Olá pessoal, um pouco atrasado porém mais uma vez estou aqui para mostrar quais foram os grandes destaques do programa musical mais legal lá do Japão: o Music Station!

Esta semana teve a segunda apresentação do Tomohisa Yamashita / Yamapi no programa para divulgar o seu single “Loveless”. Achei a performance dessa semana um pouco melhor que a da semana passada. “Loveless” é uma ótima canção e é muito recomendada!

Quem também se apresentou foi a banda Tokyo Jihen, liderada pela cantora Shiina Ringo. A música apresentada se chama “Noudouteki Sanpunkan” e este é o primeiro lançamento da banda após 2 anos sem lançar nada. Para conferir mais informações sobre este single é só clicar aqui.

O grupo GIRL NEXT DOOR também marcou presença no programa, apresentando o seu mais novo single “Orion”. Para saber mais sobre esse single é só clicar aqui.

E por fim, tivemos a perfomance da Becky, que agora mudou seu nome para Becky♪# (?). Ela é uma modelo/atriz que de vez em quando arrisca dar uma de cantora pop. A música que ela apresentou se chama “Kokoro Komete” e é o mais novo tema do anime “Crayon Shin-chan”. Nunca tinha ouvido falar nesta tal de Becky, mais ela até que canta muito bem! Confira:

OKOK I KNOW I said the previous post would be the last for tonight, but then I realized that Yamapi was on Music Station on the 27th, soooo I went to go youtube it XD Anyway, here’s the vid kekeeee.

I don’t like his hair today though -.- looks…greasy XD…he should just leave it and not put gel or wax or wtv he used! The hairstyle he had for Music Station last time with Jin was good. He should stick to that. This hair doesn’t make look very attractive…at least he decided to wear a hat when performing LOL. Anyway, I’m pretty sure it was live today =D I know his perf on Utaban on the 24th wasn’t, cuz his lips didn’t match the singing, but this one should be live.

Yamapi Talk + ‘Loveless’ on Music Station

Living in Japan offers a lot of perks yes, but also a handful of drawbacks. Chief among them, no Thanksgiving. That means no obnoxiously large amount of turkey, stuffing, corn bread or pie (oh how I miss it!), a trip to McDonald’s serving as a substitute for “American food.” No lazily sitting around watching football, unless refreshing ESPN counts. Hell, I’d settle for the parade at this point. So, all you folks who live somewhere they do gorge on poultry and athletics, be thankful you can do that instead of watching Japanese game shows like a zombie while munching on a Quarter Pound.

Positives to no Thanksgiving? Well, I have nowhere to be on a Friday night…so that means Music Station! Let’s get to this.

8:00 – Here we go! Before the swirl of bright graphics, though, Japan’s treated to an ad for “Romantic Christmas,” a compilation of, well you know, performed by J-Pop stars. The holiday season is finally here…even the creepy voice introducing the performers references it!

8:01 – The star of Buzzer Beat, Tomohisa Yamashita, gets to appear on this show for the second straight week, apparently to play the same song he did last week. These things happen when the audience is 99 percent female.

8:03 – GIRL NEXT DOOR perform their song “Orion” in the Peanuts Christmas tree lot with just enough room carved out for a violin section and a piano. The song itself starts up slow, the piano and vocals all but assuring we will be treated to a big emotional ballad. But then! A minute-so into the song a dance beat charges in to make this a slightly more hoppy affair, joined by some cheesy electronica squiggles far off in the back. “Orion” settles into this get-up for the next few minutes. The song’s got a great chorus that allows the lead singer to show off her impressive vocal chops, but that could be said for a lot of J-Pop songs so don’t get too excited. Ultimately forgettable, though the Christmas trees looked pretty!

8:05 – Single rankings of the week pop up. One song is called “America” from a CD about…America? The case had some goofy anime dude flying out of the Stars and Stripes to hug the world. The rest of the chart features much more familiar names…EXILE, Arashi, Funkey Monkey Babys. The top three feature the Buzzer Beat guy at three, followed by…huh??? Two songs I actually like? The second spot goes to Bump Of Chicken for “R.I.P.” while the pole position belongs to LANDS, and their enjoyable dance-rock number “Bandage.”

8:12 – Tomohisa Yamashita wearing what appears to be a glitter coated snow cap stuns the audience by performing a song he sang on the same program last week. This programming decision forces me to rehash the exact same sentiments I had last time I listened to this tune (it’s not good), so I’ll spare you the leftovers. My only new insight into “Loveless” is that it must be full of emotions and feelings and stuff because Yamashita keeps touching his stomach with his hand like he’s about throw up.

8:17 – This week’s Music Station montage focuses on the rock acts of Japan’s yesteryear. I realize it’s seriously easy to rip on a generation for their fashion choices…but geez, the people from this montage are hilariously dressed. If the Whitesnake tour bus smashed into a ska concert, you’d see better fashion results. OK, cue up the video of Michael Ian Black deadpanning to the camera about Blind Melon.

8:25 – Montage still going strong. Hey, you guys remember Rainbow Brite? The ’80s, crazy am I right?

8:32 – Seeing Music Station live must be one of the most boring ways someone could spend their Friday night. “Next up, this singer will watch some old video clips and then answer some laborious trivia questions!”

8:33 – Ahhhhh, the next performer is up, and she offers the perfect opportunity to expand on a point. Read Becky’s Wikipedia page. Note how little music factors into her celebrity unless her appearances on Pokemon Sunday include busting out the Pokemon Rap. A fair share of J-Pop artists exist in a similar situation where they exist as “talents,” a vague term best translated to “shows up on a lot of variety shows,” who hitch their flashy wagons to whatever will sell best.

I think it’s safe to say Becky isn’t someone who loses sleep over the artistic merit of her music, which would explain why her Music Station numbers a Christmas-by-numbers song. If the bells joining her mid-tune weren’t clue enough, the set folks made it start snowing her performance to remind us “hey, the holidays are right around the corner, and here’s Becky with a new Christmas tune for y’all! She needs a new coat.” “心こめて” is a great reminder that one shouldn’t get to caught up in a J-Pop singer’s personality when said personality is all about selling product. At the very least though, the people behind these songs could give us something more lively than this.

8:40 – See, this is cool design! Tokyo Incidents lead singer is surrounded by digital clocks counting down the duration of the song. Even better…the song is pretty good! “能動的三分間” starts off with some disjointed electronics before dropping in drums, guitar and (most importantly) a very smooth bass line. It’s a surprisingly funky affair that never overdoes it. And I say this for half the artists featured on Music Station., but the lead singer’s got a great voice.

8:46 – The last performance of the night belongs to Remioromen. This one starts out incredibly intriguing – the group swirls various strings around before introducing a slightly off-kilter guitar. This blanket of backing music sounds downright dreamy, especially when the lead singer’s Ed Droste-ian voice falls onto it. The chorus, though, feels much more grounded, going for a sort of Coldplay-lite thing that ends up spilling onto the rest of the track. Remioromen promise a lot more than they deliver, but “恋の予感から” ends up a still solid song.

Winner of the Week – A close race between Remioromen and Tokyo Incidents, with the consistently solid swing of the latter winning out over the inconsistent prior. Video below.

Estou aqui mais uma vez para mostrar paravocês quais foram os destaques do programa Music Station desta última sexta-feira, dia 20 de novembro.

Começando o programa temos o johnny Tomohisa Yamashita, conhecido também como Yamapi, apresentando o seu mais recente single “Loveless”. Vale destacar que este single será o próximo #1 no ranking semanal da Oricon desta próxima semana.

A cantora Shiho Ochi que comanda o Superfly apresentou o seu mais novo single “Dancing On The Fire”. Recomendo muito essa música! Se você quiser saber mais sobre este single é só clicar aqui.

Quem também se apresentou foi a cantora JUJU que irá lançar o seu próximo single, “PRESENT”, dia 25 de novembro. Confiram a belíssima apresentação da cantora:

Teve também uma performance especial da cantora Chisato Moritaka junto com o também cantor Inagaki Junichi. Esta cantora fez muito sucesso lá no Japão durante os anos 80 e 90. Em 1999, Chisato decidiu terminar sua carreira musical para se dedicar ao seu casamento. Agora, ela voltou a aparecer ao público para cantar a música “Ame”, lançada por ela como single no ano de 1990, só que agora com o cantor Inagaki Junichi que regravou esta canção que estará presente em seu novo álbum:

Para finalizar temos a apresentação do LANDS. Esse tal de LANDS é um grupo fictício composto pelo músico e produtor Takeshi Kobayashi e pelo Jin Akanishi, integrante da famosa boyband KAT-TUN. Este grupo foi criado para o filme “BANDAGE”, onde o próprio Jin participa. A música tem o mesmo nome do filme e será lançada como single dia 25 de novembro. Confiram a performance:

LANDS on Music Station! Which is a ‘band’ from the movie Bandage from which Akanishi Jin (KAT-TUN) stars in. Jin tied his hair up…he looks better with his hair down IMO. Live perf wheeeeeeeee!! The single for the song comes out on the 25th.

Yamapi’s there too…HM I SHOULD GO LOOK FOR VIDS OF HIM ON THEN =P

Jiiiin!!!! Verlo con esa colita, me ha dejado x_x… le queda taaaan bien, además que sin tanto cabello en la cara se puede apreciar su belleza, aunque igual los lentes tapen sus bellos ojos >_>…. pero que importa, Jin salio *¬*… Mejor no sigo porque seguirá hora de horas elogiandolo u_u.

Sorry devoted readers (all three of you), I can’t do my weekly report on Music Station as I’ve got places to be on a Friday night. Since I can’t catch the five performances lost among a sea of old Music Station clips, I’m doing the next best thing – listening to the artists featured on tonight’s episode. Without further ado, here are the songs featured on the show this week according to the official site.

JUJU – “Present”

A typical J-Pop ballad. The music hangs around in the background to allow JUJU’s voice to overpower everything else. An obvious choice, as she sings excellently, especially near the end of the track when she picks up the urgency ever so slightly and her voice jumps up a level. Then again, there are a hundred other J-Pop divas you could plug into “Present” with the same result. It’s another slow song that could contain the most poignant lyrics ever penned but she could also be crooning about paint thinner for all I know. “Present” ends up being another pretty enough but unremarkable J-Ballad littering the charts.

Superfly – “Dancing On The Fire”

A too-long, undercooked dance track milking a generic “rock” beat for all it’s worth. Superfly fail to latch onto anything of interest here, settling to ride out the aforementioned beat and throw some “don’t you forget we make rock music!” guitar on top. The chorus ends up being the biggest letdown, not taking the song in any interesting new direction (which it needs) and not even being catchy. I imagine live this could be cool coupled with some sweet pyrotechnics, but that’s about it.

山下智久 (Tomohisa Yamashita) – “Loveless”

Tomohisa Yamashita is a member of boy band NEWS (near unsearchable in any language). More importantly, he starred in the J-Drama Buzzer Beat, which combined something I love (basketball) with something I don’t like nearly as much (drama television). I watched every episode, though, so dude did something right. Unfortunately, “Loveless” is some straight up VH1 wake up music, ala Elliott Yamin or other dudes baring their souls over some pianos squared up with dance beats. In other words…AIRBALL.

LANDS – “BANDAGE”

This song and the JUJU tune above share a bit in common, but LANDS’ number blows “Dancing On The Fire” away. Whereas that song goes to great length to show how rock-n-roll it is, “BANDAGE” opts for a more reserved, slightly dancey feel. The cop-out description here would be to label it “indie” sounding. Anyway, besides squeezing more out of less, LANDS also conjures up a chorus worth waiting for. It’s a bouncy rock number concealing some disco in it’s DNA.

稲垣潤一 ＆ 森高千里 – 雨

So, uh, here’s one reason I like watching Music Station to do this…I can’t find this song (or artist!) anywhere. I get a few clues, but can’t find a track to listen to anywhere online. Hope you can find a bootleg tape of the Nov. 20 Music Station!

Winner Of The Week – LANDS going away. A bouncy little piece of indie rock that’s deceptively danceable. Can’t wait to actually here the whole cut.

A dupla de hip-hop Hilchryme lançará seu terceiro single major, “Mou Byebye”, no dia 2 de dezembro.

O Hilchryme recentemente lançou seu segundo single, “Shunkashuto”, que conseguiu se tornar um grande hit no Japão, subindo rapidamente nos rankings e vendendo muito bem.

“Mou Boyebye”, descrita como uma música romântica, foi lançada anteriormente como um single indies em julho de 2008 e agora estará disponívei para um público maior em uma versão remake.

Confira logo abaixo a segunda performance que a dupla Hilcrhyme fez no popular programa Music Station, que ocorreu nesta última sexta-feira, onde eles apresentaram mais uma vez o hit “Shunkashuto”:

I kinda got addicted to the song after listening to them sing it ‘live’, and in Oct 23’s appearance they were supposed to look at each other and sing nearer to the end of the song. Tsuyo had this serious expression on his face and staring directly at Koichi, while Ko-chan’s eyes were swaying so much! He must have been too shy about singing to Tsuyo XD But I love Tsuyo’s look in his eyes as he croons in Ko-chan’s direction ♥

And so I finally copied the songs from the singles into my iTunes, along with Takki’s Hikari Hitotsu Jacket D bonus track Boku ga iru. But unfortunately other than Swan Song I haven’t had the chance to listen to the others properly yet. Sigh. Taking a break at work now to update actually….. while stealing some time to give the other tracks a proper listen.

Told you this was getting popular – the Afflac jingle “Manekineko Duck No Uta” has gone from 30-second spot to twee-tastic music video to an actual live experience. Japan Probe has got the video.

Most startling of all is this performance seems to be happening on Music Station, probably the biggest weekly music show on in Japan (and also a show I keep meaning to live blog for this here site, but always find myself going out on Friday night instead). Mariah Carey just performed on this show, and now they’ve got this. Really, the only thing you can say about this tiny phenomenon is it just keeps getting cuter (peep the flu mask the kid is sporting). Also, this song is probably better than 50 percent of the stuff Music Station usually features.

Want to meet that duck-cat so bad.

Teve também a performance de um menininho cantando uma música de um “gato pato” (?). Não sei nada sobre essa música, só sei que ela é uma das mais baixadas pelo Chaku-uta e será lançada como single dia 4 de novembro. Enfim, ela é a “Gake no Ue no Ponyo” 2009! Confiram:

I got to thinking last night. I only offer their music downloads, but why not videos – PVs and lives, and the like?

Why not? Sure, I may not be the original provider of these videos. Make note I will give the proper credit if I reupload another person’s video, or just simply link to their site and/or download. But it’d be cool to offer everything SCANDAL, all in one place!

And I may attract some more attention from all you SCANDAL fans, too. *eyes any fans who haven’t seen her blog, greedily* Haha, just kidding! xD But seriously, I know there’s lots of you guys out there, and I want to make this blog as appealing as I can.
~Scandalous~ started out as a fun little project of mine to talk about this awesome new band, and possibly some nifty stuff, but I want to branch out from personal to global, if you get what I mean. =P

I finally was able to visit some of the places I since longed to go to.

Ever since SM Mall of Asia opened their own Science Center, I had planned of visiting the place but it usually doesn’t go as planned (which usually happens).  I just read about the place in the internet and stuff. So basically, it was a wish long forgotten until me and my friends happened to get together at SM MOA. Again, another trip unplanned. I’m starting to get used to trips like these as, usually, unplanned trips are those that goes really fun and enjoyable. And lately, all my trips had been like these, hehe.

So after meeting Ann, Zaide and Jen at MOA last Sunday (October 4, 2009), and after long discussions on what to do while eating at BK, we decided to go to Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center. Tickets cost like P330 each but if you have an SM Advantage Card or a BDO Rewards Card, they’ll take P30 off.

The ticket/card they give you as pass. Sadly, the machine where you enter the card doesn;t spit it out so no remembrance.

We were like just in time (as in super exact, you need to enter right now) for a film showing at the Planetarium. This is again another first for me, which is kinda sad and pathetic since the Manila Planetarium was like a 5 minute walk to where I go when I was in college. The seats are inclined as they show the film at the ceiling.  They show a different film every 2 hours or so, ours was a 3d film titled “Dark Star”. So if you like to watch a different film, check the schedule at the counter.

After the film and a quick stop at the comfort room, we decided to check the interactive exhibits in the center. First stop was the “Grossology” area. They discuss here the grossness of the human body, which is kinda fun until we had enough of the sniff sniff machine.

A quiz where you get to play against 4 other people about all that is gross happening in the human body.

I kinda aced this one, hehe.

A Burp Man something. You need to pump the gas using a lever and see bubbles form from his stomach and on the straw where he’s “sipping soda”.

I don’t know what they call this exhibit. There’s a camera in the center (the black square) and it records your movement. You have to search what square you are on at the big screen(we had a hard time looking where our square was).

You have to transfer all the wastes from the blue circle (kidney?) to the red circle (urethra?).

This was kinda fun until we had enough, haha. There are four bacterias presented here and you have to choose from which part of the body (mouth, armpit, anus, and foot) you would like to smell.

The “Barf Barf” game. You need to choose the correct order how a barf goes on your body so you can make the guy barf.

You need to place the correct body part/organ using the tongs without touching the sides.

After our “gross” adventure, we headed to an exhibit called “Transportation Nation”. Here they discuss different wonders of the automobile world. You get to design your own car, fly a flight simulator, and watch some presentations and stuff. There’s also this big red cycle thingy shown here (I dunno the name, and I don’t think we have a picture of it).

We  also tried some of the simulation games. There were two booths there where you can play soccer, volleyball, basketball, and something-that-I-don’t-know-what-game-it-is-called.

After the sim games, we decided to check the exhibit upstairs. The exhibit upstairs is composed of the earthquake simulator, virtual reef, robots and stuff.

After our little sidetrip, we decided to grab us some dinner. At first we were to eat at Pier One since we kinda like to have some Gilbey’s Premium Strength, hehe. But as we have talked about eating at Hooters for quite some time now, we decided to go and have our dinner there since we were already at the area. Sadly though, our cellphones are already low in battery so we didn’t have much pictures. But as they say, there’s always next time….

And there you have it! From playing robots to oggling at Hooters, it was a fun and eventful day. Now, I really do hope my plans for November push through, hehe…. ^__^

Music program, Music Station made their Top 100 songs of all time and let the fans do the voting. Who ranked number one and who ranked one hundred?

While we aren’t surprised at who made the ranking, there are few that are questionable. I’m kind of sad though, w-inds.’ “Super Lover ~I need you tonight~” didn’t make it. How can no one not like that song? We are glad to see Judy and Mary on there

On September 25th, 2009, Music Station will broadcast three hour Music Station special.
In this program, the national famous song of BEST 100 will be broadcasted.

Let us vote for TVXQ together with the Bigeast. wink.gif

Bigeast asked us overseas fans to participate to vote for,
“Doshite Kimi Wo Sukini Natte Shimattan Daro”, together with them.

I checked couple big TVXQ fan sites in Japan (with more than 10,000 members)
and as of now, around 100 people left their messages saying
that they are going to vote together with thier friends and families.

This is the 2nd time this season that I have to wait two weeks for another episode! First was Kochikame, now it’s Orthros. (And to think these are the only two I’m chasing now… ^^)

I wasn’t exactly paying attention to the storyline this time round. I guess it was the Ryuzaki famine that I had last week that made me just wanna squeal at everything Ryuzaki did, and WORE. OMG Takki was wearing a black vest over a dark brown/black shirt most of the time in this episode, which totally reminds me of Tsubasa when he appeared on Music Station on Aug 7!!!

(Ok, so the colours of the buttons are different, and Tsubasa rolled up his sleeves but Takki didn’t. Nevertheless, the style was the same! XD)

And this particular episode was aired on Friday Sep 11, Tackey & Tsubasa 7th anniversary!!! *can’t stop jumping around*

Other than this, there was actually nothing I really wanted to talk about. Maybe except how much anticipation I had for Ryuzaki to make a surprise move when he got out of the car and walked towards the hospital entrance. I knew that he’ll never admit defeat, and he surely must have something in mind to counter the situation. And he did! It was really kakkoii to ask the patients to decide the order themselves~! Something that Ryuzaki would do, like how he knew Nagisa wasn’t actually talking to her daughter on the phone anymore.

After last episode I actually kinda look forward to something developing between Ryuzaki and Nagisa… I was really negative when they had that kiss, but last episode rounded up and substantiated it quite well, as to why Ryuzaki would have an interest in Nagisa. 2 episodes left!
