} Hoje, terça-feira, vai rolar o set da Banda Holger e os jornalistas Sérgio Teixeira e Mariana Di Pilla @ Sonique!

A banda paulistana Holger formada há quase dois anos, nasceu a partir de um projeto musical chamado That’s All Folks, onde amigos de diversas bandas como Efeito Colateral, Cagedream & Projeto (além de integrantes itinerantes) gravavam músicas espontâneas, sem ensaio, com influências Folk, Country, Indiepop e Neofolk. Com mais de 30 músicas gravadas, 5 EPs lançados na internet, veio a idéia de transformar aquele projeto numa banda de verdade, com integrantes fixos, foi quando surgiu o Holger. Com uma mistura de tweepop como I’m from Barcelona, do rock alternativo do Pavement e o indie rock como Broken Social Scene, o Holger deu nova roupagem a algumas das melhores faixas gravadas com o That’s All Folks, além de compor músicas inéditas.

Sérgio Teixeira e Mariana Di Pilla são jornalistas das revistas Exame e Quem Acontece, respectivamente. Fora o trabalho nas redações, a dupla conhece a noite de São Paulo como poucos, especialmente seus caminhos mais dançantes.

In Autumnal Fog ist eine weitere Sampler Reihe vom Skeksis Netlabel Projekt, von denen auch die “10 Songs For Free Download” Reihe stammt. Die aktuelle Ausgabe umfasst 3 CD’s voller Neo-/Dark-Folk, Black- und Pagan-Metal.

Nach langer Zeit habe ich mal wieder Annabelle’s Garden gehört. „Wo sind nur Eure Götter hin?“ ist eine von den CDs, die ich verkauft oder verschenkt habe, von der ich mich aber doch nicht ganz trennen konnte und deshalb das Ganze als mp3 gespeichert habe. Erschienen ist das Werk in dr Hochzeit des Neofolk, als Death In June, Current 93 und Sol Invictus richtig groß angesagt waren. Das rief eine ganze Menge Epigonen auf den Plan, darunter richtig schlechte. Annabelle’s Garden gehören sicher nicht dazu. Erstaunlich ist jedoch die Spannweite von eher verunglückten Stücken, bis hin zu absolut großartigen Hymnen wie „In eine Morgen“ und „Vorwärts“. Allein diese beiden Stücke rechtfertigen, dass die Band nicht vergessen wird.

I’ve wanted to go to Europe for a very long time. I find myself becoming extremely jealous when I hear other people’s tales of backpacking and European adventures. Oz and I often discuss going to Scotland so he can visit his home country — his mother’s maiden name is Dewar, as in Dewar’s scotch whiskey.

It was a strange morning, yet kind of normal for us. We listened to Darkwave, VNV Nation, and Johnny Vicious house mixes while I made breakfast. Then, Oz brought up Wave Gotik Treffen, the world’s largest festival for “dark culture,” which takes place in Leipzig, Germany every May 21-24.

Upon first glance, it looks like a Hot Topic festival.

But this is the real deal, folks.

At Wave Gotik Treffen, there are a variety of people. From Victorian Goths to gutter punks, to steampunks, there’s a little something for everyone. But it’s not just about the clothes and make-up, it’s about the music. WGT offers more than 150 bands and artists from various backgrounds  such as Gothic rock, EBM, Industrial, Noise, Darkwave, Neofolk, Neoclassical, Medieval Music, Experimental, Gothic metal, Deathrock and Punk.

Oz and I are both kind of scared of the festival, but we’re also very intrigued. I’d love to go experience something completely different like that, if only for the fact that I could blog about it after. Plus, Oz looks great in eyeliner.

IL DISCO
Rilasciato, bisogna dire con scarso tempismo, nel pieno dell’estate 2005, Mistelteinn è tuttora uno dei dischi più tristi che possiate mai immaginare. Ne sono autori due emeriti sconosciuti di Bonn, Stefan Otto (pelato con barba) e Thomas List (moderatamente capelluto), il primo alla voce (stentorea), entrambi alla chitarra (acustica), come prassi nitidissima e cristallina; si fanno chiamare Nebelung, che – si peritano di farci notare – significa “Novembre” in tedesco antico, tra le principali fonti di ispirazione vantano “le foreste, le foglie che cadono, la pioggia e l’inverno, il bosco, la notte“. Non ingannino tali dichiarazioni, di naïveté assoluta, né tantomeno i testi (rigorosamente in madrelingua) che vanno avanti a furia di citazioni da Nietzsche, Baudelaire e Von Hofmannsthal, o la copertina anonimizzante, con un bel tronco d’albero in primo piano e uno sfondo color verde vomito che perfino un ragazzino che smanetta a caso con una copia crakkata di Photoshop si vergognerebbe; il disco è veramente lacerante. Aiutati da una serie di ospiti ora al violoncello, ora al violino, ora al flauto, ora all’accordion (che è un modo meno plebeo per dire “fisarmonica”), i due dipanano una brevissima serie di pezzi (cinque escludendo l’intro che peraltro non è nemmeno indicato nella tracklist) assolutamente commoventi per ispirazione e rigore, dalla semplicità disarmante (pochi e ripetuti come tanti piccoli mantra gli arpeggi in ogni brano), pari almeno all’intensità delle sensazioni sprigionate. In pochi sono riusciti a dire così tanto con così poco; tra quei pochi ci sono sicuramente i Forseti del povero Andreas Ritter, a cui i Nebelung senza alcun dubbio devono ben più di un po’. Ma la sofferenza, il dolore, il senso di autentica e insanabile disperazione di cui queste poche indifese tristissime canzoni sono portatrici e generatrici è innegabilmente autentico, è reale, e fa male. Pericolosissimo accostarsi a Mistelteinn se si è anche solo lontanamente presi male; dura meno di mezz’ora, ma è di quelle mezze ore che non si dimenticano.

PERCHÈ NON STA NELLE CLASSIFICHE DI FINE ANNO
Innanzitutto è uscito in tiratura ultralimitata (la prima stampa, 500 pezzi, è andata presto esaurita; ne è seguita una seconda di 300. Copie del disco sono ora facilmente reperibili via mailorder, ma a prezzi non esattamente popolari). Poi: il genere di cui i Nebelung fanno parte, il neofolk schiettamente e fieramente europeo, è materia di cui alla critica che conta non potrebbe fregare di meno. Totalmente ignorato (quando va bene), irriso o comunque guardato spesso dall’alto in basso con un bagaglio di pregiudizi grosso quanto l’Everest, da sempre è appannaggio esclusivo di pseudonazi con gravissimi problemi comportamentali o monomaniaci totali che conoscono a menadito ogni singola uscita e ignorano beatamente tutto il resto. Salvo rarissime eccezioni il neofolk non è ancora stato “storicizzato” a dovere, e probabilmente non lo sarà mai.

PERCHÈ STA QUA DENTRO
Perché vale la pena ascoltarlo. I primi due pezzi, Heimsuchung e Abel und Kain, sono tra le cose più belle e struggenti incise negli ultimi dieci anni. E poi, tolto il respingente cantato baritonale in tedesco, le similitudini con suoni e personaggi più potabili sono più di quante siate disposti a credere. Voglio dire, le stesse cose le fa Steve Von Till con Amber Asylum ospite e tutti (giustamente) a sborrare nei pantaloni; le fanno due crucchi dissociati e restano patrimonio per soli nazistelli particolarmente introspettivi. Questo non è giusto.

The Lisbon Treaty, with its incorporation of most European countries into a vast superstate, is another chapter in the push by globalist elites to homogenise the entire world.

The ‘Asian Union’ which Kevin Rudd has been trumpeting represents another step on the same path. Although it’s still a long way off (Asian countries, being more varied in political and economic structure, are harder to integrate than European ones) it is still definitely on the cards. So too is an African Union, a North American Union etc. Eventually, all these continental ‘unions’ will be ‘harmonised’ into a truly global state. At least if the corporate elites are allowed to have their way…

National-Anarchists, like all sane people, view these developments with horror and contempt. Aside from the destruction of the world’s cultures and folkways that globalism represents, it is also a surefire recipe for tyranny. A world state could only be controlled by means of outright despotism.

If we want to avoid a future like that, then we must fight now.

The good news is that the system’s own overreach is already starting to work against it. In Europe, for instance, there is a clear development towards regionalism. People are rediscovering their ancestral cultures like never before, including regional cultures that existed long before the rise of the centralised nation state.

In Belgium itself (where the EU capital Brussels is located), there are signs that the artificially-created country could soon break down into its component regions of Flanders and Wallonia.

The regionalist movement is still small, largely manifested in pagan spiritual circles, in neo-folk and black metal music, and in certain growing political movements (such as National-Anarchism). But the regionalist tendency will doubtless continue to thrive as the EU sinks its bureaucratic tentacles further into people’s private lives and cultural spheres.
