Move over, Chanel! There is a new babe on the nail shelf. Meet Narcissist Écume – the new Nars limited edition colour. Spring’s trendiest nail shade is white, and I can’t remember having been as fascinated by a nail varnish since Chanel Mimosa. Milk white finger tips as if dipped in whipped cream, paired with an all white outfit from top to toe? Yes, please!

While we’re on the subject. What if I told you I know a secret to how to apply nail varnish like the professional nail artists do? A way which means even the clumpsiest nail painters, like yours truly, can apply nail polish beautifully without even the littlest leak of nail varnish on the cuticles. Yes, that’s right.. check this out:

How to apply nail varnish like a pro:

1. File and buff.
2. Apply a base coat
3. Place a small drop on the lower par tof the nail, leaving some space between the nail and cuticle
4. Push the drop down towards the cuticle, stopping before it meets the cuticle.
5. Brush outwards in one line
6. Push the brush carefully to one side of the corner
7. Brush outwards in one line
8. repeat on the other side
9. Apply topcoat

….and then..

To perfect the border line you can dip a small pencil in nail varnish remover and make a perfect border along the cuticle. Voilà

So here´s my wooden nails.

What you will need:

Base coat (not in the picture), Nude-, brown-, black-, red-, gold-, yellow- polish and matte top coat.

You can do this with just a bunch of brown tones also, but since I didn’t have that I mixed my own tones of brown.

1. Start of with base coat and your nude polish. This nude are from elf-cosmetics and this is one of my absolutely favorites among the nudes Iv’e tried.

2. Bring out one of your lighter brown polish or mix your own like me. I mixed dark brown with yellow and gold. Draw lines in a wooden pattern and if you doesn’t know any wooden patter you can google it and find loads of wooden textures. You have to work quite fast so the polish wont get dry and mess up your design. Another trick is to poor a small amount of polish on a wax paper, foil or paper plate and paint one nail at the time.

3. Next up is to take another brown polish darker to the one you just used. I mixed red, brown and gold for a more darker and red-toned appearance. Remember That the lines doesn’t have to be neat and perfect. And don’t be afraid to be a bit unsteady and shaky on your hand, that will only make it more naturally.

4. Now to the black part. Iv’e just added a few stripes to make a depth to the design, making it look like shadow.

5. To finish this of top and seal your design with a matte top coat and your done.

I love the way this design turned out, but it’s so hard to capture the stamps with my camera! I’ve been using the camera on my smartphone because of convenience…but it looks like I’ll have to turn to the DSLR if I want to share the perfect photo ;)

You know I had to do a photo shoot!

While I was completing my Body Beast workout this morning, I just had to snap some pics with my nails and my weights!

And here are some pics I snapped last night! I just LOVE these nails! LOVE!!!!!! I will be making these into sets to purchase on my big cartel store ——> Fre$h.Unique.Dope.Nails

To celebrate  an important day on Sunday (Happy Mother’s Day:) I decided to do a new nail design. Originally I wanted to do a design that can symbolise Mother’s day, so I thought probably something red, pink, hearts or flowers? But ahem, the final design turned out quite different from what I planned. One of the reasons is my lack of nice pink nail polish, most are drying sign. I think I just let my fingers do  ’freestyle’ and ta-da I ended up doing this:

Love this gold shimmer nailpolish from Face Shop <3 looks good and easy to apply.

The dark purple. I figured a dark colour would bring out the gold better and make my skin look fairer  right?

So finally the end product~

I just realised it is probably my first time doing solid block colour design! I have been doing lots of ombre, using sponging method and was nearly tempted to do sponging again haha. But I decided to go for a change. Although the colour scheme is not exactly what I wanted, but I’m generally quite happy with the end results.:) Hmm should stock up on my nailpolish soon. Anyways, I am always looking for inspiration for new designs, so if you have done some beautiful designs do share with me.:)

Weekend yaaay……..  try this nail art

Today’s team has to once again be the defending champion Miami Heat. Since Miami is all about being WHITE-hot we paired a chic white playsuit with really cute Alexander Wang sandals. The open-toed shoe gives the outfit a fun-summery feel. Throw in a quilted Chanel and cute studded earrings and you are good to go! Of course you can’t forget the Miami Heat hat since they are poised to win the title yet again this year!

First of all, paint your nails using any colour you like, I chose the 223A Off the Shoulder by Essie (also featured in my Fragrance Direct post!) . I love the Essie brushes, they make the polish so easy to apply! I think by using a bright base it meant I could choose more tones colours for the flower itself which had a better effect.

(I managed to get black nail polish on her hand, oops!)

Next I drew five small dots in a flower shaped formation, I used a cheap paint brush on my sisters nails as she wanted a colour I didn’t own the pen of(yet) but when I did my own I used the Barry M Nail Paint on White which worked just as well. The purple varnish on my sisters nails (and on the image below) was the Barry M Nail Varnish in Lilac Foil, I don’t think it’s still available as it was special edition but if anyone sees it anywhere please let me know, it’s almost run out!

Now wait for this to dry, or if your if you’re as impatient as me then blow on them until they’re dry, then put a small dot in the centre of the circles, make it as big or as small as you like to suit your flowers, for the image below I chose to use my black nail pen which I bought on holiday for, an independent store but I think Models Own and Barry M offer similar pens at around the same prices.

To create my nails I used the same black pen for the centre but as mentioned previously I used the whiteBarry M Nail Pen to create my petals on the flowers. I think most contrasting colours work well for this tutorial, here’s what the black and white looked like.

I really enjoyed creating this tutorial but I’m not sure if its the right kind of thing to post so please let me know on your thoughts on this post, they’re much appreciated! I would love to see if anyone gives it a go too, so either tweet me a picture or send me a link via a comment please!
