Special guest Todd Barkan on HammondCast Show KYOURADIO, Jon Hammond interview with Todd Barkan, who ran Keystone Korner in North Beach. When Keystone closed in 1983, it was one of the last San Francisco clubs to regularly book national and international touring jazz groups. Barkan is now the artistic director of Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, the jazz club operated by Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, and he’s also a highly regarded producer who works with numerous domestic and European jazz labels.

Erstmalig findet in der sächischen Landeshauptstadt Dresden die größte Musikmesse Mitteldeutschlands statt. Vom 30.10. – 01.11.2009 präsentieren sich auf einer Fläche von 8.000 qm verschiedene Hersteller, Händler, Verlage und Agenturen. Das Messeprogramm umfasst Musikinstrumente, Zubehör, Noten und Veranstaltungstechnik. Natürlich fahren wir zur Dresdner Musikmesse und freuen uns schon auf unseren Stargast: DJ Eskei83! Am Samstag wird der DJ in regelmäßigen Abständen brandheiße Produkte am Deejayladen Stand B06, Halle 3 vorführen. Eskei83 ist seit 2000 DJ, angefangen hat er im Dresdner Motown-Club. Mittlerweile ist er einer der angesagtesten R&B-DJs seiner Stadt.

Auf der Messe ist natürlich noch viel mehr los. Unter anderem der “Erste Sachsenrekord der Gitarristen”, ein Minifestival, mehrere Workshops und einzigartige Ausstellungen, so zum Beispiel “Originalgitarren von Musiklegenden”.

Es ist nunmehr endlich der Tag gekommen, an dem ich meinen irangrünen Twitter-Avater niederlege (nicht, weil die Situation im Iran mir Anlass dazu gibt – aber das ist ein anderes Thema [1]). Der Anlass: All2gethernow und die Berlin Music Days beginnen in Berlin!

Wir erinnern uns: Dieter Gorny, Popkomm-Gründer und Vorstandsvorsitzender des Bundesverbandes Musikindustrie, haute in den Sack und schob alles auf das Internet: “Viele Unternehmen können es sich wegen des Diebstahls im Internet nicht mehr leisten, an der Popkomm teilzunehmen.”

Diesen Stunt hat Gorny eh niemand so recht abgenommen, und unter denjenigen, die mit ihren Plänen von der Absage im Regen stehen gelassen wurden, haben ein paar die Initiative ergriffen und viele haben sich angeschlossen: Luftig (um nicht zu sagen: wolkig, bzw. cloudig) wurde die All2gethernow u.a unterstützt durch Townhall-Meetings organisiert, am 16. und 17. September startet mit dema2n-Camp eine Art BarCamp, bei dem alle Themen eingebracht werden können, am 18. findet die a2n-Conference statt, die alle Fäden aufnimmt und zusammenführt.

Irgendwann im Rahmen der Vorbereitungen haben Personen, die sich mit ähnlichen Gedanken bereits trugen, ein Post auf diesem Blog (mit dem bewusst programmatischen Titel #unkomm – Strategiepapier für eine bottom-up Musikfachmesse und Festival) gelesen – es freut mich, dass man damit offensichtlich etwas anfangen konnte. Eine modifizierte Fassung ist nun im Booklet und auf Tip-Berlin zu lesen (Social Media Something habe ich mir selbst irgendwann mal unterstellt, Electronic Frontier noch nicht, passt aber eh;-).

Und für das Prinzip #unkomm – in seiner Manifestation als all2gethernow und Berlin Music Days – gebe ich meinen grünen Twitter-Avatar auf. Die Frage, wie man als Slacktivist (siehe unten) im Web in einer solchen politischen wie humanitären Ausnahmesituation (von der man als glücklicher Bewohner westlicher Industrienationen kaum betroffen ist) tätig werden kann, kann mit Twitter-Avataren nicht gelöst werden – Farbe für a2n bekennen, das traue ich mir damit zu.
