Next up, the necro. One of the most used heros but not much for actual human players. Also the only profession I pvp on.

When most people think of necromancers, they immediately think about the Sabway and Discord team buids. Those are obviously very good builds. I use them quite a bit. I like the balance of sabway but the spiking of discord. There is also a full 8-man discord team build. I’ve only used it once but man does it kick ass! haha

But my favourite thing about the necro isn’t being a MM (heros are better at that) or a curses/death magic necro. I love the blood magic. It’s sooo overestimated. When I first started using blood magic people would call me a noob. Saying blood magic doesn’t do any damage. But trust me. -9 health degen for about 20 seconds AND stealing about 50 health per skill, DOES do a lot of damage. AND it heals me at the exact same time. You’re constantly doing damage and getting healed at the same time. I <3 life stealing.

The build I use is quite awesome in pvp. It's not very effective against a monk of ele, and sometimes mesmers, but everything else is pretty easy. melee + ranged… throw on insideous parasite. Then you're gainging health from your attacks from the blood magic skills and their attacks. Another good skills for pvp is well of blood. It uses a body which is good when you have a MM on the opposite party (or a very annoying one on yours) but you can heal yourself and others at the same time. Well builds work well in JQ. Kill the first person on the radar and throw up a degen well. Then once the shrine is yours, put up a well of blood. So many shrines get killed by necro bombers or roj monks and die. This way, if you can get the well up in time, they wont start dying to degen cause they'll have a good amount of regen.

A lot of pvpers also use necro bombers and touchers. I've never really used either but they're both actually good builds. A lot of people call touchers noobs but they do kill pretty well.

Necros are also very good for team stuff. Spiteful spirit builds are looked for a lot when there is a tank. That is my main build for FoW. Throw on SS, reckless haste, insideous and suffering and they're attacking faster, meaning taking more damage, getting degen, and I'm gaining health. It does take up quite a bit more energy but if you have sig of lost souls and high soul reaping, you're usually pretty good. You can't spike it all at once but when things are constantly dying, you're constantly gaining energy, and good chunks if your soul reaping is high

I love books that are embroiled in fantasy – supernatural creatures, other worlds, you name it, I love it. One of the best authors in this genre (In my opinion, of course) is Laurell K. Hamilton. 

Laurell has written a massive series about a vampire slayer called Anita Blake (17 and counting) This is no Buffy wannabe series. Anita is a short, impatient necromancer (raises the dead) who also works for the police. She carries a gun, she hates girly things and she is absolutely against dating men of other “species.” She goes on to fall for both a powerful vampire and an alpha werewolf. Life isn’t simple for Anita. She fights for her life, bones are broken, scars are earned and friends are lost. Every book leads her dangerously into a world she can never escape from. 

Thats one series by Laurell K Hamilton. The other, is about a woman named Meredith Gentry. She works for a fey detective agency in the human world. In this series, there are also faeries. The Fey, the Sidhe, the Seelie. The world knows of them, treats them like royalty, like celebrities. There is the Dark Court and the Light Court. Meredith is a Princess from the Dark Court, and ran away to the human world to escape the vicious full-powered fey from her court. Meredith’s powers are little and few, and she finds her life threatened in her mythical world. But then she is hunted down by both courts and is dragged back, given the opportunity to become Queen of the Dark Court if she can get pregnant and finally give the Fey fresh blood.

These books are gorgeously dark, violent and filled with sex. This is a series about a people who have been around for thousands and thousands of years – with histories unlike any we could ever imagine. There is beauty and horror, love and betrayal, pain (Lot’s of pain) and pleasure (Lots of that too!). Eight books in this series so far, and not ONCE do you get bored. Not once do you think “Oh this has been done”. This is so amazingly different, so well written and so powerfully character driven that I hop up and down with excitement whenever I hear a new installment is coming out. I never know which direction Meredith is going to go in this story. She isn’t perfect, and with so much threatening her, things get confused and change quickly. But you just can’t help but read on to find out what happens next. Will she live or die? Will she get pregnant before her sadistic cousin Cel knocks up someone else and kills Meredith just for kicks? Who is more evil? Meredith’s Aunt, the Queen of the Dark Court or Meredith’s Uncle, the King of the Light Court? Who should she trust? Who should she help?

Absolutely wonderful, beautiful, enthralling writing that changed my literary life. I advise anyone who enjoys reading, especially this genre, to give it a go.

I woke up the Necromancer sleeping next to me, although at the time I thought he was a Paragon. That’s what Necromancer’s do; hypnotize you early on so you envision only your ideal.

The Mouth of Moses

Alarmed, I called my supervisor, and ask if anyone is working. The answer is no. I don’t stop there, I watch dutiful around the clock until everyone meets at the office on Tuesday, and I file a report with the Bureau. This was the perfect storm. Everything was in place for a pattern involving a collision: a large high pressure system and a cold front, and I stand caught in the middle of a once in a life time event.

The events that transpire over the summer until my final day, my birthday – August 31, 2009 – have too many moving pieces and parts to put into anything other than a novel….I have tentatively named “The Cherry On Top”. For blog sake, I’ll tell you how the story ends after my birthday.
I lost my job, estranged from my family, lost my planned future, in the middle of a divorce, my phone number was stolen, my accounts were wiped out, and my trust of everyone was gone.
I decided to do simple things: eat, sleep, exercise, write, think, reflect, decompress, seek advice, and focus on what I learned. I discovered I was capable of rebuilding my own laptop, I discovered I had a commitment to the laws of the Constitution, I discovered how to face my inner most pain and in doing so, I found my truth. I discovered I was on the wrong path in my life, I discovered I had people who loved me enough to forgive my shortcomings. I found out that more people were good than people were bad. I found out how easy it was for people to use my good nature for purposes profitable only to them. I found out that how I think is not how other people think, and I found out that the people I was devoted to, were not devoted to my best interests.

What You Perceive To Be True.

I had been living in a world that I only could describe as Chapel Perilous: a psychological state where reality is not definite, but mutable and subjective to the observer. I could not determine whether the events happening were from an outside force, or a product of my own imagination. I looked for an answer every single day, and neither I, nor anyone following my life could ascertain what was going on. That was it, I only had one choice. I had to go to school and learn IT security. I was going to fight this battle to the very end. I was not going to be scared of the threats I received or the people who said them to me. The only way I could see myself getting out of this nonsense, was to hit the books, and take everyone out of my life, at least for awhile.

Truth From Science

That one talk changed my thinking, which according to the Chapel Perilous myth, it all begins and ends with thought. I had been contemplating Occam’s Razor theory for weeks now, that the simplest answer is probably the truth. I now was contemplating the psychology of perception, and found there was only one common denominator to the events that were transpiring around me, and that was always the presence of the Necromancer.

After contemplating what I thought was reality ….I decided that I was wrong about everything. Yes, I did see some things happening, but the Necromancer had access to every one of my computers. He had far superior computer skills that I only discovered at the end of the journey. He had been the only one delivering me the threats, and he was the only one who had direct access to my personal accounts. I was simply a woman who was the victim of a fraud. I was an easy target. I was on the road, traveling alone, estranged from my husband, generous in nature, and very naïve of the ways of predators. I was an excellent project manager, but had no IT skills and everything that I saw on the computer could be generated by software.

In this hacker culture, a computer hacker is a person who enjoys designing software and building programs with a sense for aesthetics and playful cleverness. The term hack in this sense can be traced back to “describe the elaborate college pranks that…students would regularly devise” (Levy, 1984 p.10). To be considered a ‘hack’ was an honor among like-minded peers as “to qualify as a hack, the feat must be imbued with innovation, style and technical virtuosity” (levy, 1984 p.10).

General Saint came over to check-up on me a few days later after our talk. He saw the books on the shelf, the boxes packed to be shipped back to my former employers, and I took out my notes….which were pages of documentation on phone calls, computer logs, and he said…. “You don’t have to prove anything to me Heather”. I responded, “As crazy as the story sounds, why did you believe me?” And he then told me about a story I had read long ago, and all but forgotten.

“That’s just the funny thing about it, sir,” said Peter. “up till now, I’d have said Lucy every time.”

(Susan concurs when the Professor asks her the same question)

“Logic!” said the Professor half to himself. “Why don’t they teach logic at these schools? There are only three possibilities. Either you sister is telling lies, or she is mad, or she is telling the truth…”

General Saint, proceeds with his assessment, “I had to think about the person I have known from prior experience, and I knew you to always be honest with me. Therefore, I had no reason to question you……I do have one question though, why didn’t you ever just get yourself another computer?”
I stood up from my desk, walked over to the closet, picked up a bag and opened it for him to look inside……..which was only recognizable by the monitor, because the rest of the components had been dismantled one by one, and nothing was left but hundreds of little pieces.

This is the first book in the Edge Chronicles.

A long time ago, the Myst Elves fought against the evil forces of Elga. They created an ultimate weapon built from the quintessence of their powers which they called Aram.

It helped them win the war but it brought mass destruction to friend or foe, Aram eliminated them all.

When the war was over, the remaining elves somehow summoned a spell to silence Aram.

They decided to imprison Aram in a far off place for everyone’s safety.

The elves brought Aram somewhere North of God’s Sanctuary hoping they’d seen the last of the almighty Golem and returned to their normal lives.

This is the ninth book in the Women of the Underworld series.

Dread Central sat down with an archangel from Legion in the New Mexico desert where the biblical apocalypse feature is being shot. Paul Bettany plays the archangel Michael, who is fallen and wingless but sports an impressive array of tattoos. Bettany revealed their interesting back story.

“In actual fact [the language] was developed by a man called John Dee, and you’ll have to check this but he was a Necromancer and he was apparently in touch with angels and they gave him their language. This actually all says stuff, but you’ll have to forgive me because I have about 60 tattoos or more, I think. So I don’t know what each of them say, but they say stuff. This one I know says “If you’re freeze-framing this film, you’re really weird.”

Bettany goes on to explain that when Michael decides to break with the other angels and sides with humanity against God, he loses his wings, his powers, and his … dog collar?

“I forgo all of my supernatural powers when get rid of my wings. I think they’re referred to as the Dogs of Heaven and he also has, I guess, a collar around his neck that comes off as well”.

At least he does manage to retain some kick-ass fighting prowess, which comes in pretty handy when God unleashes all the legions of heaven against him and the humans he is desperately trying to protect.

The high point of working on two novels that are polar opposites of each other:  When I want to kill off a fluff character in my Book of Light, I can go write a twisted death for another hated (or not so hated) character in my Book of Dark.

Today was not one of those days.  While plotting Necromancer (the dark one), I realized just how disturbing the story is turning out to be.  Granted, it’s turning out to be a very cool, darkly-colored paranormal romance–but sometimes I wonder how I will actually write anything this twisted.  I tend to shy away from the dark themes I want to write about.

Writing is scary.  Especially when I realize that all the twisted gore came from the depths of my own brain.

Skip to Urvi slowly backing away from the monster that is Necromancer.  Skip to Urvi thinking happy thoughts on long-lost love and environmental conservation for plotting The Winterlight.

I am going to start writing at least one of these novels tonight even if it kills me.  Just watch me.  (I am sick of plotting.  Time to dive in, ready or not?)
