Du kanske inte bör sätta på en smörig Whitney Houston-ballad när din dejt tittar över på middag eller myskväll. Men inte heller en hårdrockslåt. 

Så vad kan då räknas som bra “dejtingmusik”?

Jo, såhär tycker jag: 

1. Det ska vara chill musik, men inte för mycket á la Lugna Favoriter. (De ska kunna fungera som lite lounge-musik och lätta upp en något stiff stämning utan att bli för sentimentala och blödiga)

2. Låtarna ska beröra men inte ta över fokuset från just Er.

3. Musiken ska förvandla ett Bra hångel till ett Superbra hångel. (Ni vet de stunder då man kan känna att “fan det känns ju helt fucking underbart det här, precis som att vara med i den mest klyschigt romantiska filmscenen någonsin, bara att det faktiskt sker här och just nu, i mitt vardagsrum.)
 

Okej, alla låtar stämmer inte in på samtliga 4 punkter, men vissa bättre, andra sämre.

I’m a measly 4,500 words off my goal.

It couldn’t be helped. There weren’t enough hours in the weekend to work, hang out with some friends, and write. Something had to be dropped. Stuck between real life and the imaginary, I had to choose the real. I’m pretty sure that it was worth it, too.

The cheesy romance is going quite well though. There have been an ample amount of villians, an appropriately studly hero, a possible love-triangle, and a chance for someone to have amnesia. Maybe I should be writing a serial soap opera instead.

What a glorious day it’s been … sun shining, warm air, gentle breeze … with the crisp crunch of leaves under foot as you walked along. It was so beautiful, in fact, that I didn’t mind at all scooping up litter as I strolled through my neighbourhood this afternoon. No, really….

I even managed to find a stray glove that had either been lost, or flung aside when the sun warmed everything up to a balmy 16 C degrees. I hooked the glove to a nail on a nearby telephone poll in case the person finds they need it once November begins to feel like November again. (You know, dark, dreary, teeth-chatteringly damp.)

I’ve titled this post “Litter lady light” because although I filled up the bag I brought along with me, everything seemed very lightweight. There were the usual Tim Hortons coffee cups, water bottles and cola cups big enough to swim in, along with a disturbing number of cigarette packs, but not the heavy stuff like old shoes or pieces of tire, that I sometimes find.

Another plus about the sun shining so brightly was that each discarded wrapper or pop can jumped out at me like … well, wrappers and pop cans. They looked glaringly out of place against the still-green grass and the autumn leaves.

Leaves, hmmm … guess that takes care of my next deed ….

Every year, KISS 106.1 hosts Jingle Bell Bash and usually you can expect the typical mainstream artists that they always play on the radio. It’s become a little bit predictable when you see Fall Out Boy, The Pussycat Dolls, The Jonas Brothers and Natasha Bedingfield on a lineup

This year, KISS 106.1 has become… what’s the word…scene? It’s not quite mainstream completely, but they’ve chosen a lineup of bands that to the rest of the world might all sound similar. I know they’re not only because I’ve been listening to these bands for quite some time, but what is their  fan base going to think when they see no hip hop? They could’ve been expecting Lady Gaga, Jay Sean, or that adorable 15-year old Justin Beiber.

A cantora britânica Natasha Bedingfield, Estelle e o roqueiro Gavin Rossdale, ex-líder do Bush e marido de Gwen Stefani, se apresentaram no evento Rock The Kasbah, evento beneficente promovido por Richard Branson, fundador da Virgin, na noite dessa segunda-feira (26).

Além dos músicos, celebridades, como a atriz Lindsay Lohan, também marcaram presença. De acordo com o jornal britânico Daily Mail, o dinheiro arrecadado com o evento, que ainda incluiu um leilão, será revertido para a Virgin Unite e a The Even Branson Foundation, instituições de caridade mantidas pela Virgin.

Os convites para o evento foram vendidos em pacotes incluindo jantares e áreas VIP. Esses pacotes custaram entre US$ 750 (cerca de R$ 1,2 mil) e US$ 150 mil (R$ 259 mil).

Piccola curiosità, nel 2005 ha partecipato ai Brits Award cantando con il fratello, ed è così entrata nel guinnes dei primati come unici fratelli primi in classifica. Vizio di famiglia eh?

Last night, my kindergartener showed me the latest page she had completed in her Barbie coloring book. On it, she had used multiple colors (a departure from her usual pink and purple), had proudly printed her name at the bottom, and had confined her coloring within each figure. I praised her for a job well done, and commented that, as she had been taught, Amanda had colored inside the lines.

The words of my own elementary school teachers still ring in my head when I think about staying inside the lines. Why did my fellow students and I strive to do that? Because it made for a better picture. Staying inside the lines was neater, crisper, and just plain prettier. Kids whose penmanship was neat and fit without difficulty on each line and within the margins of the yellow paper were always rewarded with gold stars. Staying inside the lines was expected.

Over the past several years, I have often considered the notion of coloring inside the lines. Perhaps more so after listening to Natasha Bedingfield’s 2006 pop hit “Unwritten.” In it, she emphatically declares that “sometimes my tries are outside the lines …. we’ve been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can’t live that way.” The message of the song – that your life is yours to take control of – has made me realize that many of the decisions of my young adult years have been based on staying inside the lines. Providing a neater picture, doing what was expected, moving in a direction of seeming reward. Many of us by nature strive to please others and play by the rules, operating in the comfort zone of knowing we are doing what society expects of us. And for a great many of us, this is exactly what we SHOULD be doing.

But is staying inside the lines the approach we should all take? Looking around a large social network, I see many who color inside the lines …. are they satisfied? I would venture that some are. But are these socially acceptable attributes invariably the keys to happiness: Being married to your college sweetheart – with 2 children – in a lucrative 9 to 5 job – living in the right house – in a good neighborhood with a finely manicured lawn – with two SUVs – doing volunteer work – taking an annual summer vacation – with a big (albeit recently diminished) 401K and kids’ college savings?

I have found that throughout my 30s, I have been striving for these socially expected pieces of a life that may not be the one meant for me. Sometimes life isn’t pretty and can’t be. Sometimes the packaging and presentation of the pieces of our lives are not what we envisioned for ourselves. Sometimes we have to look within for the rewards, not to the teacher or the boss or our neighbors. In the midst of tremendous personal transition this year, I have never heard this message so clearly.

A dear friend recently said to me – as I complained of the many unclear areas of my life – that my life is right now a blank canvas on which I can paint anything I want. I think I am going to grab a few paintbrushes …. And maybe start an abstract piece.

Despre Natasha Bedingfiled  nu vreau sa spun multe lucruri.  E celebra, are talent, dar nu canta tocmai genul meu de muzica preferat. Insa, din remixul cu Chicane, a rezultat o combinatie superba. Vocea ei, cu o claritate demna de laudat, impreuna cu ritmul de la Saltwater, alcatuiesc o piesa inconfundabila.

Variante la acest “duo” exista destule.  Tiesto, Adam K si altii au creat fiecare versiunea lor. Personal, prefer remixul lui Michael Woods. Astept pareri. Poate ar trebui sa facem si un top al celor mai buni “remixeri”.
