<p>Most of our customers encounter us at Print-related Tradeshows or come to our textile screen print seminars, but few know that we also have an Industrial Plastic Compounding division.   “Huh?&#8221; &#8220; You do what?” are usually some of the responses we get from our screen print customers when we mention our Industrial capacity and capabilities.  So here is International Coatings’ President, Steve Kahane, to explain more of what our Industrial division does:</p>

<p>“When you think of International Coatings products, you are most likely thinking about our screen print inks.  What many people don’t realize is that a significant part of our business is tied to custom industrial compounding.  We’ve been developing specialty plastics and adhesive compounds for over 50 years now. </p>
<p>We don’t make the end products.  So we don’t mold plastic or produce plastic parts.  We provide the material to the molders, coaters or other manufacturers for them to create their end products.  They provide us the specifications and we develop the materials they need to make their unique products.</p>
<p>Our industrial plastic compounds have been used over the years for a wide variety of applications.  In the 1960’s and 70’s we provided Mattel with paint-type coatings for the Barbie dolls.  You’ve seen our material in movies – we compounded the plastic for the Star Wars helmets.  We provided the Disney Corporation for many years with specialty plastics for their Imagineering Department.  That’s the group that produces many of the specialty characters and life-like robots at the Disney parks.  For many years, we provided the adhesive for Van’s shoes. And for you Legoland buffs, we provided plastic coatings for the fake trees. </p>
<p>Today, we continue to formulate a wide range of specialty plastics and serve a cross-section of industry.  We produce material for the military and aerospace industries, medical appliances, filters (pool, spa, drinking water, automotive), sports and exercise equipment, replica food, auto parts, marine equipment and toys.</p>
<p>So the next time you’re at McDonald’s and you see what looks like real Cinnamon Rolls on display, think of us!  We formulated the plastic used to make the roll and the glaze.”</p>

At first I wanted the same style but in a different blue color, but it was sold out on the Incase website and Apple didn&#8217;t have it on theirs. But overall the color doesn&#8217;t matter to me. As long as it protects my Macbook, I am fine with it.</p>
<p>Before, I never had a good sleeve to keep my macbook protected in. It was really a cheap little case with an apple sticker on it that I bought from eBay. Don&#8217;t get me wrong, it did the job, but it could have been better. After suffering with that sleeve for a while I decided to get a new bag. So I ordered a orange laptop bag with the apple logo right on it, no sticker this time, it was the real thing. And it has been great, but it&#8217;s more of a bag than a sleeve and if I need to take my Macbook to school or to the public library to get some homework done, I don&#8217;t want to carry my books in my school bag, plus a laptop bag.</p>
<p>So with school starting on Tuesday, I thought it would be good to order a really good sleeve. By the sound of things, everyone seems to love their incase sleeves, so I thought I would give them a try. It was shipped today from Apple and hopefully it will be here by the end of the week and I can post a review on it once I use it for a little while.</p>

I watched it a few times and was unable to really tell if it was real or fake. Deep inside I wanted it to be real. I wanted to believe that, as humans, we had the ability to pull off a stunt like this. If physics could get us to fly into a kiddie pool, then why not take this technology and go to Mars? Unfortunately I just found out that this video was manufactured by Microsoft and was somehow supposed to promote Microsoft Office Suite. First before you see my (to quote Bridget Jone) Wobbly Bits let me tell you a bit about what I wear during my Wii Fit workouts.</p>
<p>Pro and I bought <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoprene">Neoprene </a>shorts and waist bands a few months back. She said her mom uses them and they make you sweat a bunch and slim down. Now before anyone starts yelling at me about why they are hocus pocus let me tell you that I have read up on them and fully understand that they are not really going to help me lose weight, or if I do that its just water weight. But I have to say that I do really love them! They hold me in and make me feel all tight and they absorb the sweat so Im not dripping while hula hooping (ha!) and they totally put me in workout mode! So they may not be a miracle worker, but they were cheap (mine are Golds Gym brand from Wal Mart) and they make me feel good about working out, so hey you may want to try them!</p>

I don&#8217;t know if I&#8217;ve mentioned this before, but I&#8217;m pretty self conscious about my interest in merpeople, so I&#8217;ve never actually been able to test out my tail in a pool. Well, the apartment complex I&#8217;m in for the summer has a pool, and I finally worked up the nerve to swim on Monday! It was awesome.  I even got some footage of it, but I&#8217;m a little shy about posting it; I always look at these things like I&#8217;m going to be running for president one day and suddenly footage of me pretending to be a merman is gonna be all over the news.  Plus the video sucks anyway.  I was using the video mode of a really crappy old digital camera in a ziploc bag underwater while trying to swim around with my legs held together at the same time.</p>
<p>The other piece of news is that I&#8217;m actually going forward with my plan to reverse engineer the lunocet monofin, though I don&#8217;t know if I can make it an independent study course.  I&#8217;m really excited though.  I&#8217;d like to get started as soon as I get back to school, since that&#8217;s when I&#8217;ll have access to tools again.  While I know I can&#8217;t make a tail that&#8217;s nicer than the ones that are available commercially, if I pull this off I just might have  the most powerful and most functional tail of anyone on the internet.  I&#8217;d like to make a new tail to go with the monofin, and if I do I&#8217;m planning on using gray neoprene and design it to look like a dolphin.  This is all probably way outside my ability, but I&#8217;m going to at least try.  If anyone out there has so experience making their own tail or working with neoprene I&#8217;d really appreciate some advice.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">L&#8217;argomento riscuote sempre più interesse nel nostro paese ed aumentano sempre più le applicazioni basate su questi sistemi, vi è poi sempre maggiore interesse da parte della comunità scientifica e le riviste di sismica si soffermano sempre più su questi temi (&#8220;<a href="http://strutturisti.wordpress.com/2009/05/22/consigli-per-gli-acquisti-la-nuova-rivista-progettazione-sismica-della-iuss-press/" target="_blank">Consigli per gli acquisti: la nuova rivista “Progettazione Sismica” della IUSS Press</a>&#8220;).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Nell&#8217;articolo che segue ci soffermiamo sul controllo passivo della risposta, in particolare sui vari dispositivi di isolamento sismico, suddivisi in due macro-categorie: elastomerici ed a scorrimento.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#ffffff;">-</span></p>
<h2 style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong><em>Tipologie di dispositivi e sistemi di isolamento</em></strong></span></h2>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Prima di passare in rassegna le varie tipologie di isolatori sismici oggi disponibili, vediamo quali sono le caratteristiche fondamentali che ogni sistema deve possedere:</p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li><strong>funzione di appoggio</strong>, ovvero capacità di sostenere i carichi verticali (sia in condizione non sismica che in condizione sismica);</li>
<li><strong>deformabilità elevata </strong>(o bassa resistenza) in direzione orizzontale sotto azione sismica;</li>
<li><strong>capacità dissipativa</strong>;</li>
<li>adeguata <strong>resistenza </strong>nei confronti dei <strong>carichi orizzontali</strong> non sismici (vento, traffico, …);</li>
<li><strong>capacità di ricentraggio</strong> in seguito all’azione di un’azione orizzontale, in modo da avere spostamenti nulli al termine del ciclo.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Non meno importanti sono:<!--more--></p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li><strong>costi contenuti</strong>;</li>
<li><strong>limitato ingombro</strong>;</li>
<li><strong>facilità di installazione</strong>, sia per edifici realizzati ex-novo che per interventi di adeguamento sismico;</li>
<li><strong>durabilità</strong>, per evitare che il degrado della gomma o del dispositivo in generale possa alterare la risposta della struttura.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align:justify;">La scelta del sistema di isolamento deve essere ponderata anche in funzione dell’obbiettivo prestazionale ricercato; possiamo individuare tre tipi:</p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li><strong>minimizzare il taglio alla base della struttura</strong>, realizzando un maggiore disaccoppiamento del moto, in modo da scaricare maggiormente la parte al di sopra dell’isolatore;</li>
<li><strong>minimizzare lo spostamento alla base della struttura</strong>, in quanto l’edificio da isolare può essere inserito in un contesto che potrebbe far temere martellamenti tra strutture;</li>
<li><strong>minimizzare le accelerazioni di piano ad alte frequenze</strong>; che è un requisito importante per la protezione del contenuto.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Come vedremo, alcuni sistemi riescono a soddisfare bene alcuni dei requisiti suddetti, mentre risultano deficitari in altri.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">In generale possiamo individuare due gruppi di isolatori:</p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li><strong>elastomerici</strong>;</li>
<li><strong>a scorrimento</strong>.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#ffffff;">-</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#ffffff;">-</span></p>
<h3 style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong><em>Isolatori elastomerici</em></strong></span></h3>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Gli isolatori elastomerici basano il loro comportamento sulla deformazione della gomma impiegata. Sono caratterizzati dall’alternanza di strati di elastomero e lamierini di acciaio solidarizzati mediante processi di vulcanizzazione a caldo.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">La presenza dei lamierini è fondamentale, in quanto consente di confinare l’elastomero limitandone la deformabilità verticale a pochi millimetri (1-3 mm). Gli spessori sono molto piccoli, in genere:</p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>strati di elastomeri: 5-20 mm;</li>
<li>lamierini: 2-3 mm.</li>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Generalmente i lamierini sono più corti rispetto agli strati di gomma, in modo da risultare completamente inglobati in questi ultimi ed essere protetti dalla corrosione.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">In realtà i primi isolatori erano di tipo non armato, privi quindi dei lamierini; questo dava luogo ad elevate deformabilità verticali che causavano lo spiacevole effetto <strong><em>rocking</em></strong>, cioè un moto rotatorio con asse orizzontale.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Molto importanti sono anche le caratteristiche della gomma impiegata; in base ad essa possiamo individuare due tipi di isolatori:</p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>isolatori elastomerici in <strong>gomma naturale</strong>;</li>
<li>isolatori elastomerici in <strong>gomma sintetica</strong>.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Dal punto di vista della chimica la gomma è un idrocarburo descritto dalla formula <strong>(C<sub>5</sub>H<sub>8</sub>)<sub>n</sub></strong>. Il C4H8 è chiamato <strong>isoprene</strong> e la gomma naturale è costituita da sequenze regolari di isoprene disposte in maniera tale da configurare una catena con caratteristiche di elevata elasticità.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Nella gomma naturale ci sono pochi collegamenti tra le catene e quando vi è l’azione di una forza esterna tali catene si allungano fino a rompere i collegamenti. Macroscopicamente si ha che il materiale subisce deformazioni tali da poter sopportare grandi spostamenti, almeno fino alla rottura dei link suddetti. Con specifici trattamenti si possono creare ulteriori collegamenti.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Gli isolatori elastomerici in gomma sintetica si basano invece sull’impiego di <strong>neoprene</strong> – anziché isoprene. Il neoprene è la denominazione commerciale scelta dall’azienda produttrice <strong><em>DuPont Performance Elastomers</em></strong>; inizialmente, infatti, il nome scelto era DuPrene (1932).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Rispetto alla gomma naturale il neoprene gode di svariati pregi, come le maggiori capacità ignifughe, impermeabilità ai gas, è inoltre meno incline all’invecchiamento, ecc.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Indipendentemente dalla gomma impiegata, naturale o sintetica, possiamo avere isolatori elastomerici con gomma a basso o elevato smorzamento. La gomma, infatti, sia essa naturale o sintetica, possiede capacità smorzanti non elevate che vanno quindi opportunamente incrementate. Possiamo allora avere:</p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>isolatori elastomerici a basso smorzamento (<strong><em>Low Damping Rubber Bearings</em></strong> – <strong>LDRB</strong>);</li>
<li>isolatori elastomerici con inserto in piombo (<strong><em>Lead Rubber Bearings</em></strong> – <strong>LRB</strong>);</li>
<li>isolatori elastomerici ad elevato smorzamento (<strong><em>High Damping Rubber Bearings</em></strong> – <strong>HDRB</strong>).</li>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Gli <span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong>isolatori elastomerici a basso smorzamento</strong></span>, come detto, possono essere ottenuti sia con gomma naturale che con neoprene. Entrambi i tipi di gomma hanno proprietà molto stabili e non esibiscono il fenomeno di <em>creep</em> per carichi di lunga durata.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Il comportamento esibito è sostanzialmente elastico al crescere della deformazione e presentano uno smorzamento dell’ordine del 2-4%, motivo per il quale si parla di isolatori a basso smorzamento.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Questo tipo di isolatori presenta molti vantaggi, come ad esempio:</p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>produzione semplice;</li>
<li>bassi costi di produzione;</li>
<li>proprietà meccaniche indipendenti dalla temperatura e dall’invecchiamento.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align:justify;">L’unico svantaggio è rappresentato dal basso valore dello smorzamento ed i non piccoli spostamenti per carichi azioni orizzontali di esercizio (come il vento), motivo per il quale è opportuno aggiungere sistemi ausiliari.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Gli <span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong>isolatori elastomerici con inserto in piombo</strong></span> furono inventati in Nuova Zelanda nel 1975 e sono stati usati diffusamente in Nuova Zelanda, Giappone e Stati Uniti.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">I dispositivi LRB sono simili ai LDRB, ma contengono uno o più inserti di piombo in un foro posto al centro dell’isolatore. La funzione dell’inserto è di dissipare energia mediante snervamento.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Il legame costitutivo forza-spostamento è di tipo bilineare ed il comportamento è funzione della combinazione di gomma e nucleo, quindi combinazione, rispettivamente, di comportamento elastico lineare tipico degli appoggi elastomerici e comportamento elasto-plastico dovuto al nucleo in piombo.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Il regime deformativo cui è sottoposto l’inserto è di tipo tagliante grazie al confinamento dovuto alle piastre d’acciaio. Lo smorzamento viscoso equivalente associato ai cicli di isteresi del dispositivo è compreso tra il 15% ed il 35%. Dal confronto fra i cicli di isteresi fatti registrare per isolatori LRB e LDRB si nota come l’energia dissipata sia maggiore per il primo, il quale mostra anche maggiore rigidezza.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">La rigidezza e l’energia dissipata diminuiscono progressivamente al diminuire del numero di clici, fino a stabilizzarsi dopo 10-15 cicli. In genere, però, le proprietà vengono ripristinate velocemente già dopo qualche giorno. Il motivo risiede nel surriscaldamento del nucleo per cicli ripetuti a distanza di tempo ravvicinata.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Gli <span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong>isolatori elastomerici ad elevato smorzamento</strong></span> consentono di avere smorzamento sufficiente ad eliminare la necessità di dispositivi ausiliari; gli HDRB, quindi, costituiscono un sistema completo.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">L’elevato smorzamento si ottiene aggiungendo speciali cariche additive alla gomma, come il <strong>nerofumo</strong> (carbon black) ed il <strong>silicio</strong>, grazie alle ricerche fatte dalla <strong><em>Malaysian Rubber Producers’ Research Association</em></strong> (<strong>MRPRA</strong>).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">L’impiego di cariche additive consente di raggiungere uno smorzamento variabile tra il 10% ed il 20% in corrispondenza di una deformazione del 100%.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Osservando un diagramma forza-spostamento notiamo una maggiore rigidezza iniziale, che consente di fronteggiare i carichi di esercizio (come il vento), una rigidezza minore e costante per un certo tratto ed un conseguente incremento della stessa per carichi elevati (in modo da evitare deformazioni eccessive).</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Generalmente, quindi, viene esibito un comportamento non lineare con elevata rigidezza iniziale e smorzamento per deformazioni taglianti inferiori al 20%. Nel range 20-120% di deformazione a taglio il modulo si mantiene basso e costante. Per deformazioni elevate il modulo cresce grazie al processo di cristallizzazione della gomma, che si accompagna a dissipazione di energia.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Il comportamento esibito non è né linearmente viscoso né elasto-plastico. Nel primo caso, infatti, la dissipazione di energia è quadratica nello spostamento, mentre nel secondo caso è lineare nello spostamento. I diagrammi forza-spostamento, invece, mostrano che la dissipazione è proporzionale allo spostamento elevato a 1.5.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Inoltre, come dimostrato da una serie di test eseguiti da J. M. Kelly et al. nel 1985, l’elevato smorzamento consente di ridurre le vibrazioni ambientali; gli isolatori, infatti, fungono da filtro per le vibrazioni ad elevate frequenze dovute al traffico.</p>

<h3 style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#ff0000;"><strong><em>Isolatori a scorrimento</em></strong></span></h3>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Un sistema di isolamento basato sul puro scorrimento è la più semplice ed antica soluzione impiegabile. Le prime applicazioni risalgono alle civiltà greche, cinesi e peruviane, ma il primo vero dettagliato progetto di isolamento sismico viene attestato al dottore inglese <strong>Johannes Avetican Calantarients</strong>, nel 1908. Il suo sistema aveva infatti ogni elemento oggi ritenuto indispensabile per applicare isolare gli edifici.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Anzitutto gli isolatori a scorrimento possono essere di due tipi:</p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>unidirezionali, generalmente impiegati per i ponti;</li>
<li>multi direzionali, generalmente impiegati per gli edifici.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Nella loro forma più semplice gli <em>sliding devices</em> (SD) sono costituiti da due dischi di diverso diametro che scorrono l’uno sull’altro. I materiali impiegati sono scelti in modo da poter sviluppare una bassa resistenza d’attrito.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">I materiali più impiegati sono l’acciaio lucidato inossidabile ed il PTFE (Teflon).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Il coefficiente di attrito dinamico risulta essere compreso tra il 6% ed il 12%, ma si riduce all’1-2% in caso di lubrificazione. Tale coefficiente è però funzione di alcuni aspetti, come:</p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>pressione di contatto (variazione lineare del coefficiente con la pressione);</li>
<li>velocità di scorrimento;</li>
<li>temperatura;</li>
<li>usura.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align:justify;">A causa della variabilità del coefficiente e delle incertezze sulle condizioni ambientali (temperatura, umidità, pulizia) si decide generalmente di trascurare la dissipazione di energia per attrito. Questa considerazione è importante in quanto si fa allora ricorso a dispositivi lubrificati, quindi si azzera quasi il coefficiente di attrito dinamico rinunciando all’azione resistente esplicata. In pratica, vengono lasciati liberi gli spostamenti.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Per i motivi appena esposti, i dispositivi a scorrimento non vengono mai impiegati da soli, a meno che non presentino elementi in grado di:</p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>aumentare la rigidezza iniziale e fornire capacità dissipative;</li>
<li>fornire capacità di ricentraggio.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Gli unici isolatori a scorrimento che incorporano la funzione ricentrante e dissipativa, senza l’aggiunta di altri elementi, sono quelli con superfici di scorrimento curve.  Un noto sistema di questo tipo è quello che si basa sul <strong>pendolo ad attrito</strong> (<strong><em>Friction Pendulum System</em></strong> – <strong>FPS</strong>); alla forza laterale si oppone la forza di attrito dovuta ad una superficie che scorre sull’altra.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">La funzione ricentrante è data ovviamente dalla superficie curva, la quale consente di far tornare in posizione il dispositivo quando cessa l’azione esterna. Il carico verticale, infatti, da luogo ad una componente nella direzione tangenziale alla superficie sferica consentendo al dispositivo di riaccentrarsi. La funzione dissipativa la si ha grazie ad una superficie non lubrificata, quindi ad un attrito non azzerato.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">La scelta della curvatura non è casuale, perché ad essa è legata la rigidezza del dispositivo e, quindi, il periodo di vibrazione della struttura isolata (il periodo è inversamente proporzionale alla rigidezza). A tal proposito è importante notare come si riesca ad avere una rigidezza iniziale maggiore grazie all’<strong>attrito statico</strong>: la forza laterale necessaria per mettere in moto il dispositivo è maggiore di quella necessaria per far continuare il moto.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Un vantaggio di questi dispositivi risiede nella bassa manutenzione. Il Teflon protegge in maniera efficace la superficie dalla corrosione. Inoltre, considerato che lo scorrimento lo si ha solo durante un terremoto, il Teflon può durare per tutta la vita utile di progetto. Invecchiamento e variazioni di temperatura influenzano pochissimo le proprietà meccaniche.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Come detto, il periodo è legato al raggio di curvatura mediante la relazione:</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Dalla relazione risulta evidente che lo smorzamento viscoso equivalente aumenta all’aumentare del periodo e del coefficiente di attrito, ma è anche importante che l’attrito non sia eccessivo, altrimenti il sistema si blocca prima di poter tornare al centro. E’ infatti necessario uno spostamento pari ad almeno mR. Alla luce di queste considerazioni, il massimo smorzamento che si può avere è intorno al 20%.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Un altro vantaggio di questo sistema risiede nella maggiore possibilità di poter scegliere lo smorzamento desiderato, grazie alla semplice variazione del coefficiente di attrito, oltre che all’ottimo controllo del periodo T.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Una recente variazione del pendolo ad attrito è costituita dal doppio pendolo ad attrito (<strong><em>Double Concave Friction Pendulum</em></strong> – <strong>DCFP</strong>). In questo caso si hanno due superfici di scorrimento anziché una, come si può vedere dall’immagine che segue:</p>

Nel caso in cui le superfici abbiano un coefficiente di attrito diverso il dispositivo comincia a scorrere sulla superficie che offre minore resistenza, per poi mettersi in moto anche sull’altra.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Un terzo tipo di isolatori a scorrimento è costituito da quelli in <strong>acciaio-PTFE</strong> lubrificati a superficie piana. In questo caso manca la capacità ricentrante, quindi è necessario aggiungere un dispositivo ausiliario.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Molto diffuse sono anche le soluzioni in gomma, con dispositivi elastomerici che possono fungere sia da dispositivi ausiliari che da isolatori veri e propri. Nel caso in cui i dispositivi in gomma vengano impiegati come isolatori si ottengono delle soluzioni ibride elastomeri-scorrimento. I vantaggi consistono in bassa rigidezza (periodo lungo), con notevoli abbattimenti degli effetti del sisma – anche quando la massa strutturale competente a ciascun isolatore è limitata – e buone capacità ricentranti, senza l’utilizzazione di dispositivi ausiliari.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Nel caso in si adotti una soluzione mista isolatori in acciaio-isolatori elastomerici bisogna fare attenzione agli spostamenti differenziali verticali in corrispondenza dei vari isolatori, sia per carichi verticali non sismici che sismici. Il rimedio consiste nell’adottare dispositivi elastomerici con elevata rigidezza ai carichi verticali. Qualora si vogliano evitare questi problemi è possibile non assegnare carichi verticali agli isolatori in gomma ed impiegarli sono come dispositivi ausiliari.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Alternativamente alle soluzioni in gomma, è possibile adottare dispositivi basati sullo snervamento dell’acciaio, deformazione a taglio del piombo, con pistoni, ecc.</p>
