My Nephew Jaret is turning 11 (or is it 12) next week. I started off making this a standard size card and scored at the wrong area. So I made it into a money or gift card holder.

I won’t even tell you what pattern paper I used. I know you don’t want to here it. Here’s the rest New Leaf (Paper Trey Ink), Kraft Cardstock for the Faux Chipboard J and dark chocolate twill ribbon again from paper trey ink.

This is my last post for today. I hope you’ve had as much fun as I have celebrating our special day.

This is my last post for today. I hope you’ve had as much fun as I have celebrating our special day. With Mother’s Day around the corner, I thought I’d conclude with some super cute free downloads we have on our website from our special issue, 101 Hip Handmade Gifts, which would make perfect gifts for Mom. Using my scrapbook supplies to make gifts for others is one of my favorite hobbies. If you’re anything like me (or you want to make some cute things for your own home), you’ll like these ideas.

The following downloads can be found here:

Cooking Set

Here’s some of what you’ll find to download for this set:

Give Mom your favorite recipe on this cute recipe card:

Set the table with your napkins wrapped in these pretty numbers:

Top off your handmade basket of gifts with this stylin’ tag:

Print these happy numbers on magnets and Mom will have the cutest fridge in town:

And last but not least, give Mom a personalized apron by printing this image on iron-on paper and adhering it:

You think this set is sassy? We also have downloads for the following gifts:

Gardening Set

Sewing Set

CD Set

And it wouldn’t be grand finale without an awesome giveaway. How does the Easy Bradmaker Kit from Chatterbox sound? This is one tool that would love to go home to you! Plus, I’ll throw in a copy of our special issue, 101 Expert Solutions for Scrapbooking.

Do you want to win? You know the drill. It involves leaving a comment. This time you can tell me anything your heart desires. I love hearing from you and look forward to reading your notes. From the comments received, I’ll randomly select two winners.

Winner Announcement

I’ll announce the winners of this and all of my NSD contests on this blog on Tuesday. As a friendly reminder, only those comments received today will qualify.

Thanks so much for joining me in this scrapbooking celebration today. I’ve had fun getting to know you all a bit better and am already looking forward to next year’s festivities.

Happy NSD 2009!

Megan Hoeppner, Creative Editor

P.S. If you’re having trouble creating and posting a cover for this giveaway you can simply e-mail me the cover layout you would have uploaded. Images need to arrive today and can be sent to letters@creatingkeepsakes.com. Please put “Cover Girl” in the subject line. Thanks!

Here’s #6. The challenge was to use pattern paper and a die cut machine. So I used my Cricut Tages, Bags, Boxes and more cartridge to cut out this cut box. The heart Tag is also from the TBBM cart.

Oh and guess what paper I used. Yep K&Co.

Off to challenge #7. Faux chipboard.

So, how are things going thus far? Are you having a good time? I know I am. And I’m about to have an even better time, because I’m going to talk deals and free stuff. There’s much going on today (and this month) in the way of special scrapbooking deals and giveaways. Here’s some of the fun to be found:

CK Blog Blasts

In addition to this blog, you can find celebrations on the following CK family blogs:

Mandy Douglass has some tricks up her creative sleeve. Check her blog for details.

Amanda Probst is celebrating by giving away an assortment of scrapbooking supplies on her blog.

Jessica Sprague is giving away two scrapbooking classes on her blog.

Emily Falconbridge is doing a delightful weekend giveaway on her blog, not necessarily for NSD but she does have lots of craft goodness included.

Kelly Noel and Maggie Holmes are both participating in the Studio Calico NSD challenge. Visit their blogs for amazing layout ideas and even more prizes!

Mou Saha has posted some stunning project ideas on her blog today. Trust me, you don’t want to miss these beautiful ideas.

Tiffany Tillman has information on {i}NSD (International Scrapbook Day) on her blog, including discount offers and fresh project ideas.

Stacy Julian has information on a 50% off coupon for Big Picture Scrapbooking on her blog.

And I’ve even prepared a little blog bonanza of my own on my personal blog. I’m giving away goodies and sharing why it’s important to give a hoot about scrapbooking (you’ll see).

More Online Fun

There are also many manufacturers, magazines, kit clubs and online groups celebrating today. For a list of some of those participating, check out the Scrapbook Update blog.

Your Hot Spots

Now it’s your turn to share. Are you doing something special on your blog to celebrate? Or do you know where another NSD party is happening. Share your tip/link in the comments section of this post. From the tips received, I’ll be drawing two winners, who will each receive a copy of Scrapbook Play with Photos (the latest special issue from Simple Scrapbooks magazine) and a pack of American Crafts ribbon* (who doesn’t love ribbon).

Be back with more soon!

In America they are calling it National Scrapbook Day – but there are a bunch of other countries that do this too. I am pretty sure that Australia has it going on as well.

The MIL mentioned attending a workshop that will go on all day. I miss that being out here.

However I won’t miss out – I am having a national scrapbook day myself. Being on my own without a LSS and isolated won’t stop me. I am joining in some online fun and working on some hybrid stuff at the same time.

Don’t you just love the digi world!

Talking of hybrid – check out The Hybrid Chick blog. They have wonderful tutorials and inspiration. Best of all they have a bunch of free giveaways just for {i}NSD

Make sure you leave a comment on each one, and you’ll have a chance to win this:

If you are looking for some challenges, check out the Art Freckles Events section in our forum, for some great challenges & inspiration to help celebrate today!

What better day than NSD to release a new Art Freckles Kit! Check out what the awesome Design Team gets to work with this month:)

May ‘Fly Away Home’ Kit

This kit features gorgeous papers and rub-ons from Chatterbox’s Fabulous line, a heart warming Daisy Bucket stamp, and Art Freckles own ‘ART Houses’ (amongst other yummy items!)

The kit is available in the store now, but quantities are really limited on this one, so don’t delay!

I love to Scrapbook, and the Art Freckles Kits have never disappointed me:) In fact, it’s usually easier to scrap with one of Shannon’s kits, as everything goes together beautifully, and you always have way more than enough:)

From the March “Nest of Treasure” Kit one of my favorite LO’s is this one of my Kitten, Sissy:

Everything on this Layout comes from the kit, the ONLY exception is the “?” Mark, it is from my stash, and painted to match. What I love about this LO, besides the fact that everything came from the Kit, lol is that DH & I will always look at this LO in the future and remember. We’ll remember the fact her nickname is “Kitten”, and also our fascination with the Joker (played by Heath, even though I still love Jack’s version too)

It is one of my more simple LO’s and one of my favorites too:) It’s a 5X7 Photo, matted horizontally & vertically, inked and attached to the pretty Patterned Paper:) Added my Title and I’ve got my keepsake:)

And That is why I scrapbook to make sure I remember! lol With this memory I have in my thirties, I definitely need my scrapbooks when I’m older…rofl!

I wish all you Scrapbookers Out there a Fabulous Day Today! Scrap Lots!!

There’s been a “Top 10 Things to do for National Scrapbooking Day” out for a few years now, so I thought I’d break it out again for 2009!

Attend a crop or scrapbooking party! Of course, this would be #1 on the list! There is nothing better, and more motivating, than to scrap with friends! If you didn’t plan to attend a crop, be spontaneous and consider inviting some friends over!

Go shopping! At Scrappin’ Good Times. How can you resist all the new paper and embellies the store has to offer!!

Scrap by yourself! We all do this on other days of the year, but at the very least, do some scrapbooking by yourself today if you aren’t getting together with others.

Learn a new technique! SGT has lots of great classes. Why not learn to use Copic markers–check out Chelle’s Copic Workshop in May

Join a new email list/blog…..personally I think SGT is the best!!!

Submit your best layouts to magazines!

Organize!!!! A neat scrapping space is essential to creating your masterpieces.

Scraplift!! Come into SGT for inspiration & ideas. Or spend some time reviewing your favorite scrapping magazines.

Try something different! If you have always thought of using something non-scrapbooking related in your album, spend some time doing just that!

Teach! I think one of the best ways to spend Nat’l Scrapbooking Day is to teach a non-scrapper your favorite hobby!

Well Barb and I stayed out a little later last night. We were busy assembling the National Scrapbook Day Goodie Bags for all of you lucky ladies that will be attending on Saturday. Did you think that there was a scrapbook fairy that filled those? We had a fun time doing it though.

There is so much great stuff in those bags! There might actually be two bags missing by this Saturday. But don’t check my car or Barb’s… they won’t be in there either. Have a wonderful time cropping! Maybe I will stop by and say hi.
