Ok so I’m not a fan of Sade’s yet but I havent heard her music to disprove her, however that wasn’t the reason why I posted this. I was browsing one of my regular sites when I came across this picture, at first I thought it was art then I found out it was an album cover, instantly I loved it. This picture is the cover art for Sade’s new LP ”Soldier of Love”. I havent heard anything from it yet but it’s due out on February 8th 2010, I’ll be on the look out now as I love this.

I know you’re probably like say what??? I felt like I was hallucinating when I saw this. I know I’m a couple days late but I still had to post this. Sade is like my idol. I love pretty much all her work that I’ve ever heard and I’m so excited for this. I’m sure she won’t disappoint.

It’s been awhile since we’ve written about White Lies, who are still currently touring their debut album, To Lose My Life. Bassist Charles Cave (the band’s main lyricist) recently revealed to BBC Radio 6 that the band is under a bit of pressure to put out their sophomore album. In the interview he had this to say:

“The first album has done well enough that it enables us to be a bit more experimental, and do what we want really, and see where a whole year and half’s worth of new music and influences come in to effect.”

“It seemed like, ‘It will happen when it happens’, but now it seems that it’s got to happen in a window of about two months.”

We haven’t seen an album from Sade in a while now, and like RiRi says the “wait is ova.” Soldier of Love is the new album by Sade that will be hitting stores Feb. 8th. I can’t wait for the singles to start to drop.

just found out that the friend we were waiting on to send parts for the new album isn’t able to do anything because his gear is kaput (which is OK, we just want him to be able to record again and we’ll work with him at a later time–sorry, alantl!).  that means that once the mac is back, mixing will be paramount, then mastering of some sort, then, bam, new album.

Legendary New York MCs, O.C. & A.G. return from a brief hiatus to quench the thirst of hip-hop fans worldwide. The album, refreshingly titled, OASIS, is executive produced by Show (of Showbiz & AG fame) and features stellar production by Show, Lord Finesse, E. Blaze, and Statik Selektah. O & A, longtime friends and crewmates, first collaborated together on the classic track “Weed & Drinks” and ever since then talked about doing a whole album together.

“Its was organic cause the chemistry was also so crazy, explains OC. “The whole process was really pure and from the heart and hip-hop fans are gonna love it!,” says AG about their new album.

Born in the Brooklyn and raised in Queens, O.C grew up across the street from another lyrical legend, Pharoahe Monch of Organized Konfusion. That neighbor spawned O.C’s recording debut was in 1991 on Organized Konfusion’s classic “Fudge Pudge. O.C. was tour when he first ran into D.I.T.C. members Lord Finesse & Buckwild. After the tour, Buckwild and O.C worked on a demo that would eventually become the Wild Pitch Records classic, Word…Life which contained the classic lyrical assault Time’s Up, later featured on Eminem’s biopic, 8 Mile.

Andre the Giant, better known as A.G., began his rise to acclaim the day Lord Finesse showed up at his school to challenge any lyricist that dared to battle. AG stood up to Finesse, line for line and Finesse couldn’t help but take notice of the hungry rapper. While in the studio contributing to Lord Finesse’s upcoming LP Funky Technician, AG met Showbiz for the first time. The bond was instant and the newly formed duo began their career by selling self-financed Soul Clap EP out of the trunk of Show’s Acura Legend coupe. Their first LP, “Runaway Slave”, put the spotlight back on the Bronx and heavily influenced the whole modern East Coast style of rap. Their sound was a combination of mobster influence, thoughtful lyricism, and amazing production that became synonymous with the D.I.T.C crew.

With a combined 10+ albums under their belt, its amazing how the guys stay relevant after all these years. A.G. explains, “For me, it’s the passion, when you’re passionate about something, you stay inspired, through the good and the bad”. When speaking about the significance of the album title OASIS, O.C adds “ˆIt’s 2009 and both AG and myself have something new and fresh to offer. Fans have been searching for something like this for a long time and finally here it is”

I dug the Doug collaboration with 24-7 Spyz (back in 1996) on Heavy Metal Soul By the Pound.  With Doug on lead vocal duties and Fishbone members in the mix, this promises to be pretty damn good.  I’m not too fond of their band name.  I mean, I understand the meaning and where they’re coming from.  I just don’t necessarily “prefer” their choice.  Regardless, I bet the music will be great.

Yes, the rumors are true… we will be going to Vermont for Caitlin’s birthday to start work on a new album. I just wanted to share a little bit about the special place that we will be trekking too. We will be driving to a small cow-town in the Northeast Kingdom, called Barton. This house (barely a house… camp is a better term) has been in my family for almost 20 years now, I have fond memories of this place all throughout childhood. Recently, I have been using the place as an escape from the drudgery of the city, it’s ooohhh soooo quiet, so beautiful and very inspiring. This summer, I discovered that one of the rooms has amazing acoustics for recording! I can’t think of a better place to bring The Broadcast (and Caitlin of course!) to start work on the new songs. If you’ve been following us lately, you know that we, as a band, have been writing a lot in the past month. Our sound is developing, and we are all pleased with the results! Stay tuned, we’ll have some aural treats for you in the new year.

Much like Hypnotic’s 3-d  album cover, the music of Muck and the Mires comes straight at you. Kim Fowley’s production is sharp and thin – he usually just throws the songs out there without fanfare (“Cocoa Beach” does get a roll of surf). When the songs are strong enough, like the garage crunch of “Crush on Me” and the killer opening track “Doreen”, it appears to be a marriage made in heaven. But when it doesn’t, it exposes a song like “Hang All over Me” for what it is; a pedestrian pop rocker that disappears from memory almost immediately. But that’s the beauty of an album of short pop songs – mental floss is three minutes away, and there are far more hits than misses.

Many bands ape The Beatles, but these guys cleverly went all the way back to Hamburg (and if “Hamburg Time” doesn’t get your mop top shimmying, there’s something wrong with you). But they don’t stop there – “Wipeout” is embedded in “Cocoa Beach”, “Do It All Over Again” subtly buries the theme from The Munsters in its melody, and “Treat Me Right” sounds like a teenaged Dave Edmunds grave-robbing Scotty Moore-era Elvis. The title track should be the theme song for a revival of Where the Action Is. I don’t think this is the best Muck album, but Fowley has captured a rawer, live sound, accentuated by deeper, raspier vocals from Evan Shore.

So what the hell, this isn’t rocket science. Do you wanna have fun or not? Pop this in and turn it up before that hot chick who wants to dance leaves the party.

In a recent interview with rollingout.com, Rick Ross’ group Triple C’s, also known as Carol City Cartel, called out KRS-One and whether or not Hip Hop is dead.

Torch, one third of the Florida based group stated “You notice it’s the people that always say ‘Hip Hop is dead,’ that ain’t got no [money].”

“To top it all off, it’s like, Hip Hop is dead but when they had their run, the same people that say these things, they be in pictures with AK’s, they forget all that now. You need your track record, do your homework and the same record that people are pointing their fingers, you gotta realize, every time you point your finger, the other four are pointing right back at you,” he added.

While Torch was explaining this during the interview, Gunplay interrupted, calling out KRS-One’s most esteemed album. “Criminal Minded,” he laughed while sarcastically coughing.

“You gotta understand what’s going on. So at the end of the day, I ain’t with the finger pointing and the other four pointing back at you, but at the end of the day, music is music. You stay in your genre of music,” Torch continued.

Earlier this year, KRS-One targeted Triple C’s label for the destruction of Hip Hop music. “Def Jam is the dopest label in Hip Hop, in the culture of Hip Hop,” he explained in an interview with XXL. “There really would be no Hip Hop as we know it today if it wasn’t for Def Jam. But you don’t get that respect without also being the label that single-handedly destroyed Hip Hop… Every time you think of what’s wrong with Hip Hop, the lyrics, the commercialized music, one artist being played on the radio all day, things like that, that’s all Def Jam,” he asserted.

Triple C’s released their first studio album, titled Custom Cars & Cycles earlier this year on Maybach Music Group/Def Jam. The fifteen track album features appearance by Gucci Mane, Bun B, Game, Birdman and more. Custom Cars & Cycles sold 12,100 units in the opening week

Bad B*tch Rihanna has been rumored to host the American Music Awards 2009 later tonight, a source in america tell’s me that when the check the TV listing info its says Rihanna is hosting, however this is not comfirmed, but if it is true this could be huge promotion for Rihanna lastest LP “Rated R” which drops in stores on Monday.

Soooo guess who’s prepping a new album for fall next winter, None other than Beyoncé; come on, I told you this woman does not stop so it’s no surprise, but seriously B, honey will you just take a break, 1 year even. Please.

I’m not going to lie I am looking forward to hearing a new album it has nearly been 2 years since “I Am… Sasha Fierce” was released, but really Ive been seeing  Beyoncé in my face way to much since she released that Video Anthology off “B-Day”, I feel like im not getting a chance to actually look forward to her, to want her to return, shes just always there.

Sadly I she aint going no where for now because after that album and tour Destiny’s Child will probably reunite and then she will have that to do plus I’m sure more movies or some other type of promotion going on so yeah she’ll be around.

 I just hope that people dont get sick of her, too much over exposure is never good in the long run. People will start to regurgitate. Anywhoo guess we will see.

After 2 years of teasing the hip hop community with hot mixtapes, Wale’s album “Attention Deficit” finally hit stores November 10. I picked up a copy about a week ago and have been listening to it all day all night. There are crisp and fresh beats, kicking it off with the explosive Triumph that commands attention. Favorite line; “cause older women put a n***a on the bucket list, its me against you, the movie o’ the year, cause you slumdog, and im the millionaire”. Mirrors ft. Bun B is so original, its from the future. I can’t say enough to justify how fucking cool this track is, it just is.

Unfortunately most of the album strays from the beat formulas of “Mirrors” and the single “Chillin”, instead opting for safer more recognizable patterns that litter the hip hop landscape.

Regardless, Wale’s lyrical content provides for a refreshing range of subjects, from “World Tour” detailing his rise to public recognition, to “90210″ providing an honest account of a bulimic socialite in LA.
For a DC native, Wale fits right in at the sco. He reminds me of a younger Kanye, save for his uncharacteristic humility (refusing to walk the red carpet because he doesn’t feel like he deserves it yet).

In any case this is a great start to what will hopefully be a lengthy and hit-riddled career.
