Credevo in altre cose, avevo altri obiettivi… Tutti noi siamo soli a modo nostro, eppure siamo tutti insieme a condividere paure e ansie. Never give up…I want to do it.. Please…I’m just asking for another little thing in this 2009…PLEASE ♥. Stop being stupid, i want to grow up…BASTA PAURE…BASTA….Quest’estate l’ho visto, BASTA BUTTARSI ;D

Hello. My name is Yasmin, and one of my biggest fetishes was Christian Bale.

It started one day, sitting all by myself doing nothing. I thought to myself “What should I do…?” and then it hit me: far away, standing alone in my bookcase was the dvd I had borrowed from Agnes. American Psycho.

And I just loooooooved it! Everything about it.. but mostly my good friend, Christian Bale. Since, him and I have spent a lot of time together… until I met Troels (and no, I’m not writing it to please you, Troels. But I truly mean it)

Once again Agnes sent me something that amazed me. A combination of this lovely boy, David, who had just been to the dentist for the first time and is a bit… high and Christian Bale yelling at some poor smock, and although he is an asshole in the clip, I still think gladly of the time we spent together when I was 17.

I’m supposed to be studying but that is obviously not happening. What I have been doing howeve

I’m supposed to be studying but that is obviously not happening. What I have been doing however is wasting time on the internet and other such things. I have also been running around the house.

Now when I say “running around the house” I mean running. I keep running about, jumping over chairs, bounding up the stairs and generally being a hazard. However I have not been injured.

This evening however…

I was standing in the kitchen talking to my parents. I took a step forward in a calm, measured, sedate manner… and then there’s a moment when I think the world’s suddenly tilted around and then I’m on the floor.

It seems I had slipped on some water, and while trying to regain my balance I caught my foot in this contraption the maidservant uses to cart vessels around and hence I ended up on the floor.

I discovered that I had managed to acquire a barcodesque abrasion on my right wrist and a cut on my foot. I have no idea how I got those. I suppose I got those while obeying gravity. Along the way I also managed to injure my father.

It was an interesting experience, especially since it was completely unexpected. It’s been some time since fell. The last time I fell was when I fell out of that tree at The Indian Botanic Gardens. This was more entertaining. I felt like I was flying when I fell out of that tree. This time I felt confused, as if someone had suddenly decided to change the orientation of the world and forgot to tell me.

I also burst out laughing when I realised I was on the floor in a tangled heap- the constituents of the heap being myself, The Contraption and a karai. My mother, not to be outdone, asks me “Did you fall?”. I’m on the floor in a tangled heap when she says this.

In other news- I feel old. It’s almost the end of 5th Semester. It seems like only yesterday that it was 1st Semester. It’ll soon be 2010. I left school in 2007. That’s a long time ago. 1999 was ten years ago. 1999 seems like a couple of days ago. I find it hard to think of the time period 1996-2007 as a long time ago. I can’t remember a single thing about those years. They’re all a confused mish-mash in my head. I have no distinct, individual memories of those years but those years just seem very recent.

Soon It’ll be 6th Semester and I’ll have graduated. Then it’ll be time to face life. Peter Pan has all the luck.

More In other news I have a strange desire to watch Ninja Assassin. It just looks like a cool, mindless movie. Plus it has Ninjas. How can anything be bad if it has Ninjas? (Enter The Ninja was not bad. It was hilarious!)

I have decided not to watch 2012. I shall watch Ninja Assassin instead.

Even more In other news I’m getting a blister on my thumb. I will get the posters of our Macbeth project printed. They cost only Rs.40 each. There are six of them so that’s Rs.240. I can manage that. They’re damn cool. I’ll put up some once I get the soft copies. They have come out nicely, even if I do say so myself.

Some more In other News I’ve… no that’s about it. I’ve said all I’ve had to say. Oh wait no.

Shoutout All you Lurkers… Delurk!

Yeah, that’s about it.

I shall now waste time on the internet.

It’s been three days since I recovering all the data into my laptop. Maybe you will be confused here. My laptop crashed last Monday. Yeah, first I got to open all the stuff etc internet and music and all. Then, the ‘blue screen of death’ pop out. It says “dumping data into drive”. I was about to serve my food on café world ( yes, I do play that game on facebook). And this happen before the poco-poco class ( my first time). How very depressing I must say. Then, with hope as bright as the ray of sun (*sarcastically) that data can be saved, well, let’s just say that hope just gone just like that. So, on that pitiful Saturday, I just restored back the data that I have *sigh.

I am a big fan of Christmas. I like the music. I like the gatherings and the food. A very importa

I am a big fan of Christmas.

I like the music. I like the gatherings and the food. A very important consideration in checking out any potential residence for each new duty station over the years was to determine where the Christmas tree would go, even if I was moving in March. I have started saying my prayers for a little bit of snow and already have the itch to start decorating.

I think the holiday still has a little magic left in it, and I am anxious for the season to kick-off officially.

All that said, I still have a rule that Christmas decorations don’t come out until after Thanksgiving. Well, really, as the title of this post tells you, it’s more of a guideline, which is good, because today I didn’t just break out the Christmas decorations. I started making them.

Every month a dear friend of mine and I try to get together for lunch. Since she lives nearly three hours from me, we have picked spots in between our two homes, meeting somewhere in the middle. This afternoon we met at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York, my absolute favorite museum. Unusual for me, we bypassed all of the galleries and exhibit halls, because this morning we had an appointment at the glass blowing studios. After a quick lesson in glass blowing, each of us got to make our very own Christmas ornament. Very cool!!

Unfortunately, since glass needs to be cooled ultra-slowly from it’s 2300 degree temps, or else it will be dangerously brittle, I couldn’t bring today’s project home with me. Rest assured it looks somewhat like one or two of the 2000 glass ornaments seen in the photo above.

For those of you interested in trying your hand at a little glass blowing, follow the link above to the Corning Museum of Glass. If you’d like to read a little more about the museum, read on.

CMOG

Corning Museum of Glass is host to an extensive glass collection, impressive exhibits on the science and industry of glass, glass blowing studios, café and shopping. It does, in fact, have something for everyone. The variety of interests the museum can entertain makes it a perfect outing for the whole family. For a self-professed glass geek like myself, it provides all day entertainment. I never arrive without a profound sense of anticipation, eager to see what new experiences await me. I never leave without having learned something new – like what makes crimson glass so prized or who invented that indestructible casserole dish.

Getting There

Lying just across the river from the lovely downtown Corning, at 1 Museum Way, CMOG can be reached from the North via I-390 South to I-86 East to Exit 86. Take a right at the bottom of the ramp and follow signs to the museum parking lot. From the East it can be reached via I-86 West (NY-17 West) to Exit 86. Take left at the bottom of the ramp and follow signs to the parking area. The parking lot is located just a three-minute walk from the museum entrance. If you’d prefer to save your stamina for the display floors, comfortable, wheelchair accessible shuttle buses, running about every 15 minutes through most of the museums hours, service the parking area. Once you leave the museum, the complimentary shuttle will happily transport you into downtown Corning’s historic Gaffer’s District.

Entering the Museum

Once inside all roads lead to glass. Open since 1951, Corning Museum of Glass was originally housed in a small building in the Corning Glass Center complex. Surviving the floods spawned by Hurricane Agnes in 1972, museum staff of years ago can tell you tales of wading through the display spaces where five feet of water from the overflowing Chemung River had wreaked havoc with the museum collection. Museum pieces were sloshed from their displays and found crusted in mud. Rare books documenting the history of glassmaking from the library were found in pools of standing water. Museum staff and volunteers, with the help of conservators from many other museums, worked tirelessly to preserve this world-class collection. The museum reopened a month after floodwaters receded, although the restoration work would continue long after that re-opening.

With its original collection restored and the acquisition of new documents and pieces, the museum outgrew its walls and in 1978 an addition was built to connect a series of galleries. The new galleries are raised above the high-water mark of the historic Southern Tier, but in the Admissions Lobby you will see markers indicating the height that water from the overflowing Chemung River reached. In 1996 another expansion was embarked on, with the most recent renovations having been completed in 2001. The CMOG that you will see is housed in a strikingly state-of-the-art facility. The bright and airy lobby holds many enticements, including the dramatic Green Fern Tower by Dale Chihuly and views to the nearby sculpture garden and glass innovations gallery.

Admissions are $12.50 for adults (Student, AAA and 55+ discounts are available). Kids under 17 are free and audio tours are available for $3.00. The friendly admission desk staff will be happy to share their tips on special events and get you started on your tour. Make sure to ask when the hot glass shows are starting so you can plan your route accordingly.

Sculpture Garden

Starting in the sculpture gallery you are brought face to face with an unmatched collection of modern glass art. Created in a single media, the spectrum of textures, colors and reflectivity represented in this gallery pays silent tribute not only to the versatility of glass, but to the creative genius of those who make it their life’s work.

Featuring glass pieces from 49 artists from around the world, you will find something to fall in love with, whether it is Sylvia Levenson’s striking It’s Raining Knives, the elegant Chartreuse Pair crafted at the hands of Dante Marioni or the ethereal Evening Dress With Shawl from Karen LaMonte. Each piece evokes its own response, like a living thing. Whether blown, mold-melted, cut, fused, etched, sandblasted or flame-worked, you will see the hand of the artist. Maybe for one or two among you will see your own reflection in some of these beautiful pieces.

Glass Through the Ages

Turning left out of the Sculpture Garden you enter the Glass Collection and turn the clock back 35 centuries. This stunning collection hosts pieces dating as far back as the 15th century BC. More than 45,000 examples of glass through the ages are displayed. Here you can marvel at the careful preservation 3500 year-old glass removed from the sands of the Middle East and see the efforts of the earliest glassblowers in the 1st century AD. Observe how the qualities of glass morph over time as new techniques emerge in the industry. The collector among you will find something to admire in the Study Gallery’s wonderful collections, whether it is the vast array of paperweights or the broad collection of glass liquor flasks.

Further on you can stroll through the Crystal City Gallery, which guides you through the Corning area’s transformation from farmland to the nation’s leading glass producing region. The final gallery brings you back into the 20th and 21st centuries, with glass pieces including the Tiffany window formerly of Rochroane Castle in Irvington-on-Hudson as well as modern glass furniture.

The Hot Glass Studio

Here the cast of talented glass artisans performs a narrated glass blowing demonstration several times daily. Flat screen televisions provide close up views from all angles, giving you all-access coverage, including inside the furnace, and you will sit close enough to feel the heat from the glass furnaces, and speak with the narrator. Prepare to be entertained and educated in the hot glass studio as you watch molten glass being shaped into new and wondrous forms.

The Innovations Gallery

To the right, as you enter the museum exhibit floor, the secrets of the glass industry unfold. Yes – it speaks to my inner geek. Walk from the superb display of optics and wonder at the use of glass to understand light. Contemplate the use of glass to understand our own vision. Pay tribute to the use of glass to expand our own horizons, both inwardly and outwardly. Observe the lenses through which we have discovered the very particles that build or thwart the human body and the lenses through which we have observed far away galaxies.

there are just some things i’m embarrassed to admit i enjoy..

1. mcdonald’s mcgriddles (with just egg & cheese)
luckily, there isn’t a mcdonald’s in arcata. however, there’s one in each of the surrounding towns. but, every month or so, i cheat on my “anti-fast food” persona and savor the delicious, syrupy bread; the sweet, tasty egg; and the warm, melted cheese. i try to remain faithful to said persona, but sometimes i can’t help but succumb to my temptations..

2. runescape
i’ll probably be the first one to let you know how ridiculous you are if you play world of warcraft or diablo. despite runescape being the crappy graphics, noob version of both, i adore it. who wouldn’t enjoy grabbing a few friends and geeking out on a sunday afternoon?

3. eating fish
just recently, i’ve switched from being a herbivore to a pescatarian. and sometimes i’m embarrassed to admit how glad i am to have made that choice. however, fish are far too delicious for me to feel tooooo guilty that i’m eating them.

4. big brother
at the beginning of every summer, excitement and anticipation rush through my body whenever i watch a commercial leading up to the season premiere of big brother. i guess i have a love for the drama that these people love to stir up every episode. for a couple seasons my mom and i also read summaries of the live feeds that cbs posted.

5. sushi
$2.00 for nigiri is somewhat ridiculous for me, simply because i love ordering tons of it and i don’t have the money to do such a thing on a regular basis. i wish i could eat sushi more than once a week, however that’s often enough for me(especially now that i eat fish). nom nom nom.

6. rhianna
yep.

7. yard sales
i wish i could go to these every weekend. i especially love the ones the college students have, because they have more and more things they’re looking to give away that i’d be more interested in buying. still, some people have scrap fabric or cute pillows or even a trendy tapestry. i could go to at least one for the rest of my life and never be bored.

8. boyfriend time over friend time
yes, i have recently turned into one of those people who chooses her boyfriend over friends. it’s gotten to the point where i’ll be flakey for the fifth time in a row, or when i do go through with plans i try to leave or end them as early as possible. i am a terrible friend.

9. cell phone
texting, internet, games on a super portable device… i love it.

10. hgtv
my obsession with hgtv has previously made me consider becoming an interior designer. they make it look so easy! and definitely fun. i love “designed to sell” and various other interior design shows, as well as house hunters. however, the completely landscaping things are not so much in my interest. i probably have a brown thumb

what are some of your guilty pleasures?

Maravillosas coincidencias.

No desesperes.

Yep,

It’s an easy topic today. What would you do if you’re rich?

For me, If I were rich, I’d make all my ambition come true… and here are my three top wish list If I were rich (also posted on twitter):

#ifiwererich I’d invest my money 2 make a good housing complex w/ its own recycling center&garbage classification instruction in each house

=> well, in this case, I’d like to start in making small housing complex with an integrated recycling center. I’m inspired by Germany and Taiwan’s garbage classification system where people there have the awareness that garbage classifying is an important thing to do. If the people have the awareness in my housing complex, I’m sure they’ll spread the awareness to people surround them so that all Indonesian may be like Germany and Taiwan too!

#ifiwererich I’d also make an education foundation focusing on BRAIN GAIN issue. How to connect students-educational exchange-working in Indonesia

=> my ambition here is quite hard to achieve I know. The focus here is how do Brain Gain in Indonesia. So, the basic system of this foundation is, we want to recruit top students of Indonesia to be given a scholarship to go for a master degree outside Indonesia. The recruitment here is also the recruitment to work in Indonesia’s top companies. So, after they finish their master degree, they have to come back and work in Indonesia. Therefore, there won’t be any Brain Drain in the future I hope.

#ifiwererich I’d buy an Island and make it into a special province where I can build my own education, environmental & regulation system

=> in this case, It’s quite hard to change Indonesia as it is right now. We still have corrupted system. Therefore, if Indonesia wants to change, I believe we need to change the system. But I can’t change the big system we already have now. That’s why I want to buy an Island where I can create my own idealistic system. I’d build my own education, environmental, and regulation system first as the priority. It’s like a small state inside a state, but I believe if we’re successful in this island (province), the other province will look us up to as an example

Well, that’s all for today’s post, hope you guys can create something bigger than this when you’re rich
