Buzzd won best new startup for 2007.  The community allows you to see what’s happening in your local area and allows feedback on wheather the venue is happening/crack’n or not.  It also allows Shout Outs to your peeps so you can tell them what you are up to.

Auf dem Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona, dem Nachfolger der 3GSM, stand vor allem die neue Mobilfunk-Plattform von Google, Android, im Blickpunkt. Dieses Video zeigt die Oberfläche im Detail.

Im Gegensatz zu manchen Beobachtern (etwa Astrid Eishofer vom Kurier) finde ich, dass die Bedienung (zumindest im Vergleich zum iPhone) kompliziert aussieht. Was mich beeindruckt, ist die enorme Geschwindigkeit, die bereits auf diesem Prototypen von Texas Instruments (mit einem OMAP-3-Chip) erzielt wird. Ein Kollege, der mit dem Produktmanager von TI gesprochen hat, sagte mir, dass der Mann selbst mit einem iPhone telefoniert.

Microsoft hat den MWC 2008 geschickt genutzt, um mit einem hübsch designten Gerät von Sony Ericsson die Aufmerksamkeit auf Windows Mobile 6 zu lenken. Das Slider-Handy XPERIA X1 sieht edel aus und glänzt mit technischen Features: UMTS mit Beschleuniger HSDPA (Download) und HSUPA (Upload), WLAN, aGPS-Empfänger, Touchscreen mit 800 mal 480 Punkten Auflösung. Für meinen Geschmack ist das Windows Mobile, das unter der bunten Oberfläche von Sony Ericsson werkelt, immer noch viel zu kompliziert. Dennoch kann man das X1 durchaus als Highlight des MWC 2008 bewerten.

Update: Nach Screenshots von Terminal.hu läuft das XPERIA X1 unter Windows 6.1. Außerdem wissen wir nun, dass in dem Gerät eine Qualcomm 7200A CPU (528 MHz) steckt sowie 128MB RAM und ein dicker 1500-mAh-Akku.

Tout ça pour dire que les constructeurs, après la pub, les goodies… essayent aussi de se démarquer avec de jolies hôtesses (notamment les entreprises asiatiques) pour attirer le plus de visiteurs possibles et gagner en visibilité. Cette année, mention spéciale à Nvidia, CSR et LG

Voici une petite photo de quelques goodies que j’ai obtenu durant les 2 premiers jours du MWC 2008. Comme vous pouvez le voir, le choix est assez varié (Clé USB, Bonbons, Gateaux, Crayons, Ecouteurs…) et les entreprises ici aussi essayent de se démarquer. A noter qu’il existe 2 types de goodies, les goodies pour visiteurs et ceux pour journalistes qui sont en général bien mieux et plus élaborés (hélas, je n’y ai pas droit T–T)

I arrived on Sat AM in BCN, totally jet lagged but excited. I think the only thing that kept me going on the first day were the Cafes con Leche and tabacco. My client CELL got a really cool apt in the Born district, the Picasso Museum, marina and beach are very close by. The trendiest restaurants in the city are here as well. Sat night some of the team made it from Japan and LA so we met up with Jose and Iris, Bus Dev at Kyte.TV, for dinner and drinks.

Sunday was great, I woke up still feeling the effects of the wonderful Rioja from the night before. MobileMonday had a little gathering before the MobileSunday event from Mystrands. At the mixer I met some old friends and made some new ones. The big take away from tonight, besides having a lovely Austrian buy my a beer, is that I finally got to meet the Facebook Mobile team, Jed and team seem like a good crowd. After a while we left the mixer to get some great tapas

I look forward to the MobileMonday Peer Awards event tonight.
