I’m veeerrry tired and I should be sleeping right now and I forgot to write yesterday, but technically today is yesterday since its past midnight and I’m just going to lie and change the time from 01:38 to…. 11:38! Since its the same day for me and I haven’t gone to bed yet! I so wish I had.

I woke up at 7something crazy o’clock! Went to uni, had a few lectures, had a discovery/volunteer meeting, saw my nana and her co worker for awhile, did some shopping and went to work. From 6-11:30pm. I needed to leave at like 10:30 and a guy I had just met said he’d stay on an extra hour for me so I could leave and then he uh, didn’t. And it was too busy to let me go so I had to beg teh mother to drive 30-odd minutes in the night and rain (and roads she hates! and she’s normally sleeping at 11:30 you know!) to come and get me.

I worked yesterday and will be working tomorrow form 10am to 6pm so opposites of today really. Omg I really need to sleep. I got home after midnight and literately showed and ate food and its already almost 2am! My legs ache and my feet but I’m wearing my brand new slippers!

Slipper love <3 They make me happy and they are sooo comfy! £12 from New Look but I had 10% discount and I don’t normally wear normal slippers since they are so easy to take off etc. I love wearing my knitted boots and fake uggs around the house and now I have slipper versions so yay! I also bought bow headbands. One’s for an early Madonna type look for my friends 80’s themed party and one was half price since I was buying the other, a smaller grey one which I already have in green.

Now I really am going to bed, yay sleep =]

Campo Político

Com o fim dos anos de guerra e do racionamento de tecidos, a mulher dos anos 50 se tornou mais feminina e glamourosa, de acordo com a moda lançada pelo “New Look”, de Christian Dior, em 1947. Metros e metros de tecido eram gastos para confeccionar um vestido, bem amplo e na altura dos tornozelos. A cintura era bem marcada e os sapatos eram de saltos altos, além das luvas e outros acessórios luxuosos, como peles e jóias.
Essa silhueta extremamente feminina e jovial atravessou toda a década de 50 e se manteve como base para a maioria das criações desse período. Apesar de tudo indicar que a moda seguiria o caminho da simplicidade e praticidade, acompanhando todas as mudanças provocadas pela guerra, nunca uma tendência foi tão rapidamente aceita pelas mulheres como o “New Look” Dior, o que indica que a mulher ansiava pela volta da feminilidade, do luxo e da sofisticação.
E foi o mesmo Christian Dior quem liderou, até a sua morte em 1957, a agitação de novas tendências que foram surgindo quase a cada estação.

Moda e Tendência

 Com o fim da escassez dos cosméticos do pós-guerra, a beleza se tornaria um tema de grande importância. O clima era de sofisticação e era tempo de cuidar da aparência.
A maquiagem estava na moda e valorizava o olhar, o que levou a uma infinidade de lançamentos de produtos para os olhos, um verdadeiro arsenal composto por sombras, rímel, lápis para os olhos e sobrancelhas, além do indispensável delineador. A maquiagem realçava a intensidade dos lábios e a palidez da pele, que devia ser perfeita.
Grandes empresas, como a Revlon, Helena Rubinstein, Elizabeth Arden e Estée Lauder, gastavam muito em publicidade, era a explosão dos cosméticos. Na Europa, surgiram a Biotherm, em 1952 e a Clarins, em 1954, lançando produtos feitos a base de plantas, que se tornaria uma tendência a partir daí.
Era também o auge das tintas para cabelos, que passaram a fazer parte da vida de dois milhões de mulheres – antes eram 500 -, e das loções alisadoras e fixadoras.
Os penteados podiam ser coques ou rabos-de-cavalo, como os de Brigitte Bardot. Os cabelos também ficaram um pouco mais curtos, com mechas caindo no rosto e as franjas davam um ar de menina.

 Dois estilos de beleza feminina marcaram os anos 50, o das ingênuas chiques, encarnado por Grace Kelly e Audrey Hepburn, que se caracterizavam pela naturalidade e jovialidade e o estilo sensual e fatal, como o das atrizes Rita Hayworth e Ava Gardner, como também o das pin-ups americanas, loiras e com seios fartos.
Entretanto, os dois grandes símbolos de beleza da década de 50 foram Marilyn Monroe e Brigitte Bardot, que eram uma mistura dos dois estilos, a devastadora combinação de ingenuidade e sensualidade.
As pioneiras das atuais top models surgiram através das lentes dos fotógrafos de moda, entre eles, Richard Avedon, Irving Penn e Willian Klein, que fotografavam para as maisons e para as revistas de moda, como a Elle e a Vogue.

 Durante os anos 50, a alta-costura viveu o seu apogeu. Nomes importantes da criação de moda, como o espanhol Cristobal Balenciaga – considerado o grande mestre da alta-costura -, Hubert de Givenchy, Pierre Balmain, Chanel, Madame Grès, Nina Ricci e o próprio Christian Dior, transformaram essa época na mais glamourosa e sofisticada de todas.
A partir de 1950, uma forma de difusão da alta-costura parisiense tornou-se possível com a criação de um grupo chamado “Costureiros Associados”, do qual faziam parte famosas maisons, como a de Jacques Fath, Jeanne Paquin, Robert Piguet e Jean Dessès. Esse grupo havia se unido a sete profissionais da moda de confecção para editar, cada um, sete modelos a cada estação, para que fossem distribuídos para algumas lojas selecionadas.

Ao lado do sucesso da alta-costura parisiense, os Estados Unidos estavam avançando na direção do ready-to-wear e da confecção. A indústria norte-americana desse setor estava cada vez mais forte, com as técnicas de produção em massa cada vez mais bem desenvolvidas e especializadas.
Na Inglaterra, empresas como Jaeger, Susan Small e Dereta produziam roupas prêt-à-porter sofisticadas. Na Itália, Emilio Pucci produzia peças separadas em cores fortes e estampadas que faziam sucesso tanto na Europa como nos EUA.
Na França, Jacques Fath foi um dos primeiros a se voltar ao prêt-à-porter, ainda em 1948, mas era inevitável que os outros estilistas começassem a acompanhar essa nova tendência a medida que a alta-costura começava a perder terreno, já no final dos anos 50.
Nessa época, pela primeira vez, as pessoas comuns puderam ter acesso às criações da moda sintonizada com as tendências do momento.
Em 1955, as revistas Elle e Vogue dedicaram várias páginas de sua publicação às coleções de prêt-à-porter, o que sinalizava que algo estava se transformando no mundo da moda.
Uma preocupação dos estilistas era a diversificação dos produtos, através do sistema de licenças, que estava revolucionando a estratégia econômica das marcas. Assim, alguns itens se tornaram símbolos do que havia de mais chique, como o lenço de seda Hermès, que Audrey Hepburn usava, o perfume Chanel Nº 5, preferido de Marilyn Monroe e o batom Coronation Pink, lançado por Helena Rubinstein para a coroação da rainha da Inglaterra.
Dentro do grande número de perfumes lançados nos anos 50, muitos constituem ainda hoje os principais produtos em que se apóiam algumas maisons, cuja sobrevivência muitas vezes é assegurada por eles.

Fim dos Anos 50

 A Guerra Fria, travada entre os Estados Unidos e a então União Soviética ficou marcada, durante os anos 50, pelo início da corrida espacial, uma verdadeira competição entre os dois países pela liderança na exploração do espaço.
A ficção científica e todos os temas espaciais passaram a ser associados a modernidade e foram muito usados. Até os carros americanos ganharam um visual inspirado em foguetes. Eles eram grandes, baixos e compridos, além de luxuosos e confortáveis.
Os Estados Unidos estavam vivendo um momento de prosperidade e confiança, já que haviam se transformado em fiadores econômicos e políticos do mundo ocidental após a vitória dos aliados na guerra. Isso fez surgir, durante esse período, uma juventude abastada e consumista, que vivia com o conforto que a modernidade lhes oferecia.
Melhores condições de habitação, desenvolvimento das comunicações, a busca pelo novo, pelo conforto e consumo são algumas das características dessa época.
A televisão se popularizou e permitia que as pessoas assistissem aos acontecimentos que cercavam os ricos e famosos, que viviam de luxo, prazer e elegância, como o casamento da atriz Grace Kelly com o príncipe Rainier de Mônaco.
A tradição e os valores conservadores estavam de volta. As pessoas casavam cedo e tinham filhos. Nesse contexto, a mulher dos anos 50, além de bela e bem cuidada, devia ser boa dona-de-casa, esposa e mãe. Vários aparelhos eletrodomésticos foram criados para ajudá-la nessa tarefa difícil, como o aspirador de pó e a máquina de lavar roupas.
Em contraposição ao estilo norte-americano de obsolescência planejada, ao criarem produtos pouco duráveis, na Europa ressurgiu, especialmente na Alemanha, o estilo modernista da Bauhaus, com o objetivo de fabricar bens duráveis, com um design voltado a funcionalidade e ao futuro, refletindo a vida moderna. Vários equipamentos, como rádios, televisores e máquinas, foram criados seguindo a fórmula de linhas simples, durabilidade e equilíbrio.

 Ao som do rock and roll, a nova música que surgia nos 50, a juventude norte-americana buscava sua própria moda. Assim, apareceu a moda colegial, que teve origem no sportswear. As moças agora usavam, além das saias rodadas, calças cigarrete até os tornozelos, sapatos baixos, suéter e jeans.
O cinema lançou a moda do garoto rebelde, simbolizada por James Dean, no filme “Juventude Transviada” (1955), que usava blusão de couro e jeans. Marlon Brando também sugeria um visual displicente no filme “Um Bonde Chamado Desejo” (1951), transformando a camiseta branca em um símbolo da juventude.
Já na Inglaterra, alguns londrinos voltaram a usar o estilo eduardiano, mas com um componente mais agressivo, com longos jaquetões de veludo, coloridos e vistosos, além de um topete enrolado. Eram os “teddy-boys”.
Ao final dos anos 50, a confecção se apresentava como a grande oportunidade de democratização da moda, que começou a fazer parte da vida cotidiana. Nesse cenário, começava a ser formar um mercado com um grande potencial, o da moda jovem, que se tornaria o grande filão dos anos 60.

Now I adore shoes, I wouldn’t quite say they’re my raison d’etre but very close. It all stems from my mum who has probably a good 80-100 pairs of shoes, all kept in their boxes with descriptions on the front so she can see quite easily what & where they are. In direct contract to mine which are shoved in wardrobes, under the bed, under the wardrobe, behind the sofas, in a shoe hangy-uppy thing from Ikea, thrown around the bedroom/kitchen/lounge etc. I have a lot of shoes too. Probably getting on for 50-60 pairs. No Imelda Marcos but still a fair few.

I started buying shoes when I first put on weight. I couldn’t wear the clothes I wanted so I reflected my tastes and personality through my shoes. I wear very sensible, flat, black, boring shoes for work but at weekends and when I go out I love bright colours, wedges, heels, anything that stands out a little bit. My current favourites are silver snakeskin wedge sandals with black straps from Next for night and flat green sling backs with a wooden red ladybird on the front from Office about 7 years ago.

I buy shoes I know I’m not going to wear just because I love them (I’ve stopped doing this though now due to leack of funds). I have a sparkly pair of bright pink stilettos with purple piping that I fell in love with in the Schuh sale and had to have even though I knew I wouldn’t wear them. A pair of green knee high boots that look like Peter Pan boots from New Look. And these. My beautiful red, spotty, Irregular Choice heels with a toadstool on the front (main pic). I wore these to the pub once, crippled myself and now just wear them in the house and look in the mirror at how exquisite they are. I hate my feet but feel it necessary to adorn them in beautiful creations (preferably that show off my tattoos) for my viewing pleasure. I love to wear my Dorothy shoes (bright red glitter, pointed toe) from a cheap shop in Bolton, my ’special needs’ shoes as my sister called them, (flat white Mary Janes with pink pelicans all over them) from Office, my 70’s shoes (7 inch wedges, the front wedge alone is 2 inches! in brown suede with a bow) from Moda in Pelle. Any colour, any kind, any shop, any price. I love them all.

If money was no object I still don’t think I’d buy designer shoes. Occasionally I’ll lust after a pair of Jimmy Choos or Ginas that I see on celebs. I have fallen for the YSL Tribute pumps (thanks to Grazia for introducing me to these completely out of reach lovelies) but the shoes that get me going every time are Kurt Geigers. We have a KG shop 5 minutes from work which is just mean. I go and drool over shoes I can’t afford but that make me want to cry they’re that beautiful.

I don’t mean to wear strange coloured or designed shoes, I’m not projecting my ‘wacky’ personality, I just like bright colours and interesting shoes that few others do. My sister was moaning in Australia that she didn’t have shoes to match a new outfit my parents had just bought. I offered to GIVE her my much adored brown, studded gladiators from Next and she said no! She hates my shoes, favouring classic black sandals, Billabong flip flops (which I am admittedly converted too) and the ubiquitous crocs for work.

I’m struggling to find one pair of shoes that fits my personality. I have a number of guises for which different shoes are needed, mummy (black studded ballerinas), employee (boring black patent Mary Janes from M&S), student (my beloved cherry print Birkenstocks), wife (sensible  grey heels from M&S), friend (knee high black boots), piss head (any high wedges that are totally impractical but look fabulous!). Many Next shoes (my current favourite supplier) reflect my personality, especially these but if I had to choose 1 pair I’d go for these classic Kurt Geigers that I be thrilled to own.  They’re lovely, deceptively comfortable, slightly offbeat, stable and surprisingly cheap. Rather like me.

So, let’s be honest here.

Silly you, doubting me.

Pengen cerita tentang beberapa hal baru akhir-akhir ini… Sebenarnya sih bukan hal yang baru-baru amat, tapi berhubung udah lama banget saya gak ngalamin dan ngejalaninnya, jadinya terasa bener-bener baru deh…

Pertama,

akhirnyaaaaaa….rambut saya dipotong jugaaaa!!!! Huehehehe…. Sejak melahirkan, rambut saya ini gak pernah nyentuh gunting rambut, jangankan itu, ke salon aja gak pernah. Gak tau kenapa, rasanya kok ya sayang banget kalo saya mesti ngabisin waktu untuk diri sendiri dan ninggalin Raja. Gak mungkin dong Raja saya bawa ke salon, tar terkontaminasi sama aneka bahan kimia di situ lagi..

Maka jadilah selama 9 bulan saya gak pernah menggunting rambut hingga akhirnya rambut saya ini melewati pinggang…duh, panjang banget deh… Sejak dulu saya memang terbiasa dengan rambut panjang, tapi gak pernah sepanjang ini!!! Rasanya udah geraaahhhh banget pengen dipotong, pengen perawatan lagi kayak dulu… tapi kok ya waktunya gak pernah ada????!!!!!

Sampe akhirnya, jumat kemarin. Pas kerjaan dah pada selesai. Pas para bos juga lagi gak ada… saya memutuskan untuk mengkorupsi waktu kerja di kantor. Bareng 2 orang temen, saya ke salon. Sempet ditantang untuk menggunting pendek rambut saya. Tapi ah, saya gak berani…pengen dipotong lewat bahu dikit aja. Yang penting terlihat fresh..syukur-syukur kalo bisa keliatan lebih muda, he he…

Maka…beginilah jadinya rambut baru saya…. *before-nya gak perlu deh ditampilin di sini…saya aja males liatnya *

Baru selesai digunting dan baru selesai diblow, makanya hasilnya bagus gitu, he he

tentang…siklus… Siklus apa??? Well just say, ‘the cycle u know what’, he he… Akhirnya, kebagian juga saya siklus itu lagi.. Setelah total 1 tahun 6 bulan saya gak pernah ngalamin, jumat kemarin, i felt something different in me… dan ternyata, benar perkiraan saya. The cycle u know what itu datang juga!!!! Gak tau nih mesti seneng ato sedih, soalnya lagi kepikiran, kalo siklus itu datang, ASI saya bakal berkurang gak ya???? Pengalaman yang laen gimana??? Sharing dong…

Tapi yah, serahin ajalah semuanya sama Tuhan. Toh, Tuhan juga yang akan tetap mencukupi kebutuhan Raja akan ASI…iya gak???

Terakhir,

hal baru yang saya jalani adalah… datang ke kantor right on time!!!! Hoooraaayyyy!!!! Ini sih sebenarnya karena terpaksa, karena terhitung sejak tanggal 1 desember 2009, perihal absen mengabsen akan diperketat. Dan sehubungan saya yang sudah mendapat peringatan dini dengan daftar kehadiran yang dari hari ke hari merah semua di mana laporannya sudah masuk ke Manajer Bidang saya, akhirnya dengan berat hati saya memutuskan untuk mengikuti peraturan kantor.

Well, saya gak bisa seenaknya sendiri aja kan? Pengen gajinya, tapi gak pengen naatin peraturannya. Yah, meskipun dengan konsekuensi musti lebih cermat lagi mengatur jadwal di pagi hari dan lebih bijak lagi dalam manajemen ASIP untuk Raja… but well, it’s ok…i believe everything will be just fine!

O ya, sebenarnya sejak pagi tadi saya positif gak kerja di kantor. Soalnya saya lagi sibuk di keimigrasian, ngurusin passport untuk Raja dan juga untuk suster… untuk apa???? Nanti ajalah diceritainnya kalo udah kelar semuanya, he he…

Lo irreal:  American Way of Life

Tras una época gris de austeridad y reserva, en los años 50′ las pasarelas empiezan a reflejar unas ganas enormes de vivir y,  por supuesto, de consumir. Es el momento de salir de casa, tomarse un tiempo para el ocio y divertirse, dejando todo lo malo en el pasado. Y eso lo saben reflejar muy bien las revistas que presentan la moda como un juego, el juego de jugar a ser la deportista, la chica sweater, la pin-up, la chica ‘Greace’; incluso ser ama de casa tiene su punto. 

 Lo real: La Jolie Madame

La colección otoño–invierno presentada por Balmain en 1952, que recibió el mismo nombre que uno de sus perfumes, Jolie Madame fue una propuesta que definió el estilo de la mujer moderna, “que debe vestirse de acuerdo al momento del día y a la actividad social que desempeña”. El estilo de los vestidos es: corte medio, talle marcado y decoraciones.

After over a year of ripping my hair out, getting opinions, and revising/rewriting ’til my eyes bled, DEALING WITH DEMONS is done.  It’s ready to query.  It is, but I’m not.  Why?

Because of the huge ass list of things I have to do which include: writing the synopsis, writing a botany paper, doing french homework, reading/writing for my writing class, revise/rewrite query letter, personal said query letter to meet the requirements of desired agents, get my head on straight and prepare to deal with rejection letters.

And it’s NaNoWriMo month, and I’m trying to get 50,000 words written.  Not on a new project, like I should, but on rewriting ANGELIC DEMON, the second book in the Jacky series.  So far?  It’s moving too fast, and too slow.  Hitting all the key points that need to stay from the original MS, but I’m not sure it’s flowing as well.  Meh.  At least the writing’s better.  That’s a plus.

I’ve not blogged for a while, and then all of sudden this.  Does it mean I’ll return to a regularly scheduled blog?  Probably not.  I can try, try, to write one a week.  But frankly, if I’m feeling inspired to write, all that effort is going to be turned toward Jacky.

Anyway, I am on twitter, as the twitter feed to the right would indicate.  I tend to twitter more when I’m writing than when I’m not, which means I’ve been very active this last month.

School is an eater of souls, and so is World of Warcraft.  Lucky me, I still manage to find time to do what I love most, and that is write.  I’m getting close to taking the next big step on getting published, and to be honest, the thought is enough to make me feel ill.  But a good kind of ill.  And anxious, excited ill.

In order to re-familiarize myself with blogging, I’m going to visit the 1950s again, and what would be better than wearing the “Doriane” coat by L’Abel on that occasion? After many months of delays, after much inactivity and after a lot of thought, we have finally got our new PC and are back in business. Moreover, we have redesigned the site to provide more flexibility and a much more user-friendly interface! Simple and elegant. However, this couldn’t have been accomplished without our most faithful readers, who contacted us and gave us  suggestions.

So anyways, our new PC will give us the ability to review more modern games, and hopefully will attract more enthusiasts. So yeah, the reviews will be ‘rollin in shortly after too!

Over the last couple of months my social life has slowly died down, which basically means I’m always at one of three places: work,university or my bed taking a nap lol. So my outfits are normally nothing to blog about but today I went to a friend’s house and this is what I wore:

Top Tip: Wear with a boyfriend fit or structured blazer for a more edgy look. That’s def what I should have done lol.

Hi guys, I know I have been a terrible little blogger lately, not updating my blog all that often anymore. I love my blog and my blog readers, so I will try my bestest to be better in the future, I will not let my blog die that’s for sure.

Christmas is coming up too fast for some to cope with, but we can’t slow down time, and therefor just having to cope with it. Like some of you already have done, I myself will also add a nice little wish list for Christmas. I think it’s hard tho, when people ask me what I want for Christmas, because honestly I’ve never been happier and I have got all I could ever really wish for. But I’ll give it a go anyway.
