Momok linux yang terlihat susah dan ribet, ternyata begitu mudah dan mengasyikan loh. Sekian lama ingin beralih ke linux hanya terbentur gara2 koneksi internet, jaringan dan remote PC di kantor. Untuk bagian pertama ini, saya akan share bagaimana setting modem HP Nokia N70 di Ubuntu 8.04 menggunakan kartu Telkom Flash.

Pertama, sambungkan Laptop/PC ke HP Nokia menggunakan kabel USB. Lalu, ketik di terminal :
$ sudo mesg|tail

nanti akan terlihat, apakah HP kita terdektesi atau tidak. jika belum maka akan dikonfigurasi secara otomatis. Setelah itu ketik :
$ sudo wvdialconf
Sintak diatas akan membuat konfigurasi modem secara default.

Kemudian ketik :
$ sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf

maka akan terbuka layar editor. Edit settingan di dalamnya menjadi seperti di bawah ini :

Blogging is one of the most popular emerging trends in the online society nowadays. An online portfolio that keeps track of a blogger’s life thoughts and ideas. However, this beta application has a place for my cool-o-meter. It could save pages on phone or memory making it accessible whenever in offline mode. Hello everybody!

It’s been a long time since I don’t write about any computer stuff so here I’m back again showing you how to use your mobile phone as a bluetooth modem under Linux. I needed it a couple of weeks back when I was travelling and wanted to be able to check my e-mail anywhere so I hope it seems usefull for you tu.

First of all a few important facts:

• I’m using a Nokia N70 but it should work with almost any device
• I’m using a Spanish SIMYO card
• I’m running a Debian GNU/Linux SO with some required packages (bluez, bluez-utils, wvdial)

Altough the process should be quite simple (pair your computer with your phone and then use it) I found lot of troubles while pairing that I’ll show how to solve.

First of all you should check if your mobile phone supports acting like a bluetooth modem so do ’sdptool browse’ and look for something like “Dial-up Networking” (obviously have your bluetooth enabled in both PC and phone).

Okey, now lets pair both devices (here is where I found most of my problems) as none of the pages I found showed how to do it. Pairing means allowing a connection from PC to mobile phone or vicebersa.

Edit your ‘/etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf’ to assign a device (MAC) and channel, use which you get in the previous step.

Now let’s try to connect using ‘rfcomm connect rfcomm0′ which will prompt a message in your mobile phone to allow or deny the incoming connection and probably a PIN number.

If you get this ‘Connection refused‘ even if you are allowing it and inserting correctly your PIN (the one specified in /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf’), it means that you need a key agent. Anyway check your syslog to see if this is what it’s going wrong:

So, this mean that what’s going wrong is that you insert any PIN in you phone and the computer doesn’t recognize it so it denies the connection request. If you have the ‘gnome-bluetooth’ package installed it is said that it should prompt a PIN code to insert the same PIN that you inserted in your phone but, at least for me, it’s not working. The solution? Use bluetooth-agent which sadly doesn’t have any man page so I had to do several tests in order to make it work.

What you have to do before trying to connect using ‘rfcomm’ is telling the bluetooh agent which PIN are you going to use, so run:

And after that try to connect:

There you are!, you’ve finally paired your devices!. Now, the rest of the process is quite easy. Edit ‘/etc/wvdial.conf’ as following:

You might have to make some changes if you’re using a different network operator like phone number, username, password and the Init3 part where here it says “grps-service.com”. For the first one contact your operator, and for the following check in your mobile phone: tools -> settings -> connection -> access points, and choose the one you’re using to see the correct values.

Now we’re done, just run ‘wvdial SIMYO’, wait until the negotiation finishes and enjoy checking your e-mail or surfing the web:

De acordo com uma pesquisa da AdMob, o iPhone é responsável pela geração do maior tráfego de internet móvel. A empresa autora do levantamento cria anúncios para mais de 9 mil sites e possui 3 mil aplicativos na web móvel.

Em agosto, 40% dos acessos à internet por dispositivos móveis foram feitos por iPhones. Há seis meses, essa porcentagem era de 33%. Usuários do Android responderam por 7% dos acessos aos sites da AdMob, enquanto que em fevereiro esse índice era de 2%.

Aparelhos da Nokia com Symbian apresentaram queda de 43% em fevereiro e 34% em agosto. Os BlackBerrys ficaram com 8%, enquanto que o Windows Mobile saiu de 7% em fevereiro para 4% no último levantamento. O Palm Pre respondeu por 4% dos acessos em agosto.

Além disso, a AdMob mede o volume de tráfego que cada modelo produz. A Nokia possui 12 entre os 20 aparelhos que mais trafegam dados na web móvel. Mas o primeiro lugar do ranking é do iPhone, seguido pelo G1, (primeiro celular com Android do mercado) e pelo Nokia N70. Três modelos de BlackBerry aparecem na lista, mas nenhum aparelho com Windows Mobile está entre as 20 primeiras colocações.

Is it really as free as you think?

Lately I have been sending messages to outside of the country, mostly because my contract told me that I was free to make texts and calls internationally – and they didn’t lie to me, much. When I got my bill after a month of messaging I was hit with an extra ₤5 or so, not too bad, even if it wasn’t 100% free.

However, the problem arised, as you might have already guessed, that the person I was sending the texts to was charged around an extra ₤120. Assuming around half of that was their texts, the price of my texts was around ₤60 – ₤70. This wouldn’t be so bad if I was really horrible and didn’t help them pay for it, though! Possibly an awesome way to grief someone that you don’t like, send them lots of texts. Maybe it does help to keep your enemies closer.

My problem now is, finding a mobile company where I actually get to send texts internationally without it costing a bomb for me, or the person I’m sending to. The only alternative I can think of regarding this might be something like mobile broadband. This, however, would require me to be able to send and receive emails through Hotmail directly into my phones inbox.

Edit: As of writing this post I decided to try and set up email again, and since last time I tried (years ago), Hotmail works now. The only problem being the 2.5k spam emails that I usually ignore, not too great for my phone bill! Yeah, I know I should have deleted them.

Personally, I think the difference in costs between getting a phone capable of international calls and getting one capable of that and email is quite interesting.

N’ayant jamais eu l’occasion de le voir de prés ce fameux zala computer ,premiere vue superbe outil pour un superviseur que je suis ,une boite a outils sous Windows XP Familiale .

Pourquoi ne pas le mieux protéger contre la mauvaise manipulation ,téléchargement a jour des spywares des freeware des keys des virus tout simple passez a une distribution open source mais laquelle tout simplement ne pas changez de OS déja utilisé de ma part  “Ubuntu 8.10″

Mais la c’est un probleme pas de CDROM ,bon bref logique le CDROM est un accessoire allez voir combien ca coute .

Premiere Etape : création de la clé USB a partir d’un autre PC muni de votre CDROM Ubuntu 8.10 ou 9.04 ou si vous voulez un UNR Ubuntu Remix .

deuxieme Etape : Mettre la cle usb ,Démarrez le menu et suivez le guide (une connexion internet est necessaire ) et oui comment voulez que canonical calcul ses téléchargement sinon la solution la plus apprecié est celle du  serveur de depots chez soi ,ou un Serveur PXE a vous de voir la meilleure solution .

Troisieme etape : j’ai sauté de 8.10 a la 9.04 ,donc je vous conseille la 9.04 vu que j’etais confronté au pilote wifi mais avec 9.04 de ce coté la OK .

Etape Suivante : apprendre les outils utiles pour son Netbook , client messagerie,agenda ,connexion sans fils dans des endroits public in challah ou des endroits d’echanges a tous les niveaux (pas dans des cafés) ,a la plage ,dans le metro d’alger dans 30 ans . ce qui est certain que ce type outil peut etre a la portée qui savent apprecié l’évolution pas la révolution .

Copie d’écran Phpsysinfo , je le n’est pas pris en photo pas d’appareil sous la main sinon je vais etre un photographe qui ne rate rien vu que l’insolite est plus que présent dans le quotidien .

la jusqu’a ici on a rien appris sauf suivre les étapes d’une installation a la clé .

Probléme rencontrés: Carte Son HDA Intel pas encore reconnu ou pas encore configuré de ma part . pas de sujet dans ce sens ,je posterais sur le forum vu que ce petit bijoux  n’est pas le mien mais a une personne qui cherchez de la stabilité dans son OS ,trop déçu par tous les windows qui rode dans le coin .
