Naruto Shippuden 308 begins from the previous episode as they all quickly go to chase Hayate and the scroll. Sakura is a little concerned to see that Yugao may be compromised when she goes to get the scroll back. There is a flash back when she’s forced to go and get it. She is asked where they’ve gone after their smell disappears, she finds it.

She goes on to remember the moment she and Hayate were in love, they were practicing their sword skills in which Hayate was definitely better, with his Transparency skills he can do a lot with it. She’s asked information on his skills, which she reveals. They go on a head to find the three of them. Hayate remembers the moment he saw Yugao.

Both groups meet, the first person is quickly sealed, there is a second and Hayate left, the second enemy mentions that they should split up their enemies, he creates a shadow clone and goes, Sakura and the other go to get the others while Yugao and another stay behind to fight Hayate.

He seems to be well matched up against Hayate, however after doing a skill, Hayate gets him in a crucial hit, Hayate notices that he’s going for Yugao, she starts to run away after she’s unable to handle a sword which is thrown to her. She remembers this when she see’s his dead body.

She runs away when Hayate tries to attack her, but her team-mate gets in the way.The second enemy fighting Sakura is sealed away. Hayate then has time to escape at this point. Both the shinobi’s who tried to help Sakura and Yugao are harmed. Sakura notices that Yugao is not fine, she talks to her, asking what happened in her past which caused all of this.

She goes on to tell the past where they always trained together, she was chosen to be in the ANBU while he was the Hokage’s personal guard. He gives her a hug and tells her that it’s dangerous but he’s proud of her. One day when three ANBU’s die, he goes to see them, Yugao is there alive, they talk about Orochimaru’s needs and what he’s got planned with Kabuto. Hayate is given the order to go to see what they’ve got planned during this night.

After his death, they all find out, even Yugao finds out what’s going on, she’s unhappy by all of this. During Orochimaru’s attack they all keep on going, Yugao has nothing to do except for fight for everything, she has to fight in order to keep Hayate back, after a long day, she notices that after all the fighting, nothing has happened, she’s not even able to fighting nor handle a sword.

She tells Sakura that they were connected by the sword fighting they did, Sakura explains that she was also unable to help the man she used to love, thus she goes on to prove a point by going to find Hayate and fighting to fight. Yokaze arrives and gives her a sword to which she can fight, she’s unable to hold it until she takes the sword.

Hayate and Sakura fight, Sakura seems to have the upper hand when her attacks are compromised as Hayate uses his technique to get Sakura in his attack. She falls down and out of nowhere, Hayate arrives and uses his sword in order to attack her. He feels bad for this, but then realizes that what he attacked was a clone.

Hayate notices Yugao, she mentions that she’s there, he says thanks for her arrival. She tells Sakura to go and get the sealing corps in order to get him, since he doesn’t die. Yugao and Hayate use the same technique to which they both attack each other with clones.

They both use their special techniques to which it seems that Hayate and Yugao received small injuries. She mentions that she regrets making that promise which meant that she will do anything for him when the times comes, Kabuto tries to take his whole mind, he attacks out of nowhere, we notice that he’s missed, while Yugao has gone for his body. Sakura shows up when Hayate says his goodbyes. He’s sealed and Naruto Shippuden 308 ends here.

More stupid fillers coming next week, hopefully they’ll involve something more than just crap story line, I know that they’re trying to fill missing holes for individual people, however sometimes that can just be boring when they’re not very known, Naruto Shippuden 309, titled “An A-Rank Mission: The Contest”, returns with more fillers.

[Editor’s Note: To anyone who holds the slightest interest in the Naruto series whether it is reading the manga or watching the anime, I would not read this review for the sake of spoilers. The story of Naruto is one of the greatest tales ever created and it’s something I want as many people to experience as possible. For those who are curious, the game’s prologue starts out at Naruto manga chapters 500 and 501 and Naruto Shippuden episodes 247 and 248. However, the earliest point of Ultimate Ninja Storm 3’s story begins at Naruto manga chapters 450 and 451 and Naruto Shippuden episode 197.]

I will go ahead and get this out of the way: Naruto Shippuden is one of the greatest television shows I have ever watched and it is something I continue watching to this day.

And yes, you read that correctly. Television shows, not anime.

I remember being bored one day during summer before my senior year of high school in 2009. As a seventeen-year-old guy bored out of my mind, I had to find something to occupy myself before the dawn of my last year in high school.

In a final effort to find something to do, I decided to watch Naruto Shippuden since my cousins were nagging me to death to watch it. They claimed it was not like Naruto, a series I honestly dreaded watching because of how much it dragged on, so I figured Naruto Shippuden would be the same cup of tea, but with a random Japanese word after the name. I was not fond of subtitles either.

Since then, I have never once regretted watching the marvel that is Naruto Shippuden (even with filler). I could easily write another article over why it is such a great series, but I will keep it brief. Shippuden has a fantastic and wide cast of characters, epic battles, wonderful music, it is inspirational and it contains one of the deepest, most enthralling storylines I have ever had and continue to have the pleasure of witnessing every Thursday after classes.

As strong as my love for Shippuden is, I tend to stay away from video games with licenses to a property. Gamers, you know what I am talking about with movie-licensed games, but for the longest time, I heard of one game series doing Naruto justice: the Ultimate Ninja Storm franchise. With the Fourth Great Ninja War currently underway in both the anime and manga, I decided to pick up the series with its most recent title Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 (UNS3).

As the story mode for UNS3, Ultimate Adventure is loosely based from a certain point in the original storyline. The Village Hidden in the Leaves (Konoha) recently witnessed its own destruction by the hands of Pain, a member of the group of rogue ninjas known as the Akatsuki. Thanks to series protagonist Naruto, Pain was defeated, and Naruto became a hero of Konoha, but it was not without a price. Tsunade, the leader of Konoha known as the Hokage, used her medical abilities and saved the lives of everyone as the village was obliterated, leaving her incapacitated. Without a leader, Konoha needed to decide who the new Hokage would become with haste. As a result, Danzo, leader of a disbanded faction within Konoha, was elected as the sixth Hokage. From there, we are eventually led into the Fourth Great Ninja War against the Akatsuki.

This is what I mean by loosely. There is no way Guy, Lee and Sakura could take on six of the Hidden Mist Swordsmen by themselves

The combat of UNS3 places characters in 3D environments and really only uses one button to perform combos while using chakra to activate jutsus, the unique abilities of each ninja. Players additionally use ninja tools and Substitution Jutsus. Ninja tools range from a number of items whether it is hindering your opponent or benefiting your character. Substitution Jutsu lets you escape any attack, but it is not without limitations. Substitution has a meter allowing you to use it four times. Any time Substitution Jutsu is used, part of the meter requires time to recover before you may use it again.

Support Characters are used every now and then to shake things up. You can briefly call on these characters to assist you in battle, but require a charge time once they are called on. Support Characters will attack your opponent, defend you, or use a balance of the two. If you use Support Characters enough within a battle, the Support Gauge builds up where you can use support to its fullest whether it is in the middle of a combo or simply calling on them to pull off a better move. Support Characters add spice to battles and it is always interesting to try out a completely random combination. Haku and Ino anyone?

When a character’s health reaches below the halfway mark, players can activate a character’s Awakening. This gives you a temporary boost in power with the abilities varying from character to character. Some Awakenings simply give characters a boost in power in speed while others reflect the abilities of the character. For example, when Bee activates his Awakening, he temporarily transforms into the Eight-Tails. Once an Awakening is exhausted, not only can it not be activated again, the ability to use Ultimate Jutsus becomes restricted as well. Awakenings acting as a gamble can spice up battles in exciting ways.

Primarily popping up during boss fights, quick time events add an epic essence to the game. While the quick-time events themselves are a bit bland, CyberConnect2 takes major battles from the story and transforms them into highly action packed scenes, sometimes arguably more exciting than the anime’s version.

If quick-time events are pulled off swiftly, you will build up stars to view a Secret Factor, a small video clip showing what a character is thinking of as they are fighting. Players will also have opportunities to perform Secret Actions, turning a normal fight into a quick-time event imitating the scene from the anime. Symbols will pop up telling the player when a Secret Action can be activated, but the symbols do not specify what moves to use. Experimenting in the middle of battle is a necessity since Secret Actions could be anything from Ultimate Jutsus to throwing ninja tools. Factors nor Actions add emotion to the story, but fans will undoubtedly appreciate them.

Aside from one-on-one fights, Mob Battles shift the gameplay into third-person hack-and-slash segments where you battle against multiple opponents. While it is a neat idea for the franchise and makes sense for the war, it falls short due to clunky controls and dimwitted AI who idly stand by while you are annihilating their comrades. Furthermore, boss battles in Ultimate Adventure shift the gameplay from the norm as well. These are much more challenging and require skill with a side of patience. Bosses are more intelligent, have more health and can be quite difficult to take down.

Overall, the combat is engaging for a majority of the time, but it gets repetitive from time to time since all combos are essentially pulled off in the same way no matter which character you are using.

Every battle has bonus conditions and rankings. If certain requirements are met, players are rewarded with a wide range of unlockables, which you are constantly rewarded with whether you meet the conditions or not. The conditions vary from maintaining a certain amount of health to using specific move sets at different times and an assortment of other challenges, adding an extra zing to how fights are carried out. Rankings depend on how well you fought a battle. The higher the rank, the bigger the multiplier grows on how much Ryo you earn after a fight. However, the rankings were not consistent. During some fights, my character’s health was ringing Death’s doorbell and I somehow ended up with an S ranking. Other fights, I would pulverize my opponent and somehow end up with a C ranking.

Throughout Ultimate Adventure, you will come across Ultimate Decision sequences where you will decide to take one of two routes altering the story: Hero or Legend. Hero routes are less difficult and follow the original storyline closer while Legend routes offer harder challenges and offer a slightly different telling of the story. No matter which route you choose, the ending result will be the same. The choices do not drastically change future events similarly to a game like Mass Effect.

Additionally, Hero and Legend routes build up points to use specific items. Generally, every battle in Ultimate Adventure gives you an equal number of points for both, but choosing one or the other when the chance arises grants you more points. Hero items contain healing items and anything to help make the character you are playing as stronger. Legend items are geared towards damaging your enemy faster, but this is not explained well. The more points are built up, the more you unlock with items such as more slots and the amount of items you may have equipped within a slot.

While the decisions themselves add a fresh take to the original plot, the Hero and Legend points end up purposeless and hinder the experience a bit. What if I am a masochist when it comes to games and want to take the Legend routes (not that they’re so much more difficult), but hate the Legend items and vice versa? It does not make sense to potentially limit the players in this way.

If you wish to just fight computers or play with a friend locally, Free Battle lets you play as any character with several different ways to play. You can choose single matches or fight with Support Characters, battle in a tournament or practice performing the best moves from a character. No matter the mode, you still earn Ryo after each fight, which adds to the entertainment of wanting to play outside the story mode, and each mode is certainly fun to play whether a friend is present or not.

Although I discovered I am a terrible Ninja against real players, the online component of UNS3 worked well with only a few occasions of lag during matches. It is also great to have such an expansive way to create your own Ninja Card, which is basically your online identity in UNS3. There are a plethora of options to what you can choose for your picture and titles. It would be astounding if you found someone online with the exact same Ninja Info Card and two titles.

As a series putting out annual releases, UNS3 has a surprisingly long story mode, clocking in at 11.5 hours. Roughly half of this time is spent through cutscenes or via dialogue with the other half focusing on the fighting of course. While UNS3 is not entirely accurate at certain plot points (especially the ending) and even skims over vital parts, it serves as a great reminder for those who have not revisited past episodes of the anime for many moons.

Characters are unlocked by playing Ultimate Adventure, collecting a certain amount of Ryo or completing certain missions in free roam. It is not a chore by any means though. I acquired every character exempting one by the time I completed Ultimate Adventure, which was nice since I could immediately jump into Free Battle and play as anyone I wanted to.

Although the game states it has 80 playable characters, it is a bit of a falsity. Technically, there are 59 characters to play as (not counting support-only characters). Sasuke, for example, has three “different characters”: Sasuke when he ran with Orochimaru; Sasuke when he joined the Akatsuki; and Sasuke during his attack on the Kage Summit. No matter how you look at it, it is still a ridiculous amount of characters to play as and it will definitely give fans an awesome feeling to play as their favorite character. Accompanying the 80 characters are an astounding 40 stages set across the vast Naruto universe from Team 7’s first major mission to the battlefields of the Fourth Great Ninja War.

In the Ninja World Timeline, you can view a list of events in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, experience those battles and replay the fights from Ultimate Adventure. While the only parts containing cutscenes are during Ultimate Adventure’s story, the fights pre-UNS3 offers quick summaries to remind players of the events taking place. It replicates nearly every important battle across the Naruto storyline and feels like a nice additional bonus.

There are tons of collectibles literally ranging in the thousands. Merely saving the Ryo to buy the one thousand Ninja Info Cards and titles for your online card alone will take quite some time. To top it off, you can buy different objects when substitution jutsu is activated, audio from all of the playable characters and videos showing everyone’s Ultimate Jutsu. Not to mention there are a plethora of items to unlock in the other shops and unlockable events for the Ninja World Timeline. The amount of collectibles is staggering and it easily gives players plenty to do until the inevitable UNS4 (or Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations 2?).

Once the main storyline in Ultimate Adventure is complete, you have the option to explore the lands and undertake side quests as Naruto. While it is nifty to explore each of the hidden villages, the side quests are tedious errands you undertake for villagers. To make side quests more frustrating, the only mission where you can see the specifications is the most recent one you accepted, rendering the side quests more burdening than fun.

UNS3 has beautiful cel-shaded visuals. The lighting, shadows, pencil-like outlines of character models and vivid colors mirror the design of the anime perfectly. Parts of the story feature flashbacks from both the anime and the game, and I honestly could not tell the difference at times. CyberConnect 2: this is where I give you permission to hold your heads high with pride.

Fortunately, there is an option to switch between English and Japanese dubbings, as I – and many people who keep up with the anime can attest to – cannot stand the English voices. I know there are people out there who despise subtitles, but trust me. The quality of the Japanese voice acting is miles better than the English dub.

For strange reasons (which I’m sure have to do with licensing issues), UNS3 does not utilize the music from the anime, which easily has one of the best soundtracks around with a huge array of music from battle heavy to tear inducing. Instead, UNS3 has its own original soundtrack. Although the soundtrack is far from the same playing field as the anime’s, it is entertaining enough for fans to enjoy, though some songs are annoyingly repeated much more than others.

I am glad I finally played an Ultimate Ninja Storm game. With gorgeous cel-shaded visuals, tons of collectibles, enjoyable combat and dozens of playable characters, it is easy to see why the franchise sees annual releases and fans love them. It is too bad the game falls short when it tried to vary itself in gameplay with Hero and Legend points, dumb Mob Battles and incredibly boring sidequests after Ultimate Adventure. Still, if you are a fan of Naruto and have prevented yourself from giving the series a chance, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is well worth your Ryo. If you are not a fan, go watch the series or read the manga and wait until it drops down in price.

So this is the Korean dub of this movie. Quite honestly, it’s not bad. Of course Naruto’s voice is annoying as hell (as it is in every language).
I apologize for the little Korean info bar floating in the video. Trust me, it bothers me as much as it bothers you, but there’s nothing I can do about it.

Too lazy to summarize, let’s get to the points I like!
Note: I write this while I’m watching it so I apologize if it gets confusing when I am foreshadowing.

Best. Freaking. Opening. Ever. Remake of Kyuubi battle from Yondaime’s perspective? Omygod. I can die happy now.

And of course, there’s the comical battle! I’ll talk about this later. I made my list of Naruto movie requirements 2 movies ago. Read that post here!

The scene after that is really bitter. Horribly bitter. There going through that whole “Naruto doesn’t have parents so let’s walk over the same parts of town” sequence. I’ve honestly seen this too many times in flashbacks, now Naruto in present time is walking through the same places his normal flashbacks usually take place, all ending at the park. Well, he goes to the park, then Sakura’s house, then back to the park. Oh, the park. Those two also blew up the park. Best. Date. Evah.

So “Madara” met the two and… Oh, screw it. I’m calling him Tobi.

Tobi put Sakura and Naruto in his genjutsu alternate world. Manga prologue said it would cater to Naruto’s wishes but it just looks like an f-ed up reality. I mean like, who the hell wanted Kiba to be a cat shaman?

Okay, I take it back. That is pretty darn cute.

And Naruto’s name is now Menma. This kinda flips my shit because there was another character (filler of course) called that and in that episode, Naruto actually went on a trip to get menma for the ramen man. (ps. the ramen man doesn’t have a name). I’m going to be super pissed if our protagonist is going to be called this the remainder of the movie.

Aaaaaaand it’s gone. Good ol’ Sasuke.

What twisted… teenager logic… Sakura’s parents are dead and the first thing she thinks of is freedom. Never saw Sakura as the rebellious type…

Naruto on the other hand, all the feelz go to him! This is a really sad movie for him! It actually makes sense that Naruto is really rejecting of all the feelz. He’s been a lone wolf his whole life he doesn’t know how to react to the familial bonds. He also is aware the world is fake and is set to make things the way they are. This theme is also carried out during the war. Naruto is our protagonist and it is his job to set things straight whether he likes it or not!

Sakura on the other hand is insensitive in every possible way. Usually the guy is in certain animes, but Sakura sure plays the part. A bit too well if you ask me.

And the safe?

Again, they have this technology yet they can’t invent telephones?

Next scene!

Everybody loves the badboy. Even the badboy himself! Who knew?

Back to the feelz.

The whole flashback of the day Naruto was born? Horribly placed. Who is having the flashback? It definitely isn’t Naruto! Pretty sure he was told the story, he did not witness any of this.

Oh, and there’s this.

So the ‘Naruto’ aka Menma of this world is all evil and stuff, wouldn’t Kushina and Minato know anything about this…? Maybe it’s like when Lisanna went to Edolas and the Elfman and MiraJane of that world pretended she was their sister…? What?

The whole Naruto riding on top of Kyuubi? Horrible. Same way Naruto gets a cool outfit when he went Sage Mode in Blood Prison. Absolutely horrible. Extremely flashy and convenient, but totally fake and made up.
What could have happened was that since Menma has the ability to split up the tails and use them as monsters, he could have the ability to summon the Kyuubi outside of his body. Naruto on the other hand would have to transform completely with the Kyuubi taking over his body. This information has already been established. You can’t change it! The newly introduced character could have all the snazzy new techniques because he is new. But noooo. They had to have plot convenience so the two can have a punch fight.

From a former animation student’s point of view, the Kyuubi’s run cycle is beautiful.

And then,

What? How do those things even relate to each other? Well kinda but… what? He’ll still be able to move. Not in the right direction, but he’ll be able to move.

So Menma was possessed by an evil spirit? Did he die in the last scene? Why didn’t his parents notice he was gone nor recognize his techniques? Why did Tobi pull out chains to fight when he lost the physical body to fight? Where is the other world’s Sakura? So many plot holes!

And the man Menma kills in the beginning? Do you think he killed Tobi in that world?? That man was wearing all the Akatsuki rings. That’s probably why Tobi didn’t go to himself like we all expected.

Judging time!

It made me cry. Heck, it made Naruto cry too. First Naruto movie to make me really appreciate my life.

I heard that Kishimoto Misashi designed the characters and wrote parts of this movie so I guess I couldn’t expect any less, well except the Kyuubi part. That hopefully wasn’t him. There’s also a downside to the author’s hand in the movie. You can see it especially in the recent manga. He knows his story is coming to an end and he is cramming things in there that don’t really belong. What I’m saying is it looks like Kishimoto was never able to put parts in the story that he wanted to include so now he’s shoving them in as odd flashbacks and new information. I mean like, why would Sasuke and Itachi go on a hunting trip? Just saying it makes a lot more holes in the story. He wants to add more abstract detail, but there isn’t enough time to go full circle to let the view understand. For example in this movie, Menma was possessed in this movie that made his hair black. We don’t know why or when or how or even if it was necessary to show it dissipating away. Also the training ground that Jiraiya and Minato used.

On a more positive note, adding Sakura in was a genius move. There was somebody for Naruto to endure this challenge with rather than alone, even though he was alone in some parts. Sakura provided an extremely strong contrast as well when they switched lifestyles. Plus Sakura is rigidly selfish while Naruto is a tad bit more aware of other people’s emotions.

Naruto Shippuden Movie 6: Road to Ninja gets a whopping 5/5 for da feelz. Can’t go against da feelz.

   It’s not that special. It was a reference to how Minato defeated Tobi, though.

   This one I added today. Every movie seems to have enemies with the craziest technology. I believe there were flying ninjas. You heard me, flying ninjas in Shippuden movie 2.

   Am I still in the same movie…?

7. Evil henchmen
   Another I added, but this goes for any action movie in existence. All bad guys have henchmen to carry out their dirty work or they wouldn’t be the bad guy!

   Is that a… seahorse?

That concludes my review of this movie. Kind of went screenshot crazy because I love making screenshots! Look! A baby fox!

Well resembles is a stretch, but it did remind me of it because they’re both so small and cute!

I must warn you, that since this episode did not move the story any further, I will treat it the same way I did with the last one. Namely, I will put in lots of screenshots that I liked, instead of writing things ^_^

They put all five kage into this opening. I can make a good guess why. At least they did not put there any actual panels from the manga, as they did last time.

Well, now, let’s move on to the actual episode. The episode was supposed to be about this guy, Hayate Gekkō:

Hayate Gekko, reanimated form.

He was brought back to life by Kabuto (I have a feeling that we have seen this scenario already). He is going to fight his former lover Yugao. But the point is, that Hayate does nothing, or close to nothing the whole episode. So, now that I mention him, we will go back to admiring pretty pictures from the episode :3

Or look at this one, below. You know, I think that the whole personality change of Gaara is as far from the realism as the Sun is far from the Earth, still, I like seeing how different he used to be from what he is now.

He used to be frowning and be displeased all the time

Now he never frown or show irritation. You just can’t change that fast. Basically, I see him as two different characters, and what is funny, both versions of Garra are on the top of the list of my favourite characters from this anime.

You can tell that by the amount of picture of him I put in my posts ^_^

Also, we have got something, that was not in the original series:

I don’t recall Gaara revealing this form before his fight with Sasuke. Might be I am forgetting things, as I usually do

Also, as usual, they had to put some gore into the episode:

And you know what? When we get back to the main story, they will start taking gore scenes out again.

Also, I like that they put some emphasis on the work of medical ninja.

The work of a medic during a war is an interesting thing by itself. I would watch an anime about it, if there will be such one.

Forget for a moment that it is a cartoon and imagine yourself in a situation like this. You try to save man’s life, you fail, but you have no time to think about it, cause the next patient is waiting. But you won’t forget that someone just died in your hands, and now someone else entrusted you with his life.

Naruto Shippuden 307 begins as a number of already injured soldiers start dying from a number of different sorts of injuries from the enemies. Everyone is seen also trying to see if they can save anyone, they keep on fighting with all they’ve got towards the enemy. Kabuto mentions that it’s time to begin, he brings forth Hayate Gekko, who asks what has happened.

Kabuto begins to tell him that it’s a war which is going on, there are multiple bodies all around them who have died, he’s been alone working there in order to help with the war. He begins to tell a story to what happened in the past during the matches. He goes on to talk to Baki, he mentions that before he gives him the plans, he wants to see how Gaara really is, as he wants to use Gaara to fight Sasuke.

After they stop talking they notice how the fight is going, Dosu Kinuta from the Sound is seen talking to Gaara, which is quickly angered, he quickly transforms into a form which is seen during the fight when Gaara fought Naruto and Sasuke. He completely destroys him after Gaara is seen getting a little out of control.

During all of this Hayate Gekko is hearing all of this, he even finds out that the one tailed is also there. He hears everything there is to, he also deactivates his mirage and tries to escape, but at this point he makes a noise which both Kabuto and Baki notice, they mention that they will take care of it, but Baki goes to fight him. At this point Kabuto keeps on explaining more of whats happening in the current place. Kabuto also gave Baki the plans which he intended to give to him.

We notice that at Sasuke’s camp there is a personnel which uses her skills in order to trap the elite soldiers in her scroll, she uses this in order to make sure that the elite soldiers are not taken by the other people especially Kabuto, thus they don’t get Edo Tensei. Baki and Hayate fight, one keeps on pushing the other.

They seem to be even until Hayate uses his sword, it gets trapped within Baki’s gear, this time it’s Baki’s turn, he mentions that his sword was sharp but not effective enough, he then uses his own type of wind sword which horribly cuts Hayate Gekko, through tout this Kabuto is watching on. He then uses it even further to strike him whilst his in the air. He’s leaf there where Kabuto wants to get him for his Edo Tensei.

Other people approach, saying that they heard noises so want to know whats happening, they notice Kabuto, he mentions that he’s only passing by, they ask a few questions but move on, he was able to collect some hair samples which is required for him to do the Edo Tensei. Kabuto keeps on explaining that it’s still around.

He then brings more human bodies, he uses his Edo Tensei to bring two other members back to life, he places his tags on them allowing him to control them. He will be used in order to bring something back for him, all three of them will be used for this purpose. At the camp, we see Yugao Uzuki asked by another member why she doesn’t go to fight in the war, she mentions that she can no longer do this because of her personal reason, she’s called to the tent when there’s an explosion.

Everyone goes towards it when they notice three of them, with Hayate Gekko being one of them. They appear to be taking the scroll, Yugao Uzuki notices him, Hayate also notices her, Sakura seems to also know he is. They try to get the scroll back but the two shinobi’s are just too powerful for them to handle, they defeat and kill some members and escape, at this point Yugao and Hayate look at each other.

Sakura and some other members are told to go after them, Yugao is also told to go after them. Message is also assigned to be sent to HQ to tell them to send more enforcement so they can help out. Yugao mentions that she’s not able to go because the man they were looking at, Hayate was her lover! Naruto Shippuden 307 ends here.

A somewhat useless filler, I expect the next episode to be the same. I just can’t wait for next week’s episode to be the same. The only good thing about this episode which I saw was probably the new opening and ending. Nevertheless, next week’s Naruto Shippuden 308, titled “Night of the Crescent Moon”, will be about Hayate and Yugao and their past love.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is by far one of the most enjoyable fighting games I’ve played in a long time.I finally got to play my first Naruto Shippuden game and I was so glad it was from the Ninja Storm series. I’ve been a huge fan of Naruto since I first started reading it in Shonen Jump magazine and was instantly hooked.

Spoilers ahead, so don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 begins at the very beginning, literally, you start the game fighting the Nine-Tailed Fox in Konoha, Naruto’s hometown but the fight is set during the birth of Naruto himself. We’ve never really been given a real glimpse of that fight but now we can experience the attack of the dreaded fox ourselves as well as the person who staged it simply dubbed “the masked man”. It’s a great way to start a game that has so much to deal with the Fourth Hokage and the Nine tails and how it is all so connected to that very beginning and explains how Naruto isn’t just a war orphan whose parents died during the attack of the fox.

Enough story; you came to hear about the game itself and that’s what you’re getting. The fight between Hokage and Masked Man is in full swing and after defeating him once you suddenly take on the role of Third Hokage fighting the Fox itself while jumping from roof-top to roof-top and using all sorts of Jutsu (Ninja Skills) to fend him off. Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 really shows its visual beauty in fights like this and gives you a taste of future things to come in your journey through it. When do you finish off the Fox as the third you are thrust back into the fight against the Masked Man once again. The game does this in a very smooth way so it seems like you are just watching another episode of the anime itself, one that you get to be in control of and choose your own path.

The transitions are different from the usual and at some point I’m sure the developers were thinking to themselves that maybe it wouldn’t be such a good idea to just thrust players from one fight to another without any sort of intro or warning but since every fight is story based and needed to advance the plot it never felt like a filler event just to extend the game time.

As this is my first Ninja Storm game I don’t have anything to compare it too but combat felt really fast and quite responsive, exactly what I expected from a fighting ninja game, I mean seriously who wants a slow ninja? I have done a bit of research and learned of a few tweaked mechanics such as you can enter certain characters “Awakened” state on command instead of during low health situations where it might have been your only way to make any sort of comeback, personally I’m not sure how I feel about that as I would have liked to experience the feeling of hope and know I might still have a chance versus being able to start at your most powerful state right from the beginning and not having a last ditch attack to use. Doesn’t matter much in story mode as I all I wanted was to be able to use sage mode on command, which you can’t! What was the point of spending all the time training for the skill only for it to be used once during a cutscene and very shortly during one other fight?

Speaking of story mode and tweaks, a new addition is the path system. During certain fights you will be able to choose between the “Legend” or “Hero” path, both give you points and advance the story but I went legend the whole way through and it opened up tons of scenes and fights that aren’t part of the anime, the best one for me was the final battle where you fight all six reanimated Jinchuriki or tailed beast hosts at once with no help when you choose “Legend”, the “Hero” path split the fight into a one versus three in two sections, one for Naruto and one for Killer Bee, the other host that has not been captured, but I felt that wouldn’t give me that sense of being a bad ass, just for future reference I regretted that decision as it took me close to an hour to get past that part alone.

These decisions make it so the game differentiates from the plot of the show so it doesn’t feel like you are watching the exact same thing you might have finished on the last episode, no matter the choice you always end up going back to the correct time line and can’t do anything crazy like become a rogue ninja and attempt to destroy your allies, not that anyone would do that…right ? I certainly wouldn’t be against it. The ending of Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is a totally non-canon and it was probably the biggest disappointment in the entire game for me. It’s true that the game is supposed to only show what’s currently been aired but it went much further than that, quite far into the manga to a point where I was getting really hyped up by how much story was actually being given to us and I almost expected to at least find out why there were suddenly two Madara Uchiha kicking everyone’s butt in the battlefields. *Spoiler! You find out the real Madara died and he is the reanimated one that gets brought back during the final chapters so the “Masked Man” goes back to being named “Tobi”, though he says names have no meaning.

Regardless the game ends exactly how the manga and show would with Naruto defeating “Tobi” and his mask falling off so we can see his face…wrong. we never see his face and are left with the biggest cliffhanger ever which is where the game diverts from being canon to non-canon and the war ends at that with Naruto going back to Konoha and the game entering a free roam state where you get to do event after event to unlock a few more characters that get added to the versus roster. A major letdown for some fans but one that gives us time to hone our skills till the next Ninja Storm.

After the story you can free roam as previously stated but I would like to add that you could do so during the game and nothing ever happened, events don’t start to happen until you beat the story, it was just a way of going from one load screen to the other, one that really annoyed me when I had to spend 10 minutes walking through a town just to hit a load screen with cutscenes that took me miles away and about to enter a fight, really unnecessary. Load screens were also used too often in my opinion and until I installed the game to the hard-drive were really annoying me to the point where I walked away a few times knowing there would be a few lines of dialogue, another load and then finally get to fight.

As much as I would have liked to go online and get my butt kicked by the pro Storm players I was never able to make a connection or join one in the online battle mode, I blame my crappy apartment internet but I hope to get that fixed soon. I hear it’s a blast with people seriously dedicated solely to mastering each and every technique the game
has at its disposal.

In conclusion Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 improves upon the previous games with faster combat, great visuals and incredible responsive controls. The game manages to keep me connected to each character even during the ridiculous fights I had to go through thanks to such a great story, even if it does have a few parts that aren’t quite how I expected them to turn out, Ninja Storm 3 keeps the player fully engrossed into the action and leaves them hanging for the next installment of our future Hokage’s story and hopefully see the final climactic battle between friends.

Flashback fillers are notoriously bad. Naruto has a lot of flashbacks during the canon storyline, so adding more is not a best thing to do in the first place.

Coming to this particular episode, it was above my expectations, though they were really low. The plot was still awful, but as a comedy relief it was good enough. But since writing about jokes seems to be a dumb thing, we will talk about plot holes and such instead ^_^

Hinata and Neji

First of all let’s look at the story. Neji overdid it with training Hinata and she lost the use of her eyes for a while. Neji learned that there is a plant, that is growing in some very dangerous valley and he goes there and Naruto and Sakura go with him. Now, can you imagine Neji (or Sakura) doing something that stupid? I can hardly do so.

Knowing that obsession with eyepatches, I think we can consider blindfolded Hinata to be a fanservice

Next thing that should not have been in the episode was Kakashi’s Lightning Blade. You saw that, right? He just jumped, used Raikiri to show off and make his appearance flashier and canceled the jutsu. That is not right at all.

And the last thing was that they took Sasuke out to see fireworks. I seem to remember that there were some fillers put in, in around this time, but frankly, I think that instead of going to see fireworks with Naruto, Sasuke should be lying in his bed untill that famous moment when he and Naruto went at each other with all they have got.

They are sad because of the mess all those flashbacks make.

But all that, what I said, it does not make the episode very bad or something. Nevermind the story, we can just look at the screen and admire the animation work ^_^ Here is a ton of screenshots that I took from the episode:

Naruto Shippuden 306 begins while Hinata trains for the Senbon Sparring, Neji shows up to tell her that he will train her instead of a person from the head since they’re out at this point. They quickly begin, Hinata doesn’t give up so easily, she keeps on going till it’s the afternoon, and quickly night time. She keeps on going. Next day she meets Sakura.

When Sakura touches her, she’s quickly escapes her hand, Sakura notices that she’s bruised all over the place, she asks who did this, Hinata tells her that it’s for a clan thing where she needs to become strong. Sakura quickly tells her that she wanted to get her to come out with her for the fireworks when Tsunade finally becomes the Hokage. She needs her there so she can stay with Naruto while Sakura can be with Sasuke.

She’s quickly embarrassed, but after a bit she tells Sakura that she’s definitely coming. That night she keeps on going, she keeps on, after a few days she keeps on going, but this time she looses her cool and it seems like she’s straining herself at this point. During one of Neji’s attacks, she over does it and quickly falls down, Neji wonders what has happened and calls for the doctors.

The doctor tells Neji that she’s strained her eyes, it would take sometime for her eyes to be fine but she’ll be fine. Next day, Neji meets with Naruto and Sakura, they ask where Hinata is, he doesn’t give them any information on where she is. Naruto mentions that they’ll just go to her house. Neji slips out that she’s currently recuperating, Sakura unfortunately mentions that she won’t be able to see the fireworks. Neji doesn’t seem to show any interest on her going with them.

Hinata keeps on moving around the house, while Neji silently helps her out, she asks if there is anyone there, he doesn’t respond and it seems like Hinata is talking to herself. The doctors check her and it seems like it’s going to take a bit more time. Neji chases the doctors up, while Sakura and Naruto snoop on him. He mentions if there is anything they can do to help with Hinata’s eyes, as she needs to go to see the fireworks. The doctor mentions that if they can get some Eyebright then maybe, it’s only available at the Valley of Judgement.

Naruto and Sakura stand at the door to get out. Neji arrives, they mention that they overheard Neji talking about getting the Eyebright. They quickly start follow him, they arrive at the valley, he mentions that he wants to out first to see what’s down there. Naruto gets a red string and attached himself to Sakura. Neji notices something down there, he’s quickly attacked from the things in the mist.

Sakura and Naruto notice that they’re in danger, Neji comes and saves them, he cuts the rope and tells him to find his destiny with his own, not with something else like a sting. They’re quickly attacked, Naruto fly’s and hits a member, they notice something very particular about the people there.

Out of nowhere appears Guy, he uses his Hurricane Whirlwind to remove from mist then Kakashi shows up to light it up a little. They both mentions that they heard someone was looking for the Eyebright, they thought it could have been Orochimaru as he had interest in eye techniques. Unfortunately Kakashi tells Neji that it’s impossible for them to get the Eyebright as the people living there will possibly fight back, plus the way they are is totally different. They didn’t have any eyes, thus they could be using other methods of sensing things.

Unfortunately Neji’s doesn’t obtain anything from them, they quickly get out of there and it seems that Hinata will have to wait a week. On the day, everyone dresses up and they seem to be having a good time, the fireworks begins, everyone watches. Unfortunately Hinata doesn’t have her eyes yet, but she can hear them.

We return to the battle where Hinata tells Neji that Naruto and Sakura had told her about what he did, thus she wants to tell him one thing, which is for her to thank him. Hinata then mentions that this is nothing compared to what she had gone through. Plus she waits for Naruto’s arrival onto their battleground to help them. Naruto Shippuden 306 ends here.

A good and not very related to the current series episode. Although it was something related to Naruto and Hinata, and their childhood, it was a somewhat good episode. Hopefully it picks up during next week’s Naruto Shippuden 307, titled “Fade into the Moonlight”, when we return to the battle with a specialist is resurrected, it’s not part of the manga, thus a filler.
