没事到Netfirms的控制面板去看了看，发现访客不但寥寥可数，而且只有三个国家的来源：美国，加拿大，日本——竟然没有中国！奇怪了半天，琢磨是不是搜索引擎把这个网站的语言分类分错了呢？

好一会才突然想起来，Netfirms是被大陆屏蔽了的，所以没有一个来自大陆的IP也不足为奇。有些郁闷，你说，我该怎么办？挪个坑还是死守？我写的中文没有国人来看的话，还有什么乐趣呢？

I’ve given up for now on having private file-hosting.  I’m sure that will come with time, and I’m sure a customized mail url will come with time too, but for now it just isn’t possible and I’m tired of fiddling with settings to no avail.

At least I’m learning really well how to use Netfirms and WordPress; what can be accomplished and how and so forth.  Sometimes I wish I wasn’t so stubborn though.  I literally spent a whole day fiddling with stuff, just so I could have private photo hosting instead of using some free online photo hosting.

i haven’t been here in a while. it’s weird, i’m in school again (kinda, it’s almost done) enjoying the last few weeks at my parents’ place, gah. got a new ipod the other day. lost the old one, somehow. somewhere between school and here. i still have no idea how that happened.

Today during lunch break, I decided to try out Netfirms Inc.’s domain registration signup process after hearing a lot about their services and customer service.

Netfirms Inc is said to charge only $4.95 per year for domain name registration. I went to the signup page and began entering my details. After selecting the bare minimum, this is what I got. Looks like their domain name registration is $5.95 and not $4.95

And, hey wait a minute! Shipping 7.95?? Shipping for what? How do you “ship” a domain name…and by US First Class Mail? Interesting, but I’m not interested any more. I’ll go with 1and1.com or bluehost.com. They are cheaper and don’t carry any extra costs or surprises at runtime. Time to get back to work.

It has been a great day I ended the day as usual without touching my book and I have an exam tomorrow. Time to panic? Na, It happens, Always!!

My domain is set to expire in a few days and I have to renew it asap. Planning to switch hosts after 5 whole years. I’ve been with Netfirms for 5 years now(I will continue to for my blogs) but now I’m planning for a change. I’ve always loved Netfirms for the obvious reasons. Easy, efficient and Bang for money. Though there have been many complaints over server uptime, I have to admit that I’ve never had any problem of that sort for multiple sites over the period of time.

So, why the change? Well, my needs are varied now. Its gonna be demanding and I need a better solution. My dreams of coming up with my own Design studio is possible with this as well. Watch out for future announcements

I’ve been doing my share of research and am planning to make a switch to either Dreamhost or Bluehost. Though Mediatemple(mt) has been very attractive in terms of a highly advanced Grid-Server, it simply doesn’t fit my pocket and so I’m passing on that.

Now comes the problem of choosing one. I have to be careful with this as I can’t switch for another year. Both hosts offer a good annual package which is really worth the money. Its gonna be Dreamhost I guess. No webhost has ever been dedicated umpteen blog posts other than Dreamhost and that’s remarkable. Their user base is Massive and very happy. I’m hoping to join the happy club as well.

Btw,Nanowrimo started today and I’m yet to start my novel. I’d better go work on that now.
