This is Ginger.  She is about 2-3 years old.  I am trying to help her get into a rescue before she is euthanized.

She was brought to the Joplin, MO Humane Society a couple months ago.  For anyone familiar with this humane society there are some great ladies who run Golden paw pet resort near the shelter.  They let the shelter bring over any dogs to hold when they have possible rescue commitments or are pregnant and in danger of being euthanized because of space – no charge.

She was brought to Golden paw because she was about to have her babies.  All her babies died.  In the next month after that, 2 other mammas had litters and each had such large litters that Ginger helped nurse and take care of the babies from both litters.  The girls at golden paw have been hiding Ginger by marking her kennal card “adopted, will be picked up next week” so that when the shelter comes to pick up dogs and move them back to the shelter she doesn’t get taken.

Today the shelter manager was let go and instructions were given at the shelter for the shelter to be cleared out,

dogs are to be gassed.

Victoria who works at Golden paws has been so good at helping me get dogs out, driving them to KC for rescue and holding them for me that she is just sick that Ginger is going to be taken back to the shelter and put down.  She is such a sweet, happy girl.  Can you send this out to any of your groups that would help with her?

I doubt she is spayed yet but I will get that done if she gets a good home or rescue.  She is up to date on her vaccs and bordatella.  There are both men and women working at golden paws and she just wants everyone to pet her.  She is not particular about who.  A lot of the babies born at this shelter dont make it.  They are exposed to so many things and just are to little to survive.  That would be great if someone would post her at Camp Bow Wow or even on petfinder.  Myself and/or Victoria at golden paws would be contact for her.  I would rather not post her on craigslist as that scares me.  Thanks for any help with her.  She really is a very sweet girl.  Her problem at the shelter is that she is “just a brown mix dog”.  Usually one of the first to be put down as this shelter gets a lot of purebreds.

Being the dog that I am, I resent this “new age” of specialty dogs. Ok my mom kinda had a thing for the bad boy of the neighborhood, you know the kind, a shepherd/ wolf mix, and but even with her being a Shar Pei and pure blood at that, I wasn’t worth much, free actually.

I recently noticed the pet shops are full of “designer” dogs from puppy mills. There are the Bich-Poo (Bichon Frise/Poodle), or Chiweenies (Chihuahua/Dashund). These dogs are really just mutts like me, but they sell for $400 or more. Kinda makes me feel like I am from the wrong side of the tracks or something. No I wasn’t sired by design, but really, you cant tell me that a backyard breeder who happens to have a Poodle and a friend who has a Yorkie,that they “designed” the pups from that encounter, which makes it a Porkie, and that pup gets sold for several hundred bucks. And what about those advertised as “Teacup” breeds? There is no such thing as a Teacup breed..its a bogus move to make people spend upward of a $1000 to own one. Those poor little itsy bitsy puppies are the runts of the liter, with many health problems from poor breeding habits.

Backyard breeders/puppy mills will do anything to get your money, and the “cuteness” factor is one of the biggest draws. There was an ad for a Beagapoo (Beagle/Poodle) on the web for $350. Yeah it sure is cute when its 6 weeks old, but what happens when you have spent that kind of money and at 8 months old he eats your camera, or the arm of your favorite chair…not so cute anymore. And what about those that claim they have “silver”labs for sale and want over $700 for them? There is no such thing as a silver lab, its a cross between a Weimaraner and Lab, yes just another mutt. The AKC wont acknowledge them, even if the seller gives you papers. Those papers arent worth anything, so you might as well use it to help potty trian the newcomer to your home.

Its to bad many in our society today is obsessed with cuteness, or wanting to be super special in the eyes of others cause they have a “designer” dog. And dressing them up is even worse. There are tons of dollars spent to outfit these little creatures so the owner can look cool. Maybe they need to spend a day at the shelter to see all the other “designer” dogs, people got tired of, or the cuteness wore off, or the dogs that were bought for their kids, arent wanted anymore.

Owning a pet is a lifetime responsibility. You need to love, and care for that dog or cat for its whole life. It is a living breathing thing. It has feelings, and needs love and compassion. You need to be able to pay for the vet bills, the food, and mostly you need to give it your time. Your time to train them, to guide them,to teach them how to be good in society. Please people dont buy that pet cause its cute, or it will make you look cool, cause chances are in a few years you wont even remeber it. It will be gathering dust in the corner or back yard as you neglect it.

Just look at all the neglected and abused animals out there, look in your local shelter and see all those sad faces of those who thought they had a good home, but for whatever reason the owners didnt want them any more. What about those abused cause the owner didnt take time to train it and it pooped in the house.. We dont come with instructions, and need lots of training to be the good pet you want.

Being the dog that I am, please think long and hard about getting a pet, think about 5,10, and 15 years from now and how you will take care of your new pet. It will give you every ounce of love plus some back if you take care of it. Just say no to backyard breeders and puppy mills. Visit your local shelter and I bet you will find the best pet you can find anywhere.

This is Bucko. He is my dog and he is absolutely amazing. I have never met a cooler, sweeter, smarter pooch. Bucko is spoiled-fucking-rotton and has it better than any human child I know. I took this photo of him in Point Reyes a few weeks ago.

Bucko snuggles on command, which especially comes in handy when I’m not feeling well or feeling blue. He is the best.

A GRANDMOTHER whose Lakeland Terrier ripped open a five year-old boy’s face has been ordered to pay him £350 compensation.

SCARRED: Youngster Andrew Osborne was bitten by a dog

Little Andrew Osborne was playing with his twin brother outside his Midlothian house when he was savagely attacked in May.

The tot was knocked over as the dog leapt up and sunk its teeth through his right cheek, leaving him streaming with blood.

He needed three operations and 34 stitches after the horror attack, and is expected to be scarred for life.

Dog owner Frieda Lang said she knew nothing of the attack until police arrived at her door.

As cops questioned her, the 67 year-old realised the gate to her home had been left open and accepted that her eight year-old dog, Pip, was to blame.

She told police she wanted the dog “put to sleep” immediately.

Today (Thurs) Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard she was “considerably contrite and remorseful” over the attack.

She said her son had left the gate open on the day of the attack.

But, as the owner of the dog, she accepted it was her responsibility.

As well as paying compensation and a £200 fine, Lang was banned for three years from having a dog.

Last month the pensioner admitted one charge of letting her dog get dangerously out of control.

Fiscal depute Sally Craig told of how Andrew’s mum Barbara heard “screaming” from outside their home in Mayfield, Midlothian, on May 19.

The prosecutor said: “Andrew Osbourne was playing outside his home with his brothers.

“They saw a dog which they recognised and knew was called Pip.

“The dog was running towards Andrew and barked before jumping up at him.

“It bit him on the right cheek causing deep open wounds and lacerations to his mouth and face.

“His brother was frightened and tried to grab the dog’s collar.

“Andrew was screaming and there was blood gushing from his mouth.

“His mother came out of the home and saw her son screaming and put a towel over his wounds.”

The tot was rushed to Edinburgh’s Sick Kids Hospital for emergency surgery.

Miss Craig added: “The stitches were taken out on May 26, although there is some concern there will be long-term scarring.”

Mrs Laing, who lives in Mayfield with her husband, arranged for her dog to be put down later that day.

Her defence agent Andrew Gilbertson said the dog had “no previous convictions.”

He said: “Mrs Lang is considerably contrite and remorseful, the dog having been put down the same day.

“The dog was the family pet and slept in a basket under the kitchen table.

“On the date in question her son was working in the garden greenhouse and he left the door open.

“Thereafter, he didn’t shut the gate and the dog went out.

“There was no suggestion that the dog had previous convictions or was anything for anyone to worry about.

“The little boy is of course entitled to criminal injury compensation.”

Sheriff Neil MacKinnnon told the pensioner: “Mrs Lang, this is a serious matter.

“However, I am impressed by the remorse you have expressed in the dock and will restrict the monetary penalty to £200.”

‘Nubs: The True Story of a Mutt, a Marine & a Miracle’ – Paw Nation.

Vande Mataram from Bankim Chandra Chattopadyaya’s “Anand Mutt” is India’s national song.

The Song sung by Lata Mangeshkar (Music Director Hemant Kumar Mukhopadyaya)  is captured here:

“Vande Mataram” was the Mantra, reciting which numerous Indians from Punjab to Tamilnadu braved death and fought the British occupation. Composed in simple Sanskrit, this is a national song of India and any day most nationalist Indians rate this song above “Jana Gana Mana”, a song penned by Tagore welcoming British King George as “Bharata Bhagya Vidhaata-Arbitrator of India’s Destiny”.

The Islamist veto and the nehruvian appeasement of islamism prevented “Vande Matharam” from becoming the National Anthem of India. And in a remarkable parody of History, Indians have a song, sung first welcoming a foreign dignitary, as the national anthem. nehru as the first prime minister of India did enormous damage to the soul of India. nehru’s foot prints can be seen in most of India’s social, economic, defence and foreign affairs problems.

One can not help noticing the superiority of this composition of “Vande Mataram”, the complete one, to the subsequent subversion efforts (subverted islamised one) by the likes of Slumdog A R Rehman, which in comparison to the original version appear trite. Later compositions on account of composer’s poor knowledge of Sanskrit and Indian culture could never reproduce the spirit and magic of Bankimda’s immortal work.

Why Islamists oppose the song?

Yesterday Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind resolution endorsed Deoband, Dar-ul-Uloom’s fatwa against  singing Vande Mataram, India’s national song.

Central reason of muslim hostility to the song is islamist opposition to blend with natives,  islamist hatred of native Indian traditons.

One may notice that islamists dont seem to have qualms at all on Jana Gana Mana, where English Emperor George V is addressed as Bharata Bhagya Vidata (Arbitrator of India’s destiny). So the issue is as much political as it is an assertion of islamist exclusivity.

One need not blame Maulana Madani, Jamaat leader, who is straight with his position unlike the sickular crowd.  Madani referred explicitly to Indian muslims following mohummad’s Hudaibiya precedent. (islam’s founder mohommad led a strategic retreat in Mecca without integrating with native Quresh, who were stronger, and waited for an appropriate moment to strike for islam and extinguish native Arab beliefs). Sickularism in India is a tool for islamists to persist with Hudabiya type strategy.

Those who eulogise so called muslim moderates like Syed Ahmed Khan, Maulana Mohummad Ali, and Jamaat as a moderate organizations are guilty of deliberate deceit.

Above assertion holds as Syed ahmed khan indeed peddled deceit – asserting that he belonged to two equal circles – one Indian, one islamic, and then collaborated with the British for waxing of one (islam) and waning the second (native indian); just as muslims today collaborate with sickular/communist deceits.

Jamaat, Maulana Maududi and others similarly opposed partition not because of nationalist credentials, as Congress I (islami-isai) deceits would have one believe, but because of the concern that division of India, would slow down the wider islamist millennium old project to take over India, cut down native beliefs/traditions.

What should be done?

Unfortunately there are no easy solutions.

It is quite clear that coercive dogmatic islamist undermining of national unity can be faced only by coercive efforts by the state. Sarcozy was left with no option but to ban burqa in the interest of French society, its native tradition, their well being.

In India, articles 25-30 which have been used to empower totalitarian xianity/islam have to go. In India, we have a situation wherein all the rights, privileges and prerogatives belong to the minorities and the native Indians are left holding the duties, responsibilities and obligations. Natives as we know in India cant set up education institutions to propagate their values/heritage. And native places of worship alone get regulated by the hostile government, their resources abused/looted. This perverse situation does not exist anywhere else in the world.

Conclusion:

Failure to address islamist vote bank politics, encouraged and nurtured by congress I (islami-isai), communist boot leggers will have enormous costs for India, its unity and in specific for followers of native Indian faiths – Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists.

Tailpiece 1:

Some Tagorists are in a state of denial that Tagore did not  eulogise George V thru Jana Gana Mana. Evidence is too strong on the context of Jana Gana Mana creation as eulogy to King George; and its timing – it was first publically sung welcoming british emperor; media carried reports to that effect (see next para); Tagore as long as he lived, never publically denied these reports show the correct position. ZIM believes that Tagore’s greatness as a poet is in no way diminished by the evidence that Jana Gana Mana was created by him as a eulogy to King George. Those were perceived by many as the halcyon days of the Raj. Another give away is that in native Indian tradition, Nation is looked at as a mother that nurtures. Tagore himself in Amar Sonar Bangla, refers to Bengal as Nurturing Mother.

Come vi avevo promesso ecco il post sulla configurazione di Mutt e Fetchmail per ricevere e spedire email. Ipotizziamo che io mi chiami Tullo Ostilio e abbia due indirizzi email, uno su Tiscali (POP3) e uno su GMail (IMAP). Ma vediamo la configurazione di Fetchmail e Mutt (Fetchmail scarica la posta, Mutt la legge).

Un minimo di conoscenza del funzionamento delle email non guasterebbe, comunque sappiamo almeno che il server POP (e IMAP in alcuni casi) viene utilizzato per ricevere la posta, mentre il server SMTP viene usato per inviare la posta. Dobbiamo inostre conoscere il valore da inserire per POP3 e SMTP.

Qualunque procedura abbiate seguito dobbiamo ora dare i giusti permessi al file .fetchmailrc:

Adesso scarichiamo la posta col comando:
$ fetchmail
ci sono anche varie opzioni, ad esempio se volete attivare il demone di fetchmail e fargli scaricare la posta ogni ora (3600 secondi) diamo questo comando:
$ fetchmail -d 3600
per far si che la posta venga scaricata ma ne rimanga una copia sul server date il comando:
$ fetchmail -k
Scrivete:
$ man fetchmail
per conoscere le altre opzioni.

Possiamo anche utilizzare cron per automatizzare il tutto.

MUTT – Adesso vediamo come utilizzare Mutt, un programma leggero e potente che usiamo semplicemente dal terminale. Ovviamente meglio leggersi una guida ben fatta, qui espongo solo parzialmente e superficialmente alcuni punti.

Avviando per la prima volta Mutt, questo creera’ la directory Mail nella nostra home. Ora dobbiamo modificare (o creare) il file di configurazione di mutt.
$ nano /home/tullio/.muttrc
che piu’ o meno conterra’ qualcosa di questo tipo:

Con Mutt e’ possibile inviare e ricevere posta con GMail via terminale (tramite Fetchmail). Per farlo occorre installare i pacchetti che ci servono (oltre a quelli soliti): gsasl e libsasl2-modules-gssapi-mit (se non ricordo male).

Ora eseguite mutt da terminale:
$ mutt
poi modificate il file ~/.muttrc:
$ nano ~/.muttrc
scrivendo queste righe (modificate in base ai vostri dati):

State attenti perche’ in questo file c’e’ la vostra password di GMail, quindi date un:
$ chmod 700 .muttrc
per impedire agli altri utenti di leggere il file.

Oltre ai pacchetti che ho indicato sopra, sono necessari anche sendmail, procmail, fetchmail, ma di solito sono gia’ presenti nella nostra distribuzione GNU/Linux. Magari prossimamente cerchero’ di fare un post con una guida passo a passo sulla configurazione di Fetchmail e Mutt.

Kelly and I found this dog hanging out at Briery Lake sleeping under a car in the parking lot.  She looked a little thin so we fed her our potato chips from lunch.  She wasn’t skittish and was very gentle in taking the chips from Kelly.  It’s never easy to leave these dogs behind, but she made it easy on us by sprawling out ever so comfortably in the middle of the warm parking lot and taking a nap.

Tipper and Jacob

Tipper came to live with us just over a month ago.  We don’t know what he was called during his former life in Louisiana.  Like so many other dogs, Hurricane Katrina forced Tipper to adapt to a new name, unfamiliar humans, and an unknown environment (while undergoing treatment for heartworm disease).  Tipper is the definition of adaptable, and he came through all this change with flying colors and a big ‘ole smile on his face.  He’s a big beefy mutt- likely the result of a Doberman and Shepherd rendezvous.  His tail is jet-black with a white tip (thus the name Tipper) and never quits wagging.  My son Jacob, then an undergrad at Colorado State University, signed up to adopt a Katrina rescue dog.  He was paired with Tipper (a match made in heaven) and the two have been inseparable, up until now that is.

Jacob graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife biology and minors in Spanish and conservation (can you sense a mama bragging here).  He is now off in Guatemala studying jaguars.  He figured he could trust his two parents, both veterinarians, to take care of his dog.  So now Tipper has become part of our canine trio enjoying the life of a country dog. In addition to goats, and horses (and horse manure), and deer, and cats, and foxes, and wild turkeys, Tip’s experienced some unexpected mishaps during his short stay with “grandma” and “grandpa”.  

Week one:  It’s foxtail season here in California, and one of these annoying plant awns landed deep in Tipper’s ear canal resulting in furious head shaking. Using an otoscope and a special type of instrument called an “alligator forceps” I fished the foxtail out of his ear canal. Tipper and his eardrum were immediately relieved. Problem solved. 

Week two:  Over the course of a few hours, Tipper vomited six times and his face swelled to the point of his eyes being closed.  Poor boy must have ingested or been stung or bitten by an insect or spider resulting in a severe allergic reaction.  Some antihistamine and TLC were administered and, within 24 hours, Tip was good as new.  Problem solved. 

Week three (at dusk):  Tipper came scampering into the house with his eyes at half-mast and reeking of “Eau de Skunk.”  Clearly, the little black and white critter took good aim and hit poor Tipper right between the eyes.  Fortunately, Nellie and Quinn, his two partners in crime managed to avoid the skunk- they’ve learned from past mistakes.  Tipper received eye ointment and his first California baths.  Problem solved (although he still smells a bit skunky). 

Week four:  One minute the dogs were ripping around the horse pasture, the next minute Tipper was three-legged lame.  Manipulation of his affected leg revealed a torn ligament in his knee. Tip’s going to need to have surgery followed by a couple of months of rehabilitation therapy.  Problem will be solved. 

I hate to think what week five holds in store……………

I have had dogs my whole life, purebreads and mutts.  When it comes down to it niether one is better than the other.  It all depends on what your looking for in a dog.  I have a boston terrier pitt bull mix that is 4 years old and she has quite an attitude, she can be very stubborn at times, and she loves to run off whenever she gets the chance.  I also have a beagle hound mix, he is the most well behaved dog i have ever had, i never have to put him on a leash and he never messes in the house.

Growing up as a child I had pure bread dogs.  My first, a doberman, was wonderful, always gentle and careful around me, but at the same time very protective of me.  He was incredibly intelligent as well.  The second, a plott hound was the clumsiest dumbest dog i have ever had, very protective yes, but very stubborn.

When it comes down to it which is better a mutt or a pure bread?  Well one thing to take into consideration is what breed or breeds of dog you are looking for, for example, my boston terrier pitt mix shows a lot of traits from both breeds as well as my beagle hound mix.  So is a mutt really better than a pure bread dog.  No, its all a matter of what breed or breeds your dog is as to how how it behaves.

Casanova is the name of the dog who sits outside our front door during dinner. He is the dog who lives in our little compound of 8 homes. I assume he was a mutt pulled from the streets but he has the gentle eyes of a pooch looking for love.

He forages for food and scrounges for love. His ticks and fleas force him to scratch frantically day and night. He sleeps curled in a tidy ball behind one of the houses, waiting for day light and sniffing for crumbs trailed by the split rubbish bags.

One sunny day, when the sun beat fiercely upon the hot red dirt, we delivered some bones purchased from the “God Loves You Butcher” up the road. They came in a black bag, heavy, with a warmth and moistness I could sense. Trooper and Princess were thrilled to tip the messy coil of innards and bones onto the ground and Casanova, eyes bulging and face spread into a surprised grin, couldn’t believe his luck. Due to the intense sun I was happy not to carry these left over bits of carcass around in the tank of steel, known as Beast all day,

Casanova howls when we come home. He runs beside the car and looks hopefully at us. He gently approaches us when we sit outside. He is not our dog but slowly he is slipping under our skin. His eyes speak of a love scared to speak and rarely delivered,

Jedi & a few of the BMX J@M crew are flying south for the EDH Local Assault Jam in Christchurch on November 7… flying ex AK on the 5th so they can catch a sweet jam down at the new park there on the 6th & migrating back north on Monday the 9th after a private dirt jam… the crew is on its first mission of the spring & the new season!!!
