A finales del mes de junio se anunció el lanzamiento de un album recopilatorio de los éxitos y covers de Hitomi Shimatani con motivo de su décimo aniversario, el albúm vendrá separado en dos discos: en un CD se colocarán 16 éxitos de toda la carrera de la cantante, y el segundo CD tendrá 10 temas de covers.Y las versiones con 2CD+DVD con 17 videoclips.

El contenido es realmente estupendo, 26 canciones incluida SMILES que es el último single de Hitomi Shimatani lanzado en marzo de este año, 17 videoclips que también incluye SMILES, y algo que siempre me ha decepcionado de grandes trabajos como este es la portada…porque será que cuando algun artista lanza trabajos excelentes, las portadas los arruinan??

This is Hitomi Shimatanis’ 25^th single and was released on June 6, 2007. It reached #22 on the Oricon Charts and has sold 8,175 copies. Neva Eva is Shimatani Hitomi’s 25th single. Neva Eva was used as opening song for the Nippon TV Wrestling 2007. The all girl brass band Pistol Valve served as background performers for the PV of the song.

Before I ever listened to Neva Eva I never actually heard about this music genre called “ska”, which is why this single interested me a lot. In the end, I FELL IN LOVE with this song. In fact, it has made it to my top 25 played songs with 105 plays! The best part about this song is the constant brass that is played throughout the song. It was a very nice change of pace for me since I don’t normally hear brass in my J-Pop songs. But moving on, this song just has a very “chaotic Mexican” feel to it that makes it very humorous, and I think Hitomi actually achieved that chaotic feel that she wanted in Dragonfly. In addition, her vocals are as strong as ever, and I loved the slickness of it during certain parts of the song. Also, watch the music video for this song. Just do it.

Everyone! We must celebrate! Hakuchuumu is the very first B-side from Hitomi I actually like!!!! It still features a lot of brass, but it has more a tropical feel this time. Makes you think of somewhere in Mexico, or Spain. I especially enjoyed how things got really jazzy during the bridge when that piano came in. I couldn’t help but think how this song would have made an awesome Latin ballroom dance song if it was just a bit more upbeat, and if it followed the count of it.
