Call The Cops, winner of the “Rock the Space” contest awarding a record contract with MySpace Records, will open for Sugarcult at the band’s seventh annual Toys for Tots benefit concert December 17 at the Anaheim House of Blues.

The Long Beach, CA electro-rock outfit round out a supporting bill that also includes Hollywood glam rockers Primadonna (fresh off a tour with Green Day), and OC indie buzz band Venus Infers.

Tickets for the Toys for Tots benefit are on sale now.

Sherwood enlisted the help of the multi-talented Matt Wignall best known for his work with the Cold War Kids (mattwignall.com) to direct the video for the first single off their latest release, Qu – out now on MySpace Records.

Wendy’s and MySpace Records have teamed up to launch a new Internet series called “Fresh Faces.” Building on Wendy’s motto of ‘You Know When It’s Real,’ the ongoing Web program will include 9 episodes from three different emerging artists showing what a ‘day in the life’ of a budding new artist is like.

Each “Fresh Faces” artist will have its own 3 episodes than can be seen exclusively at www.myspace.com/wendys, in addition to a 3-song EP available for free download on the site. A new episode will debut every Wednesday throughout the series. The first episode featuring Charleston, SC alternative pop rock artist Friends For Hire (www.myspace.com/friendsforhire) is up now at www.myspace.com/wendys.

Now lagging behind Facebook and Bebo, MySpace is crying out for a strategy rejig - Marketing magazine reports…

MySpace launched in the UK in 2006, having already established itself in the US market, targeting the 16- to 34-year-old music fans it believed were gold dust to advertisers.

Aimed at an older audience than rival Bebo, the News Corp-owned social networking site positioned itself as a free and open community of music producers and fans, and even launched an independent record label, MySpace Records, to develop artists. The site had a meteoric rise in its early years, becoming the most-visited in the US – overtaking Yahoo! and Google – in 2006.

MySpace has become a victim of its own success, however. In an attempt to get back to its start-up roots, it is cut-ting its ‘bloated’ staff numbers, making 100 redundancies in the UK alone.

Despite its best efforts to persuade brands that a third of social network users will click through to buy services, advertising partnerships have also been harder to come by this year. Mars terminated its title sponsorship of Mars Planets Radio, for which MySpace says it is now seeking a replacement. Its deal with Google, which provides search and advertising on MySpace, is also set to expire in 2010.

Now trailing behind Facebook and Bebo, with Hitwise figures showing UK visits to MySpace have dropped by 50% in the past year, the pressure is on to make some major changes.

Cancer makes me crazy, it makes me want to get violent, it gets to me like few things can. I want to give cancer a black eye and a fat lip and I hope you can help. I don’t know if there is an official charity for this race but it doesn’t matter because I have some of my own. Cancer has adversely affected a number of people I am lucky enough to call friends. I could write a book about the injustice, how PISSED this terrible disease makes me, the emotional cost, the cost cost, etc… Please give to ANY or ALL of these deserving humans; cancer has left all of them in need of our support.

Pancreatic cancer tragically took the life of my friend, Eric Ferris, leaving behind an indomitable wife and three beautiful children. Go HERE to help fund Jackson, Carter and Reagan’s education.

Its been quite a minute since Christina Milian left our stereos. When Def Jam Records dropped her from its  roster a week after her album “So Amazin’ ” was released, the singer didn’t leave the public eye, but she certainly didn’t serve any music relevance at the time as Rihanna and Beyonce devoured the only room that was left for former Disney star.
“Us Against The World” is the first single off of new album on MySpace Records. It’s a catchy pop hit that’s capable of having its own following.

Milian has a great single under her belt and is in pursuit of stepping on the stone that she established. She looks absolutely breath taking in the video.
