Time for another round-up of what the Family Blud has been getting up to these past few weeks. I apo

Time for another round-up of what the Family Blud has been getting up to these past few weeks. I apologise profusely to my loyal reader for yet another post that just consists of a list of Achievement banner pictures, I hope to get back to writing proper posts, that deal with one topic at a time, very soon! My only excuse is that I have been so busy with Hoof, rushing him around Azeroth chasing several different goals at once, always forgetting to snaps of the crucial moments! WoW is very immersive at times, and I get easily carried along just enjoying the gameplay!

To start with, little Fleur got a couple of the “starter” Achievements some time ago. One of the easiest for a toon to get is Shave and A Haircut;

This can be gotten by visiting a Barber’s shop at any of the Faction capitals, and it is better to do this sooner rather than later in a toon’s life, as the cost scales with level. Could she possibly look any cuter? Also a little while ago, she made it to the first of the quest-related Achievements, with Thrall being the NPC to help make this happen for her;

Fleur has also seen the inside of her second instance! For the most recent Academy run, the venue was the Deadmines in Westfall, and you can read how she got on here. The guild also paid a visit to the Temple of Atal ‘Hakkar in the Swamp of Sorrows, and Hoof’s experience is recounted in this post.

It is Hoof who provides the rest of the activity for the Family, having bagged a wide variety of Achievements on top of those posted about most recently. In order to be able to visit all the Midsummer fires in Outland, he first needed to have all the flight points, so the wee small hours of two Saturdays ago were spent riding around the remains of Draenor picking up all the fp’s he didn’t have. Much to his delight, whilst in Terokkar Forest, who should he run into (and kill!) but none other than Doomsayer Jurim;

This rare Outland spawn is one of a collection of Outland rares, the killing of any one of which awards the Achievement Medium Rare. Quite a few players will have this one, but I wonder how many have made it to Bloody Rare, the much harder accomplishment of killing them all? This is certainly the sort of Achievement that I like to chase after, and indeed I made a suggestion on the Forums a while back that there should be a similar ach created for killing every rare spawn in Old Azeroth – all 300 or so of them! I think that kinda sank without trace though!

As an update, only yesterday whilst travelling through Nagrand, Hoof happened upon this creature swimming in one of the lakes;

It turned out to be Goretooth, another of the sought-after rares;

I know a few people who have gained Medium Rare off this Crocolisk, so maybe he isn’t quite so rare after all! It only took a couple of moments before he was extinct again;

Two down, eighteen to go!

In my last Exploration post, I missed out one area of the Eastern Kingdoms that Hoof visited;

The Isle of Quel’Danas is an instanced zone off the north of the Eastern Kingdoms, and is only accessible from level 66 onwards. Home to dungeons and raids themed after the Shattered Sun Offensive, it is somewhere that Hoof may will visit again in the near future.

Another Achievement gained in Outland;

At long last Hoof had managed to find the remaining type of wreckage pool needed for this ach, the Steam Pump Flotsam, the only one of the five found outside of the Old World, more precisely spawning only in Zangarmarsh.

With all the rep grinding he had been doing recently, Hoof needed to push on with his levelling. The xp bonanza of the Midsummer festival helped a great deal, and a few hours in Northrend finished the job;

A joyous moment indeed, as it meant he could now don the full 8 pieces of Cobalt Armour that he had commissioned, along with a matching shield;

This gear, with its +def bonuses in conjunction with all his other tanking trinkets, has now made him uncrittable by normal level 70 dungeon Bosses! This is perhaps not that uncommon for a Tank at his level, and he still has a few points of Defence to make up in order to be uncrittable by Heroic Bosses, but it is something for which I at least am very proud of him!

Moving on to his Professions, Hoof has not only become a Grand Master in Mining;

but also more recently gained his Grand Mastership in his other primary prof of Herbalism as well, to gain this award;

All this hard work and still no money! That is not quite true, as he has managed to open his seventh bank slot;

It has to be said though that this Achievement has much more to do with his ability to collect trash than his ability to create wealth!

A third Grand Master level has been gained in Cooking;

along with two achs related to the increasing size of his recipe book;

These are awarded for learning 50 and then 75 recipes respectively.

But it hasn’t been all work, work, work for Hoof, last week he was invited to a pug for a raid into Onxyia’s Lair! Joining a group of 14 others, with levels varying from the mid-60s to 80, he made his way to the Wyrmbog in Dustwallow Marsh, and thence into the lair of the Broodmother herself;

The fight went completely by the book, as a lot of those present had already bested the Queen of the Black Dragonflight before, on one or more of their toons (Gutz has taken her down 3 times himself), and I like to think Hoof excelled himself as an Off tank, particularly during the middle phase of the fight, drawing the Whelps off of the Healers. A slow and steady battle ended with the award of the Achievement;

Swift looting once again obscures the award graphic! A brief moment to survey the fallen Boss;

Hoof’s most recent ach has been the gaining of his Journeyman Riding Skill, as he had finally managed to save up the 510 gold needed to pay for the training;

This left him unable to afford the fast mount to go with it, not necessarily a problem in his mind, but his Guild Master Seafield was also ingame at the time, and in a wondrous and much appreciated display of generosity, stepped in and paid for a new fast Kodo! Something to do with being a thank you for all the hard work I put into the Guild blog, though it never seems like anything other than a pleasant task at worse. Naturally Hoof is going to pay this back as soon as possible! Here we see him with Seafield, about to take his Great Brown Kodo for a test run from Blood Hoof Village through the Barrens and Durotar to Orgrimmar;

It certainly is a fast mount! Once again many many thanks to Seafield for helping him join the fast lane!

Till next time, May You Walk With The Ancestors!

Made roughly 10 minutes after midnight on the 16th of November 2008, Jsu was the 2nd DK to make it into outlands on Nagrand EU.

After getting out of the dk starting area and taking my walk of shame through SW i promtly made my way to the Stockade and cleared it making me possibly one of the first dks to do so.. pretty pointless eh.. lol

Jsu started life on Nagrand EU as Avr in my last guild Intensity. But due to a major lack of Raiding in Intensity (I believe they’ve still not done anything other than Naxx 10) and friend’s beconing i moved to Aerie Peak. The name Avr was taken by my hunter (Which i’ll talk about in a later post) so i hit some random keys afew times till i found something i liked.

I had aspirations for my Death Knight to be a tank not long after the class was announced and so far i’ve only strayed from that for situations where i’m not needed but sure as hell you’ll find me DPSing in Tank gear and Tank Spec

I took Mining / Jewelcrafting with my eyes clearly set on Those Solid Dragon’s Eyes

and the Stamina bonus from Mining. Overall i get a whopping 1730 Health from proffesions alone which is handy because that allows me to focus almost everything else on avoidance.

I really enjoy Death Knights but i can not stand knowing i’m playing the most common class in the game and a class which is 90% retarded down syndrome kids. It’s true they are an easy class to play which is why i couldn’t imagine doing anything other than the hardest role in the game, Tank.

Yesterday was a fairly productive day overall. In the afternoon, myself and a few other members of the guild were a little bored…and I decided to dust the cobwebs off my little baby Druid (I made her as a replacement for my old Druid main…and plan for her to be bigger and better than my last one). Cronan was online at the time and I asked him if I could quest with him (my Druid Lileta is in the low 20’s and Cronan is in the high teens) , so the two of us went off to Loch Modan to quest. It wasn’t long till I got something I most certainly wasn’t expecting anytime soon, and was really surprised when I got the point for it:

Then I overheard the rest of my guildies talking about being in Zul’Drak and doing the Ampitheatre quest chain (I hadn’t done it on Lysix yet)…and we needed a healer, so I asked a buddy of mine if he wanted to join us and he said he wanted to. So I got on Lysix and left Lileta in Loch Modan for a little while longer and joined Arassa and Waylored. Kiser tagged along too (even though his poor keyboard is giving him hell at the moment) and my healer friend Alcyonis joined us too. After Arassa then Kiser going AFK for short periods of time, we were all ready to go and get this thing over and done with.

I have to say that is was either fairly easy, or we just had that good of a group. Warrior, paladin, death knight, mage and priest. Yeah, that is a pretty well-rounded group- I’m lucky I have guildies who are very good at playing their classes The exp was amazing from the quest chain, about 32000 for each boss killed and at the end of it….I got a new shiny axe!! I had a choice between four weapons, and the only one I could actually use was De-Raged Waraxe…heck it was a better axe than my Axe of Frozen Death, so I was very happy. Unfortunately, everyone else got the Of Blood And Anguish achievement…and I had never done the Nagrand quests, so with Waylored being a mage he pops up a portal for Shatt and we all go over there.

Things happen, people drop out of the party and in the end it is just me, Arassa and Kiser left in Nagrand and I beg and plead with them to help me get the achievement. Luckily, being my best friends they agree to help me out and so we go to beat up on some more stuff. The Nagrand quests were easy and the three of us managed just fine so I got the achievement. Woohoo!

Afterwards, I went back to questing and into the wilderness of Sholazar Basin. It’s a little bit of a mix between Un’Goro Crater and Nagrand….pretty nice place actually, much better than the depressing scenary of Zul’Drak. There’s only so much I can take looking at death, decay and zombies. If I wanted that, I’d hang around in the Plaguelands. IIn one of the quests, I got to ride on teh back of a giant crocodile and I have to say that it was pretty awesome, I’ve gotten a ride on a lot of cool things here in the Basin…including a mammoth! Now I know what I at least look like on one of those!

I’m currently finishing up a quest line to choose my which side I want to go with; the Frenzyheart Tribe or The Oracles. I really like the Oracles, and I’ve heard that some nifty stuff can hatch out of those eggs they have for sale at their Quartermaster…so that’s what I’m going to go with. Among all this questing, I FINALLY got to 77! So now only three more levels until the fabled Level 80- ehhh, I bet it will be just like when I got to 70 on my druid, not really a whole lot to do. I’ll probably go back to Fiorra when Lysix gets to 80- I gotta have my healer next, and then when she gets to 80- Lileta will be after her. I’ll have the perfect trifecta! Tank, heals and DPS…woohoo!

Talking about Lileta, when I brushed the cobwebs off her she was a level 20 Feral Druid. After some thought, I wanted her to be like Galilyse and be my PvP monster so I respecced her to Balance and after begging Moracon to give me a run through Blackfathom Deeps, I got her almost to 23….thanks Mora!

Oh! And I also got both my mining and my jewelcrafting on Lysix to 200! I know that doesn’t sound like a whole lot, but I’ve been working my butt off at it and so I am pretty happy…considering it’s breaking me financially xD

So, I’ve been caught! Yakra over at Mirror Shield has tagged me in this blog-meme-gone-viral. The Screenshot Wars have come for me. I’ve been watching this fad make it’s rounds and really enoying some of the posts, though I have to admit I was starting to feel like the last kid picked for the dodge ball team.

And without furthur ado, here is my six tags. Glad to feel I am helping to keep the virus alive! I would like to tag:

1. Tigerfeet over at Secret Agent Cat
2. Jive at Bringing the Wood
3. Altoholicmom up in Altaholics Are Us (yes it’s after the fact, but yay for being included!)
4. The Author of Groups of Words. Please! Before you go! And best of luck with your family.
5. Valkure of Valkure Unbound
6. Shieke! You thought you’d get out of this one, didn’t you!!??

Business out of the way, I delved deep into my screenshot folder despite the fact that I never bothered to organize them in any way more complicated than the default chronological order. So I opened up the sixth screenshot in that folder and found that it was back from the days when my better half and I were sharing the same account and he accidentally keybound screenshot to one of the letter keys. I thought I had removed all his screenshot spam, but that one got through. For the record, it was of a VC run, immediately after a wipe, with some PuGed noob saying “can u rez plz??????”

So I didn’t post that one.

Instead I excavated furthur and found the 36th screenshot in my folder. It’s the sixth of the sixth after a fashion, I guess. But I’m happy that I picked that method because I came up with this beauty.

This is shortly after I realized that there was an artform to screenshots. I had started taking them not as a dispassionate, stark record of conversations and events, but as a way to capture mood and feeling and atmosphere. This screenshot is the day Maegwen dinged 70, and myself and a friend taking our brand new wings out for a test drive.

I know that in my first round of leveling to 70, Nagrand was a memorable experience for me. I loved the quests, I loved the savannah-esq look and feel of the place, the spacegoat NPCs made me giggle and I very quickly became enamaroued of the talbuks (goat-raffes). I used to look up into the broken sky of Nagrand with longing, waiting for the day I would be able to take flight and make my way up to explore the floating shattered remnants of the land and the diaphanous, ethereal hanging waterfalls. So once I finally obtained my wings, I headed like a homing pigeon for the floating islands of Nagrand.

Maegwen isn’t the only person in this screenshot. Her companion is the rogue Cyclonus. Looking at this screenshot I was able to not only reflect on the way that the visual splendor of TBC initally affected me, but also on the life cycle on friendships in WoW and perhaps friendships in general. If you look close at this shot, neither Cyc nor I are wearing Impossibilium tabbards. This is us in our Sempiterna incarnation – one of the two guilds that merged to become Imposs. Cyc is a real-life pal of the person who initially formed Sempiterna. At this point in the life cycle of the guild, that person had retired from guild leading and I was in charge, so it was nice to see someone like Cyc sticking by me as my fledgling leadership struggled to soar despite it’s down and pinfeathers.

I like to have one of those people who is always online as an officer, or an officer’s advisor. Typically this means there is always someone around to solve problems, to talk to people, to observe and report on guild conditons to the rest of the officers and to grab stuff from the guild bank for folks. Cyc filled this role nicely, as well as being a generally friendly, helpful, caring sort of person. Our guild at the time was very much not a hardcore, progression focused sort of place, so a genial, open officer base was a good thing for us. Our guild had its factions however, and through the ups and downs of guild development, Cyc was always someone I considered to be on “my” side. When I felt that the balance of power was tipping beyond my control, I felt safe knowing that through thick and thin, Cyc at least would always be a voice for my PoV. Maybe not the healthiest relationship for a guild leader and an officer, but one that was a nice security blanket for me nonetheless.

Cyc also lives quite close to me, though in another city. He was the first Azerothian that I met up with outside of the game, which was a big leap of faith for someone as staunchly misanthropic as I am. He stuck with me and with the guild through a great deal of drama and through our merger and subsequent re-inventions. Over the years that we knew each other, we developed a close friendship that was rooted in WoW, but had branched through other areas of our lives and leafed out into something much more robust. He visited me here in my city several times and became a good family friend. He crashed at my parent’s house once or twice. He even gave me a cat!

But everything in this world has a life cycle. Cyc was involved in a bad car accident, and because of that and the complications it caused in his life, he spent alot of time away from WoW. I started a new job and had less time for all forms of socialization. He went back to school after he had recovered from his injuries and spent even more time away from the guild. Our goals and interests diverged. The guild changed and grew. Members came and went and Imposs was not the place that either of us remembered.

Because I was actively involved in the guild, I was – for the most part -able to roll with the changes. Becaues the time that Cyc spent in game was intermittant, when he did reconnect with us from time to time, he did not see a guild that he knew. He saw a house that stood where his old home was, filled with people he didn’t know, doing things he didn’t identify with or even understand. Our friendship, our connection to each other had drifted, and rather than chaging and growing, it had dissolved. These are things that happen to everyone at one time or another, and it’s saddening for me to examine our friendship in retrospect and see that its life span is done.

Sometimes closure comes quietly, summing up an episode in your life with quiet, almost karmic neatness. Sometimes the end of a point in your life becomes a ragged, ugly sore that refuses to heal. It was the latter that characterises the end of my friendship with Cyc and the end of his time with Imposs. He dealt with the changes to the guild by being angry and bitter, chaging himself from an officer and a leader to a demanding martinet. Everything that was said, every change that the guild underwent became a deep and personal insult to the guild he used to know, the guild he had helped to build. And I was so involved with my job and my home life and forging ahead with our plans to become an ever better raiding guild, that I wasn’t as understanding about his confusion and sense of dislocation as I could have been.

I don’t even know the full story of what happened to Cyc. I don’t know where he’s living right now, how school and work has been to him, how his family and his pets are. I do know that he turned control of his account over to his brother, and then he quietly /gquit late one evening. I wish him all the best, and I am regretful that someone who brought so much to the formation and foundation of this guild could not have grown with it in a way that benefited both the guild and the player.

I don’t mean to be morose. I look back on all of the friendships I have had with all of the players I have met with great fondness, even those that ended sourly. Everyone I have known and interacted with has been a factor in creating the player and the leader I am today.

There are places I’ll remember
All my life though some have changed.
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain.
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall.
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all.

The Shaman (78) saunters across the makers playground in search of wee beasties to feed his ever hungry guild. Skins are harvested by axe, mace, dagger and fist weapon, a moment of conflict and then the peace of yet another successful hunt. Unsuspecting beasts from the gentle long-neck to the vicious proto-drake fall in a flurry of blows. Alone but for the ghostly wolves that lope at her side, and the occasional elemental servant summoned to assist, she is master of all she surveys. A veritable weapon master, a whirling dervish of death she stands unchallenged, INVINC.. *SPLAT* …… “damn rogues”.

The Warlock (65) master of demonic forces and destructive energies, meanders across the gentle slopes of Nagrand like death itself has come to this land. It is a purposeless journey, and along the way animal and humanoid alike feels the touch of Fel energies and seconds later is cast into the bottomless darkness of final death. Glee fills orcish eyes as demonic agents rend flesh, and souls are casually ripped apart. This is where he comes to relax in the peace and [Curse of Agony] [Corruption] [Shadow Bolt] [Shadow bolt] sudden stillness of the verdant plains. There isn’t a soul to bother him, at least not any more, and he can stop to pick the flowers at his leisure. All is well for the orc, nothing can stand in his *YANK* *SPLAT* ….. “damn death knights”.

The Paladin (72), wielder of the light and reluctant protector of all that is good stands uncomfortably on the shores of Northrend. It has been a long journey to get here, and the knowledge that he and his entire order have been manipulated, despite the good intentions, does not sit well with him. At the heart of this land lies Arthus, and without he and the other blood knights this abomination will bring death to his beloved city and his people once more. Silvermoon must be protected, the pinnacle of magical and cultural development can not be snuffed out by a pathetic human, no matter how much necromantic energy swells their power. Yet this new land irks him, the primitive garb he has been forced to scavenge is but a poor reflection of the glorious gear liberated in outlands, his crystal hammer replaced by crude axe as he seeks to carve a path to the foot of the frozen throne. Soon he will…. *STAB*… huh? *STAB* *STAB* *STAB* *STAB* “light damned backstabbing rogues can’t even wait the 5 minutes it takes to cut this opponent down”. *STAB* *STAB* He mutters a sigh and [Divine Shield] [Holy Light] leaves the area before the unexpected conflict causes him to perspire excessively.

Animated by fell necromancy, embraced by unholy power, the Death Knight (61) drives across the tormented wastes of Hellfire Peninsular. Any that stand in her path fall, those that move aside are left unharmed. She is not here to bring simple slaughter, as soothing as that would be, there is a purpose here. She carves a path towards acceptance, to earn her place within the horde so that they might, in turn, clear her a path to Arthus so she can repay him for his ‘gift’ of unending torment. There is no mercy here, nothing but determination and … *YANK* *CLANG* “oh look another Death Knight (65) volunteers to feed this homicidal rage” [Strangulate] [Icy Touch] [Plague Strike] [Blood Strike] “don’t flee brother” … [Death Grip]… [Blood Strike] [Scourge Strike] … a burning desire for revenge in her march to the Ice Crown Citadel.

There we have the progression of my big four.

Enhancement Shaman, unstoppable PvE machine.

Demonic Warlock, unstoppable PvE machine.

Protection Paladin, completely stoppable.

Unholy Death Knight, unstoppable machine.

I have loved all the QQ going on about how OP the death knight is, and where does all this whine originate? The Rogues of course. The only class with the RP and mechanics to make ganking their No. 1 game activity have finally got competition. No longer can they see a red bar (be it eating in a secluded location, engaged in combat with multiple combatants, or motionless as their player contemplates the map) and be guaranteed of free honor points.

Loving this new expansion

Well, Drek’thar is our next focus on Shaman of Note, where we look at important Shaman in Warc

Well, Drek’thar is our next focus on Shaman of Note, where we look at important Shaman in Warcraft Lore. As opposed to important Shaman in the Super Mario Universe. The events of the great Wars of Azeroth revolve greatly around him, and being Thrall’s teacher means that Drek is one of the heavy hitters of WoW lore, right up with the Menthals and Proudmoores.

Drek’thar’s story starts pretty much when the Orcs of Draenor were standing at a very dark place. He, like Thrall, was part of the Frostwolf Clan. Unfortunately, unlike the wise father of Thrall Durotan, he was ready to go a-kill’n those lousy Draenei on the say-so of another major Shaman, Ner’zuhl (being influenced by Kil’jaden, the guy who we prevent from coming to Azeroth in the Sunwell Plateau). He started playing around with Demons, multi-classing in that way that only major lore characters can. Damn them.

With Durotan’s no-no to drinking the Blood which made the other orcs all koo-koo for cocca puffs they get rejected by the others, and shoved once they go to Azeroth to a remote, barren wasteland in the Alterac Mountains, renowned for it’s swiss cheese. Eventually, when Ogrim Doomhammer took over the Blackrock Clan (the leaders of the Orcs at the time), Drek’thar got him to understand that Ner’zuhl was bad news. Sadly, this détente didn’t work out – Durotar and Thrall’s mom got ganked by Doomhammer, and Drek became the head of the Frostwolves. Promotions aren’t always fun.

Fast forward. Thrall, thought dead with his parents, but actually saved by Admiral Blackmoore, returns to his people’s homeland. It was Drek that allowed Thrall to do that annoying multi-class thing with his Warrior training and his inherent Shamanistic powers. After working to free the orcs who were interred after the end of the second war, Thrall took Doomhammer’s Black Plate armor, and became Warchief of the new Horde, the job he holds until your Alliance raid takes him down for the achievement in Wrath.

After helping Big T set up Ogrimmar and the new Orc/Troll homelands, he bounced around Kalimdor for a while. Eventually, he returns back to the Alterac Mountains, where a troublesome group of Dwarves have started mining, calling themselves the Stormpike. And thus, we get the Alterac Valley battleground, where Drek’thar is the general the Alliance can defeat to win the event. Those Horde-members willing can also find him as part of a questline in Nagrand in the Outlands, where he accompanies Thrall as he sees his homeland for the first time.

If you’d like more info on the Horde’s premier old blind shaman, the WowWiki page was the basis of this article, as well as the novel Lord of the Clans.

I’m getting back into the swing of writing. Let me know what else you’d like to see, and we can work on providing it. I’ll admit right now my WoW playing is very light, with classes starting plus, I’m honestly trying to not burn myself out before Wrath. So get going with some ideas!

Ansonsten einfach in den See rein, da gibts etliche “Seegeister”.

Vorteile im See:

1.) Ohne Flugmount erreichbar.
2.) Sehr viele Seegeister, die die begehrten Partikel fallen lassen.

Unterwasseraufnahme:

I’ve just had probably the most productive day of my WoW playing career.

Made it to 375 Mining over in Nagrand, quested up to 45%+ of 68, and hit 330 J/C. Great day, to say the least.

However, the best part of the day was when I got Enchantrix working again; I finally brought myself to vendor some useless greens, and, along with the gold i’ve been making on AH today, I cleared about 200g just today. Definitely a good day by any standards.

Incidentally, my gold total is now at about 525: this means EPIC MOUNT TIME! YAAAAAAAAAAAY!

We had a run for an hour or so, and then found Kara impossible to complete. Not because of lack of skill, but because of a Instance Lockout. The delay cost us 1+hrs, and really derailed me for a while afterward.

But almost all the group was able to come back, and we cleared a few more bosses (Maiden and Nightbane). Its all badges for most of the guys, but I scored some gear for Tanking and off-spec too.

It was strange to think that while the lockout was in affect our toons were trapped in Karazhan. Made me think of those poor guys playing in Dalran who have been locked in a bubble for centuries. I’d really like to see inside Dalran and what the Kirin Tor have survived to become.
