The new generation of iPods is coming out soon [this fall] and you should all be pretty excited…or as excited as you can be for the same exact product with one or maybe two new features. [I feel like each generation of iPod is like each new year/version of Madden].

Anyway, the new generation of iPod Nanos looks to actually be the best one since their debut. This one seems to have everything that an iPod [not Touch or Phone] should have always had. I’ll outline its features and let you decide whether or not its worth the $149 [8gb] and $179 [16gb] price tags.

1. A bigger screen – The screen is now 2.2 inches instead of 1.7. That’s a whole half an inch bigger [and ladies, you know that size matters].
2. FM Radio – Finally my iPod can let me listen to the radio [although if you have to rely on the radio...you probably need to have a less crappy iTunes library]. Also has a “Live Pause” option that lets you pause the radio.
3. Voice Over – Your iPod will now tell you what song/artist you’re listening to without you having to look at it. [Not knowing what is on your iPod, ftw]
4. A pedometer - Now you can track how far you walk/run while you exercise and rock out [forgive me for the 80's coming out in me]
5. A voice recorder – Now you can be like Capt. Kirk or James Bond; record your thoughts or blackmail your friends. The possibilities are endless…so watch what you say.

Now, last but certainly not the least of the new features, is a video camera. I know what you’re thinking…how did Apple fit a video camera in something the length of my index finger. It [supposedly] takes clean audio, captures crisp video, and probably makes you more attractive to everyone around you.

So what is my verdict? I’m going to buy it. As soon as it comes out, this is going in my pocket.

Dans la vie, Pomme est une petite geekette (mon pseudo vient bien de quelque part apres tout !!) (bon, pas que de la) (mais quand meme)

Oui, rien que ca. J’aime les gadgets, rien de mieux qu’un telephone portable ou un nouvel iPod pour me faire plaisir. Une appli trop choutte sur ma Pomme…

La nuit derniere, pendant que nous jouions toutes a la belle au bois dormant, mon idole de toujours, un des rares qui me transforme en groupie juste en apparaissant a l’ecran, apparaissait de nouveau.

La nuit derniere, Steve Jobs, aka le pdg de la boite la plus merveilleuse de la planete, presentait les derniers iPod & Co.

En bon couple de geek, nous avons visionne cette keynote ce soir, avec beaucoup d’attention et tout et tout.

Okay, je suis un peu decue par le cote trop shiny / blingbling des nouveaux iPod nano. Mais bon, on ne peut pas se prononcer avant d’avoir vu, donc verdict ce WE, quand ils seront ENFIN en magasin.

Okay, je m’attendais a autre chose qu’a une camera qui prend des films et pas de photo (??), et a un podometre.

Par contre, je reste absolument fan de ce mec, de son aura, de son charisme, de sa presence, de sa voix, de sa gestuelle… De tout quoi ! J’ai applaudi devant l’ecran, j’ai ri, je l’ai trouve change. Plus calme, plus pose. Les derniers mois l’ont transforme.

Je voudrais un nouveau macbook a defaut d’un nouvel iPod… (oui, hors sujet)

iPod Touch:

Es igual de rapido que el iPhone 3GS, tiene nueva tarjeta de video y no tiene ni camara ni microfono.

Precios:

• 8GB = $3o99 pesos
• 32GB = $4699 pesos
• 64GB = $6189 pesos

iPod Nano

Ahora el iPod nano cuenta con:

• Camara de video.

• Radio FM con pausa en directo.

• Microfono
• Bocinas

Precios:

• 8GB = $2349 pesos
• 16GB= $2849 pesos

iPod Classic:

Descontinuaron el de 120Gb y pusieron uno de 160 GB, cuesta $3889 pesos.

iPod Shuffle:

Solo agregaron nuevos colores, hay uno edicion especial de acero inoxidable pero solo se vende en la tienda Apple Store (la tienda online).

Precios:

• 2GB = $949 pesos
• 4GB = $1249 pesos

Aparte de los iPod, tambien salio iTunes 9, el cual te permite organizar mejor tu musica, aplicaciones, videos, etc. Tambien te permite estar en Facebook o en Twitter. La iTunes Store tambien ha sido remodelada.

Tambien sacaron el software 3.1, quete permitira jugar en linea, mezaclar genius, genius para aplicaciones, teclado horizontal, copiar cortar y pegar, si agitas el iPod se cambia la cancion, entre muchas mas.

Yep, its that time of year again, iPod + iTunes update time!

Apple have sent out invite’s to the media event, happening next week in San Francisco. But what can we expect? New iPods? New version of iTunes? or that Apple Tablet everyone is talking about?

Well, myself i’m expecting to see the following:

• New iPod Touch with camera, bigger memory (32/64GB) and tweaked performance like the iPhone 3GS.
• New iPod Nano, with a larger screen and a camera.
• iPod Classic, perhaps with a camera, but Im thinking more of a size change, (160GB +) Im thinking the Classic wont be around for much longer, as touch becomes the new standard and the click wheel is replaced.
• iTunes 9 – New interface, perhaps matching the new look of Quicktime X, and hopefully 64bit. Plus that social integration that was mentioned, either Facebook, Last.fm or more. Blu-ray support. And the best feature of all, the ability to arrange iPhone/iPod Touch Apps via iTunes – That would be the best thing since sliced bananas.
• Apple TV 3.0
• No Apple Tablet, though. These events are usually Music only, and I don’t think this year is different.

Thats just some of the things that could find its way to the event on the 9th.

What about The Beatles though?

Its long been known Apple want The Beatles back catalogue on iTunes, but many issues have stopped the music of one of the greatest band’s of all time appearing on the service. However, theres something interesting to note in all this.

The Beatles Rock Band, the first game to feature the band comes out when? The 9th of September. The Beatles re-mastered collection comes out when? The 9th of September. And the Apple event is… yep, the 9th of September. A bit like Beatles day isn’t it?

Dont let the Rolling Stone’s tag line put you off. I reckon we’ll be seeing a lot more on 9.9.09.

A new concept in the collection of Apple’s mp3’s…the iPod SLIDE. Definitely didn’t see this one coming. Binded  into the concept is that the iPod can be controlled by thermal sensors. More pictures after the jump.

The new iPod Touch is said to come with a Camera and Microphone and even built-in Skype software. Sources say that Apple has already begun manufacturing the new range of iPod Touch models in China’s factories. The new features of the iPod will boost it’s sale tremendously. iPod Touch already has many features not available on other devices so having a camera and a microphone only makes the device better.

Apple just decided that it would be cool to make a device that was nothing more than a stick that held your songs, and inside of it lived a little robot slave that could tell you what the hell you were listening to…WHY?!?!?!?! The new iPod Shuffle is as wide and thin as a Tylenol pill. Where is Apple taking the shuffle? How much smaller could this thing go? One day the iPod shuffle will consist of nothing but the ear buds and you have the click wheel attached to one of your earlobes…

Apple has been one of the most envied companies around, and every product they have put out has been a revolutionary tool. I’m not really sure what the point of the new Shuffle is. With the shape of the economy and the lack of reason to get this new (swallow at your own risk) toy, I really don’t see Apple moving very many these oompa loompa sticks.

The New Shuffle/Tylenol

“Imagine your music player talking to you, telling you your song titles, artists and playlist names,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPod and iPhone Product Marketing.

“The amazingly small new iPod shuffle takes a revolutionary approach to how you listen to your music by talking to you, also making it the first iPod shuffle with playlists.”

All controls for the device are contained on the headphones. The vioce software is installed on the user’s computer and downloaded to the device so that it can speak in 14 languages, including English, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

While we were sleeping Apple popped out a new 2GB Shuffle. Are we excited? Put it this way, we would rather have seen a 64GB SSD hit the Touch, or even a 32GB disk in an iPhone, but the new Shuffle – as well as being amusingly loseable small – rectifies one of the big problems of the old model. Previously, when a random track blared out mid-jog and you wanted to know what it was, you were out of luck. This one will speak the name of the tune and artist, plus it can verbally let you know the status of its 10-hour battery. We sense, however, that the Shuffle’s Arabic support will be somewhat lacking. Available in black or silver any time now for US$80.

UPDATE: 4GB is what we meant. The new Shuffle is 4GB. Note to selves – drink coffee before early morning posting. Sorry.

The New iPod Shuffle

As I’ve written before, I HATE Apple, well I don’t really hate it – hate it – is more their business model, which I feel rips off consumers every year by launching unfinished products and then releasing the same one with a minimal upgrade. 
 
Apple announced , today March 11, 2009, a third generation iPod Shuffle. This new version, I must concede, does offer some improvements and comes after almost three years of the previous generation being – originally – released. The second generation iPod shuffle was released on September 12, 2006 with 1GB and a smaller clip design with anodized aluminum casing, by January 30, 2007 four color options were added and then more colors were released on September 5, 2007. A 2GB model was introduced on February 19, 2008 and later new colors were introduced on September 9, 2008.  Again, this was all Apple’s business model at play, small, insignificant improvements until the new generation came along. At least this time it’s worth it. 
 

Size comparison to a conventional key

The new iPod Shuffle is 1.8″ tall x 0.3″ in size, smaller than a conventional key (and easier to lose), the controls are located on the right earbud cord, which allows the new iPod Shuffle to be so small. It features 4GB disc space that can carrie up to *1,000 songs, it features a “new” feature called VoiceOver (TÚAW the unofficial Apple Blog, said: the feature is not really “new,” because it has been featured on the iPod Nano). This feature allows, with the press of a button, the music player to tell you the song’s name and artist, the name of your playlist and even when your battery is low, it even comes in 14 different languages so it can correctly say your songs. This time, the upgrade is welcome, however, expect four different new colors for summer and again before the Holidays – just a hunch- you know .
