I’m just sitting here, feeling sort of overwhelmed, and I suddenly realized that things are basically okay.

• M is upstairs writing an essay due tomorrow. She’s finished 5 of ten applications. That’s pretty good, considering they’re not really due until January 15. It’s a miracle.
• I spoke with N on the phone today. I think we’re basically all set. I’ve got place tickets, and places to stay, and a ferry reservation for the one we have to sleep on. She’s going to look into the bus tickets, and I can actually stay with her housemother, which is kind of exciting. I’ve ordered a couple different winter coats (they really aren’t available here). I think things are pretty well set. I guess I have to get my passport back, and find a way from the airport to the hotel when I first get in (I won’t stay with N the first few nights since she’ll be busy finishing up her program) but otherwise, I think it’s set enough.
• Dinner is in the oven and involves about 8 servings of vegetables, and I went to the gym this morning, plus every day I was in Arizona.
• We survived Thanksgiving! I actually was clever to go a day ahead and have a day to devote to my mother and grandmother. In fact, we had two days before Thanksgiving to hang around and do nothing and that was great. Also, strangely, everyone seems good. My grandmother seems happy, my difficult brother seems happy, my cousin’s cute children were cute. It was all pretty good, and somehow a lot less hectic than it usually is, which meant I actually did have some time to talk to my grandmother which was nice.

I think it really is just the passage of time. Getting past Thanksgiving means one less hurdle to Russia, and I’m really working on making Christmas really simple. I think we’re going to do a heifer international project thing for all the cousins. I’ve bought the cards. I don’t think we’re going to exchange much ourselves. And I really really can’t wait to see N.

Ha! It is miraculous.

Vam creuar-nos, la vaig mirar i al cap d’uns segons de buit mental vaig anar corrent cap a ella. Es va espantar i em va mirar amb cara de por. No sap anglès així que el seu acompanyant va haver de traduir-ho tot, molt amablement per cert. És de Tòquio i molt guapa, com podeu veure. Vam fer broma sobre el nostre color de cabell  i després em va demanar que ens féssim una foto juntes amb la seva càmera (tot això mig gesticulant). L’única paraula que va dir en anglès va ser “sightseeing”, contestant a la pregunta que li vaig fer sobre què hi feia a Barcelona. Vam intercanviar els blogs i ens vam despedir.

Blaze of Glory

Hi everyone!  Hope we all had a fabulous Turkey day today and ate plenty of goodies!  It’s been an eventful and rather busy few days for me, but it should all start to slow down soon.  I popped on to blog my most recent look of the day.  It’s gonna be a simple, sweet, and short one, so bear with me. Yay!

So, the other day, while scavenging the grid for even more things to add to my hoard, I discovered a fun new store! New to me anyway… I love those.  [MANDALA] makes some exquisite accessories.  This bracelet shown in the closeup here was one of my finds there, as well as the belt, AND the necklace… I loaded up… they were definitely splurge worthy designs.  I also popped over to Mustache, where I was pleasantly pleased with these fantastic blues glasses.  I tried them several ways, and I have to say, I’m a sucker for the crooked sitting glasses, but for this look, I decided to keep it simple and straight forward.  These boots, nothing new, but… definitely still one of the best additions I’ve had to my shoes folder (which is in dire need of organization).  The black boot comes with so many different options in itself… folded or straight sleeves, denim folds, color change sole/zipper, built-in animations which are optional, and even optional sounds (if you are into those :\).  I found that the gray denim option perfectly matched the [N] jeans I picked up last week.  Pair it with this perfectly created and easy to please pinstripe blazer from Armidi and a simple grey tank, like this one from Cyanide and once again, all set.
