George Seldes is the perfect one to be bringing us this moving and well thought out approach to undermine the country that has been set forth today. In fact his credentials are amazing. He was a war correspondent in world war 1 and claimed that an actual documented battle never happened, it’s ok we never landed on the moon either. In fact most of his work was black listed, he was cast out as an communist and most of his interviews were never released to the public.

It is not to say that this man did not achieve great things, but this organization using free thinkers and people of old to influence is not only backwards but confusing. The founding fathers were free thinkers. So I’m guessing that your saying they’re wrong and these men and women are right? They should have founded our country. On what values do you suppose? The man writing and whining about the terrible days he spent in Sunday school, many have written that even schooling unrelated to biblical teaching was a prison. Do you expect me to believe that this man had it right all along?

In fact now i fully agree. Let’s be free thinkers, NO MORE SCHOOL!

The past fortnight has found me in a suitably strange little place. Uncharacteristically, I have on the one hand felt very laid-back, comfortable in the knowledge that I’m well on schedule with all my projects (even taking into account the unexpected stay in hospital and its aftermath) and quite content to “potter” with bits and pieces of editorial work. On the other hand, however, I’ve started to feel that old, familiar twitchiness — the restless need to get back to my writing.

Briefly, a few days ago, I managed to convince myself that, you know, Christmas is almost upon us and, frankly, well, returning to As Morning Shows the Day (my half-finished work in progress) this side of New Year would be pretty silly, wouldn’t it?

And maybe it would… I don’t know… but, the way things are going, I’ll probably be writing again during December. Just can’t help myself, guvna.

Getting my final draft of Children of the Resolution off to Legend last week kind of underscored my need to return to my work. Still not completely back to full health but needing something to do, I’d worked through the manuscript steadily and methodically, falling back into that other world I had in part created. The autobiographical aspect of Children resonated even more, given my recent illness (you’ll see what I mean when you read it), and even as I found it cautionary I yearned to get back to shaping my characters and fictional vistas. And so, once this project was delivered, I returned to As Morning Shows the Day — merely reading through it at this stage, listening to the voice, refamiliarising myself with it.

Yes, I still occasionally manage to convince myself that this is merely my way of preparing for starting back on it in January… but I’m fooling no one, least of all myself.

In other news, the electronic version (for Kindle, Sony Reader etc) of If I Never is now available here. Pretty excited about this. I’m not a huge fan of electronic books but I know a growing number of people are — and having seen the finished product, I’m beginning to understand why! Looks great… but don’t take my word for it, check it out for yourself! (Free readers are also available for PCs.)

I made my first email account close to 5-6 years ago, though everything I wrote was complete idiocy, I had a lot of sentimental feelings towards them after reading them through the course of time.

..Emails with completely horrible spelling.
..Emails to close friends at the time of nerdism.
..Emails that contained the secret of epic flirting.
..Emails to friends who are no more in contact.
..Emails to boring family members.
..Emails where friends taught you the meanings of “lol”, “idk”,”brb” and such.
..Emails and replies to girls that I used to boast oh so much to my peeps.
..Emails of childhood gossips (Like Harry Potters new boyfriend).
..Loads of bloody emails about Lego’s and Barbie’s.

Emails of total innocence.

The mistake I made however, was creating my first email through Hotmail. I did have Yahoo account, but only for the chatting feature.
Then I got a Gmail account after about 2 years and only checked my Hotmail now and then to see crap emails from Microsoft. I think the rule then was that if you didn’t log into the account in a years time all your messages will be deleted. But not too long ago, it changed from 1 year… to 1 month

I logged into my Hotmail account after 2 months time yesterday, and found all my old emails GONE. They could have just deleted my whole account instead, but logging in to see no messages in your inbox is irritating like hell. So if any of you peeps go make a Hotmail account, think twice. I should add that since being a Microsoft product, you would foresee how stupid and cheap it is and not make a mistake like this one.

There are only three reasons why you would get a Hotmail account.
(a) E-mail address inertia
(b) You are a Microsoft employee or
(c) You like pain.

So quit being a dumbass (apologies to all my friends who use Hotmail), and go get yourself a trusty service like Gmail (or Yahoo).

Dear kids,

You know how we’re supposed to be very careful when using words like “always” and “never”? Well, sometimes those words are absolutely accurate and perfect. Take, for instance, the Bible’s command to us to always be thankful for everything. It’s found in Eph. 5:20:

“… giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ…”

You’ll be asked during the Thanksgiving holiday what you’re thankful for. And yes, you should be thankful for your brothers and sisters. The Bible, however, helps us understand some grand reasons for being thankful and when these apply. For example:

Thanksgiving is:

• A theme of our _________ (1 Chronicles 16:7).
• It’s our first word of _________ to the Lord (1 Chronicles 16:8).

(Look up the verses and write in what you think should go there.)

You’ll find a bunch more in this worksheet. Print it out and complete about five a day for the next few days. As you complete each one, pray to God and ask him to help you be thankful according to each verse.

Today I rediscovered Three Dog Night. Somehow I got Never Been To Spain in my head but – gasp! – couldn’t remember all the words!

This was tragic, so I became re-obsessed. Love love love.

I even taught a dance to Eli’s Coming (but we didn’t get very far because the music is crazy fast after the first 30 seconds).

Sometimes, what looks like it will be as tasty as chocolate and peanut butter, ends up tasting more like pickles and ice cream. Nothing matches that last culinary disaster better than the merger of AOL and Time Warner.

Well, on December 9th, that union will be no more.

You can read the wordy Time Warner press release, but you’ll probably either fall asleep or your head will explode, before you reach the end. Instead, we’ll turn to trusty Reuters to translate the announcement into plain English:

Time Warner shareholders of record on Nov. 27 will receive an AOL stock dividend for every 11 shares of Time Warner common stock they hold…Based on the closing price of Time Warner’s stock at $32.35 and its 1.17 billion outstanding shares, the ratio would effectively value AOL’s market capitalization at around $3.44 billion…AOL common stock will begin trading on a ‘when-issued’ basis on the New York stock Exchange on Nov. 24 and will start trading under the ‘AOL’ symbol on Dec. 10.

Of course, it’s been almost 6 month months since Time Warner announced the AOL spin off, but now we finally get a date to watch. On December 9th, former Google exec and AOL CEO Tim Armstrong, will get to show us what he–and AOL–are made of!

I love Halloween.  I love everything about it. I like the costume parties, the drinking and of course the girls that turn every costume into something slutty.  I also like pranks that people pull, unless pulled on me, and this video is no exception.  What is funnier than a prank? How about pranks that go wrong! I am pretty sure the kid in the trash can was KO’s and stayed in there for hours.  And no one seemed to care, at all, that he was just punched in the face, which makes it even funnier.  Maybe because he was wearing a mask people assumed he wasn’t hurt, but he HAD to have been crying underneath that mask! What was that mask by the way? It looks like a skeleton version of SLASH!

Yesterday, Twitter started to officially roll out its own retweet function that has been the cause of some serious consternation from the Twittersphere (or whatever silly term you want to apply to the Twitter community).

Before we go into any detail please note the following and make sure you filter your reactions through the most important piece of data that you will need to know about this whole thing: you don’t have to use the new function. You can do whatever you want with regard to keeping your version of the status quo or adopting Twitter’s new retweet function. Also, this is not the final product as Evan Williams points out in his explanation of this overly controversial move by Twitter.

Overly controversial? Yup. While this can be viewed as a fundamental shift in how Twitter is used it’s not like some heavy-handed edict has been passed down to the users of Twitter in a “it is what it is” manner. No, it’s just another option. If you feel the need to complain even knowing this piece of information then you are likely to be the lottery winner that would say “Gee, if only I had won it last week I would have had more”. In other words, you probably complain about everything.

Back to the story. TechCrunch sums up the changes as follows

If you do happen to have it now, here’s a few interesting notes about the new feature (at least on twitter.com):

First, there is a new Retweets area in the right side bar. This allows you to see “Retweets by others”, “Retweets by you”, and “Your tweets, retweeted”. While the UI for the main homepage retweets can be a bit confusing at times, this Retweet area is laid out pretty nicely, as it is easy to see who exactly retweeted what.

Second, as co-founder Evan Williams noted today, there is an easy way to turn off retweets from individual users. Simply click on their profile and make sure the Retweet logo (the circular arrows) below their name is not highlighted green. This means that it’s off and you will not see Retweets from that user in your timeline. That’s great for users who go overboard with the feature and muck up your stream.

Third, if you do hate the new Retweet way, just don’t use it. Nothing is stopping you from still using the “RT …” syntax. The new Retweets simply give you an easy way to highlight something to your followers with the click of a button.

I HIGHLY recommend you visit the Ev Williams blog post for his complete explanation of the who, what, where and why of this change. Otherwise, this truly is what it is. Twitter has simply recognized that their third party developer and user system has created something of value. They are now trying to corral it in the best way they know how and leaving it open for debate and use. It’s actually that simple.

being me is pretty fricken aweshome. now, im not saying it doesnt have its fart sides, but im starting to realise every day is pretty much great for at least three minutes. and thats good.
