In a new interview with the Belfast Telegraph, Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle speaks out about her bandmate Cheryl Cole:

What about all the media speculation about rivalry with Cheryl Cole, who recently released her own solo debut?

“Cheryl’s my friend,” she says, sounding a little exasperated by what must now be a predictable question.

“We’re both singers; we’ve both wanted to do our own stuff for a long time and it will completely different from each other.

“There’s no rivalry. As soon as Cheryl’s album came out, I rushed to buy it — she’s my friend and I was like ? ‘Woo hoo, brilliant! My mate’s got a record out’.

I have to say, when I first listened to Cheryl’s debut solo album, I wasn’t keen, I really wasn’t. I’ve listened to it all week now and LOVE IT. It’s definitely a grower. Just give it a chance if you felt the same. I mean, I’m a massive Girls Aloud fan so there was always going to be the painful comparison of Cheryl on her own without the girls…. it wasn’t ever going to be the same. But hell, it’s not half bad, not half bad at all! Alas, I degress, 3 Words is one of the songs I was finding myself humming and singing, badly. So it’s quite nice that this is Cheryl’s follow up single to Fight For This Love.

In the 3 Words video, Cheryl takes on three ‘personas’: her usual Hollywood glamour look with big big hair, a blunt brunette bob and unusually her final look is a gaga inspired platinum blonde style. It’s definitely fair to say Cheryl looks best with her brunette locks!

Anyone who thought Cheryl Cole’s marriage to footballing ace Ashley Cole was in its death throes, may have to think again.

Hot-footing it from her X Factor judging duties, and with no time to change, the 26-year-old proudly stepped out with her husband to celebrate Girls Aloud bandmates Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh’s birthday.

Cheryl ensured everyone got an eyeful of her sparkling diamond engagement ring which has been noticeably absent in recent Saturday night shows sparking rumours of a split.

It’s not the first time the chart-topping singer’s been forced to prove all is well in the Cole household following a recent public spat.

Just this month she posted a picture of herself on Twitter wearing the £160,000 rock, saying “3 words. Diamonds Are Forever”.

And forever was the image she was clearly trying to portray at last night’s gathering at Sarah Harding’s club in London’s Farringdon.

The party was in honour of Sarah and Kimberley who turned 28 within three days of each other.

And despite their advancing years, the girls showed no signs of slowing down, partying until the early hours.

The only one missing from the group was Nadine Coyle, who’s currently working on her solo album in America.

But there was plenty of other friends on hand to get the party started.
The Sugababes arrived, in what seemed to be the uniform of the evening – the little black dress.

Heidi Range opted to accesorize with a chain belt while Jade Ewen went with a more layered look.

So it was left to Girls Aloud stars Nicola Roberts and Cheryl Cole to brighten up the evening.

Nicola’s fluorescent pink dress was a particular head-turner along with her matching strappy stillettoes.

Others making on the guest list included choreographer Brian Friedman and socialite Hofit Golan.

So how to go about getting super skinny then?  Well I have a wee bit of a plan knocking around in this old cranium of mine …here it is. 

Eat less energy than I expend -consistently, every day, for a long while.

Sounds easy peasy!  Could do it in my sleep! …I may well be eating my words in a month or so – in fact may be soo hungry in a month or so that eating my words sounds very very apetising yummy! mmm words! Delicious

So how do college girls get slim?  What a thing to ponder…

But first, my vital statistics (shudder), here goes…

I am 5′6 and weigh just over  11 and a half stone, that’s around about 165lbs. Heavy!

My ultimate goal weight is 110lbs, or roughly 7 and a half stone. Featherweight!

My problem is this, whilst 5′6 stars such as Nadine Coyle weigh in at 7.7 stone and look fantastic for it, I dont look really rolly polly chubby even at my personal heffer weight.  I know for a girl that I am mighty strong.  That is all thanks to a childhood of climbing indoor rock walls and playing lots of golf (which gives you muscly shoulders, – oh soo ladylike).  Due to this I carry all my weight on my dormant muscle tissue which holds it tighter to my body and stops me being as wobbly as other woman may be at my height and weight.  Lucky ol me! 

…Er no im built like a shotput thrower, but with absolutely zero stamina, seriously – cant even run around the block!  Pretty cripplingly pathetic eh?!

Regardless i’m twenty now, aging has begun and I can feel myself getting squishier and squishier.  If I dont do something now prior to the twenty something demands of desk job, mortgage, and babies, kicking in then I shall be plump for all eternity …nooooo! 

Plus i’m twenty years old!  Whether you like it or not we young’uns are geared up well and trully for lots of sex in our twenties, and -well, its a sad day when your flipping through your boyfriends FHM magazine (at twenty years old) and covering up all of your own lumpy bits in shame.  I hate feeling like that and I am going to make a change. 

I have done everything society has ever asked of me, gone to school, respected my parents wishes, kept a civil tongue in my head etc. Now, continuing that fashion, I am going to do something else society is always asking it’s young woman to do… become more beautiful!  …See …its only logical!

So whilst 110lbs may seem an extreme to some, for me right now, it’s a goal.  If I loose my boobs at 120lbs I WILL STOP!  Plus Nadine Coyle just looks fantastic all of the time, and I love her accent, reminds me of my mummy who’s Nothern Irish too!  Sadly my mummy did not pass Nadine Coyle-esq like genes on to me, but I know she did her level best trying!  Ohh plus Hilary Duff, I love her recent fitness regime type look…

‘I just need to look more tonned!  …she mulled to herself whilst typing away at half two in the morning, very happy with how this new blog is shaping up! Should I go to my 9am lecture tomorrow?  Whadawethink? Bah! The blog! Sorry folks, daydream!’

Anyhoo how do college girls loose 55lbs? 

We google “loose weight quick” into google then buy all the crappy fad stuff, duh! 

…I’m Lazy …Remember?!

So what did I find?  Hoodia, Colon Cleanse and Acai all came up, so basically varients on the “Shit Yourself Slim!” diet.  Great I thought, I can spend the next four months strapped to a toilet seat, no bother at all!  Its not like I have a life or anything!

Regardless I plan to buy a litle Acai Berry stuff at the store tomorrow and I already have some Hoodia, don’t know if you can take them together – im sure it will be fine!  As for Colon Cleanse, might buy some laxatives but honestly at this stage of the game thats verging a wee bit too close to eating disorder teritory, and to have an eating disorder spotted at 165lbs is pretty bloody unlucky, not to mention unlikely!

So Workouts, Supplements, and Diet. 

• THE WORKOUT:  Body Doctor, Running, Yoga/Meditation, Pilates

• SUPPLEMENTS: Complete Vit, Acai, Hoodia

• DIET:

OK, DIET IS A BIGGY,     I Plan to basically…

• eat only eggs/fruit/cereal/veg/salad for breakfast and lunch
• lean protein snacks for post workout
• eat very dark chocolate if I crave it (I hate dark chocolate)
• Give up refined sugars/cookies/pastries/even cheesecake!
• Eat grilled not fried!
• Stop eating bread
• Eat wholegrain
• Eat lots of rabbit food
• Eat/drink soy products NO MORE DAIRY, NO CHEESE
• Eat lots more fish at dinner time
• Eat lots of grilled chicken and turkey
• No red meat
• Shop at the market for my veggies because its cheaper!
• Plan my meals
• Drink Miso Soup
• Drink Green Tea
• Smoke a lot of ciggarettes to make up for being sooo good!

Now I am still awake because I ate the last of my unhealthy food tonight which unfortunately involved 6 massive mince pies, so im pretty sure im already on the road of the “Shit Yourself Slim” diet.  But anyhoo, Im going to be healthy tomorrow, cant actually wait to get skinny!  My inspiration is a weeklong holiday to Egypt that I am going on with a friend in February, so I want to look lovely and tonned for that!  I also want to get my bellybutton peirced (how very nineties of me) but at twenty years old, I think it will encourage me to keep doing the situps, as it possibly hurts more than doing a situp!

Anyway, thats the plan, it starts tomorrow.  November 20th 2009.  Wish me luck imaginary blog readers!

From week one of the XFactor LIVE shows style icon, Cheryl Cole, proved to us all that this years XFactor would be all about runway style.

In the first of the live shows Cheryl wore an Altier Versace caged skirt dress – Your perfect party frock this season!

Cheryl can pull of near enough all lengths and widths of skirt, I was perplexed at how she would sit through the show in the dress mind – but hey ho, she managed a-ok!

The caged skirt look is a style that goes waaaaaaaaaay back to around the Victorian times when a crinoline (caged type structure) was added under a skirt to give volume and a very definite shape. This style was thought of as upper class and very feminine. The caged skirt is back in fashion, this time worn over the skirt so you are able to see the structure itself – clever ;o

I’ve had a scout about and found ASOS were the current stockist to go to for this seasons shape.

It’s probably just as well that Cheryl Cole was decked out in military garb when she appeared on The X Factor recently — she’s set for the mother of all chart smack-downs with none other than Irish Girls Aloud pal Nadine Coyle.

Glitter and eye-liner are set to fly as the band mates get ready to square off. In one corner is Cole, Britain’s so called ‘Angel of the North’; in the other, Derry-raised Coyle, widely acknowledged to be the real vocal talent in Girls Aloud. It’s like Blur vs Oasis, with better dancing and — so the gossip industry hopes — lashings of extra bitchiness.

Rumours of strained relations between the two are rife. It’s been widely reported that Coyle isolated herself from her Girls Aloud band mates by relocating to Los Angeles several years ago.

And while the rest of the group were in studio to cheer on Cole’s X Factor performance, Nadine was too busy putting together her own solo album, set for release early in 2010, to attend — a slight at which Cole is said to have been a little miffed.

Of course, you can hardly blame Cole for wanting to outshine her band mate. For the entire history of Girl’s Aloud she’s had to play second banana to Coyle and her human-hairdryer vocals. In concert, Girls Aloud have all but become a Nadine solo show. When they played Dublin earlier this year, it was Coyle who hoovered up all the attention — with “Chezza” and company reduced to glorified backing singers.

Then again, Cole is clearly far more adept at the dark arts of self-promotion. With Coyle out of the picture in LA, she has been cannily building an alternative career as national sweetheart. Stepping in for Sharon Osbourne as an X Factor judge, Cole has demonstrated that her true talent may lie in her ability to spontaneously blub in front of the TV cameras — scarcely a week goes by without Cole bursting into tears, usually because she’s just got into a tiff with Simon Cowell again (oddly, little of that wholesomeness is evident when she lays into Dublin twins John and Edward Grimes).

With war clouds gathering, Cheryl has been first out of the traps with a 300,000-selling No.1 single, ‘Fight For This Love’, and a lavishly hyped debut album, 3 Words (“those words being ‘complete effing s***’” quipped at least one reviewer). Seeking to put a slinked- up cyber-babe twist on her wholesome image, Cole has also been vamping it up for the cameras — critics have derided her attempt to come across all Lady GaGa as resembling nothing more than a very expensive aerobics video.

Simultaneously, she’s been hard at work manicuring her media profile, speaking at length about her difficult childhood, her family’s multiple battles with alcohol and drug addiction and her own determination never to fall into the same trap. Not that she really needs to lay it on quite so thick — ever since it was suspected that husband Ashley Cole might be following in the long tradition of love-rat footballers, Cole has been able to count on the sympathy of the UK population.

That’s despite a tempestuous past. In 2003, she was convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm after a tussle with a nightclub attendant in Guildford (the attendant claimed Cole had racially abused her — something she denied and of which she was cleared by the court). Nothing in her career has been more remarkable than her success in turning her image around. One newspaper hailed her as ‘the Vera Lynn of our times’, a reference to Britain’s cherished wartime singer who raised national spirits during The Blitz.

Coyle, in contrast, has been notably low key. In part, that’s understandable considering she lives on the other side of the world and is very much focusing on the US market (her first release, a cover of Take That’s ‘Back for Good’ recorded with Philadelphia r’n'b group Boyz II Men, has already been leaked on the internet while a Twitter posting revealed she was working with Katy Perry/Aerosmith songwriter Desmond Child). Whether focusing on the music and leaving the job of buttering up the media to her record label’s PR department pays off remains to be seen.

If the two have anything in common, it’s a chequered romantic life. Back when she was plain old Cheryl Tweedy from the wrong side of the tracks in Newcastle, Cole dated a sometime drug user, who subsequently sold his story to the tabloids, claiming that his ex-girlfriend had helped wean him off heroin.

Then there was the controversy about Ashley Cole, accused by the press of going home with a hairdresser after a night on the town (he denied anything untoward had happened — and Cole insisted she believed him, but then stopped wearing her wedding ring for a time).

For her part, Coyle has gone through her share of controversial boyfriends. As a teenager in Derry, she briefly stepped out with the son of future Northern Ireland second minister Martin McGuinness. Later, there was a long-term relationship with another home-town squeeze, Neil McCafferty, a professional soccer player with Northern premier league team Dungannon Swifts.

Following that, she got together with bad-boy actor Jesse Metcalfe, best known for playing hunky gardener John Rowland on Desperate Housewives. A young man in the fast lane, Metcalfe fell prey to some familiar Hollywood vices and entered rehab for alcohol abuse in 2007.

When he was subsequently pictured on the arm of another lady, he was accused of cheating on Coyle. However, in an interview with Miriam O’Callaghan, she insisted the relationship had already ended. She’s since hooked up with American footballer Jason Bell, a solid, if slightly dull, opposite to Metcalfe. So, who will win this musical mud-wrestling contest? The smart money — by which we mean the bookmakers — is on Cole. Paddy Power is offering odds of 4/6 that Cole’s debut solo single shifts more units than Coyle’s. “I think when it comes to Cheryl and Nadine, it’s definitely Cheryl who is coming out on top,” says Jennifer Stevens, editor of U Magazine, which has run several cover stories on Cole.

“When the band were together it was automatically assumed that it would be Nadine who would have the bigger solo success, what with actually being able to sing. But Cheryl’s fought hard and her personality, TV presence and friendship with Simon Cowell have all served her very well.

“I guess who is the better singer is irrelevant at this point especially in the world of highly produced pop. And her recent signing as a face of L’Oreal Paris cements her as probably the biggest star in the UK right now. Which doesn’t really leave Nadine with much.

“All she can really hope to do is break the US — the holy grail of celebland, but right now Cheryl is Queen of all and Nadine runs a chain of Irish bars in California and that’s got to hurt.”

Cheryl Cole’s X Factor performance was the most hyped of the year and she didn’t disappoint, with Simon Cowell even describing her rendition of debut solo single Fight For This Love as ‘incredible’.

Simon wasn’t the only one backing Cheryl. Husband Ashley Cole and Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts were there, too.

But why didn’t Nadine Coyle make the trip from LA to support her bandmate? Could it be a sign of the growing rivalry between the pair?

It’s well known that Nadine has the best voice in the group and she’s totally focused on making it as a solo artist.

‘Nadine’s already received rave reviews for her guest vocals on a new Boyz II Men track, a remake of Take That’s Back For Good,’ says our source.

‘Meanwhile, after her performance Cheryl, 26, felt like she was in a daze, saying: ‘It feels like a blur – it took me back to Popstars: The Rivals.’

Girls Aloud = my guilty pleasure

I know Cheryl has her new single out too but I’ve always liked Nadine more! I like this more than the original. Abhor me.

Where is Nadine Coyle’s solo work? It’s resigned to an unfortunate fate of probably-being-better-than-Cheryl’s-but-selling-nowhere-near-as-well, but it’d be nice if it’d appear soon.

This isn’t her solo single, but it is a version of Take That’s ‘Back For Good’ with… wait for it… Boys II Men. STANDARD. Have a listen.

Whether or not this is genuine or a crafty trick using an old recording of Nads or whatever remains to be seen, but it’s at least a nice reminder that Nadine can sing very nicely indeed. Now get on with the album, Coyle.

So tonight saw the premiere of the Cheryl Cole for L’Oreal advert for Elvive Full Restore 5 – and I was stumped! She looks amazing and makes your heart melt with that true ‘Geordie girl next door’ freshness.

My favourite part of the ad HAS TO BE when wor Cheryl says, “Come on girls lets say it… because we’re worth it!“

AMAZING!

Earlier this week I made a complete meal of writing a Cheryl Cole ‘3 Words’ album review for Attitude Magazine. It’ll be published in the next couple of weeks but now any embargoes seem to have been broken here’s my scattered notes I wrote during the first few listens. Obviously this is not an example of my brilliant writing ability – I just know some people will be interested. It took me quite a while to decide if it was amazing / rubbish. There is no middle ground obviously.

First things first – it sound nothing like a Girls Aloud album and contrary to reports there are NO Xenomania tracks. It’s all about being in love and is quite sad. There’s a lot of Will.I.Am and there’s only one utterly dreadful song.

1. Three Words: Strange guitar opening, sounds a bit like Foals, before the bass builds up . Bizzaro. Will.i.Am/Cheryl co-write and Will.i.Am is all over it – it’s a duet! The three words are indeed ‘I Love You’. Very brave opening track. “It wasn’t complicated, wasn’t pre-meditated, to you I’m dedicated.” Anthem for Chuck & Blair.

2. Parachute: Awesome military drumming. Cheryl sounds sad. About a secret love ‘I won’t tell anyone your voice is my favourite sound’. Her love is the parachute that will catch her if she falls. Nice, strong 90s rnb chorus. Brilliant little pointing finger breakdown “I won’t fall out of love.”

3.Heaven: Another wibbly electro Will.I.Am song and he’s on it again. Most annoying bit is Cheryl totally aping his accent and singing ‘My heaven’s with you’ as ‘My heaven wit you’. No need. Best bit – Will I Am sounds like he’s telling Cheryl she’s immature at one point.

4. Fight For This Love: Best song on the album. The drums on this are amazing now. SOLDIER.

5. Rain On Me: Madonna-ish, teeters along before you have some very odd synthesised oboe (?!) sounds and it blows off into a big midtempo dance chorus. Tears in my eyes while raving kind of affair. Not a will i am track so no idea who is singing along in the chorus. Co-written by Livvi Franc!

6. Make Me Cry: Nice 70s Chic type of bassline. “Are you trying to make me cry?” Fierce, talk to the hand. Cheryl says shit! Doesn’t really go anywhere but pleasant.

7. Happy Hour: Ridiculous, yet adoreable analogies. Bad boy she needs a taste of, he’s an addiction. Co-written by Priscilla Renae, originally a Rihanna demo. Nice layering up of vocals without any Nadine style warbelling. Type of song I think Cheryl would sing along to in the shower. Middle Eastern vibes – K-Ci & Jojo esque piano topline. “Some days I can be sweet and some I’m sour, but I can’t help but drink you up cos you’re my happy hour.” 2nd best song.

8. Stand Up: The only upbeat song, only one that doesn’t sound like Cheryl is the saddest person ever. Taio Cruz penned and he features on it during a rap where he bigs up his advance and his bloody Rokstar shades. Makes me want to crouch to my knees and then fascinatingly ‘Stand Up’ in some kind of never before considered dance routine.

9. Don’t Talk About This Love: Cover of a Nikola Bedingfield song. CUT YOUR EARS OFF AWFUL.

10.Boy Like You: Opens with a sample of Fleetwood Mac ‘Little Lies’. Random. Another Will.i.Am track. Clapping / electro drumbeat. It’s a shoulder wiggler.

11.Heartbreaker: Identical to the single release, no Cheryl mix or anything. Is that FIVE Will.I.Am duets??\

12. Got To Be Real: Amaz-Oh no, this is Cheryl Lynn. Thanks iTunes!

Boyz II Men, one of the greatest vocal groups …ever?? maybe…anyways, they are back with their 3rd covers album, this time titled “Love”; an album covering some of music’s greatest love songs.

This is blatantly one of my fav Take That songs (what? Take That are sick, Gary Barlow is a badderman songwriter….hold tight N Dubz in the studio with him….random…but true)

And then to make this cover even more interesting, this hottie also features on it

I’m a fan (of Nadine, not 100% sure on the cover)…The album’s out November or something…What you think?
