My original plan had been to use pink and white, but most of my pinks are super-bright or glittery, so I decided to go completely the other way and do black and blue. And matte it, just to sweeten the deal.

I started with a blue base, stamped over the tips on a diagonal with BM-312 (I really liked the pattern but it was clearly not meant for the whole nail, took me a while to figure out what to do with it!) and then painted the bottom with the same silvery black that I stamped with. When that was dry, I added blue striping tape and matted the end result. On my accent nail, I added blue caviar beads (securing them with quickdry polish rather than nail glue…it might not last as long but it took me a fully 40 minutes to get the nail glue off to do this mani! Yuck!) and coated that nail yet again with matte top coat.

So, what do you think? Here we have caviar, striping tape, and stamping in one go. I’m a fan!

I decided to make some cute, cheerful spring nails inspired by Flower Fairies of the Spring by Cicely Mary Barker. I loved the Flower Fairies books growing up! They were filled with beautiful illustrations of fairies and gardens, and some of them had cute stories.

I love this look – it’s so simple and requires no nail art skills, yet it looks so striking!

Today I have another nail art tutorial for you. leopard print was one of the first nail art designs i tried and is one of my go to looks, it can be done with some many colours and many variations. This is the newest variation I have come up with. It is a matte peach base with blue glitter on the ring finger and thumb , the other fingers are bright matte pink. This is a great spring/summer nail look that loos like you have made an effort but is pretty simple.

How I Achieved this

L-R No7 Stay Perfect Nail Polish in Betty Blues, Barry M Nail Paint in Blue Glitter,Pink Flamingo,Peach Melba and Essie Matte About You

1. Apply the peach colour to the thumb and ring finger. To the rest apply the bright pink . Use two coats if needed.

2. Once dry apply a matte top coat

3. Apply dots of blue glitter to the thumb and ring finger

4. Using a thin nail art brush or orange stick to paint C’s around the dots to form the leopard print

 And thats the look complete

For this look you can use any colours you want , just adapt it to what you have and what you like.

I went with a mix of the suggestions, all except animal print. I used Pocket Money Polishes suggestion of Barry M ‘Lychee’, Elise’s suggestion of birthstone nails and Helen’s party glitter idea.

This is what I came up with…

I chose to do a glitter gradient like I have done previously on the lychee polish because it works so well with the dress I plan to wear! I would have preferred to do a silver glitter gradient ideally because there are silver sequins on my dress, but I still haven’t found the perfect silver for gradients!

My glequin nail is emerald green – my birthstone.

It’s not too different to my previous pedi really. What do you think?

Of course mine doesn’t look as good as her’s but I’m quite pleased of how it’s looking even though I like the colors she used better than mine. The colors I used are the following:

Both colors in the middle (mint green and grey) I mixed to make a nice greeny gray, because the grey on it’s own was too dark in my opinion and it didn’t look that well with the other colors.

So, first off, I have NO idea how to work with caviar beads, and I just don’t like the way they look. Second, I went way overboard on glittery things.

Honestly, the only thing I LIKE bout this mani was the middle finger…and then, I liked it better after the pink star at the top fell off! (It lasted for all of 8 hours before beginning to fall off).

Oh well. I’ll keep playing with these 3D bits, but maybe put a few less on each nail! Certainly I’ll be going lighter on the caviar in the figure.

The blue color is I Need a Refresh-Mint by Wet n’ Wild. I still love that brush!

I painted all my nails in 2 coats of the mint green colour first. All colours used for this design are by Barry M.

Then using a larger dotting tool I made a flower design on each nail using the darker pink colour.

Afterwards I used a smaller sized dotting tool to add a lighter pink flower shape over the top of the darker flowers.

Then I used a nail art brush to add some flicks in a dark green for leaves and added a little gem to the middle of each flower for some extra effect.

I then finished the whole thing off with my topcoat. I’m quite pleased with how this one came out and think the colours look great together.

I have never really documented the step by step process before, mainly due to the fact I just wing it and make up each nails design as I go along. Today was another step forward. Seeing as I love nail art so much, I don’t know why this never dawned on me before.

Here is my first step by step nail art guide. This week (oh yes its gonna be a weekly feature) I show off my florals!

I also did this design on my other hand. But I used different colours.

It rained and rained the whole day today and all my plans of doing a style shoot had to be kept on hold. Am I pissed? Well, not really. I am, in fact a bit relieved to have gotten rid of the heat and humidity (the flip side of a tropical climate) at least temporarily. So I decided to sit at home and try out a new nail art.

I recently got this new gold nail color and was thinking of using it a bit creatively. I am feeling more creative than ever since the day the very talented Caitie from The Faeries Stole my Socks nominated my illustration blog Creative Logbook for the Liebster Blog Award. Thank you so much, Caitie! You are so kind. This is the third time I got this nomination and I feel so honored. I am trying to show a bit of my arty skills here as well. So the nails are my canvas today

This DIY nail art is simpler than it seems. I painted a black base and used gold for the patterns. I did not have a very thin nail brush so I used a needle to create the droplet pattern. It took quite some time to finish one hand and I obviously cannot do the other one all by myself. So I do see limitations in this design. May be I will try this art in my toe nails.

Supplies needed:

• Nail art striping tape (Look on Amazon very inexpensive and works great!)
• Scissors
• 3 colors any nail polishes ( I used Rimmel’s Black Satin, Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear Coral Reef and Pacific Blue)
• Base coat
• Top coat
• Tweezers

The important thing I have to say is that it really only takes 5 easy steps-ANYONE can do it! They look more complex and difficult than they actually are and I totally encourage you to try it. I personally really like this design because it gives you the flexibility to pick whatever colors you want to use. . .the only thing you have to consider is that the polishes you use will cover the colors- so the lighter ones would be applied first and darker last. A very important tip: MAKE sure to dry totally and completely before you do each step!

I got some Model’s Own nail beads for my birthday from one of my friends and I couldn’t wait to recreate the Nailasaurus’ studded look. Next on my list is actual caviar nails, but I feel like I want something special to wear them to.

I was just going to buy some mint nail varnish when this colour, NYC Lexington Yellow, caught my eye and I couldn’t resit buying it. I love the stamping over the top, geometric is in at the moment, it looks a bit bumble bee-esque but I quite like that about it, it’s very summery.

This was the mint polish I had meant to buy, it’s MUA’s Pistachio Ice Cream. I love the new Essie knock-off style bottles, as the old MUA style lid was really hard to hold. The formula of this was pretty good, I’m wearing three coats (plus one of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri) because it was a little streaky, but for £1 a bottle it’s everything I could want. I was going to do a gradient over the top of this, but I liked it so much I didn’t want to.

Polishes used:
1. W7 Black / NYC Grand Central Station / Model’s Own Artistix Nail Beads
2. NYC Lexington Yellow / Cheeky XL C / W7 Black / Sally Hansen Insta-Dri
3. MUA Pistachio Ice Cream / Sally Hansen Insta-Dri 

I like the color combo, and I like the way the stamps came out, I just don’t like that you can’t see them. Oh well, live and learn!

• Red: City Color – Red

I love the way this design turned out, but it’s so hard to capture the stamps with my camera! I’ve been using the camera on my smartphone because of convenience…but it looks like I’ll have to turn to the DSLR if I want to share the perfect photo ;)
