em>Variety </em>about a study of filmgoing habits that breaks down age groups and how they make choices about what movies to see in the theater.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the quick shot: only old people read newspapers&#8230; TV still matters&#8230; and movies are definitely recession-proof.</p>
<p>Findings from the study&#8230;</p>
<ul>
<li>An estimated 94% of all moviegoers are now online.</li>
<li>73% of young moviegoers surveyed have profiles on social networking sites.</li>
<li>Social networking <span style="text-decoration:underline;">must </span>be used by studios to attract young moviegoers.</li>
<li>TV still dominates as the leading tool to generate awareness for films, above in-theater trailers, word of mouth and the internet!</li>
<li>Only audiences over 50 rely on newspaper reviews, while 62% of respondents get their reviews online.</li>
<li>75% said they trust a friend&#8217;s opinion more than a movie critic, yet only 40% said negative reviews from their peers would dissuade them from seeing a movie. Basically, if a moviegoer, especially a younger one, makes up their mind to see a movie, nothing can stop them. (Which explains why I saw <em>Howard the Duck</em> opening weekend as a kid.  Oh, Lea Thompson, you siren of the 80s!)</li>
<li>79% of those questioned said, &#8220;Going to the movies is a good escape from everyday life.&#8221;</li>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p style="text-align:justify;">Nel maggio del 2009 l&#8217;<strong>Autorità per le garanzie nelle comunicazioni</strong> aprì un&#8217;istruttoria sulla distribuzione dei canali tv in Italia e sul rispetto della <strong>quota del 20% per editore</strong>, fissato dalla famigerata <strong>legge Gasparri</strong>. Sotto le insistenti denunce di varie associazioni di consumatori, come Altroconsumo, l&#8217;<strong>Agcom mise sotto inchiesta Mediaset </strong>sospettata di essere sopra questo limite. Oggi è stato decretato che <strong>Mediaset   non supera il tetto del 20% </strong>di capacità trasmissiva in digitale. L&#8217;Autorithy ha chiusto l&#8217;indagine, anche se si riserva di fare ulteriori approfondimenti sul dossier.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Ma torniamo alla <strong>strana inchiesta</strong>. La prima rilevazione effettuata in maggio metteva in evidenza la <strong>Rai con il 8 canali su 42 totali</strong>, quindi sotto il limite, mentre <strong>Mediaset aveva 14 canali e il 33,3% dell&#8217;intero spettro digitale.</strong> Il limite del 20%  non è mai stato verificato neanche in epoca di tv analogica in Italia, se escludiamo la denuncia di Europa 7, ma ora nell&#8217;era digitale il calcolo è più difficile e variamente interpretabile. Non si capisce bene se l&#8217;Agcom ha tenuto conto dei canali +1 (che trasmettono la stessa programmazione un&#8217;ora dopo), di quelli in pay-per-view, i canali test di proprietà dei principali media tv, o anche dei canali Studio Universal e Steel, trasmessi dal multiplex Mediaset ma non facenti parte del gruppo.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">La conta finale delle emittenti è sicuramente in <strong>continua evoluzione</strong>. In questi mesi sono nati nuovi canali sulla piattaforma digitale terrestre e la <strong>riorganizzazione delle frequenze</strong> e la <strong>riassegnazione su base d&#8217;asta pubblica </strong>è ancora un miraggio. Il <strong>conteggio è poco chiaro</strong>, ma ci si può tentare: i canali nazionali, quindi ricevibili in ogni punto del territorio italiano sono attualmente 95, suddivisi in <strong>8 multiplex</strong>. La Rai ha sempre attivi 8 canali. Se si eliminano le frequenze inattive (24) e le radio, i canali Studio Universal e Steel, ho contanto ben <strong>25 canali Mediaset su 71 totali, cioè il 35,2% dell&#8217;intero panorama del dtt</strong>. Eliminando anche i canali +1 la percentuale del 28,1% rimane inesorabilente sopra i limiti di legge&#8230;  <strong>Ma che conteggio ha fatto l&#8217;Agcom?</strong></p>

<p><a href="http://hackaday.com/2009/09/12/dot-matrix-clock-on-the-way/">Clocks made</a> from <a href="http://hackaday.com/2009/04/08/the-bulbdial-clock-comes-to-life/">blinking LEDs</a> always make for fun projects. [Earthshine] built a <a href="http://www.instructables.com/id/The-BlokClok-Concept-Arduino-driven-RGB-A/">clock that displays time abstractly</a> using an 8&#215;8 RGB LED matrix. The video embedded after the break illustrates how to read the time but here&#8217;s the gist of it: One LED is illuminated in the outside box of LEDs and moved in a clockwise motion to approximate seconds. Inside of this, there are four quadrants; upper left indicates hour-tens digit, upper right hour-ones, lower left minute-tens, and lower right minute-ones. This certainly makes for an interesting conversation piece!</p>
<p>There is no schematic and no code available but it&#8217;s really the concept that we&#8217;re interested in. If you must know, [Earthshine] bases this build around an Arduino. A DS1307 <a href="http://hackaday.com/2009/06/26/parts-i2c-real-time-clock-calendar-pcf8563/">real time clock</a> keeps the time, while four 74HC595 shift registers are utilized to control the three LED colors and the multiplexing.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I&#8217;ve been thinking about all the problems in American film right now and I&#8217;ve come to the conclusion that there are two main factors that are killing it, and they are so closely connected that they might as well be the same thing.</p>
<p>One is the cost of marketing and advertising a film.  The other is the studio cabal which essentially dominates the theaters and squeezes out any competition.  Why are they connected?  Because when they can&#8217;t simply threaten a theater to fill their screens with their films, they roll over the other films with their huge advertising budgets.  Which would you rather have in your theater: a little film of quality that has terrific word of mouth, or a 200 million dollar behemoth that has posters and TV commercials and saturates every corner of the media world for the week before it opens?  A small film really cannot compete on that level.</p>
<p>There is also declining DVD sales, but that is really an economic problem.  There&#8217;s not much you can do about Tower Records closing and most of the other DVD outlets.  I&#8217;m not convinced that piracy, at least right now, is contributing very much to this decline.</p>
<p>But, the trends are clear: once a film hits DVD, it&#8217;s value is going down.</p>
<p>Now, films before the 80&#8217;s had a very simple model.  They played in the theaters and that was it.  VHS came along around the same time as cable and as foreign sales started picking up, and all that changed the game, but before that, a theatrical run was about all you could make your money from.</p>
<p>Now, with piracy and declining DVD taking its toll, theatrical seems to be the best option to make money.  After all, attendance is fairly steady and people still like going to the movies.</p>
<p>So why is it that an industry was once able to make its money in the theaters alone and now it can&#8217;t?  And the answer is in the first paragraph.   Only a few films can afford to compete against the studios.  Niche markets are ready and willing to spend money, but good luck getting a screen near one of them.</p>
<p>So what can be done about this?  Outside of government intervention, there isn&#8217;t much.  But remember what happened to the music business?</p>
<p>The studios controlled the music business in the same way.  They only put out huge bands that cost too much and others had trouble competing.  When music became free, it was a disaster for the studios and for a lot of artists.  But it also allowed smaller bands and different bands to find their audience and make some money on the road.  From the consumer point of view, the internet was the best thing ever for music as it opened up competition that was shut out before.</p>
<p>Could the same thing happen in films?  I think it could, but theaters have to be opened up to competition because that&#8217;s the only equivalent filmmakers have to a live show, ie. making money.</p>

<p> Esta procedencia bien podría ser señales de video analógico procedentes de cadenas de televisión analógica (actualmente en desaparición), o bien señales de video procedentes de una sala de prensa o un plato de TV, o señales procedentes de Televisión Digital ya sea televisión Digital Terrestre o Televisión por Satélite. En la actualidad el caso mas común es este último, siendo así deberíamos proceder a la siguiente cuestión.</p>

<li> <em><strong>¿En que formato de codificación deseo grabar las cadenas de televisión que son objeto de monitorización?</strong></em></li>

<p>La televisión digital en si misma es audio/video en formato digital con codificación <strong>MPEG 2 Transport Stream. L</strong>os programas de televisión se agrupan en paquetes de transporte, llamados <strong>multiplex;</strong> estos paquetes de transporte llevan más información que la mera información de audio y video,  es decir, llevan asociados las guías electrónicas de programación, con información de la emisión de todas las cadenas y lo que es aun más útil e importante, <strong>información de subtitulación</strong> que cada vez es más implementando en la emisión para facilitar que las personas discapacitadas puedan leer lo que en pantalla se esta diciendo.</p>
<p>Siendo la tecnología digital de esta manera, sería lógico pensar que el formato <strong>MPEG 2 transport stream</strong> sería el ideal para realizar las grabaciones, porque además con la tecnología que aporta una cabecera de TV sobre IP, dispondríamos, <strong><em>si nuestra red de datos esta dimensionada con tecnología multicast, </em></strong>de la posibilidad de ver los canales de TV en cualquier puesto informático conectado a esa red, (si la red no soporta tráfico multicast, no se puede conectar esta información a la red de datos, ya que la inundaría  por completo, emitiendo trafico broadcast no controlado).</p>
<p>Otra de las ventajas de grabar la información directamente en el formato digital <strong>MPEG 2 TS</strong>, es que, si la plataforma de gestión lo permite, podremos acceder al vídeo que se está grabando en esos momentos, segundos después de que  empiece a ser grabado.</p>
<p>El inconveniente de grabar en formato MPEG 2, es la<strong> gran cantidad de almacenamiento en disco duro </strong>que se requiere para ello, ya que si por ejemplo  quisiéramos grabar 10 canales de televisión, durante 14 horas diarias, por un periodo de 28 días, el espacio útil necesario en disco duro seria de 8TB aproximadamente, con lo que si queremos almacenar  5 horas de contenido diario de cada cadena durante un periodo a largo plazo, deberíamos disponer de un sistema de almacenamiento mucho mayor, para realizar esta parte de archivo de la información, que quiere ser guardada durante un periodo prolongado de tiempo.</p>

<li><em><strong>¿Es entonces el formato MPEG 2 el ideal para la grabación en mi sistema de observación?</strong></em></li>

<p>Si, MPEG 2 es el formato ideal para la grabación diaria de las emisiones de televisión, pero sería conveniente que la plataforma de gestión, permitiese la <strong>conversión a otros formatos</strong>, de todo aquel contenido que se quiere documentar e ir guardando para su consulta a otro formato de video digital, de una relación calidad/peso mucho más compensada, como por ejemplo <strong>Windows Media</strong>.</p>

<li><em><strong>¿Por qué es conveniente que el sistema convierta  a este segundo formato?</strong></em></li>
</ul>
<p>El motivo principal es<strong> poder acceder a esa información importante y susceptible de ser consultada, sin utilizar un ancho de banda de red de 4,5 Mbits por segundo</strong>, que es el ancho de banda que se usaría si todo el que tiene que acceder al sistema lo hace en calidad MPEG 2, con lo que se cargaría en exceso la red de datos. El procedimiento habitual es que los documentalistas, que suelen ser un grupo reducido de personas, accedan a los videos a documentar en formato MPEG 2, y aquello que se va documentando sea convertido automáticamente por el sistema en calidad Windows Media de 300 a 500 Kbits por segundo. <strong>De esa manera permitimos muchos más usuarios concurrentes accediendo al sistema, evitamos el excesivo consumo de discos duros de nuestro almacenamiento</strong>, a un ritmo 10 veces inferior y además, algo de gran importancia, <strong>si tenemos usuarios que necesitan acceder a la información de nuestro sistema desde fuera de nuestra red local, vía Internet o dispositivos móviles, hacemos posible que lo hagan a través de este formato de buena calidad y bajo coste de red, siendo imposible que desde Internet se acceda a la calidad MPEG 2 grabada originalmente.</strong></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">La sfida è partita dal satellite ma potrebbe presto spostarsi sul <strong>digitale terrestre</strong>. Per rispondere a Rai, Mediaset e Telecom Italia, <strong>Rupert Murdoch starebbe preparando un colpo ad effetto</strong>. Secondo alcune voci il patron di Sky avrebbe iniziato a studiare con attenzione il dossier «<strong>Rete A</strong>», la tivù del <strong>Gruppo Espresso</strong> che possiede due mux, i <strong>preziosi multiplex digitali</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Di comprarli però non se ne parla: fino al 2014 Sky non può acquistare asset televisivi. Ma può <strong>affittarli o stringere alleanze</strong>. Ed è ciò su cui sarebbero al lavoro i consulenti del tycoon australiano e quelli di <strong>Carlo De Benedetti</strong>, che attraverso Sky potrebbe trovare una degna sistemazione a «Rete A» per la quale ha affidato un mandato a <strong>Mediobanca</strong>. Ma, soprattutto, con la sponda dell’Ingegnere, Murdoch troverebbe rapidamente il modo per rendere la vita meno facile a Rai, Mediaset e Telecom Italia.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Nella partita avrebbe un ruolo, sostiene qualcuno, anche <strong>Tarak Ben Ammar</strong>, consigliere storico di Murdoch, membro del board di Sky Italia e di Mediobanca. I colloqui sarebbero in corso. <strong>Sky punterebbe a prendere in affitto i mux di De Benedetti</strong>. Ma i consulenti starebbero valutando se è possibile fare anche qualcosa in più.</p>
