Atmosphere recently launched the kulula beach index for kulula.com. We worked with a freelance economist to figure out the cheapest beach destinations in South Africa – just in time for the summer holiday season. To get the figures we looked at the price of fish & chips amongst other typical holiday costs for a family of four. Stillbaai in the Western Cape came out as the cheapest and Camps Bay in Cape Town (maybe not surpisingly) came out as most expensive. The activity was designed to draw attention to kulula holidays the travel portal of kulula.com (which is mostly known as an airline brand). Coverage has appeared in the Daily News, Weekend Witness, Weekend Argus, Business Report and iafrica amongst other places. Considering the costs were minimal in putting it together I think this makes it a nice little PR idea.

I spent Friday evening working at the very last ghd style lounge in Cape Town. The ghd style lounge is a pop-up salon that we’ve been touring around Joburg, Durban and Cape Town over the last few weeks. The idea is consumers register at a microsite www.ghdstylediary.co.za and we choose a limited number of winners to attend with four friends. They get a makeover from a ghd expert, make-up from our partners on the event Benefit and a play with a self-portrait shooting photo booth. This was the second year we’ve run the event and the reaction both in terms of applications to attend and media coverage has been great. Sad to say however this is the last time we’ll run it in its current for. However very excited about the new incarnation under a different name and with a fairytale theme to match the new ad direction. Special thanks to Hammer Live Brands who brought the events to life and found some amazing spaces to use.

Im beginning to play with colors and skin here. at this point I am starting to develop the dollish style i wanted each photo to have, to emphasize that these models are canvases to display these tattoos since the tattoos are not actually on the models but rather a portfolio on display. Ill be adding a pattern behind and I’m thinking of adding a checkered floor beneath her?….. just an idea. This is a progression of how i got to the current version,

- Get the look- Smoked Emerald

If you are going for colour this party season Try going green! Think about your colourings when selecting a tone. Green looks beautiful on brunettes and red heads it sits nicely on caucasian asian and black skin tones.

Sea greens make blue eyes look aqua ( I am in love with MAC’s limited edition Mineralize Eye Shadow Blue Sorcery). An intense forest green (eg Rimmel colour rush in envy) intensifies the green in hazel eyes, and lime (Illamasqua powder eye shadow in Dare) will highligh the warm amber tones in brown eyes. I have used a bold stunning emmerald for the shot but if you want to try some thing muted try Bobbi Brown’s Sage, Be brave and give green a go!

To create this look on Hollie @ IMG Models London I applied Estee Lauder Double Wear Cream Shadow in Precious Jade with a firm brush over the entire eye lid. This is a great olive base which boasts 15 hours wear. I blended in to the socket line with my fingers and softened this by sweeping Bobbi Brown Wheat eye shadow from the socket line out .

I used MAC pigment in Emerald green over the top. This super opulent pearlised shade is true emerald. it has strong pigment and tiny little sparkle running through - Gorgeous! I lined the the eyes heavily with MAC Smoulder liner into the water line all the way into the inner corner of the eye and around the top and bottom lash lines, I then blended the pencil liner with a small liner brush. I intensified the sparkle by dabbing a finger tip of MAC Reflects Gold into the inner corner of the eye.

The eyes are finished off by curling the lashes and 2 coats of YSL mascara Volume effet faux cils.

I wiped away any drop from the eye shadow with a wet face wipe and applied Giorgio Armani foundation designer shaping cream foundation to Hollie’s skin using a foundation brush to get a perfect porcelain effect. I finished off the skin with a sweep of subtle nude blush.

For the lips I used a suptle coat of Clinique’s Superbalm Moisturising Gloss in apricot- delicious!

If you are daring enough to go all the way with this look I attached Swarovski Crystalised Green flat back, fancy stones by dotting a small amount of Duo glue (eyelash glue) in the centre of each stone (dont use to much or it will spill out at the sides!) Give them 20-30 seconds to go tacky and then place onto the cheek bone. Place them in a random pattern that highlights the cheek bone area, be carefull to apply them in even spaces.

I have just started this project for my art foundation called Archiving and Collections. Now, i have in some kind of arty way (otherwise known as bullshitted) my way through and now i’m looking at journeys, so like maps ect, iv gone on walks taking photos and stuff like that.

I have been looking at Robert Rauschenberg recently and i have been reading about typography and i have decided to make some posters as part of my final piece for this module.

Here is my starting point for posters, i got to this by looking at the maps and simplifying the way the roads join and link. I did this onto different colours (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) and then decided to layer them to add colour and to make it look more interesting.

I listen to Trance music in so many hours of my days and nights that it’s odd to be in a silent room. A recent project required me to make a logo for a night club, “Club Life”. This name is derived from Tiesto’s radio show in the Netherlands by the same name: “Tiesto’s Club Life”. Trance has been made famous by such artists including Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Paul van Dyk, Robert Miles, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery, Sander Van Doorn, ATB, Paul Oakenfold, and many more. You can listen to them live on www.di.fm’s trance channel or find out more by visiting http://www.djmag.com/top100 or http://www.astateoftrance.com/.

Club Life is for the trendy, night clubbers with a love for trance and dancing with friends or other lovers of this music style. But the club isn’t just limited to trance, they will also feature House, Industrial, Techno, Drum & Bass and other similar forms. They may even feature live Celebrity DJs.

Anyway, the flyer, logo and Poster provided here should convey the allure of the club.

Uni work is kind of taking over my life. Not just in a typical third year way. The days spent hangin

Uni work is kind of taking over my life. Not just in a typical third year way. The days spent hanging out in the gender section of the library are really taking their toll. I love gender studies, the way that men and women see and interact with each other in a never ending struggle between matriarchy and patriarchy is fascinating to me.

However, the endless amounts of books that I am reading about masculinity in all its forms are not only infiltrating my brain, but are seeping out into any other conversation I may have in the real world. Generally it all boils down to sex, but with words like ‘castration’, ‘phallic power’ and ‘emasculated’ providing a saucy icing. After Tuesdays lecture, when after work drink conversation turned onto the subject of Twilight, where I went to explain why women were so obsessed with Vampire culture (something along the lines of wanting to drink the blood of the glamorous image they want to be like, thus becoming vampires themselves), which was met with raised eyebrows and silence. Its great that I am digesting all this critical theory. It’s not so great to verbally regurgitate the contents of this delightful meal on the unsuspecting public.

Furthermore, because I am constantly reading about it, I am constantly thinking about it, thus sex is forever on the brain. It is really hard not to when reading things like The Male Body by Susan Bordo or Female Desire by Rosalind Coward. But then sex is everywhere to be readily digested in culture anyway. Too much for my little brain (and my ovaries). Too much as well for the sufferers of my sexually deconstructive ramblings all around me. Over analyzing, is not a good thing.

Maybe I should stick to portait miniatures. And then overanalyse how we frame and view everything. Then I really will lose all my friends.

Just read 420 A4 pages of text. I had 11 tenders to evaluate for some consultancy work I’m commissioning, and I got 11 responses, half at about 50 pages and one was 80! It was torture. I feel like my brain has been liquidised..

I’m getting up at the crack of dawn tomorrow too, to catch a flight down to London. It will be good getting to see my friends down south but I’m already shattered and next week is going to be really busy. I actually would appreciate a weekend at home with Boyfriend just watching TV and hanging out.

Got to write up my scoring now and then head downstairs for our work’s Christmas quiz night. We had the Christmas Fair at lunchtime, so everyone is very festive. Can’t believe Christmas is so soon, it’s actually freaking me out a bit :s

One of the most challenging things I have had to do so far is writing the feature intended for the BMI in-flight magazine Voyager. I had it all worked out; what I wanted to write about, how I wanted to write it and when I was going to write it. But it fell through when the interview I was told I would get was cancelled. Obviously, this is something every journalist have to get used to; you are not always in control of your own work! With only a couple of days left to deadline I had to come up with a new idea and a new interview. Here is the result:

My Edinburgh

Recently voted ”the most desirable city in the UK ” this UNESCO world heritage site is well worth a visit.

As one of the major centres of the enlightenment, led by Edinburgh University, the city earned its nickname “Athens of the north”. The cultural tradition has been carried on by famous authors such as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Ian Rankin, Alexander McCall Smith and J.K Rowling, not to mention the annual month-long Edinburgh Festival, dedicated to performing arts, music and literature.

Edinburgh’s two main parts – the Old Town and The New Town – creates a unique city picture;

The Old Town, Edinburgh’s medieval heart, is dominated by Edinburgh Castle – a mighty stone building which looks sprung from the rock on which it stands. From the Castle run the Royal Mile all the way down to Holyrood palace and the Scottish parliament, off it leads narrow streets, so called closes.

The New Town was an attempt to balance the once too crowded Old Town, and with its Georgian houses and well designed squares it is easy to picture it as the background setting to a period drama.

Between the Old and New Towns is Princes Street Gardens, once a loch it is now a green oasis in the middle of a bustling city centre, offering shade and rest on warm summer’s days and a spectacular Christmas fair every December with fairy lights, an ice skating rink and stalls.

To the south of the Old Town lays the student friendly areas of Marchmont and Bruntsfield, almost like small towns in the big city they offer specialist shops, cosy cafés and quaint art galleries.

Someone that has seen it all and fallen in love is Poppy Bending Beckett, 22. She lives and studies in the city, and this is her Edinburgh:

The Meadows:

I love this stretch of parkland in the middle of the city, especially during the autumn with all the colours. I often get a take away lunch and go sit on a bench to watch people. It’s like you can see all of Edinburgh in one place, people kissing, people walking their dogs, people playing football, cricket or rugby, or people just having a picnic. The fact that it is massive makes for a nice walk or run, and it’s just absolutely beautiful.

The National Museum of Scotland:

If you walk alongside the Meadows towards George Square and turn left it will take you to George IV Bridge. This is where three of my other favourite places are located, the first one being the National Museum of Scotland. If you go in the middle of the day on say, a Monday, it will be almost empty and they have all these touchy feely exhibitions you can then have all to yourself!

The Elephant House:

Just across the road from the National Museum is the Elephant House. It is a lovely coffee shop with an abundance of, yes you guessed it, elephants! Paintings of elephants, wee elephant figurines, big wooden elephants, customer’s drawings of elephants and even elephant stools! They serve great vegetarian food, my favourite is a porto bello mushroom burger that comes with roasted parsnip and sweet potato with pine nuts and a honey dressing. It is famous for being the place where a then poor J.K Rowling sat for many hours over one cup of coffee writing the first book about Harry Potter, and if you sit by the window and look out you understand from where she got the inspiration for Hogwarts – there is an amazing view of the Castle!

The Bedlam Theatre:

This is the last of my favourite places located around George IV Bridge, but definitely not the least! Basically it’s a gothic church that has been made into a theatre, it’s home to the Edinburgh University Theatre Company and completely run by students. During the Edinburgh Festival in August it’s a busy festival venue where many small independent theatre companies get to set up their plays. I always go to see a couple of the free ones during the Fringe festival, the quality obviously varies but it’s great fun!

Hillend Ski Centre:

This is for the outdoorsy people, and I prefer it to Arthur’s Seat to be honest. Hillend is the longest artificial ski slope in the world, and since I love snowboarding it’s a great way to practise without having to leave the city!

But I also like to go up there just to enjoy the view, especially on summer nights just as it is getting dark. It really is pretty when you see all the lights of the city coming on. And there are never as many people as you would get on Arthur’s Seat, more excluded and just as great a view!

Sidebar:

Other popular Edinburgh sights:

Edinburgh Castle is the most prominent feature of the city picture. Located at the top of Castle Rock it overlooks the city, and behind its massive stonewalls lays what can best be described as a small village where the oldest building dates back to the 12th century. Mary Queen of Scots gave birth to her son James VI in one of the castle’s grand rooms.

The Royal Mile is, as its name implies, a one-mile long street stretching between the two royal palaces; the Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s Edinburgh residence. The street is a busy tourist hub, with many cashmere and souvenir shops and also the place where the Edinburgh ghost tours start…

Edinburgh Zoo opened in 1913 and is today the home of such varied species as lion, koala and pygmy hippos, and the zoo also runs extensive conservation and research programmes. A perfect day out with the kids as some animal interaction is available!

Calton Hill just east of New Town offers lovely views of the city and is dominated by the only half finished National Monument, modelled on the Parthenon in Athens. There is also the City Observatory, the Nelson’s Monument, the Dugald Stewart Monument, the Robert Burns Monument and the Political Martyre’s Monument to be seen.

This is an article sourced from a visit to the Edinburgh City Halls and the council meeting that too

This is an article sourced from a visit to the Edinburgh City Halls and the council meeting that took place there on October 15 2009:

Liberton United F.C. to give room for new nursery.

On October 15 representatives for Liberton United F.C., led by club president Moray Dickson, yet again addressed the Edinburgh Council. Their plea led to a heated discussion among the councillors.

The football club could lose their home if the plan to close Burdiehouse Primary School to give room for a nursery is carried through. The plans would include tearing down Liberton F.C.’s clubrooms to give room for the new build.

“So far the discussions with the Council have been like driving up to a roundabout, going all the way round and coming back again. We want to find a solution that means we can continue to offer the existing level of support to the children in the area,” says Moray Dickson.

Councillor Norma Hart (Lab) and Councillor Ian Murray (Lab) motioned for immediate help for the football club, but received no backing from the Liberal Democrats or the SNP, which instead suggested a meeting on site to look over the situation.

“Even though the LibDems/SNP Council voted for no action, we welcome the offer made to meet with the club on site. Hopefully this time they will be listened to,” says Councillor Hart.

Liberton United F.C. is a self-financed football club run by volunteers. They rely on the sales of beverages and food at different events and functions, these sales are carried out in the now threatened clubrooms. In all, the club supports 150 children and youngsters in 14 football teams in the deprived area of Gracemount. Moray Dickson is worried what will happen if a new venue cannot be provided, in addressing the council he made it clear that the club works in close contact with the community and that it “has helped to get children off the street”.

Councillor Hart agrees, saying “it would be appalling if the council started to build before a suitable agreed alternative has been found for this well established club”.

Someone I admire is Sara Bengtsson. She’s my age but has already done so much, and that is why I decided to interview her when asked to portray a journalist I look up to…

Interview with a journalist

Aged 23, Sara Bengtsson has already achieved more than many journalists do during an entire professional career.

When she had just finished school at the age of 19 her father started a magazine intended for parents to children with disabilities. Since he didn’t have the time himself he asked Sara to take the position of editor-in-chief, although she had no previous experience.

“He obviously had a lot of confidence in me,” Sara says, “but if I had not performed to high standards he would not have kept me on the position. I had to do a lot of networking and gain a lot of trust within the disabled community to be able to do the job well.”

Sara’s first major interview was with Swedish author Soren Olsson whose son suffers from Downs Syndrome:

“It was my first big interview and I didn’t really know what to expect. But then Soren told me that his son had a heart condition as well, and that he was dying from it. It was the first time he told the media, and that meant a lot, that he chose me and my magazine as the ones to tell.”

She says that her interview technique has improved a lot over the years; she finds it easier to instantly connect with the interviewee, to ask the right questions and to make the conversation flow naturally. She has also learnt that “as a journalist you have the right to ask stupid questions, you do after all write for people that probably don’t know anything about the subject.”

Two and a half years ago Sara applied to Medieinstitutet, a college in Stockholm that offers diplomas in media related courses. She was accepted and started a two-year-long course in TV production. She says that, so far, it is the most fun she has ever had.

The course gave her all the tools she needed to make it in the media industry; she got to try TV, documentary and film, and everything from researching to casting and producing. She also got to do a six month long work placement as a reporter for Efterlyst, the Swedish equivalent to Crime Watch UK.

After finishing the course Sara has combined her knowledge of TV producing and the experience she got whilst working as a writing journalist, and now works as a reporter at Aschberg/Adaktusson – a TV show focused on social and investigative reporting.

“When I first started working at Efterlyst, I saw it as a bit trashy. You know, finding bloody stories about crimes committed and interviewing victims trying to make it as appealing to as broad an audience as possible. But I must say I’ve changed my opinion a little bit. When you do something like that you really need to work on how you approach your interviewee, and you grow a lot as a reporter. Often I had to interview people who had been robbed, assaulted or raped, people in crisis. It takes integrity and compassion compared with a lot of professionalism to handle that.”

“The work I’m doing now as a reporter for Aschberg/Adaktusson is a lot more investigative and analysing, and that’s what I like about it, I want to do ‘digging’ journalism!”

Already having done so much, what does she see herself doing in ten years time?

“In ten years time I will be the editor of one of Sweden’s most respected investigative TV programmes, or I will have started a production company that focuses on the production of quality documentaries.”

To achieve this mesmerising look start with the eyes to ensure you can wipe away any drops from the bright eye shadows.

MAC Pigment (priced £15) Purple was mixed with MAC PRO Mixing Medium/Eyeliner to create a liquid shadow.

This was applied accentuating the eyes in a cat like shape. Highlight the lid by sweeping Nars Night Life shadow (priced £14.00) close to the lash line.

Laura Mercier Purple Sapphire Kohl Eye Pencil ((priced £14.69) lined the bottom lash line but can also be used to map out the shape before filling in the eye shadow.

Collection 2000 Shake It Up glitter gel eyeliner was applied over the top of the lower liner to give an eye catching purple sparkle. Apply mascara and wipe away any drops then moisturise ready for foundation.

Annaleise wears MAC Micronised Airbrush foundation. This water resistant base has buildable coverage which lasts well and gives a dewy glow to the skin which will highlight the contours of the face.

The cheeks were subtly blushed using a plum toned blusher from Sleek Cosmetics. Glossy Claret lips were achieved by applying Loreal Studio Secrets Plum Lipsstick (priced £8.99) which was blotted before Rimmel Shock gloss in Magnificent (priced £4.49) was slicked over the top for a patent shine (priced £4.20)

For the nails I used L’Oreal Resist & Shine Titanium 710 Meteorite (priced £4.88).

Start with the electrifying blue eyes. Use a blue pencil like Bourjois Contour Clubbing Waterproof eye pencil (priced £4.50) to trace around the upper and lower lash lines and smudge around the eye. This will give your eye shadow a crease-free water poof base to adhere to and intensify the colour in this area.

Now, sweep MAC’s Deep Truth eye shadow (priced £11.00) all over the lids and blend in MAC Plumage (priced £11.00) slightly out from the socket line.

Densely line the inside waterlines in MAC Smolder Kohl Liner (priced £12.00) and apply a platinum shine to the lips using Bobbi Brown Pearl Sugar Gloss (priced £14.00). Finish with Dior Show Waterproof Mascara (priced £20.00)

Once the skin around the eyes has been cleaned of any powder drops, apply YSL’s Matte Touch primer (priced £27.00) with finger tips to eradicate shine, create gorgeous velvet smooth skin and increase the endurance of foundation. Now apply Oil free Iman Second to None cream to powder foundation .

The finishing touch to this look was jewel toned talons Chanel nail colour, in Blue Satin

Apply L’Oreal Studio Secrets Shadow Grey eye shadow (priced £5.99) to the whole lid area all the way up to the socket bone and also sweep along the lower lash line

Light up your eyes by highlighting the inner corners with a vibrant silver shadow MAC Pigment in Silver (priced £15.00) and give a flash of colour to it by blending blue eye shadow Bobbi Brown Midnight (priced £14.00) out from the outer corners, elongating the eye shape.

Add warmth to the cheeks with Bobbi Brown Cranberry (priced £16.00), paint some illuminating sparkle on the lips by sweeping on Chanel Levres Scintillantes Magnifique (priced £18.00) and to the nails by finishing the look with Gosh Nail Varnish in Gasoline (priced £4.89).

Now you are ready to go out and own the night.

For our first assignment we had to interview a stranger. The idea was to go to Princes Street Garden

For our first assignment we had to interview a stranger. The idea was to go to Princes Street Garden and find someone, but I who have always been fascinated by the British pub culture decided to go for a barman! Here is the result:

The man behind the bar…

He might not be who you think he is… I had a chat with David T.N Simpson, 31, barman at the local pub The Golden Rule:

David is a barman with a degree in Chemistry, who started doing Philosophy and Theology at Glasgow University but found the commuting too stressful and therefore turned a part-time job at the local pub into a full-time one 20 months ago.

He told me that in his opinion students in Scotland start their degrees at too young an age, and that if he were to do it again he would have made a different choice. He is however looking to pick up where he latest left off, transferring his credits from Glasgow University to the Edinburgh ditto, thinking he might as well since “he would be reading those books by himself anyway”.

He likes his job at the pub very much, especially getting to talk to the great variety of people that comes in. In his own words they get “everyone from roofers and Classics professors to regulars that have been coming for 30 years … people no longer know their neighbours, so the pub has become the modern local community”. For him, working in the pub and talking to these people is “constant education”.

Of course I had to ask: as a barman, does he not get to see and hear the strangest things?

No, he said, it really isn’t that bad. The worst thing that has ever happened was when a drunken man reluctant to leave took a swing at him. And missed.

But he did have another alcohol-related story to share with me, one that turned him republican and features prince William:

“I attended St Andrews at the same time as him, and I tell you, it’s difficult to stay royalist when you see your future monarch stagger out of the boozer skin full with cider”

I recently wrote a seasonal how-to which I thought everyone would enjoy coming close to Christmas. I

I recently wrote a seasonal how-to which I thought everyone would enjoy coming close to Christmas. I also did the make up for this editorial with amazing photographer and good friend Dave Wise.

Evening make up

It’s that time of year again when grudgingly we watch our tans quickly fade, pile on the woolly layers and wave good bye to the last days of summer but thankfully we have a glitz filled party season to cheer us up. I have created professional step by step evening looks so you can turn heads this autumn.

Effortless glamour

This look is long lasting understated and elegant; the alluring lashes add instant femininity.

Individual eyelashes Eyelure (£4.80) are a make up artist’s favourite beauty secret. They can be customised to every model to simply add exceptionally natural thickness to lashes or even to create long-lasting fluttering glamour puss lashes. They can last up to 4 weeks and need little or no mascara eradicating the possibility of smudges or chips so perfect for evening beauty

Application

Before you start make sure your lashes are completely clean and oil free.

Select the lashes that will work best on you and thing about the finish you want, natural, glam, flared at the corner….

Choose how long you want the lashes to last, if only for1-2 days Duo lash glue (£8.50) is an outstanding glue for easy application and removal. Or for more of a semi permanent lash (up to 4 weeks) use Eyelure’s individual eyelash glue and remover which is included with the lashes.

Keep the eye you are working on closed throughout application.

With the glue applicator or a fine disposable brush apply the glue from the stem of the lash and spread up the lash a little so the lash has lots of surface area to adhere to your own lashes, be careful not to drown the lash in glue.

Give the lash a few seconds to go tacky.

Start from the corner of the lashes and work towards the middle

Hold the individual eyelash carefully with clean fingers tips in place pressing as close as possible to your lash root.

Open your eye when the glue is dry; do not panic if the eye corners stick at all when you open your eye. Carefully use your nails to pick any pulling glue off. Do be extremely careful through out the application, if any glue goes into the eye follow manufacturers guidelines.

Once the lashes are totally dry you can apply the rest of your make up but be extra careful not to pull or rub the lashes out of place.

A flawless base is key when working a naturally gorgeous look and vitally important for every model to be able to achieve in their working lives.

Determine your skin type and ensure you select your skin care according to this. Banish any overly perfumed or abrasive products from your bath room cabinet; don’t over load your skin. (For advice try a Dermalogica skin mapping consultation 0800 591 818 ).

Now your skin is perfectly clean and moisturised a primer is a fantastic product to get a prolonged smooth finish from your foundation. Smooth Laura Mercier’s moisturising primer £26.43 in with finger tips to get a deliciously dewy glow to dry/normal skins or apply L’Oreal studio secrets anti shine mattifying primer (£9.99) This competitively priced primer holds its own to the big dogs and gives a beautifully smooth velvety finish which controls shine for oily skins and keeps your foundation fresh for hours.

Start your make up with your eyes this way any drop from the eye shadow can be wiped away before your foundation is applied.

Lightly sweep Bobbi Brown Bone eye shadow £14 all over the eye from lid to brow as a base, follow with Mac Woodwinked £11 blending over the lid area and blend a lighter shadow to highlight into the inner corner of the eye and to highlight just below the brow area, Mac Shroom £11.

Wipe away any drop and line the eyes tracing neatly around the lash line and blend with a fine eyeliner brush. Chanel long lasting waterproof eyeliner in Espresso.

Wipe away any powder drop with a face wipe and then apply Bobbi Brown Skin foundation (£27.00) with a foundation brush for long wearing buildable coverage that looks like perfect skin. Cover up any visible imperfections with Bobbi Brown touch up stick (£17.00).

Lightly press a little Rimmel Stay Matt Powder over the t-zone to set and bronze outwards from the forehead spread out from the tops of cheeks and dab a tiny small amount on the bridge of the nose. Bronzer gives more believable depth to the face and eradicates any unnatural blankness from the foundation Guerlain Bronzer (£30.00).

To give an instant healthy glow to the apples of the cheeks dust Illamasqua’s powder blush in Chased (£16.00)

Finish with a glossy long lasting lipstick Bobbi Browns Creamy lip Colour in Crystal Pink (£15)

Smokey eyes and pale lips (Annalise)

Again start with the eyes. You will get a lot of noticeable powder drop from a dark smokey look so start with a cream to give extra drama and a good base for shadows to adhere to.

For the eye look I have used Dior 5 Couleurs Designer palette in Smokey design 08. An all in one palette with 4 textured blendable shades and a cream liner with a matt velvety texture which in this case I also used as a base for my shadows.

I spread the cream over the whole of the lid and blended the darkest shadow over the lid and the medium shimmering shade over the centre of the lids and into the corners and traced it around the lower lash line.

Macs smoulder eye kohl pencil (£12.00) was densely penciled into the upper and lower water lines and blended into the lash line using a fine brush to add fierce intensity.

A matt brown powder was blended in to the eye socket area and Bobbi Brown’s Bone Powder (as before) was used to high light under the eyebrows.

I applied 2 coats of mascara combing through from roots to tips as the finishing touch to the eyes Make up Forever’s Smokey Lash Mascara (£14.00)

After combing through the eyebrows I used Laura Mercier’s double ended brow brush (£27.00) and swept through Laura Mercier’s brow defining wax in a light feathering motion where ever the brows looked sparse. As the eyes are so striking do not over do the eyebrows, keep them natural to avoid the look becoming hard.

I applied Iman’s Luminous foundation to Annalise’s skin using a sponge, the oil free formulas and vast selections of colours are perfect for darker skin tones. Cover up any visible imperfections with Bobbi Brown touch up stick (£17.00).

Once the foundation has settled lightly press a little Rimmel Stay Matt Powder over the t-zone with a powder brush to set. Bobbi Brown’s blusher in Tawny (£16.00) was subtly brushed on to the apples of the cheeks to give a healthy flash of warmth.

To create a long lasting pale lip a pencil liner slightly lighter than Annalise’s lips was applied all over the lip area to tone down the lips MAC Naked Rose Cream stick Liner (£10.50). Nars Supervixen Lipgloss (£17.00) was painted neatly over the lips to finish this look.
