So I often think what is the most random track that someone will try and make a dubstep remix out of

So I often think what is the most random track that someone will try and make a dubstep remix out of. Best way to find the answer is to have a little youtube search. I think I have found some of the most random, which shouldn’t good but they just do. First of all its actually a track from Jakwob and he had done the tune from the Natwest advert in a dubstep style and it sounds absolutely wicked. You have simply got to listen to it, bass drops and it sounds like it belongs right there.

Jakwob – Zuric (Advert Re-Shuffle)

Next is the Boson dubstep remix of Ginuwine and “Pony”. This is a classic from way back in the mid 90’s. Even then it actually had a wicked bassline and was a wicked tune. But deep, dark bass under this track has taken it to another level and reminds me of the Rusko track “Da Cali Anthem” if you like that track, this is the same sort of vibe.

Ginuwine – Pony (Boson Dubstep Remix)

I have left the best and undoubtedly the most random track for last. It the Hereldeduke dubstep remix of “The Snowman” and I think it sounds amazing and should get all the dubsteppers in the Christmas Mood. It shouldn’t work, but the track and deep rolling bass just seem to go well together. Check it Out.

Its getting cold outside now and I want like to hear some nice comforting music and nothing hits tha

Its getting cold outside now and I want like to hear some nice comforting music and nothing hits that spot better than a few striped back and great acoustic performances. These are some of my favourites at the moment. First one is from Ellie Goulding with Erik Hassle. I think this girl has an amazing voice, here we’ve got a cover the Robyn track “Be Mine”. I don’t know much about the guy on this track but the track works well as duet.

Erik Hassle and Ellie Goulding – Be Mine (Robyn Cover)

Next got a got from one of my favourite electro pop acts doing an acoustic version of their first track “Sleephead”. Its a great track on its own but here, when its been completely stripped back it just like a lullaby. I think it shows how good the track is that it holds up so well when it is so good with just a keyboard and a voice.

Passion Pit – Sleepyhead (Acoustic Piano Version)

How about some acoustic hip-hop, that’s right Wale has done an acoustic version of “Diary” off his Attention Deficit album. I think this sounds great, alot of credit has to go to the female vocalist, Marsha Ambrosius who really makes this track stand out. I just like the fact Wale is trying different things, keeping it fresh, like new talent should.

Virgin Media is now acting as chief lapdog to the Lord Mandleson sell out of the internet to the dyi

Virgin Media is now acting as chief lapdog to the Lord Mandleson sell out of the internet to the dying music distribution industry. Virgin Media is to trial deep packet inspection technology to measure the level of so called illegal filesharing on its network. Customers being monitored will not be informed.

Virgin will use a product called CView, sold by Detica, a BAE subsidiary that specialises in large volume data collection and processing, and whose traditional customers are the intelligence agencies and law enforcement. BAE profited massively from the Neo Con Labour War in Iraq and Afghanistan, now it loks set to profit again from The War Against Piracy.

The CView product will operate at the centre of Virgin Media’s network with an aim of estimating the proportion of filesharing traffic that infringes copyright.

40 per cent of Virgin Media’s traffic will be monitored. If you are on Virgin and are not being monitored today, tomorrow you may well be. If this is truly limited to peer to peer traffic then your next game on your XBOX 360 may be monitored. It would be all but impossible to identify the difference between a game played on your XBOX 360 and an encrypted bit torrent file. This will therefore exaggerate the amount of “illegal” bit torrent traffic.

The system will look at traffic to identify peer-to-peer packets. The programme then looks at those packets to determine what is licensed and what is unlicensed, based on data provided by the record industry.

Virgin promises data will be aggregated and and made anonymous. The trial though has no scheduled end date.

It should be remembered that CView uses the the same technology that powered the Phorm advertising system, which monitored individual internet users to target advertisements. It too was trialled – by BT – without customers’ consent or knowledge. The Government faces an EU investigation for allowing this.

Detica will want to sell this to other ISPs. So there may be no escape from this. Once all ISPs have this, how anonymous will traffic be then?

Virgin Media’s implementation will they promise focus on music sharing. Of course their proposed music download service has nothing to do with this. Are you sure you will not be flagged because of a video you watch on youtube or even Vidzone on the PS3? Do you trust the list provided by the Music Industry?

Detica has is also trying to flog CView to the Government. In the sales document, Detica said that as well as aggregate data, CView could be used to categorise filesharers and apply technical measures against them, or target them to be sold legal alternatives.

Welcome to Digital Britain.

You got to check this vid. New guy on Dizzee’s Dirtee Stank label Smurife Syco. It is undoubtedly the coolest megamix you will ever hear.

If you like it check out his twitter @SmurfieSyco

Now a track from Tinie Tempah called Pass Out. I really like this beat, its got that pop element but still got that deepness in the bass. . You got to listen to this just to hear the line “I’ve been to Southampton, but I never been to Scunthorpe”.

Tinie Tempah – Pass Out

Also got the Tinie Tampah remix of Mclean with Broken. This must be the third time I have put a version of this track up, thats just cause I think it is a great track. I have got to say I prefer the Tinchy remix, but this is a close second. If you want to hear more of Tinie have a listen to this.

Mclean – Broken (Remix feat. Tinie Tempah)

I was going to put up a Boy Better Know remix of a Wideboys track but to be honest it is pretty crap. Instead something that may not be exactly grime but it is UK rap from Professor Green. He’s done a little remix with Calvin Harris’ “I’m not Alone” and it sounds absolutely wicked. He’s only put a few of his own versus in to the track but it really works and changes the track in a good way. Have a listen see what you think.

Got a great Jakwob remix of the Temper Trap track “Fader”. Temper Trap make great tracks

Got a great Jakwob remix of the Temper Trap track “Fader”. Temper Trap make great tracks for remixing, the vocals seem to lend themselves so well to anything, here they work perfectly some big wobbling basslines. And it all still sounds so chilled with just the under pinning of sub fequenceies.

The Temper Trap – Fader (Jakwob remix)

Here is something from DZ called “My Moon, My Dub”. This is darker than the Jakwob remix, it got those haunting kind of vocals in the background with the deep bassline. This is some quite stripped back dubstep, its all about the vocal and bassline, using them together to great music.

DZ – My Moon, My Dub

Last we got the Toddla T track “Rebel” remixed by Skream, I’ve also heard it called “Come Out and Play”. I didn’t like this track when I first heard it, but after a few listens it has really grown on me. I thinks its the slowed down jungle sort of beat that takes a few listens to get used. I really like the song now, I love the chilled almost reggae vibe you get from it. Skream’s bassline through the track is so good and gives the track some real depth.

Got a track from Timbaland here featuring Justin Timberlake, the track is called “Crazy Girl” and its a pretty cool little track. This track hasn’t made the Timbaland album, so has been leaked. I think this is a good thing beacuase this is pretty good track, so I hope the standard of the new album is top quality. Justin sounds good on this track, he works well with Timbaland.

Next is track by Consequence called “Whatever U Want”, but we got a wicked remix here it seems like Kanye West has everyone from his G.O.O.D music label appearing on this remix. There’s KanYe West (of course), John Legend, Common, KiD CuDi & Big Sean. He’s only missing his new best mate Mr Hudson! John legend sounds great on this track, I’ve always been a fan of his and Kid Cudi puts in a good show as well.

Last one here is Birdman featuring Drake and Lil’ Wayne with “4 My Town (Play Ball)”. To be honest I’m more interest Drake and Wayne parts of this track. Drake of course kills it, with Lil’ Wayne sounding cool as always. I like this track, but think the reason it will be popular is because of artists featuring rather Birdman himself.

Got a new remix from High Contrast, he has remixed Tiesto’s track “Kaleidoscope”, of course into a drum and bass smasher. High Contrast is just a phenomenal producer, every track he touches seems to turn to gold. This one is no different, bit darker than usual, but that is no bad thing, and there are as always just great breakdowns. This is a definite download.

Tiesto – Kaleidoscope (High Contrast remix)

Also got the great new track from J Majik and Wikaman, well actually Zulu remix of the track “Feel About You”. This is a wicked track and the remix makes the beat more Jumpy and Grimey. I just love deepness of this track, that plus the chopped up vocal here makes this remix as good as the original maybe even better.

J Majik & Wickaman – Feel About You (Zulu Remix)

Last track is one I am loving at the moment, Its a bit different from the other tracks. Its Chew Fu and Wiley with a track called “Take That”. It is a proper electro banger, with Wiley rapping over it and it sounds great. Got some big wonky, dirty bass. Wiley sounds really good on this track, defiantly the best thing he’s done since “Wearin my Rolex”. Have a listen and I think you’ll be impressed.

First producer who is dabbling in something a bit different is Rusko. The track is “Step” by Kid Sister featuring Estelle. To be honest Rusko has not ventured to far from his comfort zone, the track uses Rusko’s track “To Da Floor” with Kid Sister providing her unique style to the track and Estelle giving it a nice chorus. It is a cool track and I really like Kid sister on it, it brings something a bit some standard Rusko dubstep.

Kid Sister ft. Estelle – Step (prod. by Rusko)

Next up is the ever popular Chase and Status producing for Rihanna. The track they made is “Wait Your Turn”. This is a wicked track, I do think Rihanna has a great voice and this track is a winner. The track is a slightly more conventional R&B/Pop beat, but a heavy bassline comes with it. I’ve got say its a tune and guys have done well here.

Rihanna – Wait Your Turn (wait is ova) (prod. by Chase & Status)

As a little treat to finish with I’ve actually got another Rihanna track. This one called “Bubble Pop”. I’m putting this one up purely for one reason, it has got a wicked sample. Remember “Good Life” by Inner City. That’s right Will.i.am has sampled it to make a track for Rihanna. Don’t think the track made it on to her new album so you’ll have to get it here to listen.

Netsky is someone making waves on the drum and bass scene. I have already posted a remix he has done of the Miike Snow track “Black and Blue”, which was a cool track. Since then I’ve come across a few more of his tracks which I like. The first track I’ve got is “Smile”, I’ve had this one for a while and I like it alot. Its that drum and bass sound that isn’t too heavy and just has a good beat and vocals.

Netsky – Smile

The other tracks I have are “Your Way” and “Lost in this World” which I love. Both are great tracks, which are on that liquid side of drum and bass. With cool vocals and decent basslines I recommend downloading the lot and show you support on his myspace.

You may recognise the name She is Danger. I recently posted a remix they did of “Under the Sheets” by Ellie Goulding. They are a female production duo who produce dubstep based music which is fused other elements of the dance and music world. Creating quite an original sound.

Now they have got their own track coming out called “Hurt You” which is being released on 14th December. I’ve got to say that I really like this track. It got something very dark about it, with basslines that almost remind me of Burial. The vocals are really good, quite dark in places but suit the track.

Spotify, the European on-demand music streaming service that has taken Europe by storm, will apparen

Spotify, the European on-demand music streaming service that has taken Europe by storm, will apparently delay a US launch. For several weeks now there have been reports that the major labels were putting pressure on Spotify to abandon a free, ad-supported streaming model. The New York Times recently reported that major labels, already involved as backers with free ad-supported services like MySpace and Imeem, aren’t eager to license their catalogs to Spotify on that basis.

And they have a lot to say on the matter. “On-demand services have to negotiate private deals with the labels – there is no compulsory license, and the deals are not public.” according to David Oxenford a legal expert in streaming audio licensing.

But how much is the new Google music platform impacting this? Google Music is now driving listeners to Imeem and MySpace/iLike – the two services that are licensed by the record labels to stream on-demand. With that deal in place to support the two services that the record labels are already invested in, would they want to see Spotify come in and disrupt the market for on-demand services? Given some time, and the preference they’re getting from Google Music, Imeem and iLike (owned by MySpace) should be able to build their brands as destination sites for on-demand music.

Instead, the record companies would like to see Spotify offer their service on a premium basis, to those that subscribe. “We like Spotify as our partner in Europe, but we would like them to move more toward a paid subscription environment,” said Thomas Hesse, president of global digital business at Sony Music, as reported by the New York Times. Word is, Spotify is not happy about coming to the US with a paid-only model, hence they have delayed their launch.

Got a new track from The Count and Sinden, its the B side from the soon to released track “Strange Things”, the track I have is “Elephant 1234″, this track is big. This is typical count and sinden, big bassline house music and I love it. Not much more I can say, The Count and Sinden are some of my favourite producers around and together they just make wicked music. Look out for the A side Strange Things, its a jungle track and its a banger.

The Count And Sinden – Elephant 1234 Removed by request of Record Label

Next up is a new remix from Sub Focus. Off the success of his self titled album, he has now remixed Dizzee Rascal’s new single “Dirtee Cash”. This remix could be massive, I was not a big fan of the original track but this remix unlocks the true potential of this track and given it loads of energy and a wicked bassline. I can see this getting a bit a radio play, I just can’t enough of Sub Focus at the moment.

Dizzee Rascal – Dirtee Cash (Sub Focus remix)

Lastly I’ve got a track I have wanted for ages and have only just got hold of it. It is the Armand Van Helden remix of “Dance the Way I Feel” by Ou Est Le Swimming Pool. Loved this one since I first heard it, its AVH given the track a bit of wobble and turning this track into a dance floor killer. This is great electro pop turned into something much more and AVH deserves a lot of credit cause I think this track is so good.

UPDATE: Lady Gaga’s hot like fire track “Telephone” featuring Beyoncé has just been added. The darkchild produced club banger is miles better than the “Video Phone” remix and it’s guaranteed to make you shimmy & shake!

We may not have the music video yet, but the remix just hit! Beyoncé and Lady Gaga teamed up and gave us the “Video Phone (Extended Remix)”. Honestly, I’m not sure if I’m a fan of Gaga’s contribution. She doesn’t seem to add anything to the song. I like the extended instrumentals and extra ad-libs though…

In any case, I’m still excited for the video!

The first track has a massive sample I’m sure everyone will know (especially from your saturday nights in). The track is called “Requiem For A Dub” by Dubliss Nipplestep. Know very little the people who made it apart from they are from South Africa. The best way I have heard this track described is “dubstep on coke”, which is actually quite apt, you could almost call it Fidget Dubstep. I hooked on it, I should mention it has some insane bass, be warned.

So next up is a storming Welcome to Jamrock the Damian Marley track given the dubstep treatment by Savoy. This is a Canadian outfit, usually make more electro rocky stuff. But this track is a long way removed from that. This is deep and dirty, just love the original of this, so making it this down and dirty just makes me love it even more. I would sum by saying like Jamrock, like Dubstep, Love this.

Damian Marley – Welcome to Jamrock (Savoy remix)

Last track has been around for a while, but it has taken till now for me too listen to it. Its the Chubby Fingers dubstep remix of Bloc Party’s “Banquet”. Its another absolutely deep track, its such a good track in the first place its hard to top. But that increased bite to this remix has given new energy to the track and almost makes me want to metaphorically dig out my old bloc party tracks. Watch out at 3 mins, big bass drop comes out of nowhere.

So I posted about Ellie Goulding a few weeks ago, her single ”Under the Sheets” was released on Monday, only on 7″ inch vinyl, love that. With it there have been some new remixes which I thought I would bring to you. First one is a remix by The Knocks, really like these guys they put a decent beat behind the track and turn it into a fun dancey electro pop track that would not sound out of place next to La Roux.

Ellie Goulding – Under The Sheets (The Knocks Remix)

Second remix is very different, really quite dark. Its a remix by Pariah. He turns the original vocals into something quite haunting, with the repeating vocal “You left a blood stain” and a seriously deep bass line. Defiantly one for the dubstep boys and girls, who want something a bit more meaty. I say download both, so that you can listen to Ellie whatever mood your in.

This first track is pure Liquid drum and bass comes from Mace and Solley and its called “Light Up The Darkness”. Its not brand new, but its the first time I’ve heard it. Its that great chilled out D&B sound, but still with some storming bass. If your like this type of thing you are sure to love this. Check it out if you’re not sure.

Mace & Solley – Light Up the Darkness

Next one is a track called “Ride” by a guy called Edward Oberon. Its another Liquid number just as good as the last one. I can’t get enough of those chilled drum and bass, but still with a driving bass line.

Edward Oberon – Ride

Last track is DC Breaks remix of the track “Byrds of Prey” by Bertie Blackman. This one here I think is going to big track, already being pushed by the usual radio DJ, Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Mista Jam. It deserves to be it a great track that could be destined for mainstream success (which is not a bad thing). Download this, I know everyone will love it.
