The Great and Powerful Kos has polling data showing a HUGE enthusiasm gap between Democratic and Republican voters for the 2010 midterm elections. To me, this suggests that Democratic voters 1) have incredibly unrealistic expectations of how things actually work in politics and therefore 2) are disappointed that Obama, Pelosi and Reid have not been able to remake the world overnight. When and if healthcare reform passes, I would expect these numbers to improve. At least, I hope they would. If Democrats think staying at home and turning Congress over to the Tea Party lunatics, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin will make things better, then they deserve to lose.

Howard Dean admits that ObamaCare will cost a trillion dollars and offers no real reform and says the bill is harmful. Dean sounds like he could lead a tea party protest.

Via NakedEmperorNews

That angry, hateful Howard Dean. He obviously is a racist and wants people to die in the streets. He must love those insurance companies too. Do you idiots, who believe everything Obama tells you, see how stupid your claims have been?

Did you hear Howard Dean admit that if you get sick, you should expect to pay three times as much as you pay now? Dean then turns around and admits that you can’t afford health insurance if it’s twice as much or three times as much. This is what the Republicans have been screaming since day one of the health care debate.

Dean also admits this is nothing more that a “trillion dollar bailout” similar to the government bailout of insurance giant A.I.G. “This is a bailout that makes A.I.G. look cheap,” Dean proclaims during his interview on the Bill Press Show. “$60 billion dollars a year goes to the insurance companies under this bill, now if we get a public option I think that’s ok…but if you don’t have a public option, why would you want to stick the taxpayer with yet another bailout… They bailed out the banks, they bailed out AIG…this is a trillion dollar bailout.”

That’s how a Democrat thinks. Dean goes through and points out how bad the bill is, but in the same breath he says he can deal with all that as long as the health care bill has the public option.

Also listen very closely to Dean admitting that the Republicans are right and that this bill takes “TRILLIONS of dollars over several decades from our kids.”

Hate to say it but “TOLD YOU SO!”

In the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi’s version of the bill designed to implement President

In the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi’s version of the bill designed to implement President Barack Obama’s overhaul of the American health care system (and in the process provide coverage to 30 million currently uninsured Americans and possibly illegal aliens) passed, but immediately came under fire for being too expensive. Pundits predicted that a similar version would not pass in the Senate.

Harry Reid’s Senate version of the bill had Reid’s progressives looking at what could be cut from the House’s plan in order to make the bill more financially palatable. Since Senate Democrats seem to enjoy spending other people’s money just as much as House Democrats do, they naturally didn’t find too much. One of the things they did ultimately select, however, was the elimination of those subsidies that had been allotted to financially assisting medical residents in becoming primary care physicians and general surgeons.

By eliminating these subsidies and placing more of the financial burden on future physicians, Reid and his minions reasoned that they could keep their version of the plan under a trillion dollars, thereby making its passage in the Senate more likely. The Senate version passed, and Reid and his progressives gloated before the state-run media’s TV cameras.

Both versions had one serious flaw in common: they both failed to address what a Fox News report has identified as the premier health care challenge currently facing the nation: the severe shortage of physicians.

In fact, finalizing either version of the bill will make the shortage of physicians worse. President Obama acknowledged the problem of a physician shortage last July when he commented that:

The status quo is we don’t have enough primary care physicians.

With universal coverage, the removal of the subsidies and the addition of 30 million previously uninsured persons to the mix, Obama’s health-care reform plan is going to lead to an even greater physician shortage and longer waiting times for patients.

The Association of American Medical Colleges, for example, has predicted a primary care physician shortage of 46,000 by 2025 if nothing is done; if universal health care is passed, that figure would increase by 25%.

In Massachusetts, whose health care system served as the model for the universal coverage Obama wants to implement nationwide, the percentage of residents of that state having difficulty getting care because of the physician shortage rose to 24% from 16% between 2007 and 2008.

The reason so many are having trouble finding a doctor is that since the system was implemented back in 2006, one-half of the state’s doctors have moved to other states to practice medicine. A recent poll revealed that a shocking 33% of the state’s primary care doctors are considering changing professions due to dissatisfaction with the current practice environment which forces them to deal with crushing work-loads and a massive administrative bureaucracy. In fact, Massachusetts is not only having trouble retaining doctors, it is finding it exceedingly difficult to attract new ones.

By drastically increasing patient demand while the number of primary care physicians decreases, Obama’s vision of reform will turn health care into a nightmare. There will be longer wait times, shorter visits, higher prices, and decreased patient satisfaction. In this model, patient demand can only be met with the increased use of nurse practitioners and physician’s assistants.

In September, a survey conducted by Investors Business Daily found that 45% of doctors would consider quitting medicine altogether if Congress passes its plan to overhaul health-care.

Who can blame them? Why would anyone want to pursue a career in medicine under this scenario?

For each signature, CREDO will donate a dollar to support Crowe’s work.

I loathe the use of my tax dollars for any violence, but you know what I loathe even more? The use of debt taken out in my name to fund violence.

The latter includes the anti-Christian choice of using violence in conflict and it adds extreme, immoral irresponsibility to the original sin. Not only did the deficit-fueled war spending of the Bush years lead to massive human suffering, but it also contributed mightily to the economic crisis. Here’s Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz and Linda Bilmes writing in The Three Trillion Dollar War just before the economic crisis fully materialized (p. 115, 125-126):

The question is not whether the economy has been weakened by the [Iraq] war. The question is only by how much. Where you can put a figure on them, the costs are immense. In our realistic-moderate scenario…they total moe than a trillion dollars.

…

The Federal Reserve sought…to offset the adverse effects of the war, including those discussed earlier in this chapter. It kept interest rates lower than they otherwise might have been and looked the other way as lending standards were lowered–thereby encouraging households to borrow more–and spend more. Even as interest rates were reaching record lows, Alan Greenspan, then chairman of the Federal Reserve, in effect invited households to pile on the risk as he encouraged them to take on variable rate mortgages. The low initial interest rates allowed households to borrow more against their houses, enabling America to consume well beyond its means.

Household savings rates soon went negative for the first time since the Great Depression. But it was only a matter of time before interest rates rose. When they did so, hundreds of thousands of Americans who had taken on variable interest mortgages saw their mortgage payments rise–beyond their ability to pay–and they lost their homes. This was all predictable–and predicted: after all, interest rates could not stay at these historically unprecidented low rates forever. As this book goes to press, the full ramifications of the “subprime” mortgage crisis are still unfolding. Growth is slowing, and the economy is again performing markedly below its potential.

As an aside: Once I was derided for attacking the president’s willful disregard of the Sermon on the Mount’s unequivocal call for nonviolence because I was not also jumping up and down about deficits. Not only was that not true, but that jab assumed that the war in Afghanistan was not, in fact, a budget-busting mortgaging of the common good. Oops.

Some Democrats in Congress seem to understand this, at least:

Top Democrats have made it clear to Obama that he will not receive a friendly reception should he announce what is considered the leading option: sending 30,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan. The legislators have indicated that a request for more money to finance a beefed-up war effort will be met with frustration and, perhaps, a demand to raise taxes.

If the president wants to spend $1 million per troop, per year, he should have to justify it to the people who will bear the brunt of the ensuing economic damage.

Good for you, Pelosi, Obey, Rangel, et. al. Keep it up.

Watch Rethink Afghanistan to learn more about the costs of war.

Fresh new polls out by Rasmussen Reports shows that although 26% of American voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President, 41% STRONGLY DISAPPROVE of Obama, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -15. And this is the second straight day at -15, which is Obama’s lowest Approval Index rating yet. And for the first time in the Obama era, the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Approval Index has been in negative double-digit territory for nine straight days.

But that may be the good news for Leftists, Democrats and RINO Republicans. According to Rasmussen, there is a massive divide of 74% of African-Americans Strongly Approving of Obama, with only a tiny 19% of white voters agreeing. When, oh, when will Black Americans see that they left the plantation for the Democrat’s Jim Crow and KKK wayward ways, only to be given the right to vote in the Sought in exchange for government handouts that have RUINED YOUR FAMILIES, neighborhoods, schools, murdered your offspring, and basically have withheld the Great American Dream from you yet again? Just a question.

On the economy, just 34% now give the President good or excellent marks, while thirteen percent more (47%) say he is doing a poor job. Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance, while 54% disapprove, and 97% of African-American voters approve of Obama, while 61% of white voters disapprove. Wow! They never even lowered the glass of Kool-Aid yet, have they?

This all comes as the GOP has tied it’s highest number of adherents to Dem counterparts in the Generic Congressional Ballot at 44% versus 37%. And voters not affiliated with either party continue to STRONGLY FAVOR Republicans over Democrats by a whopping twenty-four percentage points, 44% to 20%.

But wait! There’s more bad news for those Wealth Redistributors in Washington District of Corruption, where Marxism, Socialism, Radicalism, and insane debt spending run rampant in our nations’ Capitol. While Nancy Pelosi and other Wealth Redistributors are busy trying to saddle our grandchildren with even more Public Debt, only 21% believe that additional Stimulus Spending is best, and 62% believe tax cuts are a better way to create jobs and fight unemployment. A full 51% of Americans now say a better way to create jobs is to STOP ALL STIMULUS SPENDING NOW!

And as far as Obamacare is concerned, the American People are speaking LOUD AND CLEAR that WE DON’T WANT IT by a whopping 18%, with 56% OPPOSING, and only 38% in favor, the LOWEST LEVEL in nearly two dozen tracking polls conducted by Rasmussen since June. Prior to this, support never went below 41%.

Not only is Obama and the Democrats losing the battle to take over our capitalist nation through Obamacare Socialism, but only 21% strongly favor the plan, and 43% are strongly opposed.

But the bad news doesn’t stop there for Obamacare Socialism, since only 16% of Americans now think passage of the plan will actually lead to lower health care costs. Nearly four times as many (60%) think the Dem plan will increase health care costs, and 54% think passage of it will hurt the quality of care.

Americans are divided between Democrats, who favor Obamacare at 73%, and GOPers and unaffiliated voters, who DISAPPROVE at 83% and 70% respectively.

And for those that just love the idea of “free stuff” from the government such as an Obamacare Public Option, 63% of voters say guaranteeing that no one is forced to change their health insurance coverage is a higher priority than giving us a “public option” Government-Run Health Insurance Company. And a huge 83% say that proof of citizenship should be required before anyone can get health care assistance from a government program.

Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Kerry, Boxer, Markey, Waxman

As the global warming fraud unravels, it’s a good time to look at the politicians who have been some of the most outspoken advocates, using global warming/climate change to advance “Cap-and-Trade” legislation and other related laws and regulations.

Top of the list is President Barack Obama who has made many references to “climate change” and “global warming” to further this national and international fraud. He’ll pick up his Nobel Peace Prize in December; the same one given to Al Gore and the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change a few years back. Further proof of his mendacity will be his attendance at the UN Climate Change Conference in Denmark.

Speaking on World Environment Day last June, Obama said of global warming, “We’re going to have to make some tough decisions and take concrete actions if we are going to deal with a potentially cataclysmic disaster.” This mirrors years of similar doomsday statements by former Vice President Al Gore.

This is the kind of drivel Americans and others around the world have heard from their supposed “leaders” for far too long.

As we move through the congressional hierarchy, one of the biggest prevaricators about global warming/climate change has been Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (D-C) and her counterpart in the Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), manages to wheeze about it from time to time.

Former presidential candidate, Sen. John Kerry, (D-MA) has been leading the fight for “Cap-and-Trade” but after much reflection former presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) concluded his support of global warming was a mistake.

Sen. Kerry said that failure to pass the Senate version of “Cap-and-Trade” (of greenhouse gas emission credits) would be comparable to another 9/11. He also has blamed tornadoes on global warming. The man is a complete idiot.

President Barack Obama has repeatedly promised that Americans wouldn’t see a tax increase if they make less than $250,000, and if they like their health insurance, they can keep it.

It seems now that the president has no intention of keeping those promises. The health care legislation he supports would impose a significant tax hike on individuals making more than $85,000.

Additionally, for senior citizens Medicare will face more than $400 billion in lost benefits.

It seems that taxpayers and seniors now face new promises from Obama: higher taxes on the middle class and increased cost, reduced access, watered-down quality and rationed care for patients.

Finally, more than 182 members of Congress support a three-day waiting period on health care legislation so that the Congressional Budget Office can estimate its cost and so that Congress and the American public can read the final legislation. With health care legislation frequently longer than Tolstoy’s “War and Peace,” a three-day waiting period so that legislators can read it seems like a good idea — particularly so when taxpayers will be asked to pay $800 billion or more. SOURCE

The source where I got this is a very interesting page and shows a light on more of the Colorado people than just the Obama people. To read what a couple of people from Colorado Springs said in comments you would think all Colorado Springs voters loves Obama so much that they would vote for him no matter what he did! From this page I see something totally different. Oh, I know I will be attack by both of them if they’re able to read my post, mayeb they should go back to school.

On September 11, 2001 this nation suffered the worst act of terrorist aggression ever to be perpetrated on American soil. On September 19th of that same year, remarks by Barack Obama were published in the Hyde Park Herald. Following is an excerpt: “The essence of this tragedy, it seems to me, derives from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers. Such a failure of empathy … most often grows out of a climate of poverty and ignorance, helplessness and despair.” Translation: 3000 of our people died because the Islamic jihadists who killed them just couldn’t help themselves. They were poor, ignorant, helpless, and riddled with despair.

In the fall of 2008 I wrote that (1) such a conclusion would be laughable had it not been reached by a person who, at that time, was actively campaigning for the presidency, and (2) that any candidate so incapable of discerning the true nature of avowed enemies of the United States was not fit to be Commander-In-Chief of our Armed Forces.

Today we are witnessing the disasterous results of installing such a person in the Oval Office. Field Commanders are still waiting for what they need to help ensure decisive victories for our men and women on the front lines of conflict … but foreign national terrorist operatives have already received U. S. citizen rights enumerated in Amendment VI of our Constitution.

At this writing, Obama remains noticeably inactive in support of our Armed Forces and noticeably proactive in support of Islamic terrorists. Never mind that lives and missions are at stake. Never mind that KSM and others like him are entitled to nothing. Never mind that the last thing 9/11 families and the people-at-large want is KSM et al on American soil. Never mind that my (and your) Constitutionally-guaranteed rights and liberties are not negotiable commodities. Obama’s current mindset seems to mirror his 2001 mindset which, back then, was inconsequential due to lack of power. Today, that mindset is deadly for (1) our national security, (2) our Armed Forces, and (3) our Constitutional rights and liberties. Nevertheless, Obama continues to methodically work his way down the Radical Left Socialist Agenda set forth by benefactor George Soros, which includes “defending the civil rights and liberties of suspected anti-American terrorists and their abettors”. The full agenda is at the link below and provides the playbill for Oval Office and Congressional action:

http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=977

You’ll note that several of the items have either already been carried out or are currently in process. There can be no doubt that the allegiance of Obama, Reid, Pelosi and the Progressive Caucus lies with George Soros, not our country or its people. Understand and know that each and every member of Congress that supports Obama, Reid or Pelosi ultimately supports this agenda. It’s as simple as that.

Is Obama selling us down the river? Yes. Is Pelosi selling us down the river? Yes. Is Reid selling us down the river? Yes. Why? For the same reason that KSM is coming to New York and Gen. Stan McChrystal is still waiting … it’s what George wants.

About a dozen single payer activists, including three Gray Panthers, sat in at Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s SF office on November 3rd, demanding she honor her promises on single payer. Pelosi had promised that the House health reform bill, HR 3962, would include the Kucinich Amendment, allowing states the option for single payer and the Weiner Amendment, allowing a full House debate on substituting HR 676 (Conyers national single payer bill) for the entire House bill being proposed.

Our immediate demand was that staff reach Pelosi or her chief aide in Washington by phone, and that we talk with her. We said we would stay until this happened. Some three hours later, we were arrested for failing to follow directions to leave. The arrests were ordered by Pelosi aide Dan Bernal, whom we remember for calling the GP office several years ago demanding apology for our newsletter article attacking her votes for war funding. Bernal was too chicken to make the formal complaint from Pelosi’s office, so he went scurrying around trying to find someone else to make a complaint. All this time, we and the crowd outside were dialing Pelosi’s Washington office, so the switchboard was jammed and calls were rolling over onto a fax line.

Pelosi’s position as House Speaker is largely based on her ability to raise huge sums for Democratic electoral campaigns, so she stands at the intersection between political power and big money including big money from insurers, drug companies, and hospital chains. It is particularly galling that she uses that power to stall implementation of single payer in California, which twice passed the legislature of the state she is supposed to represent. This is what dictatorship looks like.

A National Nightmare, Indeed

By David Limbaugh
November 24, 2009

In a Democratic fundraising speech in Iowa over the weekend, Vice President Joe Biden told party loyalists that opponents of the Obama administration’s agenda “should be worried about us, for we are their worst nightmare.” Duh.

Finally we can agree on something, Joe. Even the liberal New York Times reports that at the current level of federal spending, the annual interest on the national debt will exceed $700 billion by 2019 — compared with $202 billion this year. Some forecasters predict it will be much higher. This additional half-trillion dollars a year in interest is more than our current combined expenditures on education, energy, homeland security and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Oh, and the Times isn’t even factoring in the cap-and-trade nightmare you and Barack have in store for us, Joe — you know, that urgent legislation to catapult the nation back into Third World status based on hysteria generated by fraudulent science and corrupt zealots and politicians.

Nor is the Times including in its calculations the additional debt that would result from Obamacare.

Joe, when The New York Times is sounding the warnings over the exploding national debt, you and Barack insist not only on not reversing your disastrous course but also on making it worse. How can reasonable people assume anything other than that you are trying to run this nation into the ground financially?

Don’t dare keep telling us your hyper-ambitious spending is a necessary evil required to deliver us from a financial crisis you inherited. Whatever crisis we face is debt-related, purely and simply. Everything else is manageable. Yet you all are deliberately increasing our indebtedness as far as the eye can see, without the slightest pretense of scaling back in this millennium. In fact, you are laboring to establish further entitlements and institutional changes that would generate exponential burdens on our debt and would be enormously difficult for any responsible and financially sane successor to undo, much less reverse.

Adding insult to injury, you are spending this money not to improve (“stimulate”) the economy — which even the most politically and economically illiterate should now realize — but to restructure American society, dismantle our free enterprise system and impose in its place a command-control economy and political system — in which life’s decisions, including over our private health care, are dictated from Washington.

But while you and Barack are hoisting your wrecking ball, could you please spare us the pseudo-sanctimony and transparent populism in telling us that it will take “grit and determination” to outlast the “special interests” on Wall Street and the insurance industry to pass your destructive agenda?

You both know better. When you have to bribe Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., with a larcenous $300 million addition to your Senate bill (I know, you’re pretending it’s just Harry Reid’s bill) that’s specifically earmarked just for her state — at the expense of the rest of the states and the national interest — something smells to high heaven. You could at least have the decency to admit this provision to raise the bill’s cost by increasing Medicaid subsidies for “certain states recovering from a major disaster” is not even motivated to help Louisiana, but to buy Landrieu’s vote. And you want to talk to us, Joe, about the corruption of special interests?

Special interests, Joe? Is that how you describe 56 percent of the American people, who now oppose Obama’s plan? And that’s without even knowing the half of it. Or maybe you would describe them as dangerous protesters or domestic terrorists?

But, Joe, I do applaud you for your candor in telling your fawning supporters, “I can tell you with absolute certainty: (Barack’s) resolve has never waivered for one instant.”

Bull’s-eye, Joe. You and Barack believe you know better than the American people what is good for them, and you only care what they think to the extent that it makes your job more difficult when they oppose you.

But if you told the truth about your plan — that it would cost dramatically more than you pretend (especially considering that the benefits wouldn’t begin to be paid until 2014 and that taxes would increase almost immediately); that the public option would subsume private care; that the federal government would ration care; that medical choice would be drastically reduced; that you are still trying to secure federal funding for abortion; that you intend to cover currently illegal immigrants; that after all your hype about promoting this bill to achieve universal coverage, millions would remain uninsured and penalized, to boot; that medical quality would be seriously reduced; and that overall costs would increase — your support for the bill would be in the single digits.

So keep chanting it, Joe; you are indeed a national nightmare.

The developer of the iPhone’s No. 1 flatulence app says Apple’s policies stink

Joel Comm

Another voice has been added to the chorus of iPhone developers complaining about Apple’s (AAPL) App Store approval process.

The latest is that of author and Internet entrepreneur Joel Comm, whose iFart Mobile app is one of the iPhone’s all-time best sellers (No. 1 last Christmas and still No. 16 on AppShopper’s Entertainment list).

Comm has sent Steve Jobs an open appeal and the “Dear Steve” video posted below the fold. His complaint: his latest app, a simple green button that makes the cash register’s “ka-ching” sound, has been rejected twice by App Store reviewers for containing “minimal user functionality.”

The reviewers may be right. However Apple, as Comm demonstrates, has approved plenty of equally brainless apps, including some of his own creations.

Still, Comm makes a good point:

“On behalf of developers everywhere, we’re looking for consistency in the app reviewal process,” he says. “It’s not asking much that the process be fair and more transparent so that we know what’s going on. Remember, we’re investing our time, money and resources into helping build your platform.”

The video is clever, cleverer than Comm’s latest app. And we hope Steve Jobs — or at least Phil Schiller, the senior VP who supervises the App Store approval process — gets to see it.

It may very well be that having reached 100,000 apps, Apple has decided to tighten its standards. But if that’s the case, the company owes it to the developers working on the platform to let them know.

This chart was released by the the Senate Republicans to show the real cost of Harry Reid’s He

This chart was released by the the Senate Republicans to show the real cost of Harry Reid’s Health Care bill and to show the accounting games the Democrats are playing to hide the true cost of their dreams to take over America’s health care. Just think about the Democrats “doc-fix” bill that was passed as a separate bill to trick the taxpayers out of an additional $200 billion.

The Weekly Standard reports:

The Democrats assert that their Senate bill would cost $848 billion over ten years. But Congressional Budget Office projections show that only 1 percent of those costs would kick in prior to the fifth year of what the Democrats are calling the “first 10 years.” In the bill’s true first 10 years (2014 to 2023) — that is, in the first 10 years in which it would be operational to any meaningful extent — the CBO projects that the bill would cost $1.8 trillion.

But it gets even worse. The CBO doesn’t say that the bill’s total costs from 2010 to 2019 (99 percent of which would come from 2014-onward) would be $848 billion — or that its total costs in its real first 10 years (2014 to 2023) would be $1.8 trillion. Rather, it says that these would be the gross costs of the bill’s “expansions in insurance coverage.” The CBO shows that there are many other costs in the bill as well, including spending related to the CLASS Act, risk-adjustment payments, funding for the government-run “public option” (not a cent of which is included in the figure for “expansions in insurance coverage”), and other new federal spending.

People wondered why the Democrats held meetings behind closed, and locked, doors. It’s because this bill is wrought with fraud, bribes and earmarks. It’s the work product of the Democrats…The Party of Pork.

Gursharan Kaur, the first lady of India, Michelle Obama, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of India, and President Obama arrived for the state Dinner.

IN FOCUS: STATS

Obama’s Approval Slide Finds Whites Down to 39% Support has declined much more among whites than among nonwhites: In his first full week in office (Jan. 26-Feb. 1), an average of 66% of Americans approved of the job Obama was doing, including 61% of non-Hispanic whites and 80% of nonwhites. In the most recent week, spanning Nov. 16-22 interviewing, his approval rating averaged 49% overall, 39% among whites, and 73% among nonwhites. Thus, since the beginning of his presidency, his support has dropped 22 points among whites, compared with a 7-point loss among nonwhites. – Gallop, 11-24-09

The harris poll (r) President’s Job Approval Ratings Hinge on Good, Bad Element of Change Some think he is trying to do too much; others say his efforts are positive.: These are some of the results of The Harris Poll(R) of 2,303 adults surveyed online between Nov. 2 and 11, 2009 by Harris Interactive(R).
Right now, more than two in five Americans (43 percent) give Obama positive job approval ratings. When these people are asked why they think some people like the job Obama is doing, the highest response, given by 13 percent of Americans, is that he is trying to bring about much needed change. One in 10 U.S. adults (9 percent) think people like the job the president is doing because he is working for the people’s best interests and doing the right thing. Further down the list as reasons are that he seems to care about everyone, or the common man (7 percent) and the same number say people like Obama because he is not George W. Bush. In fact, 5 percent each say people like the job the president is doing because the country needs a fresh outlook with new ideas. – The Ledger, 11-24-09

Michelle Obama’s poll numbers slide: When Michelle Obama moved into the White House, she instantly became one of the most famous first ladies in history, a symbol of racial pride, a victor in the battle of the sexes and the picture of a modern woman, mother and wife. But from her days on the campaign trail to her residency in the White House, Obama’s favorability rating has been in flux, from a low of 48 percent in June 2008 to a peak of 72 percent last March to a slide to 61 percent in a recent Gallup Poll. – Politico, 11-4-09

THE HEADLINES….

Obama to vow greenhouse emissions cuts in Denmark: Putting his prestige on the line, President Barack Obama will personally commit the U.S. to a goal of substantially cutting greenhouse gases at next month’s Copenhagen climate summit. He will insist America is ready to tackle global warming despite resistance in Congress over higher costs for businesses and homeowners…. – AP, 11-25-09

Obama will unveil Afghan troops move at West Point: President Barack Obama plans to announce a redrawn battle plan for Afghanistan, including what the military says could be a roughly 50 percent increase in U.S. forces, in a national address Tuesday night from the U.S. Military Academy… – AP, 11-25-09

‘Going Rogue’ Goes to Top of Book Sales Chart: “Going Rogue,” the newly released memoir by Sarah Palin, the former Alaskan governor and Republican nominee for vice president, sold 469,000 copies in its first week of release, according to sales figures released Wednesday by Nielsen BookScan. That made “Going Rogue” the top-selling book of the week on Nielsen BookScan’s chart. – NYT, 11-25-09

Obama team battles to portray healthcare reform as cost-cutting: House and Senate bills on healthcare reform include most cost-cutting ideas that have surfaced in recent years, asserts Obama’s budget director…. – CS Monitor, 11-25-09

Modern Flourishes at Obamas’ State Dinner: It is an old tradition, a White House dinner governed by ritual and protocol that happens to be this city’s hottest social event. But at their first state dinner on Tuesday night, President Obama and his wife, Michelle, made sure to infuse the glittering gala with distinctive touches…. – NYT, 11-25-09

Obama’s first state dinner blends pageantry with politics: President Obama toasted a growing U.S. friendship with India at the first state dinner of his administration Tuesday, an evening of regal pageantry and symbolic politics in a tent on the White House South Lawn. “To the future that beckons all of us,” Obama said with glass raised toward his guest of honor, visiting Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. “Let us answer its call. And let our two great nations realize all the triumphs and achievements that await us.”…
The Tuesday night dinner showed Obama’s intention to signal strong ties with the world’s largest democracy and go his own way in navigating the pomp and tradition of White House customs…. – CNN, 11-25-09

Uninvited Guests Make It Into State Dinner: This much is known: About 7:15 Tuesday night, a glittering blonde, decked out in a red and gold sari, holding the hand of her black-tuxedoed escort, swept past the camera crews and reporters camped out to catch the red-carpet arrivals for the first state dinner given by President Obama.
In fact, the couple — Michaele Salahi and her husband, Tareq — are Virginians who have been auditioning for a possible role in a different housewives TV franchise: “The Real Housewives of Washington.”… – NYT, 11-25-09

Looking for Tea Leaves in Obama’s Sliding Numbers: President Obama returned from his trip to Asia facing some unsettling news: two new polls showed that his approval rating had dipped below 50 percent for the first time. To many of his critics, who had chafed as he enjoyed broad support among Americans even as many were critical of his handling of specific issues like the economy, this erosion is a tipping point, the end of Mr. Obama’s perceived near-invulnerability. In many ways, the slide should not come as a surprise. And coming less than a year into his presidency, not to mention almost a full year from the 2010 Congressional elections, its long-term political significance is anything but clear…. – NYT, 11-24-09

Republicans blast ‘bait and switch’ health bill: Digging in for a long struggle, Republican senators and governors assailed the Democrats’ newly minted health care legislation Thursday as a collection of tax increases, Medicare cuts and heavy new burdens for deficit-ridden states. Despite the criticism, there were growing indications Democrats would prevail on an initial Senate showdown set for Saturday night, and Majority Leader Harry Reid crisply rebutted the Republican charges. The bill “will save lives, save money and save Medicare,” he said.
The legislation is designed to answer President Barack Obama’s call to expand coverage, end industry practices such as denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions, and restrain the growth of health care spending. Republicans saw little to like. “It makes no sense at all and affronts common sense,” said Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, one of several Republicans to criticize the measure. He added that a plan to expand Medicaid, the state-federal program for the poor, was a “bait and switch” with states as the victims… – AP, 11-19-09

Obama: How low can he go?: President Barack Obama’s deep bow to the Japanese emperor during a weekend visit in Tokyo has been met with sharp criticism from conservatives in the United States. Conservatives took to the airwaves and blogosphere Monday to rip Obama’s gesture as subservient, inappropriate and a sign of weakness, with one rightwing blogger going as far to call it “treasonous.”
Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko hosted Obama for a meeting on Saturday. As Obama shook Akihito’s hand, he bowed a full 90 degrees forward. Blogging on the Los Angeles Times, Andrew Malcolm said the move might score him some points in Japan but will surely elicit frowns back home. “How low will the new American president go for the world’s royalty?” Malcolm wrote, pointing out that vice president Dick Cheney’s simple handshake with Akihito in 2007 was the proper way to greet the emperor. Obama received similar criticism when he offered more of a half- bow to Saudi King Abdullah in April, prompting The Washington Times to editorialize it as a “shocking display of fealty.” A senior administration official has dismissed the criticism, telling Politico it’s “just way, way, way off base.” State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said it was merely “a sign of respect to the emperor.” – Earth Times, Kansas City Star, 11-17-09

Obama, House Dems confident on health care vote: Buoyed by two major endorsements, House Democratic leaders on Thursday predicted swift passage of President Barack Obama’s historic health overhaul initiative. The president himself declared, “We are closer to passing this reform than ever before.”
“I urge Congress to listen to AARP, listen to the AMA, and pass this reform for hundreds of millions of Americans who will benefit from it,” Obama told reporters during an unannounced visit to the White House briefing room after the endorsements were announced.
“We are right on the brink,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. “We have an historic opportunity for us to again provide quality health care for all Americans. It is something that many of us have worked our whole political lifetimes on.” – AP, 11-5-09

Obama’s Breakeven Points Versus Palin and Romney: Nate Silver has published an analysis of how far Pres. Obama’s Gallup approval ratings could drop before he could expect to tie Govs. Palin and Romney in head-to-head elections:
There have been 11 Palin versus Obama polls that have come out this year — 8 by Public Policy Polling and one each from Rasmussen, Clarus, and Marist. Those polls showed Obama approval ranging from 49 percent to 55 percent — not far from Dowd’s sweet spot — but Obama defeating Palin by margins ranging from 6 points to 23. If we make a scatterplot of these polls, we can extrapolate backward to get an estimate of where Obama’s approval rating would need to be in order to bring Palin into a tie with him; the answer is about 43 percent…. – race42008.com, 11-25-09

POLITICAL QUOTES

Toasts by the President and the Prime Minister: Following is a transcript of toasts by President Obama and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of India at the state dinner on Nov. 24, provided by the White House. Many of you were here when I was honored to become the first President to help celebrate Diwali — the Festival of Lights. (Applause.) Some of you were here for the first White House celebration of the birth of the founder of Sikhism — Guru Nanak. (Applause.) Tonight, we gather again, for the first state dinner of my presidency — with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Mrs. Gursharan Kaur, as we celebrate the great and growing partnership between the United States and India.
As we all know, in India some of life’s most treasured moments are often celebrated under the cover of a beautiful tent. It’s a little like tonight. We have incredible food and music and are surrounded by great friends. For it’s been said that “the most beautiful things in the universe are the starry heavens above us and the feeling of duty within us.”
Mr. Prime Minister, today we worked to fulfill our duty –bring our countries closer together than ever before. Tonight, under the stars, we celebrate the spirit that will sustain our partnership — the bonds of friendship between our people.
It’s a bond that includes more than two million Indian Americans who enrich every corner of our great nation — leaders in government, science, industry and the arts — some of whom join us tonight. And it’s the bond of friendship between a President and a Prime Minister who are bound by the same unshakable spirit of possibility and brotherhood that transformed both our nations — a spirit that gave rise to movements led by giants like Gandhi and King, and which are the reason that both of us can stand here tonight.
And so, as we draw upon these ties that bind our common future together, I want to close with the words that your first Prime Minister spoke at that midnight hour on the eve of Indian independence, because Nehru’s words speak to our hopes tonight: “The achievement we celebrate today is but a step, an opening of opportunity, to the great triumphs and achievements that await us…The past is over and it is the future that beckons us now.” – NYT, 11-25-09

HISTORIANS & ANALYSTS’ COMMENTS

Julian E. Zelizer “Keeping a promise to urban America”: One year ago, as Thanksgiving approached, many Americans were still feeling pleased about the fact that Americans seemed to have broken through an important racial divide. With the election of the first African-American president, some were talking about the possibility of a “post-racial” society.
Despite all of the progress marked by that election, it remains painfully clear that we are not a post-racial society. Many of the racial disparities that are deeply connected to public policy, from our prison system to our education system to the damaged economies of urban America, remain unchanged.
Although issues such as health care and the war in Afghanistan have garnered most attention, there is a significant initiative under way that seeks to tackle the problems that have faced African-American children living in poor communities in urban America: the Promise Neighborhoods program.
The program aims to provide opportunity to young, largely minority Americans who are living in the impoverished neighborhoods of urban America….
Promise Neighborhoods is one of the most ambitious efforts in recent years to tackle the crisis of urban youth. Geoffrey Canada’s work should offer one area of policy where Democrats and Republicans can join to show to the world that the election of 2008 did indeed reflect a genuine desire to eliminate some of the roots of racial inequality that continue to shape our country. – CNN, 11-25-09

Stephen Wayne “In his slow decision-making, Obama goes with head, not gut”: Stephen Wayne, who teaches about the presidency at Georgetown, said: “He’s not an instinctive decision-maker as Bush was. He doesn’t go with his gut, he thinks with his head, which I think is desirable.” Referring to the Afghanistan decision, Wayne said, “I don’t think he is an indecisive person, I just think this is a tough one.” – Wa Po, 11-24-09

Allan Lichtman “In his slow decision-making, Obama goes with head, not gut”: “I think the Obama we’ve seen as president is a very different Obama than we saw during the campaign. He doesn’t seem to be connected, he doesn’t seem to have the passion, he doesn’t seem to be conveying the grand and inspiring vision,” says the progressive historian Allan Lichtman of American University. “If you want to be a transformational president, you’ve got to take the risks.” – Wa Po, 11-24-09

Sean Wilentz “In his slow decision-making, Obama goes with head, not gut”: Sean Wilentz, a history professor at Princeton, says Obama has suffered from unrealistic expectations among those who put him in office. “They kind of were sold Utopia, and they bought it, and it didn’t happen,” he says. “People were comparing the candidate to Abraham Lincoln before he served a day of his presidency. Nobody can live up to that.” – Wa Po, 11-24-09

Victor Davis Hanson: We Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet: When it comes to the problems facing this country, an old slogan comes to mind: “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.” High unemployment, the recession and a terrorist resurgence in Afghanistan are bad enough. But there are a number of problems on the horizon that could dwarf President Obama’s first-year trials. Why the pessimism? In short, we are doing nothing to prepare for the crises to come. A global recession has led to low oil prices. Yet in this window of opportunity, America has not decreased its foreign-oil dependence. We are not encouraging domestic exploration. And we are still ambivalent on nuclear power…. – St Augustine, 11-25-09

John R. Bohrer: Hold the Hofstadter: Why the GOP Is Winning 2010: Over the last few months, a number of prominent political columnists have pointed to historian and social critic Richard Hofstadter to explain what is happening to the Republican Party. 1964’s The Paranoid Style in American Politics and his 1954 essay, “The Pseudo-Conservative Revolt,” among others, tell us why so many Republicans are lashing out at town halls and tea parties. And because the protesters make a lot of noise, wave disgusting signs and are embraced by a major political party, they get a lot of attention.
Here’s the rub: their craziness turns away those who do not already agree with them, and yet the GOP is beginning to pull ahead in the generic congressional ballot match-up. How can this be?
Perhaps it’s because while we’re all hopped up on Hofstadter and understanding what Sam Tanenhaus defines as The Death of Conservatism, we’ve forgotten about another important contingent of Americans: low-information 2008 Obama voters. Huffington Post, 11-17-09

Julian E. Zelizer: Obama should focus on jobs, not deficit: Regardless of the outcome of the health care reform effort, the difficult issue of cutting the federal budget deficit is likely to move front and center in 2010. The size of the deficit is causing great concern in Washington. While most economists say the deficit should normally hover at around 3 percent of the Gross Domestic Product, it has now reached almost 10 percent. With each piece of positive economic news, such as the recent fall in unemployment claims, pressure will grow to shrink the deficit. The Wall Street Journal reported that the White House is considering using some unspent TARP money for debt reduction while Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is pushing for spending cuts if Congress raises taxes….
The pressure to move faster will intensify after the health care debate is done and the midterm elections approach. The president will need to be cautious about not repeating Roosevelt’s mistake. – CNN, 11-17-09

Julian E. Zelizer “Are Republicans too giddy?”: Republicans have been downright giddy following the off-year elections in Virginia and New Jersey. In a swing state and a blue state, Republicans pulled off significant victories with Chris Christie’s defeat of Gov. John Corzine and Robert McDonnell defeating Creigh Deeds.
Just two days after the election, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, who had boasted of the results as evidence of a “Republican Renaissance,” issued a stern warning to his colleagues. Steele said that his message for the 2010 midterm elections was that Republicans should remain loyal to the party principles, or “we’ll come after you.”
Republicans certainly can take some comfort in this election. It is clear that some of the excitement about the Democratic Party has faded since the beginning of 2009. The so-called jobless recovery, with unemployment now at 10.2 percent, is not sitting well with many Americans.
But Republicans should be cautious. Both political parties have a history of over-reading election results and seeing mandates where none exist. The leaders of each party have often thought that the electorate sent a clear message endorsing a new direction in public policy only to learn that voters were relatively comfortable with the status quo….
Rather than misread the message of the elections, Republicans must turn to the difficult job of rebuilding their party by finding a new generation of leaders and ideas, while broadening rather than narrowing their reach. If they don’t, their response will leave their ranks in even worse shape than before. CNN, 11-10-09

Richard Kohn: Could Fort Hood visit redefine Obama’s relationship with the military?: Recent Democratic presidents have had an uneasy relationship with the armed forces. Obama’s visit to Fort Hood’s memorial service could set the tone for a new rapport with those in uniform.
“Obama doesn’t have a lot of experience with the military, so in a sense, I don’t think he’ll be on trial [at Fort Hood], but he does fight a natural suspicion of Democrats in the military,” says Richard Kohn, a University of North Carolina historian and expert on presidential wartime leadership.
“The thing to do is compare his response and emotional intelligence with them when he’s at Fort Hood as opposed to his normal kind of behavior with other groups,” adds Mr. Kohn. “Whether it’ll have the emotional content that many military people expect or seek and whether that can balance or even cancel the natural suspicion is a question.”
“What Obama is trying to do is to restore the proper sense of, ‘I’m the guy in charge,’” says Mr. Kohn. “What you’re hearing is a kind of partisan buzz that would like to reframe and cancel out Obama’s very concerted effort not to be victimized by that history of Democratic presidents and the military.” CS Monitor, 11-7-09

Betty Boyd Caroli: Michelle Obama’s poll numbers slide: “If you asked most people, they would say she defines her job as first lady as taking care of her family, and maybe that’s what the White House wants — what she wants,” said first lady historian Betty Boyd Caroli. “A lot of people appreciate that, but some people wanted more, and maybe that’s why the numbers are dipping.” – Politico, 11-4-09

Julian E. Zelizer: What happened to bipartisanship?: When Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced he would be pushing for a public option in the final health care bill, it looked as if he had given up on the possibility of a bipartisan agreement.
Most Republicans have been steadfast in their opposition to the Democratic health care proposals. The only serious possibility for GOP backing has come from Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine. While expressing support for much of the Senate Finance Committee bill, she has said she would accept a public option only if private markets and new regulations fail to control costs and lower premiums.
Reid’s decision is not a sign of commitment to an ideal but rather an act of political realism. The notion that either party will be able to find substantive bipartisan support for legislation today is dubious. The political forces that generate partisan conflict in Washington are deeply rooted and hard to change…
Seriously searching for bipartisanship, for example, would require reforming the campaign finance system so that legislators are not in such desperate need of private campaign contributions, over which party leaders and activist organizations maintain tight control.
Citizens should also support media outlets that place solid journalism above partisan analysis. Right now, bipartisan votes are not coming. In the past few weeks, Democrats seem to have come to this conclusion and are now focusing more on what will unite their own party than what will win Sen. Snowe’s vote. – CNN, 11-3-09

Robert Rector does the analysis here at the Heritage Foundation. (H/T National Review via ECM)

Here’s the abstract:

H.R. 3962 would deliberately permit illegal aliens to participate in the government health insurance exchange and in the public option insurance program. It would nominally bar them from receiving health care “affordability credits” and most regular Medicaid benefits, but verification procedures are weak and subject to fraud. Moreover, any limitations on benefits provided to illegal immigrants under the House bill are deceptive. The President and the congressional leadership clearly intend that these limits will be only temporary, to be overturned by amnesty or “comprehensive immigration reform” legislation that will be introduced next spring.

And here are the main points:

The health care bill recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives (H.R. 3962) clearly and directly contradicts the President’s declarations and promises. Under H.R. 3962:

Illegal immigrants are clearly permitted to purchase health insurance under the government health insurance exchange created by the bill.

Illegal immigrants are permitted to receive cover age under the “public health insurance option” created in the bill.

Illegal immigrants are ostensibly barred from receiving taxpayer-funded “affordability credits” to subsidize their health care, but the verification procedures used to determine the legal status of those who receive credits are weak and subject to fraud.

The bill expands the Medicaid program. Illegal immigrants are nominally barred from receiving most Medicaid services, but the verification procedures used to determine the legal status of those who receive credits are also weak and sub ject to fraud.

All illegal immigrant women who do not have private health insurance and who give birth inside the United States will have the full cost of childbirth paid by the U.S. taxpayers. There will be no effort to have the mother repay any of the cost. Given the fact that nearly 400,000 children are born inside the U.S. each year to illegal immigrant women, these costs could be quite large.

The bill will provide tax credits to small businesses to subsidize the purchase of health insurance for illegal immigrant employees. Under H.R. 3962, small businesses will be given tax credits to encourage them to purchase health coverage for employees; because firms are not required to verify the legal status of subsidized employees, both legal and illegal employees will receive taxpayer support.

Illegal immigrants will continue to receive so-called emergency medical services under the Medicaid program.

The Democrats’ idea of spending your hard-earned tax dollars is to give it to ACORN, SEIU, and a whole host of other Democrat Special Interests groups, entities and projects, while maintaining no real accountability as far as how many jobs were created, or even a tracking method to determine if congressional districts are real or not.

One thing seems to me to be certain: The Democrats’ Porkulus Payback Package was good for creating MORE corruption, waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer’s money. But maybe Nancy Pelosi through her twisted logic thinks that if we just spend more money through government ‘jobs bills,’ we will finally dig down deep enough to finally touch CHINA directly (this is a joke).

I can’t describe the total seething anger at the Speaker’s unimaginable mindset that government is the answer to our problems, when just the OPPOSITE is true: government CAUSED the economic meltdown by not reigning in Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, and allowing the enabling monetary policies thereof by Fed Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan. Even though Bush and Republicans tried to reform the twin behemoths, the Democrats cried racism and used class warfare tactics to shut down opposition to reform. And this was all started by Barack Obama and his helping ACORN win passage of the Community Reinvestment Act that lowered borrowing standards across America per threat of lawsuit and/or direct ACORN thuggery activism.

Now we have the top ACORN guy in the W.H., and a Democratic lap-dog Congress now in power on Capitol Hill that not only has a love affair with ACORN, but also with it’s companion group, SEIU. This recipe has led to record spending, record deficits, record amounts of money spent by government to lose private sector jobs, auto bailouts, more ACORN corruption, and a whole host of other domestic and military problems.

Here is more nonsense from your Speaker:

“The American people have an anger about the growth of the deficit because they’re not getting anything for it. … If somebody has the idea that the percentage of GDP of what our national debt is will go up a bit, but they will now — and their neighbors and their children — will have jobs, I think they could absorb that, and then we ride it out and bring money in,” she said.

My anger is that the Democrats wasted a trillion dollars on PORK, then are planning on passing Obamacare, cap-and-trade, card check and other legislation that WILL KILL AMERICAN JOBS even further. She is truly a frightening character with socialism as her cause, in my opinion.

“We’re never going to decrease the deficit until we create jobs, bring revenue into the Treasury, stimulate the economy so we have growth,” said Pelosi.

When Reagan and Bush cut taxes, MORE REVENUE WENT TO THE FEDERAL TREASURY! Look it up, NANCY!!!
The Progressive's Brain is full of Moonbats The liberal progressive mind is a scary thing. After

The Progressive's Brain is full of Moonbats

The liberal progressive mind is a scary thing. After scamming taxpayers out of $787 billion, Pelosi thinks Americans are her party’s personal piggy-bank and will continue to accept more debt for jobs. That’s why Obama and other Democrooks are holding a “jobs summit” in December. They need to take more money to “save and or create” jobs.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says Americans could “absorb” higher deficits in exchange for more jobs. Pelosi and her progressive goons passed the stimulus back in January and promised the American taxpayers it would immediately produce jobs. The only items the American Recovery Act produced was waste, fraud, imaginary congressional districts, fuzzy math and Obama’s mythical phrase of “saved or created jobs.”

Progressives will not admit that the stimulus is a complete failure. If it was a success, progressives wouldn’t need that White House “jobs summit.” Obama, Nancy and the progressives are now calling for a second stimulus but refuse to call it a stimulus. On top of that scheme, Nancy and the progressives are going to raise taxes on the purchase and sale of stocks, options, derivatives and futures to “pay” for their newest scam.

Fox News reports:

The California Democrat said on a conference call Tuesday that Americans could “absorb” the hit to the federal budget, and she argued that their biggest complaint is not that the deficit is big — it’s that they’re not seeing any benefit in return for increasing the U.S. debt load.

“We have to shed any weakness that anybody may have about not wanting to be confrontational on this subject for fear that we’d be labeled not sensitive to the deficit,” Pelosi said, in a recording posted by Think Progress.

“But I think if anybody is asking the public, ‘Would you rather have a job or the percentage of GDP of our national debt would go up a little bit?’ I think that everybody wants a job.”

Pelosi continued the conference call by faking shock about the growing deficit numbers. How can one be shocked when they have control of the White House, the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate and it is your party’s spending that grew the deficit? Pelosi and the progressive movement are the ones responsible for the increasing deficit. Since Obama took office, the progressives have been on a spending spree and have treated the American taxpayers as their personal credit cards.

Most common-sense Americans are angry because they were promised change. Americans were also promised jobs. As of now, Americans have received nothing but the bill for these progressive schemes.

If $787 billion caused unemployment to jump up to 10.2 percent and really didn’t save or create any jobs, what will an extra $150 billion produce? Nancy, stop the spending. Destroy every health care bill that is in the House and Senate. Kill the cap-and-trade scheme and any other scheme that will take money out of the taxpayer’s pocket. Last, and most important, stop using American taxpayers are your personal credit card.

This is where the anger resides. The progressive mind isn’t so progressive. It’s strictly regressive and that is why we find ourselves in this mess today…the progressive mind.

According to Fox News:

“Building the case for a brand new jobs-creation bill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says most Americans would not mind inflating the already-gaping deficit in exchange for more jobs.”

Dear Nancy,

I’m sure that Americans without jobs would, but how about the Americans who still have jobs (and therefor will have to pay the bill), houses, cars, bills of their own, kids to raise?

It’s always been an obligation of society to help those who are in need. The government spending money to create jobs is the worst possible cure. In fact it’s not a cure at all, it’s a shot of morphine.

How about improving the climate for private industry job creation? You know, the people in this country who actually create wealth. That’s where you improve something and make it more valuable to your customers, so you both benefit. The people who create the wealth that is taxed to fund government programs.

Folks, this is just a continuation of the arrogant, aggressive, militant liberal socialism I wrote about in yesterday’s piece on Ed Begley. I am so looking forward to three more years of this. I can’t wait to see what’s left of the country in ‘12. Ha!Ha!

G’day, all, and may God continue to bless America.

I’ve been asked by a few people why the Obama Administration is in such a hurry to rush health

I’ve been asked by a few people why the Obama Administration is in such a hurry to rush healthcare reform even when the majority of Americans are against the current language of the bills. There is one simple reason for it, this the largest power grab in the history of the world. It has nothing to do with the 2010 elections because the liberals already know they’re in trouble and are going to lose the Congressional majority they now enjoy.

Since 1942 the liberals have had one over-riding campaign theme, “Conservatives will take your Social Security.” The liberals have used this mantra election after election and it just doesn’t work. Americans are too smart for that. Sure it makes for a nice sound bite in the liberal media, but Americans have repeatedly shown they don’t buy this argument anymore. Republicans have been elected and Social Security, and all its flaws, is still around.

Today we find the liberals in need of a new hook. They almost got it in 1993 until the public became aware of the damage Hillary Care would bring. Liberals lost wildly in the next election.

Today the party of liberals is fighting for a new anthem, “Conservatives will take away your healthcare.” It’ll be a great cheer to use for the next 60 or so years, but it doesn’t promise you anything other than fear. That’s what liberals historically have done, and that’s what they’re going to use healthcare “reform” for.

Liberals prey on your despair, trepidation, and suspicion. They present no hope, no optimism, no faith.

To be clear, I am not a Roman Catholic. Nevertheless, I am not shy about drawing from the deep well

To be clear, I am not a Roman Catholic. Nevertheless, I am not shy about drawing from the deep well of Catholic teaching prohibiting abortion or the legalization thereof.

I recently received word of a ghastly organization, “Catholics For Choice“. It should be noted that this is not a Catholic organization, and in fact, claims to represent “the [alleged] great majority of the faithful in the Catholic church who disagrees with the dictates of the Vatican on matters related to sex, marriage, family life and motherhood.” Seems sort of silly to call such an entity a Catholic organization at all, since it opposes a rather major mission of the Church, not to mention its authority, which is sort of a big deal in the Catholic Church.

The Catholic Bishops have, of course, addressed this renegade organization: “As the Catholic Bishops of the United States have stated for many years, the use of the name Catholic as a platform for promoting the taking of innocent human life and ridiculing the Church is offensive not only to Catholics, but to all who expect honesty and forthrightness in public discourse.” The Bishops have also clarified that the Catholic Church’s position against abortion has never changed, and Catholic ministers have offered no shortage of rebuttals to the likes of pro-choice Catholic politicians Nancy Pelosi, Joseph Biden, and Kathleen Sebelius.

Someone from a Catholic background recently told me that the reason the Church prohibits abortion is so that they can baptize infants to remove the stain of original sin, and that the Church does not consider unborn infants “innocent”. These statements are false. Just so we’re absolutely clear, I’m going to quote verbatim the Church’s teachings on abortion straight out of the Catechism, which appears in its discussion of the Fifth Commandment (“You Shall Not Kill”).

2258 “Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being.”56 . . . .

Abortion

2270 Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person – among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.71

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.72

My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depths of the earth.73

2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:

You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish.74

God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.75

2272 Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. “A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae,”76 “by the very commission of the offense,”77 and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law.78 The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.

2273 The inalienable right to life of every innocent human individual is a constitutive element of a civil society and its legislation:

“The inalienable rights of the person must be recognized and respected by civil society and the political authority. These human rights depend neither on single individuals nor on parents; nor do they represent a concession made by society and the state; they belong to human nature and are inherent in the person by virtue of the creative act from which the person took his origin. Among such fundamental rights one should mention in this regard every human being’s right to life and physical integrity from the moment of conception until death.”79

“The moment a positive law deprives a category of human beings of the protection which civil legislation ought to accord them, the state is denying the equality of all before the law. When the state does not place its power at the service of the rights of each citizen, and in particular of the more vulnerable, the very foundations of a state based on law are undermined. . . . As a consequence of the respect and protection which must be ensured for the unborn child from the moment of conception, the law must provide appropriate penal sanctions for every deliberate violation of the child’s rights.”80

2274 Since it must be treated from conception as a person, the embryo must be defended in its integrity, cared for, and healed, as far as possible, like any other human being.

Prenatal diagnosis is morally licit, “if it respects the life and integrity of the embryo and the human fetus and is directed toward its safe guarding or healing as an individual. . . . It is gravely opposed to the moral law when this is done with the thought of possibly inducing an abortion, depending upon the results: a diagnosis must not be the equivalent of a death sentence.”81

2275 “One must hold as licit procedures carried out on the human embryo which respect the life and integrity of the embryo and do not involve disproportionate risks for it, but are directed toward its healing the improvement of its condition of health, or its individual survival.”82

“It is immoral to produce human embryos intended for exploitation as disposable biological material.”83

“Certain attempts to influence chromosomic or genetic inheritance are not therapeutic but are aimed at producing human beings selected according to sex or other predetermined qualities. Such manipulations are contrary to the personal dignity of the human being and his integrity and identity”84 which are unique and unrepeatable.

[Italics in original, underline added.]

It could not be more clear that the Catholic Church takes the obvious and common-sense position that unborn human beings are “innocent”. It affirms that proposition no less than three times. Likewise, there is no disputing that the Catholic Church deems abortion to be a grave sin, and always has (and that aborted babies do not necessarily go to hell). The Church explicitly deems the failure to protect unborn lives through penal sanctions to be unjust (not simply as a matter of religious doctrine, but of natural law).

If anyone claims that the Catholic Church is anything but completely and expressly opposed to abortion and the legalization thereof, there are more than adequate grounds to disabuse that person of that notion.

Of all of the insanity that has come out of our current democrat/communist congress, this has to really take the cake. These dangerous loons have been spending us into oblivion for quite some time. The spending has been beyond irresponsible, it borders on treason.

This is a bi-partisan effort, by the way. Both parties are out of control, but the democrat/communist party is now out there where the busses don’t run.

We all know the far left loons that infect Congress, and the nation as a whole, hate our military, despise it, actually. The left’s contempt for our military is palpable, has been forever. Now they are really letting it all hang out, going for broke.

Congress is now saying they want to add a “war surtax” to everyone’s tax bill to pay for our national security. They are now whining that the cost of war is hurting their march toward turning America into a communist hell hole.

In a bit of political grandstanding Congressman David Obey (D/C-Wisc.), the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, warned that if President Barack Obama decides to send additional troops to Afghanistan, it should be funded with the new tax.

Don’t you just love how democrat/communists want to tax EVERYTHING?

Obie went on to say this:

“If we don’t pay for it, then the cost of the Afghan war will wipe out every other initiative that we have to try to rebuild our own economy,” he said. “I’m going to be fighting to get whatever they do paid for.”

I know most in Congress these days have either never read the Constitution, or have chose to ignore it, but the American people haven’t. Having read our Constitution front to back, I can tell you that as far as spending, and responsibilities go, national defense and funding for it, is talked about frequently. In fact, it’s one of the few responsibilities of the federal government that is actually, and explicitly, spelled out!

In other words, constitutionally, Congress has no authority to do things like take over our health care, private businesses, or even schools, but they are directed to defend the nation and the Constitution.

So here is where we are at. We have a Congress that is trying to fundamentally change America, take her in a direction that an overwhelming number of Americans, a super majority, do not want to go.

Congress has spent more money since Barack Obama has been in office than was spent in the previous 233 years of our nation’s existence, combined. From George Washington, to George W Bush, Obama and his thug Congress has spent more than all of the other 43 Presidents, combined.

And yet, with all of the trillions of dollars spent on social engineering, and “change,” these evil little devils can’t seem to find the money to pay for the ONE THING they are actually REQUIRED to pay for constitutionally!

I think it’s well past the time we continue to give these people the benefit of the doubt. Congress is out of control, and their refusal to listen to the American people is bordering on treason. We must hold these thieves, these scoundrels, accountable.

We must stop Congress from throwing our money away on social engineering and programs like their so-called “heath care reform” that will collapse our economy and send America into bankruptcy. We must demand that Congress stop spending and start cutting the fat.

Sarah speaks more about these issues and other issues regarding Barack Obama’s inability to take care of our troops, and perform his duties as Commander-in-Chief to our armed forces in an interview with Greta. There is some serious red meat here, well worth watching every segment:

The US sent the Israeli government a telegram, thanking them for all their help with Iraq (like what, pray tell?!) and offering the pipelines as a present (all of this was previously worked out–read the article). More work for Haliburton, yeah! 2003 Jew News article Every time this government’s elected leaders try to tell you that they want to do this or to do that, just say stop and say loudly: BULLSHIT! We’ve heard your stories, before. Here, we have another Washington Dog and Pony Show, once again led by the Democrats Nancy Pelosi (married to a billionaire Jew) and her co-star, Harry Reid, yammering on about how they’re going to change the direction of the war in Iraq and fight Mr. Bush tooth and nail, but will now it seems, quietly, give him a blank check. Hell, they’ve been building 14 bases over there as PERMANENT to begin with. That’s right, folks we’re there to stay, or at least as long as it takes to get away with turning it over to the Israeli Zionists, eventually. Plus, they’ve built a 700+ million dollar Embassy, the size of the Vatican. Haven’t you figured it out yet? It’s all BS. Always has been, too. They do things in DC only to please themselves (Elite Gentiles and Israel Firster Neocons) and their Zionist allies in Tel Aviv. And there’s little real difference between Republicans and Democrats, too. Just different names for the same AIPAC lapdogs. Always has been that, as well. This has all apart of a Neocon, Globalist Zionist scheme for something called “Eretz Ysrael.” This is where they expand the borders of Israel to include what they think to be the real Israel of the Bible. Also, they believe that all this has been promised them by the British way back in 1917 with the Balfour declaration (and all Gentiles, anywhere, because of the Holocaust). This includes: Much of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, the Sinai and some of Iraq and Saudis Arabia. The Zionists, along with his fooled Gentile cohorts, have visions of Oil pipelines stretching all the way back to Haifa, on the Mediterranean. And his bearded Holy Ones think that this is all part of some grand scheme to lure the Mossiach (Messiah) to finally appear among the Chosen. The “Zohar” tells them so. The Israeli Mossad (or Israeli elite group of some sort) have been in Iraq since day-one. Too bad few American Jews have. You know how many American Jews have died in Iraq AND Afghanistan while serving in US forces? 17! That’s less than a Mexican bus crash, for crying out loud. Proportionally, it should be over 200. What a big, fat joke! Jew dead US Servicemen And when the Jew Messiah finally comes (soon, according to them), the borders to Israel will magically expand to cover the entire globe! At least that’s what the freaky Orthodox Jews are saying about it. Trouble is, many Zionist Jews think the same and deluded Christians are going along with the whole shebang. But Evangelical Christians think it’ll really be Jesus who shows up to the little end of the world party– too bad for the Jews, eh? That’s when they’ll have to convert, since they won’t do so now. And what if it’s the Jew Messiah? Well, then the Christians get the shaft–big time– Noahide Slavery forever and for all of us Gentile Goyims. And no more Santa Claus or Easter Bunny stuff, anymore — since all Christian Idolatry will be verboten! It’s a horrific combination for us regular Americans. Power mad Pax Americans, Zionists, Money Grubbing Jews, Big Oil Fat-cats, Military/Industrial complex salesmen, Zohar Jews and Jesus Freaks. Trouble is, such things have a nasty way of getting out of hand– fast. History is littered with the dead from such thinking. And with the kinds of weapons at the fingertips of these people– we gotta lot to think about here. You think they’re going to let some Mad Iranian Mullahs and Ahmadinejad screw up their little Mideast plans by having the big stick (nukes)? Nah, they sure as hell won’t. Hell, less than a week after 9/11, General Wesley Clark says he saw a plan that listed out most of these countries (above) for eventual attack. This has been in the works for quite some time, now. The whole nine yards. They’ve had these plans from before Bush took office. That’s right, one of Bush’s former cabinet officers, Paul O’Neill, said as much in his book The Price of Loyalty, that the first week in office Bush had plans to attack Iraq. Makes you wonder about 9/11, huh? So, I guess the rest of us have to go along with all this until we find out who the real Mr. Messiah will be. Jew or Jesus? Any takers? – Hayden Talbot
