LIGHTNING IS SOON BACK TO SPOTLIGHT

You have maybe noticed the lack of the Lightning Returns news after the announcement that happened back in September? No need to worry – it is coming to its end. In these past weeks, Square Enix has been sharing old information about the game on their official Twitter and Facebook sites to slowly build the hype.

Now they have announced that there will be lots of news about Lightning’s comeback in December! (Which starts tomorrow! Have you yet bought Christmas calendar and gifs?)

THE STORY BEHIND THE NEW LOGO

After the news hurricane announcement of December, Square Enix told more information about the logo of the game – which is dramatically different to traditional ones. The team wanted to create something completely different and unique for the game. There was many ideas for the logo and several designs were made, but those were scrapped.

The final form of the logo was the one you can see in the picture above. They say it combines Lightning and metal. The new logo won’t be only presenting the game, but it will  have a role in the game itself! What could it be? Maybe it’s Lightning’s new necklace which they will be including in the super limited edition of the game? Who wouldn’t love to wear bling bling like that?

MASASHI HAMAUZU IS WORKING ON THE SOUNDTRACK OF LIGHTNING RETURNS?

According to interview by Swiss newspaper, Masashi Hamauzu (The music composer of FFXIII and XIII-2) is working on new games and projects. This information was emerged when they were interviewing him about the concert/tour of Imeruat. Maybe he is composing new music for Lightning Returns while touring with his band and Mina?

Imeruat will be having a concert this weekend in Toulouse (France), so he gotta be busy and working hard IF he is composing music for the game at the same time.

COOL INFORMATION: In the concerts, IMERUAT has been playing a vocal version of BLINDED BY LIGHT (battle theme of FFXIII) what made us wonder: Would it be awesome if the theme song of Lightning Returns was rearranged and upgraded version of Blinded by Light with vocals, wouldn’t it?

Here is a list of the sight words that we’ll be learning this year. As promised, the Kindergarten Team and I created an order to teach/learn words that should be recognized by sight. This means that when we test your child, we’ll give him/her 3 seconds to read each word. We’re working to build fluency and speed. If your child is read to move on to the next week of words, feel free to move ahead! We’ll be moving at your child’s speed. This is just a general list of when each word is formally taught.
Remember, have fun with it! Sight word hide and seek is always fun!

Kindergarten Sight Word List 12-13

I realize it is Sunday, and you may not get this note until Monday or Tuesday. However, I wanted to email you anyway in an effort to give you a head’s up.

We are working with apples this week. We’ve got lots of math, science, and language activities planned using apples. I am writing to ask for donations. We will need red, yellow, and green apples and will take as many as you have to offer! We’ll be counting seeds, comparing sizes, weights, and shapes, writing about apples, figuring out which have more or less seeds, graphing our favorite apples to eat, graphing our favorites ways to eats apples (sliced, juice, etc), and pretty much having a fun apple explosion of learning all week long!

Again, if you are able to donate apples, we’ll take them–all week long starting MONDAY. If you aren’t able to donate this time around, no worries. We’ve got plenty of school year left! Thanks so much everyone!!!

First off, Rockstar was here last night and today, and we got a lot of work done. I have a limited working model that I am now playing around with to decide on final functionality and to begin writing up user tutorials, work on the FAQs and so on. It’s really coming along.

Secondly, we discussed a domain name, and have made a purchase. Our website will be up in a week or so; I am building it now and will upload it when it’s completed. Can not wait!

The search function in the Create a List screen is amazing. And the ability to add notes on the list will be so useful. I’ll be writing up a great “How to use this program” article to really show you all how to maximize your savings using Coupro and my couponing methods.

First, we had Nat Clymer. He was very forward and loved his job. Passionate about photography, he told us stories about his experiences. He also told us about cross-space, focuses of your photograph, lighting and how much terrible photography there is out there. Nat was very informative and definitely did not sugar coat anything. He was really interesting and I’m definitely looking into his class.

Then, we had Robin Fischer. She was extremely talkative and upbeat, and seemed excited to be here. Robin introduced herself to all of us, and we reciprocated. Fischer mainly showed us how to interview in difficult situations, like a sexual assault case involving a minor. We read up on certain articles and talked about how difficult it could be to write about certain instances. She also told us about her upcoming book, and how it has moved her.

Finally, we had Tom Davis. He’s an editor for Patch.com in the coastal New Jersey region. We learned a little about his past experiences, including his time as a Columbia graduate student. Tom told us the benefits of hyperlocal journalism and how online ads can benefit the online news world. He showed us one example from the New York Times, and how they use the two areas right by their name at the top of the page as ad space. It was an interesting view on the industry then and now.

We sent home LOTS of information today! Pleeeeease be sure to check your child’s folder tonight.

Items to look for include:
-FIELD TRIP LUNCH CHOICE (This is of utmost importance! Please check one, and return either tomorrow or NO LATER THAN Wednesday!)
-NEW NEWSLETTER with updated information (including info about the Book It! Program that we’re doing in our class)
-A Reading Log to be kept in your child’s folder. At the end of each month, we’ll count the minutes, and if your child has reached the monthly goal (100 minutes for October), he/she will earn a certificate for a FREE PERSONAL PAN PIZZA from PIZZA HUT!
-Several fliers regarding events around the community.
-An October Family Activity calendar, monthly journal response sheet on the back of the calendar, and a fun crafts page about pumpkins. These are optional, but I’d love to hear what your child has to say about the great activities you and your family decide to do.

Thank you for taking the time to check over all of these things in your child’s folder. We spent today recalling routines and procedures. We needed a few reminders, but on the whole, it was a GREAT first day back to school! This week we’ll be learning about centers for the classroom and what to do at each station. I’ve already begun to convince myself to change my mind about one of the centers (I’m so fickle. Haha!) At any rate, we’ll be calling for volunteers super duper soon! (As soon as next week, but if not, then definitely the week after!) I look forward to having moms and dads help us out in the classroom! Please remember, we understand if you aren’t able to come–it is NOT manditory. But we’d more than love to have you!

I hope everyone had a great time over the break! I know I sure did! I was so glad to see everyone’s shining faces this morning! We did miss a few students due to absences, but hopefully they’ll be well enough to return tomorrow.

Fall Break is one of my favs! The weather’s nice, the beach isn’t so crowded, traffic is great for traveling, so on and on and on. I hope you had a GREAT time over the break! I look forward to hearing all the stories Monday morning! From the “I visited my Grandma in Tennessee!” to the “I went to Disney World!” and let’s not forget the “I stayed home and played and stayed up late!” Oh, and one of my favorites… “Look Ms. Polumbo! I LOST A TOOTH!!!” Those are always exciting!
