Dette er altså en parfymeomtale igjen. Duften, en EdP, med det nostalgiske navnet (dere husker Marilyn Monroe?) er utgitt av det franske merket Ego Facto, og parfymørens navn er Dominique Ropion, en nese med atskillig på merittlisten, bl.a. flere for Burberry, YSL, Lancôme og Frederic Malle. Liste for de interesserte her.

Notene er av Luckyscent oppgitt til å være:
Citrusnoter, appelsinblomst, heliotrop, rispudder, amber, tre, musk.

På meg starter den lett og søtt og friskt transparent, med en liten bitter undertone, helt tydelig appelsinblomst og sitrus. Ganske raskt blander en myk, søt, hyggelig og merkelig velkjent duft seg inn. Jeg leter etter en blomsterduft i det kjente, men kan ikke fiske fram noe som treffer.Kan det være rispudderet, tro?
Appelsinblomsten blir værende med etterhvert som duften utvikler seg, og blander seg med en deilig, ganske lett amber og musk. Jeg har ikke nok nese-erfaring til å klare å identifisere noen tresorter bortsett fra kanskje en lett røyknote, men det er i alle fall sikkert at denne i utgangspunktet lette og sitrusluftige duften utvikler seg i dybden med tida.  En femme fatale maskert som yndig uskyld.

Denne duften er det helt i orden å bruke til hverdags / på jobb, men det er en sånn en som, når du kommer nær den, og huden kanskje er blitt oppvarmet, er sexy på en veldig, veldig feminin måte, og jeg kjenner tydelig at det er greit å ta på noe med blonder underst når denne duften er dagens eller kveldens valg.

En liten oppdatering en time seinere: jeg lurer på om denne rett og slett ikke minner litt om Chanel #5 i drydown.

I was sent samples of Leslie Blodgett Perfume Diaries – Bare Skin, and while wearing it … I feel …. pretty, romantic, lady like. (hush up WinterWitch)
Many women proclaim a love, a passion for shoes, or purses. My passion’s are socks, and scents! And the scent isn’t coming from the socks.
This is not an overwhelming fragrance, to me it’s just the right amount. I have even allowed my tween to wear it. It’s just not overbearing, and is certainly suitable for those of all ages.

Top: No clock in sight and no reason to wake up. (Black Pepper, Freesia, Anise)
Middle Hot, hot hopping to the towel on sand. (Iris, Vanilla, Orchid, Plumeria, Patchouli)

Searching for that heart of gold translates well to the search for that special perfume. Maybe, just maybe, that special perfume will help to bring that heart of gold! Or maybe I am just dreamin’. At any rate, I have sampled two more perfumes, the first being Narciso Rodriguez For Her. And to think, I never thought I’d meet a musk I didn’t like! For this is essentially a musk, which breaks down simply: floral top notes, middle notes of amber, and a woody base. I appreciate the simplicity, and I think I know where they were going with this one, but for me, it just misses the mark. In spite of what were no doubt best intentions, this perfume smells like chemicals. Musky chemicals, but chemicals nonetheless. I would never wear this perfume. The second perfume I would never wear either, but for totally different reasons. It’s Agent Provocateur. I first got a sample of it because I LOVE the bottle, which is so stunningly simple. This perfume is a floral chypre, and it is big, brash, and rosy. This is an insanely sexy perfume, wanton and unabashed. I am not absolutely in love with its heady rosy heart, but I appreciate its pale woody base of oak moss, sandalwood, and maybe ambergris. These are the notes that qualify Agent Provocateur for the category of chypre. I just wish it didn’t take so long to get there, as first one must first brave the all-engulfing floral notes. Once you get to the base notes, it is really a great perfume. The reason I won’t wear it, however, is just because I don’t think I can pull it off. It is so unapologetically sexy, so bold and heady. Maybe if I were to wear the lingerie by Agent Provocateur…but what is the point, really? I am, after all, still searching for that heart of gold.

The thought of writing about the fragrance Musc Ravageur arrived to me such a long time ago, when I first had a sample of it thanks to a thrilling Fast but not Furious bid-racing on eBay : D.

But as I treasured this 2ml vial so much, I didn’t dare spray it about around just to test. So I changed my mind, planning to keep My Precious just for some special occasions, on which I would base my review later.

Therefore, the vial was put aside, waiting patiently for its glorious day to come ^__^.

One day, I read an infor from Internet that perfumes were best preserved in the condition of light and heat avoidance, I decided to deplace my little cute bomb to a darker place in my room. Seems a very wise decision, huh ^^. As being dark is the brother of being secret, the new cozy nest is of course a very secret place. We can say that it is so secret that no one except me could ever think of. And so secret that after a few days no one included me could ever find out T___T.

So, heartbrokenly speaking, the sample seemed to be buried alive. Even sadder is that I coudn’t deliver it any funeral oration adequating to its terrific olfactive beauty, as I could write no review with nothing in hand. Seems a very ill-fated vial, huh?

So, that’s the reason why it’s not till now when I’ve just bought a new bottle (not sample anymore) of Musc Ravageur that I can compose my review.

I like perfumes, and like most of my other hobbies, I’m very eclectic, i.e., I love all kinds of scents, hot or cold, upbeat or classy, sweet soft or dirty earthy. My philosophy is very simple: if it is perfume, then I’m in : ).

But that doesn’t mean I can get along with all scents. I just wanna contemplate in a solemn respect all variants of this precious liquid, to decode, discover and describe them, even those with whom I know I could never make a great couple hence I would never get engaged to.

Speaking of this special I-love-but-I-cant-wear category, musky fragrances seem to be a perfect delegation: I’m always glad to know them, but hardly can I imagine one day we would have a date : ).

First of all, most of them give me a headache, so une touche de sentir, OK, wearing all day, thanks but no thanks.

Secondly, they are always either too candied (due to the huge amount of accompanied vanille) or too … gayish (due to … only God and the creator could know ; )).

For the candiness, I like candy, I like sweetness, but I don’t think I will wear a candy-sweet smell. Maybe ‘cause this always gives me an “artificiality” feeling due to the impression of preservative and coloring chemical substances used in the confectionery industry.

For gayish-ness, in fact, sometimes I even wear the men or unisex perfumes, especially those I like my man to use, it gives me the feeling just like wearing his chemise. But a gayish perfume, ewwwwwhhhh, no way.

(Attention, if you are a gay, don’t be offended. I simply don’t like that smell on my skin, just like you don’t like the lesbianly smell on your skin either, rite )

In short, that’s all the reason why I haven’t intended to invest much money or time in the musky field ever.

… until the day I discovered Musc Ravageur ….

It is an exception. And one of the best exceptions ever.

The first time I tested it was incredible.

If you a Twi-hard, I should say “my blood sings for this perfume”. If the names Bella and Edward don’t ring any bells to you, then a little bit wordier : this perfume makes me feel absolutely extremely superbly happy.

At first, it really is a little bit heady, and I almost scream out: “Shalimar” as it resemblances very much to Shalimar of Guerlain, an immortal monument in the musky square, but maybe a mortal attack to my head .

But after a very short while, it softens down fast, no heady effect anymore and it transforms into this oh-so-sweet combination of vanille and cinnamon. But there’s nothing candy-like here, I mean “sweet” just in the sense of being pleasant. To be more detailled, it’s rich, warm, spicy but still très smooth, and sensual in such a gentle way that you desperately wanna bury you nose deep in that skin forever : ).

I feel soft, calmed, peaceful and totally relaxed. I think the turning point between the Shalimar-like phase and the real Musc Ravageur one seems to me like an unexplainable miracle : ).

Mr Chicken told me that he didn’t like me to wear this scent ‘cause it made him feel lose control : ). It’s also reported that many people wearing this perfume have tons of people running up and complimenting such things like “OMG, where can you get this, I’ve never smelled anything so wonderful, blah blah blah”. In some case, people even have the desire of being skin to skin or get lost in time by this scent.

So, first counter-indication:

This is an overwhelmingly and triumphantly sensual scent, if you are modest, you may find it a little bit embarassing or difficult to wear, you can even get hyped easily in some situations. Test it carefully, see if this is really what you want, if it is well compatible with your personality and if you feel comfortable wearing it.

This is very important. Perfume, I think, just like any other hobby, is simply personal taste, there’s no right nor wrong, no absolute dominant answer for everyone. You take what works for you, even if no one else likes it. Reversely, you don’t necessarily have to take the thing that works for most of other people. Don’t be afraid of following your instinct and still be honnest to your conscience, that’s the best way to find a good olfactive companion : ).

Second caution, seems a little contradictory to the first one:

This fragrance, unlike the tittle “Musc Ravageur” suggests and its createur Maurice Roucel praises “It is a musk that destroys everything in its passage”, in fact, is no “ravaging” at all. I even heard that it was kicked out from the “G7 musk society” for falsifying profile data due to this name (just kidding : D ).

Yes, this creation is sensual, sexy, even erotic sometimes, but no way of a dirty beast, a femme fatal or a seduction weapon with a destructive power.

So, if you are looking for something dirty and provocative, I recommend you Musk Koublai Khan, if you like something naughty and funny, just try Jean Paul Gaultier Madame, and if you want something powerful and edgy, get in contact with Mr Guerlain Shalimar or Mrs Chanel no 5.

Don’t ever expect these qualities from Musc Ravageur cause there isn’t.

Musc Ravageur is neither dirty nor naughty nor powerful smell. Its beauty lies in its unicity, in how mysteriously it interprets the Oriental spirit of a musk, which is typically known to be dirty or animalic, into such a smooth, sweet and velvet-skinned smell that peacefully hypnotizes both men and women : ).

In conclusion, I still hope that if someday you test Musc Ravageur you will enjoy it. Because if you like it, you won’t just like, you will definitely be in love with it, and you will feel so happy just like having discovered a grand treasure, a Holy Grail perfume, just like I did : ).

P.S: Its packaging is nothing extraordinary rite, just a cylinder bottle with a black topper . But I tend to think that this simple bottle holds a true genie inside, do you think so too, : )?

One aspect of the Roadster I have somewhat forgotten is the challenge of getting in and out of the car.  When I first picked up the car, one of the explanations was how to actually get into the car!

The August 24, 2009 issue of the New Yorker has an article “Plugged In” that discusses Tesla, Musk and charging stations. Rick Rubin, the co-head of Columbia records, was going to wait to buy a roomier model S because he found the Roadster painful. The funniest quote from the article is “many people have found that levering themselves into the Roadster’s low cockpit calls to mind a prison break through a ventilation shaft.”

After driving the car for a while, the procedure to get in and out becomes automatic and more graceful. To get in the car, place your foot first, body second, and then swing the other foot over. Getting out is more straightforward and less rigid and eventually you can get out while carrying large objects. The body builds up a muscle memory eventually. But you will need to instruct your guests how to get in and out of the car.

When I was a kid growing up in California, life was simple and innocent and there was a friend around every corner. They say you can’t go home again, which I know is true, and that makes me kind of sad. But I remember all those good times, especially those I spent with my childhood best friend. When I’d go over to her house, there was a certain delicious smell that I couldn’t place. I couldn’t tell if it was a soap or the perfume of my friend’s mother, or if the house was somehow enchanted and emitted this lovely scent. In all the times spent at that house, I couldn’t find any product that was responsible for this. The soap was Dial, the lotion, Rose Milk. No, neither of those. After I left California I continued to search for the elusive scent. I came to believe that it was a musk of some sort. The musks I encountered seemed almost on the mark; almost. And in my quest I certainly came across some really lovely musks. To this day I wear several different musks, usually in combination with a more structured perfume. So while I couldn’t find the exact scent I was longing for, I began to at least learn a bit about alchemy and the more mysterious attributes of musk in general. But then, several years ago, I came upon a musk that fit the bill: it was the same scent from my childhood, and the sweet, subtle scent had me intoxicated once again. It is called The Original Natural Musk Oil by Cooperlabs (a rather clinical and un-mysterious name). In addition to the oil, it also comes in a lotion and a bath gel. I am proud to possess all three, but more than that, I am satisfied. I am sated. I have found the scent I looked for, for so many, many years. Now, I don’t remember ever seeing a bottle of this stuff at my best friend’s house when I was small, but I am sure that if this is not in fact the original source of the scent, it is as close as I will ever get. And it helps me remember the old days, it helps me remember California.

L’Arc~en~Ciel ラルク アン シエル (Laruku An Shieru) adalah nama grup musik Jepang beraliran J-Rock. Band ini beranggotakan Hyde (vokal), Ken (gitar), Tetsu (bass), dan Yukihiro (drum). Grup musik ini didirikan oleh Tetsu pada Februari 1991. Nama “L’Arc~en~Ciel” berasal dari sebuah kata dalam bahasa Perancis yang secara harifiah berarti “lengkungan di langit” atau “pelangi”, nama ini diambil dari judul sebuah film Perancis yang pernah ditonton oleh Tetsu.
Di Jepang saja, band ini telah menjual lebih dari 25 juta kopi album dan singel.
Mantan personel yang sempat memperkuat band ini:

• Sakura (drum) (1992-1997) digantikan oleh Yukihiro karena memakai narkoba dan masuk penjara.
• Hiro (gitar) (1991-1992)

Awal terbentuknya L’Arc~en~Ciel

Osaka, sekitar awal tahun 1991 dua orang anak muda bernama Tetsu dan Hiro membentuk sebuah grup band. Tetsu berperan sebagai bassis berikut vokal sementara Hiro sebagai gitaris. Pada waktu itu Hyde masih menjadi gitaris di sebuah band bernama Kiddies Bomb, yang kemudian berganti nama menjadi Jerusalem’s Rod dan Hyde berganti posisi menjadi vokalis (meskipun pada saat itu ia sama sekali tidak tertarik dengan perannya tersebut).
Pada suatu hari Tetsu menyaksikan penampilan grup band tersebut untuk kali pertama. Ketika itu ia merasa yakin bahwa Hyde adalah orang yang tepat untuk mengisi posisi vokal di grup band-nya. Maka selama beberapa waktu ia terus mengikuti penampilan band tersebut, hingga pada akhirnya ia memutuskan untuk mengajak Hyde dan rekannya di Jersarem’s Rod, Pero untuk bergabung dengannya. Setelah beberapa kali melakukan session, Hyde akhirnya memutuskan untuk meninggalkan band lamanya dan bergabung bersama band Tetsu. Maka terbentuklah formasi paling awal L’Arc~en~Ciel, yakni Tetsu (bass sekaligus pemimpin band), Hyde (vokal), Hiro (gitar), dan Pero (drum).
Nama L’Arc~en~Ciel sendiri diusulkan oleh Tetsu yang terinspirasi oleh sebuah film Perancis yang berjudul sama. L’Arc~en~Ciel diambil dari Bahasa Perancis yang memiliki arti PELANGI.
Penampilan live pertama mereka yaitu pada tanggal 30 Mei 1991 di Nanba Rockets. Bahkan ketika itu sang pemilik panggung berpikir bahwa L’Arc~en~Ciel akan menjadi sangat terkenal, dan hal itu terbukti beberapa tahun kemudian.

Pengunduran diri Hiro & masuknya Ken

Pada bulan Juni 1992 tanpa alasan yang jelas, Hiro mengundurkan diri tepat sebelum mereka akan memulai demo rekaman. Setelah berbagai macam persiapan yang telah mereka lakukan sebelumnya untuk rekaman, misalnya mereka telah menyewa studio dan lain sebagainya, tentu akan sangat konyol apabila mereka membatalkannya. Maka Tetsu kemudian membujuk Ken, teman masa kecilnya untuk membantu dalam pembuatan demo. Ken menyanggupinya dan pada waktu itu ia harus menghafal seluruh lagu yang akan dimasukkan ke dalam album dalam waktu yang cukup singkat, yakni 5 hari, akan tetapi ia mampu melakukannya, dan proses rekamanpun akhirnya dapat selesai dalam 3 hari.
Akan tetapi muncul masalah baru, mereka harus manggung, namun Ken pada saat itu masih berstatus mahasiswa jurusan Arsitektur semester akhir di sebuah perguruan tinggi di Nagoya. Tentunya akan sulit melakukan dua kegiatan sekaligus, kuliah dan nge-band. Akhirnya hanya dalam tempo 3 hari saja Ken mengambil satu langkah berani dengan memutuskan untuk meninggalkan bangku kuliahnya dan bergabung dengan L’Arc~en~Ciel (meskipun pada saat itu ia tidak begitu yakin akan masa depannya di musik). Keputusannya itu tentu saja ditentang habis oleh orang tuanya yang menginginkan ia menjadi seorang sarjana. Akibatnya ia diusir dari rumah dan tidak pernah bertegur sapa lagi dengan orang tuanya.
Pada tanggal 1 Oktober 1992, mereka merekam Voice untuk album Omnibus CD bertajuk “Gimmick”. Beberapa minggu kemudian, tepatnya tanggal 25 November 1992 mereka merilis single pertamanya yang berjudul Flood of Tears (c/w Yasuoka) sehingga aktivitas panggung mereka bertambah padat dan penggemar pun mulai bertambah.

Masuknya Sakura

Tanggal 30 Desember 1992 lagi-lagi L’Arc~en~Ciel harus kehilangan salah satu anggotanya. Pero mengundurkan diri tepat setelah penampilan live mereka di Osaka Music Hall. Maka kemudian Tetsu mulai mencari drummer pengganti, ia lebih memilih untuk mencarinya di Tokyo, toh pada saat itu ia pikir pada akhirnya mereka akan merantau ke Tokyo.
Pada suatu hari ia melihat penampilan Sakura yang langsung menarik perhatiannya. Kemudian Tetsu mencoba mengajaknya bergabung bersama L’Arc~en~Ciel dengan cara mengirimkan demo tape kepada Sakura. Lantas Sakura pun pergi ke Osaka untuk melakukan jam session bersama mereka. Dan setelah itu ia secara resmi bergabung dengan L’Arc~en~Ciel pada 16 Januari 1993.

Album perdana

Pada tanggal 10 April 1993, album pertama mereka sebagai band indies, yang bertajuk DUNE dirilis dan meraih kesuksesan. Album tersebut berhasil meraih posisi puncak di Oricon Indies Chart (Tangga Lagu Terpopuler di Jepang) pada bulan Mei, dan hanya dalam tempo 3 bulan berhasil terjual sebanyak 20.000 keping CD. Hal tersebut membukakan kesempatan bagi mereka untuk tampil di dalam konser band-band indies “Karei naru masho” yang diadakan di Shibuya Kokaido, yang ketika itu disaksikan oleh sekitar 2000 penonton. Maka popularitas L’Arc~en~Ciel mulai berkembang tidak hanya di Osaka, namun sudah mulai merambah ke Tokyo. Dan pada bulan September 1993 mereka pindah ke Tokyo untuk meningkatkan karier mereka (meskipun Hyde tidak terlalu menyukai gagasan pindah ke Ibukota Jepang tersebut).

Memasuki label musik besar

Video single mereka Nemuri Ni Yosete dirilis pada tanggal 1 Juli 1994, menyusul dua minggu kemudian, yakni pada tanggal 14 Juli 1994 album kedua mereka TIERRA yang merupakan album pertama mereka yang berlabel major. Sekaligus juga menjadi hari pertama tur Sense of Time. Pada tanggal 9 September di tahun yang sama, mereka melawat ke Maroko dalam rangka pembuatan video Siesta ~film of dream~, yang merupakan kali pertama bagi mereka bekerja di luar Jepang, tentunya menjadi pengalaman yang sangat menyenangkan bagi mereka. Film tersebut dirilis pada akhir tahun tersebut.
Pada tanggal 21 Oktober 1994, single pertama mereka dengan Sony dirilis, dengan judul Blurry Eyes. Lagu ini dijadikan lagu tema untuk salah satu produksi serial animasi Jepang yang berjudul D.N.A^2. Kemudian pada tanggal 1 Desember di tahun tersebut Fans Klub Resmi L’Arc~en~Ciel, “CIEL” didirikan. Lalu pada awal tahun 1995, mereka mengadakan tur khusus bagi para anggota fans klub yang diberi judul Ciel/winter ‘95.
Tanggal 21 Mei 1995 merupakan tanggal di mana single video berjudul and She Said dirilis dan merupakan hari pertama dari rangkaian tur di 19 kota di Jepang yang bertajuk In Club ‘95. Dan pada 6 Juli, single kedua mereka yang berjudul Vivid Colors dirilis. Lagu tersebut menjadi lagu ending Guru Guru 99, dan side B dari lagu tersebut, Brilliant Years dijadikan lagu ending untuk acara “Shin dora” di Nippon-TV (NTV).

Heavenly

Album ketiga mereka, HEAVENLY dirilis pada tanggal 1 September 1995. Pertama kalinya album mereka masuk ke Oricon Chart (major label band) langsung di posisi ketiga. Dalam album ini sepertinya terjadi perubahan warna musik mereka dibandingkan dengan dua album sebelumnya (bisa dikatakan bahwa musikalitas mereka menjadi semakin matang). Seperti yang diungkapkan Tetsu bahwa mereka mencoba sesuatu yang berbeda dan baru dalam musik mereka.
Tur Heavenly ‘95 dimulai pada tanggal 9 September 1995, tiket untuk pertunjukkan mereka habis (full house) dalam 9 hari sejak peredarannya, bahkan pada hari terakhir tur tersebut tiket terjual habis hanya dalam tempo 28 menit saja! Pada tanggal 22 di bulan yang sama merupakan penampilan perdana mereka di Music Station, sebuah acara pertunjukkan musik nomor wahid di Jepang. Selanjutnya pada tanggal 21 Oktober 1995 single ketiga berjudul Natsu no Yuutsu dirilis. Lagu tersebut digunakan sebagai tema ending untuk acara Televisi-TBS bernama “M-Navi”.
Tanggal 27 Desember mereka mengadakan konser di Nippon Budokan, merupakan tempat yang diidam-idamkan para musisi Jepang untuk dapat tampil di sana.
Di awal tahun 1996 video live pertama L’Arc~en~Ciel, Heavenly ~films~ dirilis bersama 2 buah album foto, yakni “Heavenly X’mas” dan “Heavenly ~films~”. Pada bulan April mereka memulai tur Kiss Me Deadly ‘96. Pada saat itu fans dari kalangan cowok semakin bertambah, yang mana pada mulanya mereka lebih banyak disukai oleh para cewek. Hal tersebut tentu saja semakin meningkatkan kepercayaan diri mereka.

True

Single keempat mereka Kaze ni Kienaide (c/w I’m So Happy) yang dirilis pada tanggal 8 Juli 1996 berhasil menempati posisi keempat pada minggu pertamanya di Oricon Chart. Pada akhir bulan yang sama tur musim panas Big City Nights Round Around ‘96 dimulai, diadakan di tiga kota besar di Jepang, yakni Nagoya, Osaka, dan Tokyo.
September tanggal 20, mereka meluncurkan sebuah buku dokumentasi Artist Fact “IS” yang berisikan informasi dan fakta seputar L’Arc~en~Ciel yang disajikan secara lengkap.
Pada bulan Oktober, single kelima mereka Flower (c/w Sayonara) dirilis dan langsung mengisi posisi kelima pada minggu pertamanya di Oricon Chart. Disusul kemudian dengan single keenam mereka Lies and Truth (c/w Sai wa Nagerareta) yang langsung menempati posisi keenam di minggu pertamanya di Oricon Chart.
Tanggal 12 Desember, album keempat mereka TRUE dirilis. Merupakan album tersukses mereka selama lima tahun terakhir karier mereka, sebab pada minggu pertamanya album tersebut berhasil meraih posisi runner-up di Oricon Chart, dan pada minggu keenamnya berhasil menduduki posisi jawara. Album ini bertahan selama 9 minggu dalam daftar 10 besar di Oricon Chart. Tanggal 23 mereka memulai tur mereka yang bertajuk Carnival of True menggelar 10 konser di berbagai penjuru Jepang, diawali di Osaka Jyo Hall.

Keluarnya Sakura

Bulan April 1997 akan selalu tercatat dalam sejarah perjalanan karier L’Arc~en~Ciel sebagai masa-masa mimpi buruk. Bagaimana tidak, di tengah kegemilangan yang berhasil dicapai oleh mereka, Sakura, dengan terpaksa harus meninggalkan rekan-rekannya di L’Arc~en~Ciel setelah selama kurang lebih lima tahun bersama-sama merintis kesuksesan di pentas musik Jepang khususnya. Ia mesti rela didepak dari posisinya sebagai drummer L’Arc~en~Ciel setelah terkait dengan kasus kepemilikan serta penggunaan narkotika dan obat-obatan terlarang. Peristiwa tersebut berimbas pada pembatalan seluruh aktivitas Laruku seperti peluncuran single mereka The Fourth Avenue Cafe dan tur yang telah dijadwalkan. Bahkan semua merchandise mereka ditarik dari pasaran!
Meskipun rekan-rekan Sakura di Laruku tidak menginginkannya pergi, namun atas kehendak perusahaan rekaman dan produser, ia sejak bulan April mundur dari Laruku. “Aku sangat menyesal, aku telah melakukan hal yang sangat bodoh, dan tak pantas untuk dimaafkan. Aku tidak berhak lagi untuk tetap berada di dalam band, semua ini salahku. Aku hanya bisa mendoakan yang terbaik bagi L’Arc~en~CIel, aku berharap agar mereka tetap berjuang dan semoga semakin sukses di masa mendatang”, itulah kata-kata perpisahan yang diucapkan oleh Sakura ketika ia meninggalkan Laruku.
Yang paling terpukul dalam peristiwa ini adalah Hyde, sebab di antara rekan-rekannya yang lain ia dan Sakura merupakan sahabat yang paling dekat. Maka sejak insiden tersebut, anggota Laruku tinggal tersisa tiga orang.

Masuknya Yukihiro

Setelah kepergian Sakura, Tetsu segera mencari drummer pengganti. Suatu ketika ia mendengar Yukihiro, eks-Zi:Kill dan Die in Cries yang keduanya telah disbanded atau membubarkan diri. Tetsu tertarik dengan permainan drumnya, maka selanjutnya disusunlah rencana pendekatan oleh Tetsu. Menurut kabar yang beredar, Tetsu dan Yukihiro berkenalan lewat game Evangelion, di mana Tetsu meminta Yukihiro untuk mengajarinya permainan tersebut. Lantas Tetsu berbicara dengan Yukihiro mengenai peristiwa menyedihkan yang menimpa grup bandnya. Bak gayung bersambut, Yukihiro menawarkan bantuannya kepada Tetsu untuk proses rekaman Niji.
Akhirnya single ketujuh L’Arc~en~Ciel yang berjudul Niji—bahasa Jepang, yang memiliki arti yang sama dengan L’Arc~en~Ciel, yaitu Pelangi—dirilis pada tanggal 17 Oktober 1997. Single ini mampu menerobos posisi 3 di Oricon Chart pada minggu pertamanya. Berkaitan dengan judulnya, Hyde mengatakan bahwa judul lagu tersebut menggambarkan perjalanan karier mereka yang pada awalnya banyak dikhawatirkan orang akan segera berakhir karena masa-masa yang sangat buruk, akan tetapi kemudian mereka muncul kembali, bagaikan keindahan pelangi yang muncul di langit setelah gelapnya hujan. Dan lagu tersebut menjadi soundtrack Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) the movie.
Selama kurun waktu 1997, di Laruku, Yukihiro berperan sebagai additional player. Hingga pada 1 Januari 1998 ia secara resmi menjadi personil tetap L’Arc~en~Ciel.

Kelahiran kembali

L’Arc~en~Ciel muncul kembali secara resmi sejak tanggal 13 Desember 1997 dengan menggelar konser berjudul Reincarnation yang digelar di Tokyo Dome. Pada saat itu Laruku terdiri dari tiga orang personil resmi, yaitu Hyde (vokal), Tetsu (bass), Ken (gitar) dan satu personil tambahan (additional player/supported player) di posisi drummer, yakni Yukihiro.
Baru pada tanggal 1 Januari 1998, Yukihiro secara ofisial bergabung dengan L’Arc~en~Ciel menggantikan Sakura yang telah resmi keluar dari Laruku sejak 4 November 1997. Meskipun demikian, masuknya Yukihiro ke L’Arc~en~Ciel menciptakan suatu polemik di kalangan fans mereka, ada yang pro dengan kedatangan Yukihiro ada juga yang kontra. Memang cukup wajar seandainya masih banyak fans yang belum bisa menerima kepergian Sakura, sebab bagaimanapun juga Sakura telah menjadi bagian dari Laruku selama lima tahun yang bisa dikatakan tidak sebentar, bahkan ia turut mewarnai musik L’Arc~en~Ciel dengan style drumnya.
Akan tetapi ada satu hal yang patut dicatat, bahwa semenjak pergantian personel dari Sakura ke Yukihiro, terjadi transformasi image dari L’Arc-en-Ciel, yang semula penampilan mereka lebih bercorak visual yang kecewek-cewekan, secara bertahap berubah menjadi lebih maskulin.

Brilliant Year

Setelah insiden yang mencoreng wajah L’Arc~en~Ciel pada tahun 1997 dan pergantian personil pada awal 1998 tidak berarti mereka kehilangan penggemarnya, hal itu dibuktikan dengan habisnya 56.000 lembar tiket konser Reincarnation dalam rentang waktu hanya 4 menit! Bahkan menginjak tahun 1998 karier mereka semakin menanjak. Bisa dibilang bahwa tahun 1998 merupakan masa keemasan Laruku, di mana pada tahun tersebut hampir semua single dan album yang mereka rilis berhasil meraih kesuksesan dan berbagai penghargaan. Mereka adalah artis paling sibuk pada saat itu.
Diawali pada akhir bulan Januari dengan meluncurkan single ke delapan mereka berjudul Winter Fall yang menjadi single pertama mereka yang mampu menduduki posisi jawara di Oricon Chart. Pada tanggal 25 Februari 1998 album kelima L’Arc~en~Ciel, HEART diluncurkan, hebatnya album ini selain mampu mencapai posisi puncak Oricon Chart, angka penjualannya pun mencapai 1 juta kopi dalam minggu pertamanya! Tanggal 25 Maret, single ke sembilan Dive to Blue dirilis dan berhasil pula menapaki posisi pertama di Oricon Chart. Selanjutnya pada tanggal 22 April, video A Piece of Reincarnation diluncurkan dan lagi-lagi menjadi nomor satu di Oricon Chart selama dua minggu berturut-turut.
Tanggal 1 Mei 1998, tur Heart ni hi wo tsukero! -Light My Fire- dimulai dan berakhir tanggal 21 November, merupakan tur terpanjang L’Arc~en~Ciel dengan 56 penampilan di 43 kota berbeda di seluruh penjuru Jepang.
Tanggal 8 Juli 1998, mereka mencatatkan diri dalam sejarah musik Jepang sebagai musisi pertama yang merilis 3 buah single secara bersamaan sekaligus, yakni Honey, Shinshoku~LoseControl~, dan Kasou. Bahkan ketiganya mampu mencetak angka penjualan sebanyak 1.000.000 kopi dalam waktu singkat. Lebih hebat lagi, pada tanggal 27 Juli, Honey dan Shinshoku~lose control~ secara berurutan menempati posisi satu dan dua di Oricon Chart. Patut diketahui juga bahwa lagu Shinshoku~lose control~ merupakan salah satu original soundtrack untuk film GODZILLA yang terkompilasi dalam album OST. Godzilla khusus untuk Asia saja.
Setelah menyelesaikan tur Light My Fire, Laruku kembali merilis dua buah single, yakni Snow Drop pada tanggal 7 November dan Forbidden Lover tepat seminggu kemudian. Melalui dua single ini, lagi-lagi Laruku mencatatkan diri dalam sejarah musik Jepang sebagai musisi pertama di Jepang yang dua singlenya berhasil mencapai posisi pertama dan kedua dalam waktu bersamaan sebanyak dua kali, karena pada tanggal 26 November, Forbidden Lover berada di puncak dan Snow Drop mengikuti di posisi runner-up . Awal Desember, mereka meluncurkan benda-benda koleksi resmi L’Arc~en~Ciel seri pertama di seluruh Jepang. Kegiatan terakhir L’Arc~en~Ciel di tahun 1998 adalah peluncuran video konser Light My Fire pada tanggal 23 Desember.

Real

Tahun 2000 mereka awali dengan merilis double maxi single Neo Universe/finale pada tanggal 19 Januari, disusul kemudian Stay Away. Tanggal 20 Juni, album ECTOMORPHED WORK dirilis. Album tersebut berisikan beberapa lagu L’Arc~en~Ciel sebelumnya yang telah di-remix oleh Yukihiro (sangat menarik!) dan album selanjutnya REAL pada tanggal 20 Agustus 2000.
Tur konser Realive digelar dari bulan Oktober hingga Desember yang terbagi dalam dua sesi, yang pertama Realive Club Circuit 2000 dan yang kedua Realive Dome Tour 2000. Bedanya, pada sesi yang pertama, konser diadakan di tempat-tempat semacam klub yang hanya mampu menampung sedikit audiens dengan panggung yang relatif kecil. Sedangkan pada sesi kedua, layaknya konser-konser L’Arc~en~Ciel terdahulu, dengan penonton yang banyak dan panggung yang besar.
Memasuki tahun 2001, mereka merilis album Clicked Singles Best 13th pada tanggal 14 Maret yang merupakan kumpulan lagu-lagu terbaik L’Arc~en~Ciel berdasarkan hasil pemungutan suara (voting) yang dilakukan oleh jutaan fansnya di seluruh penjuru dunia melalui internet, plus satu single baru Anemone. Dan yang terakhir di tahun tersebut adalah peluncuran single mereka Spirit Dreams Inside (c/w Spirit Dreams Inside-another dream-) pada tanggal 9 Mei 2001 yang juga merupakan soundtrack-nya Final Fantasy The Movie (Spirits Within) dan juga termasuk ke dalam album soundtrack FF The Movie.
Setelah itu mereka mulai sibuk dengan proyek solo masing-masing. Kita dapat melihat karakter musik yang berbeda-beda dari masing-masing personil L’Arc~en~Ciel.

Solo karir masing-masing personel

Diawali oleh Tetsu yang membentuk band bernama TETSU69, pada tanggal 18 Juli 2001 menelurkan single pertamanya yang berjudul wonderful world (c/w tightrope). Disusul Shinkirou dan Fifteen a Half pada pertengahan tahun 2002. Single terakhirnya sebelum meluncurkan album perdananya yang berjudul Suite November adalah WHITE OUT.
Yukihiro tak mau ketinggalan, bersama band bentukannya Acid Android ia telah merilis dua album, acid android dan fault selain sebuah single yang berjudul ring the noise yang dijadikan soundtrack sebuah Game yang berjudul Devil May Cry.
Hyde, sang vokalis, dianggap sebagai personel Laruku yang paling sukses dalam bersolo karir. Dimulai dengan peluncuran single pertamanya berjudul evergreen, ia kemudian merilis dua single lainnya, yakni angel’s tale dan Shallow Sleep yang selanjutnya dikompilasikan dalam album yang diberi judul Roentgen dan Roentgen~english ensemble~. Belum puas juga, ia kembali melemparkan dua single Hello dan HORIZON berturut-turut pada Juni dan November 2003. Selanjutnya kedua single tersebut dapat kita temukan dalam album kedua Hyde yang berjudul 666. Tak hanya di musik, Hyde pun berhasil merambah layar lebar. Sejauh ini sudah dua judul film ia bintangi, yakni MoonChild dan Kagen no Tsuki~Last Quarter.
Ken yang mulanya adem-adem saja akhirnya tersulut juga untuk melakukan kerja solo. Ia membentuk sebuah band yang dinamakannya Sons of All Pussys atau sering disingkat menjadi S.O.A.P. Yang menarik, dalam band tersebut, Ken kembali reuni-an dengan Sakura, eks-drummer L’Arc~en~Ciel. Bersama S.O.A.P, dari sejak Februari 2002 hingga Juli 2004, ia sudah mengeluarkan tiga mini album, di antaranya GRACE, gimme A guitar, dan high serta sebuah single yang judulnya Paradise.

Kembalinya L’Arc~en~Ciel & debut konser di AS

Setelah vakum selama tiga tahun dengan spekulasi tentang kemungkinan bubarnya band ini, L’Arc~en~Ciel mengejutkan fans mereka dengan mengumumkan sebuah seri dari tujuh konser yang diberi judul Shibuya Seven Days, yang diikuti dengan perilisan single baru mereka. Berada di peringkat atas tangga lagu dan dipakai sebagai lagu pembuka animasi Fullmetal Alchemist, READY STEADY GO dijual di bulan Februari 2004. Mengikuti perilisan single berikutnya, L’Arc~en~Ciel kemudian merilis album yang banyak ditunggu-tunggu, SMILE, pada tanggal 31 Maret.
Tanggal 31 July 2004 L’Arc~en~Ciel hadir sebagai bintang tamu di hadapan 12,000 orang penonton pada acara konvensi anime Otakon yag diadakan di Baltimore, Maryland. Ini merupakan penampilan pertama band ini di USA. Melihat respons yang luar biasa dari para fans, Tofu Records, label Sony Music Jepang di Amerika menandatangani kontrak dengan band ini di bulan Mei 2005 dan merilis sebuah DVD untuk debut live mereka di Amerika Utara.
Mengikuti dirilisnya beberapa single dan sebuah album baru, AWAKE di 2005, band ini kemudian mengadakan tur Jepang sebelum memulai tur ASIA LIVE 2005, yang membawa band ini ke Seoul di Korea dan Shanghai di Cina. Sebelu kembali ke Tokyo untuk dua pertunjukan utama.
Setelah menutup tur mereka, perhatian para anggota band ini kembali terfokus pada kegiatan kegiatan solo mereka. tetsu merekam beberapa single dan sebuah album dengan Creature Creature. Serta merilis sebuah single atas nama dirinya sendiri. Sementara yukihiro kembali pada acid android dan merilis sebuah single. Kemudian ia beserta acid android menyertai MUCC dalam dua petunjukan di Shanghai. hyde menggubah lagu Glamorous Sky untuk film yang diangkat dari manga NANA dan dinyanyikan oleh Mika Nakashima. Ia juga merilis dua single dan album lain berjudul FAITH, yang membawanya dalam tur panjang di Jepang serta mengadakan pertunjukan di California. Terakhir dalam masa vakum band ini, ken merilis sebuah single solo, Speed.
Pada tanggal 25 November dan 26th, 2006, L’Arc-en-Ciel menggelar dua konser di Tokyo Dome, untuk merayakan ulang tahun mereka ke 15. Berjudul L’Anniversary. Tiket tersebut terjual hanya dalam kurun waktu 2 menit , mengalahkan rekor penjualan tiket mereka sebelumnya.Sebuah jajak pendapat telah dibuat pada website resmi selama seminggu sebelum konser yang mengizinkan para fans untuk memilih lagu yang mereka ingin dengar di acara itu.Konser tersebut kemudian ditampilkan pada saluran WOWOW pada 23 Desember 2006. Dan juga disiarkan pada 8 Februari 2007 di MTV Korea.
L’Arc-en-Ciel kemudian merekam lagu “Shine” yang akan digunakan sebagai lagu pembuka untuk anime yang akan disiarkan di NHK, Guardian of the Spirit.Mereka Menggelar Mata Heart Ni Hi Wo Tsukero 2007 Tour di Jepang.L’Arc-en-Ciel merilis single Seventh Heaven pada 30 Mei 2007, yang menjadi posisi teratas di Oricon charts.Lagu My Heart draws a Dream, yang digunakan dalam iklan mobil Subaru, dirilis 29 Agustus, 2007, dan lagu tersebut langsung menempati tangga teratas pada Oricon charts.Lagu Daybreak’s Bell yang dirilis pada 10 Oktober 2007,digunakan sebagai Soundtrack pembuka untuk anime Mobile Suit Gundam 00.dan kembali menduduki peringkat teratas dalam Oricon Charts.Sejak dari 14 November ke 25 Desember 2007, dirilislah Hurry Xmas, bersamaan dengan dua DVD baru yang keluar pada bulan September dan Desember, yang berjudul 15th L’Anniversary Live and Chronicle 3 respectively.Album terbaru mereka Kiss, dirilis pada 21 November 2007, menduduki tangga lagu pertama di posisi nomor satu di Oricon chart.
L’Arc~en~Ciel mengadakan tur yang bernama “Theater of Kiss Tour”.yang diselenggarakan pada 22 Desember 2007 sampai 17 Februari 2008.lagu Drink it Down,digunakan sebagai lagu pembuka versi Jepang untuk game PS3/Xbox 360 Devil May Cry 4.telah dirilis sebagai single pada 2 April 2008, dan menduduki tempat teratas di Oricon weekly charts.

Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says: “And the believing men and the believing women are protecting friends to one another. THEY COMMAND WHAT IS RIGHT AND FORBID WHAT IS WRONG AND THEY ESTABLISH THE SALAH AND PRODUCE THE ZAKAH AND THEY OBEY ALLAH AND HIS MESSENGER.” (9:71)

Now what more of a friend do you want than that? Subhan’Allah. The kind of friendship we had in mind is nothing like the friendship Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala wants. “…They command what is right and forbid what is wrong..” Who from our friends do we find doing this? Any? If not few… The kind of friendship I see people having is actually quite the opposite. I see people laugh at the wrong, and ignore what is right.

Rarely if not never, have I seen a friend tell another friend. “Sister/Brother fear Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala for what you are doing is haram.” Just how much do our friends affect us? Here is a hadith to find out…

The Prophet peace be upon him said: “The example of a good friend and a bad friend is like the seller of Musk (perfume) and the blacksmith. If you go to the seller of perfume, you will either leave (happy) buying perfume, or you will leave will the smell of the musk. And if you stand by the blacksmith you will burn your clothes, or you will leave with the *smell of* the stink of his work.”

So when you are with the good friend you will learn from him, or some of his goodness will rub off on you. *leaving you relaxed* While when you are with the bad friend, you will be like him, or you will leave with some of his bad habits. Sadly, we are missing out on the true friendship. But that’s not even the worst part; the worse thing is that most Muslims would rather have the company of non Muslims instead of their brother/sister in Islam. Nevertheless Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala’s advice that we should prefer people of like mind to ourselves over non believers is crystal clear:

“Let not the believers take the unbelievers as Auliya (supporters, friends, helpers) instead of the believers, and whoever does that will never be helped by Allah in any way, except if you indeed fear a danger from them.” (3:28)

May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala guide us all.

So as for the believing men and woman who command each other with good, and forbid the bad, they will have a great reward in the hereafter, and they will be thanking each other in Jannah, insha’Allah. But as for the men and woman, whose friendship is only based on worldly matters, those so-called friends who laugh and encourage each other when they do wrong, and take faith as a joke, for them is a painful torment.

Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala warns the Muslims against such friendships… “On the day when the wrongdoer will bite upon his hands (from regret), he will say, ‘O would that I had taken a path with the Messenger, O Woe to me! Would that I had never taken so-and-so as an intimate friend; he certainly lead me astray from the remembrance after it had come to me and Shaytan (Satan) is to man ever a deserter in the hour of need” (25:27-30)

Subhan Allah, they will be the best of friends in this world, but in the hereafter they will be the worst of enemies to eachother. In the hellfire, one will call to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and say “Oh Allah, this person (the friend from the world) took me by my hand to the haram, Ya Allah… Ya Allah… Double his punishment! And curse him with a mighty curse! Subhan Allah!! How painful the hellfire, and yet that person is still wishing it to be worse for his friend (from the world). But then Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala will double BOTH their punishments…

Subhan Allah, see these ‘friends’ they weren’t really friends in the world, and as you can see they won’t be friends in the hereafter. Now it is your turn to decide, you can either command your friends with the good, and forbid the evil, which may not be very easy, but your friend will thank you for it in Jannah, or would you rather be from those who bite their hands from regret….Be careful when choosing your friends…

May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala make us from those who hear the advice and put it into action!

And inside the bus we watch a sudden gust kick up said dust and a familiar musk and everything the color of rust in the bus.

This is just us on the bus as we cuss at the husk of the lives we left back in the city all black that we’ll never ever see ’cause now it’s you and me.
Just us on the bus thinking about the husk as we roll cross the rust colored dust in the bus.

The Body Shop has been synonymous with bio-friendly products to me always…very representative of the scents of nature in their natural form rather. While bio-friendly might be the wrong term to use…I’d lean more towards nature. Because TBS products introduced me to the world of fragrances especially through neroli, musk and cherryblossom.

I absolutely love their products and always try to buy them every time I get a chance. Like the last time I bought TBS lotions was during my trip to Dubai…and recently a very good friend of mine gifted me this cute pouch of TBS White Musk products that included a eau  de toilette.

White Musk is the latest product in their collections and I consider it to be the ultimate representation of musk fragrance. The products are long-lasting (for me they lasted beyond 24 hours infact) and bring this whole tone of freshness and pleasantness to the wearer.

Onto White Musk…the first note that hits you and the last note that stays with you is White Musk…its predominantly based on White Musk which is used in the top, middle and base notes. Apart from that you get a teeny whiff of neroli and Jasmine too. I couldn’t decipher the other notes though…so here they are:

• Top Notes – White musk, lily, ylang ylang with hints of galbanum and basil
• Middle Notes – White musk, lily, rose and oriental jasmine (i’m assuming the white Indian Jasmine here)
• Base Notes – White musk, oriental jasmine, lily, iris, rose, vanilla, amber, patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver and fruity peach

But musk dominates all the notes followed by lily and jasmine…atleast that is what it seemed to me. Shouldn’t say this…but wearing this perfume reminded me of the Mediterranean waters as depicted in the movie “Mamma Mia!” and I can’t really fathom the reason . This fragrance is a must have in every musk lover’s collection…and can be used both for day n evening wear.
